A few things ive been doing recently that help manage my adhd
Not sure if this will help anyone but i've made a list of things ive been working really hard to do to help manage my adhd and general inability to be a functional adult:
Make reminder posters! Get on canva and create personalized posters to put around your room/house to help remind you to do daily things like take your meds, feed pets, take out trash, etc.
Keep a junk notebook! Anything you think of that cant do immediately write it down. If its important it'll help you remember it, if not it saves you from getting distracted or making impulsive decisions. (This is especially helpful if you tend to get distracted when studying!)
CLEAN AS YOU GO! Whether its taking a cup out of your room every time you leave or washing each dish immediately after use. If you can develop this habit it keeps your space so much cleaner!
Have two laundry bins: one for worn but not dirty things and one for dirty things. It limits what ends up on your floor!
Make use of bins. I have several around my apartment that I use for things that dont have a home. Once those bins are full, I go through them and discard or find a permanent home for them.
Don't study/work at home. Even if it means buying a $5 coffee just so you can sit in a spot and effectively work, its much better than getting so behind on tasks you get overwhelmed.
It takes some work to develop habits and im far from perfect with all of these, but if I can do these things even 3 days a week it makes a huge difference!

Athar used thread and a makeshift needle to attach the shelves and dividers in the cardboard closet.

Knit and crochet more, clean less.
I'm finally sharing the simple system and spreadhseet that I have used for years to clean my house. It's based on two-week intervals and it works!
Like everyone, I hate cleaning and I hate the "big clean" even more, so I do this: 👉 https://bit.ly/KnitMoreCleanLess 💜

Literally nobody:
Me, thinking while I organize my apartment: Wookiees wouldn't really need many closets since they don't wear clothes, but they should have a lot of hooks by the entry way for fanny packs, purses, weapons, etc.

my #1 home organization tip is to get a filing cabinet, or at least a file box, with hanging files and tabbed folders. if you need to save anything on paper, you always have a place for it: file it in an existing folder, make a new folder for it, or file it under MISC. you can store your filing supplies inside, under FILING.
"do I need to keep this?" if it's hard to decide, or you want to keep too many things (✋), it's okay to say yes because the cost is low (you already have a filing cabinet, using it is free), and then you get to decide again later all at once! instead of "do I need to keep this 2-year-old tax form?" you file them all together, wait four years, then say, "I don't need these 6-year-old tax forms!" and throw them out all at once!
very few things are more satisfying than getting to say "yes, I have that information, let me consult my files" and then opening a drawer, walking your fingers down a row of labeled tabs, and producing a document.

Full offense but why is home organisation on Pinterest filled with pictures of a ton of neatly organised products. Who the hell buys 4 bottles of the same face cleanser, and stocks an entire drawer with 17 different types of colour coded bags of tea, and buys 10 bottles of detergent? Do people want to have their houses look like a store? Is it hoarder moms who are trying to make it look pretty? 😭😭😭

Does anybody get the same dopamine rush from throwing things away as from buying new things?
There are two categories of things I like throwing away. The first is knick knacks I've been looking at for a long time, which have lost their sparkle and feel like pointless objects taking up space. The second is items that could be useful, but they've been locked away in the back of cupboards or the bottom of trunks, or even just sitting on a shelf, and I have not used them in several years.
I don't want to regret getting rid of something, or miss it, which generally does not happen because if an item is out of sight then I have completely forgotten it exists. A few years ago I had the brilliant idea of taking pictures of things when I throw them away, but this has caused only distress--because now I look through my pictures, stumble onto something, and say "aww I wish I still had that" even though I literally haven't thought of it, elsewise.
Last winter I started sort of casually making a list of all the stuff I keep in storage, or in desk drawers or the like, adding a couple items every day. But the thing is. This is just another list I do not look at. And if I do look at it, sometimes I think "oh I should use that stuff, I should get out my paints and paint something," etc. etc. but I don't because I'm in my sitting quietly era.
I kind of have a vague plan that if I haven't used any of these items by next February, and they're not both Very Important and Irreplacable, I will throw them all out. Books, DVDs, clothes, art supplies, anything. But I don't know if it's Mental Illness to want to get rid of your possessions like that. The apartment is very small, and my parents were terrible hoarders… but some of these possessions have done absolutely nothing wrong. They're cool and joyous objects, I just don't spend enough time digging through my objects and playing with them because it takes energy. I'm much more likely to scroll tumblr and try to find a cool image to save in my personal garbage pile (blog).
