These are overlays for our folders to allow for greater customizability. You can put these over any of our new folders and thus have folders that better match your AAC.

To do so, you need to download the folder symbol you want and open it in an image editing software that has layers and transparency. Open the symbol in the editor, and then download the colour of folder overlay that you want. Make sure you choose either the thick or thin version, depending on which one fits the symbol you have. Open the folder overlay in the editing software and place the layer for it above the layer for the basic symbol.

From there, save it as a PNG, and it should be done. Because the canvas size for these overlays is the same as the canvas size for our folders, you should not need to move anything around to make it match.

Here are some examples of overlays used with some of our folders.

If you are having trouble combining the overlays and folders on your own, send us an ask with the ones you want combined and we will do it for you.

Do you have any tips for folder organization in simply plural? Been fiddling with it for a few days but Im just not sure how to organize everything.

Hiya! Thanks for your question! Simply Plural folder organization can usually be a pain in the behind depending on what you're looking to achieve!

Depending on what you're looking for with organizing your folders, there's a few things to think about:

Are you wanting to organize your members of your account into them? Or are you wanting to use folders as guides or even brief notes? (Shown from our public folders below)

Do you have a need for a specific way of organization of your systems information?

Take a look at this Imgur group link! It shows a bunch of great and different layouts for groups and ideas of how to organize!

How much does your system change? Do you want to possibly have to edit it every day, or do you want to only have to edit it every month or even longer? Do you want to show these changes through groups?

Do you have friends who want to know who's the group™ of protectors? Do you want to have the group view section of each member profile to be organized in a specific way?

What does your system value knowing? Do you think you'd benefit from knowing roles of each member, and or do you think only specific members are going to be organized?

Play around! Mess around! Mess around with it and get a feel for how groups work, what happens when you do x, y, z, understand what happens when you organize certain ways and what you might like and might not like, organize with your system, what layouts do certain people like what what layouts do certain people not like? Trial and Error!

If you have the patience and a good back up plan, practice with huge groups of multiple amounts of information. If you have no patience and can't handle a large amount of information, try working through smaller groups, practice only having a few folders.

There's absolutely so many things you can do and achieve with folders, we have personally gone through so much trial and error with our folders. And have settled on having multiple folders trusted friends only, and then having the Mentioned and shown above public only. While we can't explain in depth our folders as that would take away from the privacy rules we have in place, we hope the link to other System's folders helps! And other systems who see this, definitely offer advice and your own groups if comfortable sharing!
