For me, this means today I get to finish sewing my latest textile art, go for a rainy walk, cook some nice food. Eat. The aggravating stuff I'll have to deal with later in the week can stay there—it can sit patiently at that point in the future, and I'll get to it when I get to it rather than let my brain rot a little bit and hinder my progress today.

2024 Year in Review.

2024 was an overall very good year for art for me (probably in part because it was the first year ever that I was not a student). Like all years, it had its "way up" and "way down" periods - art for me is on a boom and bust cycle. 2024 was also a somewhat bad year for health, which impacted my art considerably at some moments.

January was phenomenal in terms of worldbuilding. March and April were quite quiet. May was better. June and July were high months - in June, I designed my fursona and in July, I tried out a new brush which sincerely revolutionized my lineart process. Sometimes the right brush can make a world of difference. August was quiet on account of my long-awaited trip to Peru, and it took me a few weeks to recover afterwards. I spent most of September drawing plants, and most of October frantically drawing fauna, until I got COVID and was nerfed for a month and a half. November was mostly bad, but I did manage to fix my sleep schedule (something I thought would never happen), and the change seems to be sticking (at the expense of making art, because I'm no longer drawing 'til 2 am). December ended on a high note, with me finishing three long-standing projects within the months and quitting my shit job on the 31st.

January 2025 seems to be starting on a high note. I'm trying to lead my personal life in new directions this year - more art, more ambition, more time on things that bring me joy, and less on things that don't.

This week into next week is going to be bonkers.

-Thursday: Halloween 🎃

-Sunday: Time change for the US (and probably other places) (we're going backwards an hour)

-Tuesday: ELECTION DAY

So uhh...be gentle with yourself this week. And each other. Remember to take a break from the news cycle every once in a while, because if last election November taught us anything, it's gonna be wild. (Maybe another long-standing queer-baiting couple will go canon and we can all go feral again on the tumblr.coms)

Growing up is a good thing.

I repeat: Growing up is a good thing.

We are MEANT to grow up, and MEANT to mature. Our bodies don't stay small and immature, our minds and spirits aren't meant to either.

All those shows and stories and whatnot that say "Don't grow up!" "Growing up is bad and boring!" They are lying, and they are wrong. Of course being grown up can get twisted and distorted from what it should be, usually by a LACK of maturity, not an excess.

It's supposed to be a process, of course. It shouldn't be rushed, as far as you can help it. But I think real maturity remembers and learns from and keeps good things from every stage of life. While embracing the current stage completely.

Growing up is a good thing. Don't be afraid of it. This is what you were made for.

Would you ever consider writing Carcar where Lando accidentally finds out about them and decides to wait for them to come clean…only it’s been nearly 6 months and Lando is fit to burst, but they both seem happy and he doesn’t want to meddle?!?

that would be a funny epilogue to at a constant speed wouldn’t it??

mainly it’s because oscar and carlos aren’t subtle like, at all. little hints here and there.

carlos starting to smile at oscar at the driver’s parade even if the fans only ever catch oscar staring for a beat too long, and never smiling back. the fans suspect oscar has food poisoning. the carcar believers think something is up.

oscar spends texting too long to carlos, talking about the history of like, lorries that cross the australian desert or something. lando asks if oscar is “writing an essay or something”. oscar blushes and says, “no, i’m making a point”. lando says “ah so you’re writing an essay then.”

carlos walks into the mclaren motor home, chats to lando, and tosses a pack of double-layered tim tams at oscar who catches it stoically. lando stares at them both and once carlos leaves, goes: “you’re on talking terms now?” and oscar says “if you noticed, we actually weren’t talking.” then goes back to staring at his chess game on his phone.

carlos and oscar go dolphin watching in the off season for some inexplicable reason. carlos thinks it will be funny. oscar is not sure why he goes along with this. it turns out to be kind of romantic. carlos never lies to lando and says “i am going dolphin watching.” oscar just says “i’m on a boat.” lando is getting very suspicious now.

and at one point:

carlos eats a specific type of spanish mackerel as part of his meal plan and lando is over at oscar’s monaco place and carlos has to quickly leave the house and hide somewhere (“this is undignified,” he tells oscar before he makes himself scarce). lando goes to open a cupboard to get some water and then sees the specific tin of fish and is like. OMG! I KNEW IT, BOTH OF YOU

there is also a polaroid that carlos took of oscar when they both cycled to a hilltop once. oscar eventually sticks that one near his sim rig. “spite motivation”, or so he tells himself.

I don’t give up on anyone easily. I’ll be there hoping for the best until my brain eventually convinces my heart that letting go is better for us in the long run. So don’t ever doubt my loyalty or my love

All the good stuff is happening at once. I secured my apprenticeship at the little job i like, i came out to pretty much everyone thats important, got new glasses, got the endo appointment, my crush likes me back and all of that on my birthday. Things are great :3

A few things ive been doing recently that help manage my adhd

Not sure if this will help anyone but i've made a list of things ive been working really hard to do to help manage my adhd and general inability to be a functional adult:

Make reminder posters! Get on canva and create personalized posters to put around your room/house to help remind you to do daily things like take your meds, feed pets, take out trash, etc.

Keep a junk notebook! Anything you think of that cant do immediately write it down. If its important it'll help you remember it, if not it saves you from getting distracted or making impulsive decisions. (This is especially helpful if you tend to get distracted when studying!)

CLEAN AS YOU GO! Whether its taking a cup out of your room every time you leave or washing each dish immediately after use. If you can develop this habit it keeps your space so much cleaner!

Have two laundry bins: one for worn but not dirty things and one for dirty things. It limits what ends up on your floor!

Make use of bins. I have several around my apartment that I use for things that dont have a home. Once those bins are full, I go through them and discard or find a permanent home for them.

Don't study/work at home. Even if it means buying a $5 coffee just so you can sit in a spot and effectively work, its much better than getting so behind on tasks you get overwhelmed.

It takes some work to develop habits and im far from perfect with all of these, but if I can do these things even 3 days a week it makes a huge difference!
