Seattle Public Library is doing this awesome program called Books Unbanned that allows teens and young adults (ages 13-26) access to their collection of e-books and e-audiobooks from anywhere in the USA. All you need to do is fill out a simple form and you get their Books Unbanned card. Please share this information far and wide. I know they're not the only ones to have done this, but the more the merrier!

An extension for library and book lovers
Library Extension allows you to see if your library has a book you're interested in and put a hold on it without having to go to the library site to do it.
They have extensions for Chrome, Firefox, and Edge.
The extension works for several dozen countries, so it's worth checking if your country is included.
Tumblr media
You then select which country subdivision you live in and which library systems you want to add the extension to.
Tumblr media
Once the library is added in, when you go to shopping sites like Amazon, you should see on the side whether the library has any copies of the book!

My exams are done. I hope i passed the last one. I still haven't gotten the marks back yet so there's still hope. I just have this last job to do and I'll be free of a bit.
I'm still working on my astrology presentation and my deadline is officially on the fifth cuz we'll be filming it on that day. We postponed it a lot but i still don't have it done yet. I don't like how much time it's taken me to write this but it it what it is.
🪐 finished the slides for 3 signs
🪐 finished the slides for 2 planets
I have one last day of working on the slides tomorrow and i have to finish 1 slide for pisces, 5 slides for planets, 12 slides for houses and also 2 slides for introduction. I don't know when I'll do the research and the slides for the aspects so I'm kinda quietly going crazy over that but it has to be done. There is no other way.
I did my Italian lesson on Duolingo today. I've been missing a lot of days there this week. It hasn't been great. I just want this project to be done so i can breathe and do other things. I'll get there. I'll get there.
I found out today that my library won't be working past 7 pm in August so I'll have to go there even earlier tomorrow so i can fit my work in. I'm constantly surprised by how slow i work and how easily i get distracted as if I'm not constantly thinking about my adhd. Wow, my disability disables me daily. Who would have thought.
Go to sleep, love.

Love in the Shadows Pt. 2
Summary:
After the night Azriel saved Y/n, their bond begins to grow as they navigate their roles in the Night Court. A chance encounter leads to a deeper connection, revealing hidden feelings and vulnerabilities.
Word count: 858
Warnings: None
Echoes of Velaris
It had been weeks since the night Azriel had rescued Y/n from the clutches of the rebel group. She had since found a place for herself in Velaris, working at the vast library of the House of Wind. The tranquility of the library, with its endless rows of books and hushed atmosphere, provided a stark contrast to the chaos of that night.
Azriel found himself visiting the library more often. Officially, he was there to research and gather information, but he couldn't deny the pull that drew him to Y/n's presence. His shadows, usually restless and uneasy, seemed to calm when she was near.
One evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a golden glow over Velaris, Azriel entered the library. The soft rustle of pages and the faint scent of aged parchment greeted him. He spotted Y/n at a table near the back, surrounded by stacks of books. Her concentration was evident as she meticulously cataloged each one.
He approached quietly, his shadows swirling in anticipation. "Y/n," he greeted, his voice a gentle murmur.
She looked up, her eyes lighting up with recognition and warmth. "Azriel. What brings you here today?"
"Research," he replied, though he knew it was only part of the truth. "And to see how you're doing."
She smiled, a gesture that always seemed to reach her eyes. "I'm well, thank you. How about you? How are the missions going?"
He nodded, leaning against the table. "As well as can be expected. There's always something to keep me busy."
"Busy is good," she said, returning her attention to the book in front of her. "Keeps the mind occupied."
He watched her for a moment, the way her fingers delicately turned the pages, the way her brow furrowed in concentration. "Have you had any trouble since that night?" he asked, his tone more serious.
She shook her head. "No, thankfully. It's been quiet. I owe you my life, Azriel."
"You don't owe me anything," he replied quickly. "I did what anyone would have done."
"Not anyone," she countered, her gaze meeting his. "You saved me, Azriel. And you've been watching over me ever since. I'm grateful."
A silence fell between them, filled only by the soft sounds of the library. Azriel struggled with the emotions that threatened to surface. He had spent so long guarding his heart, but Y/n had a way of breaking through his defenses.
"Would you like to take a walk?" he asked suddenly, surprising himself as much as her. "The evening is beautiful, and the streets are quiet."
She hesitated for a moment, then nodded. "I'd like that."
They left the library together, stepping into the cool night air. Velaris was a city of light and magic, the stars above mirrored by the twinkling lights below. As they walked, Azriel felt a sense of peace he rarely experienced.
They strolled through the quiet streets, the sounds of the city a distant hum. Azriel found himself opening up in a way he hadn't expected, sharing stories of his past, of his role as the Spymaster, and the burdens that came with it.
Y/n listened intently, her presence a soothing balm. She shared her own stories, of her life before the Night Court, the struggles she had faced, and the dreams she held for the future.
As they reached the edge of the Sidra River, they paused, the water shimmering under the moonlight. Azriel turned to her, his heart pounding. "Y/n, there's something I need to tell you."
She looked up at him, her expression open and trusting. "What is it, Azriel?"
He took a deep breath, the words he had held back for so long finally finding their way out. "I care about you, more than I should. More than I ever thought I could. You've become important to me, Y/n, and I don't know what to do with these feelings."
A moment of silence stretched between them, the air charged with unspoken emotions. Then, Y/n reached out, her hand gently touching his. "I've felt the same way, Azriel. From the moment you saved me, I knew there was something special about you."
He looked into her eyes, the depth of their connection overwhelming him. Slowly, he took her hand in his, drawing strength from her touch. "I don't want to hide anymore," he whispered.
"Then don't," she replied softly, her eyes shining with affection. "We're in this together."
In that moment, under the starry sky of Velaris, Azriel felt a new kind of strength—a bond forged not in shadows and secrets, but in love and trust. And as they stood by the Sidra River, he knew that whatever challenges lay ahead, they would face them together.Author's Note: Thank you for reading! I hope you enjoyed this continuation of Azriel and Y/n's story. Feel free to leave comments and let me know your thoughts!

Today's recommendations are all books I've borrowed from my local libraries and loved, including audiobooks from Libby and Hoopla. I've visited the library more as an adult than I ever did when I was younger, and I'm so glad for all queer books I've discovered there.
And in case you were wondering, my book Phantom and Rook is available through Hoopla and Libby, and can be requested in your local library. One of the best things you can do for indie authors is request their book in your library's catalog, or click that little 'notify me' tab in Libby.

It Belongs In A Museum
"John ... I thought you said this was a library?" Sherlock turned a corner and found himself in the middle of what instead appeared to be ... a museum?
John meanwhile, rounded the corner and came crashing into a halted Sherlock.
He looked the taller man up and down before peering about the room before them. Trying to see what might have arrested his flatmate's attention?
John's breath caught.
.
Hanging on every available inch of the walls ...
. Were brilliant works of art, in every style and fashion ...
Full sized paintings ... hand drawn sketches ... and mostly digital works ... some full color, some in a manga or comic book art style ... but all featuring ...
. "It's ... it's us?"
.
John asked, stunned.
The question had also paralyzed the detective. Try as he might ... he simply could not compute the sheer amount of time and effort that had been put into this lovingly curated hall of art works ... ?
"John ... are you seeing-?"
. "What you're seeing ... ?" John finished for him, "yeah mate." He nodded imperceptibly. Unable to tear his eyes away from the mesmerizing pictures that graced the gallery walls.
His tongue darted out to wet his lips, as he caught a glimpse of something he definitely wanted a closer look at! And he was off ... Sherlock hard on his heels.
They spun about, smiling ... laughing ... tugging each other to see and comment on various pieces ... catching themselves eyeing each other with newfound wonder as they explored ... and often a hand over their mouths as they suppressed the joy that threatened to spill over like an uncorked bottle of champagne!
John had never seen Sherlock so animated, as when he was choosing his favourite image of John and having John imitate - or try as he might - NOT imitate - the position or stance that the artist had put them in ...
They landed on the floor laughing and rolling in each others arms after chasing each other around the silent gallery ...
Until John remembered - they were in a gallery! or what was supposed to be a LIBRARY! - and he hushed Sherlock with a finger to his lips ... Following it with a hesitant ... and careful kiss.
Their first.
Sherlock blinked.
"How long has this been going on, John?" he asked, needing to know more. John shrugged, his smile deepening even as he flattened himself against the ground and simply enjoyed the feel of Sherlock in his arms ... The man was gorgeous with his hair all aglow in the gallery lighting ...
. "I honestly don't know, Sherlock," he replied ... tugging the detective down by his shirt front for another good snog ... "but I'm guessing they all noticed it before we did?"
. Sherlock hummed in acknowledgement. Accepting John's lips and the warmth of his nearness like a glove that fit only too well ...
.
John felt a twinge in his back at being on the cold, hard floor too long though - and pushed Sherlock off of him, playfully - rising and helping the man to his feet.
"Guess we should see what we came here for?" John offered, leading the way, "think the library is back here? Ah!" He flicked on a lightswitch behind a pair of double doors ... and a
. "WHOA!!!!"
Slipped out of their mouths simultaneously ... jaws dropping.
As the darkened warehouse before them flickered to life, row ... by illuminated row ...
Revealing hundreds ... if not thousands ... NO ... HUNDREDS of thousands!!! Of stories ...
. Written about ... them?
.
John winked at Sherlock.
Before dashing ahead in a mad chase. Each grabbing up several volumes apiece and meeting to read a few pages ...
. "Look at this one!"
. "John - you won't believe-!" "Sherlock!" "John!"
. "This is-" "-I'm taking this one!" "This is brilliant!"
. "We're in a sci-fi!" "oooh an epic!" "OHmyGOD!"
John's giggling could be heard a few rows down, and Sherlock tucked another in his pocket and swung around the shelving to peruse over John's shoulder.
His jaw dropped.
"I think ..." John grinned wickedly "... I've found the E rated section ...!"
Sherlock's eyes grew wide as saucers and he tore the book from John's hands ... devouring pages at a time! Then he looked up at the rows and rows of shelves, his gaze glossing towards empty - but John could see he was critically engaged in making a heavy calculation.
"Verdict?" John asked, smirking. Having allowed the great genius to do his mental gymnastics.
"I think we're going to need more bookshelves at Baker Street," Sherlock stated, "... and we may need to try everything suggested."
"For science?" John asked, solemnly.
"For science," Sherlock agreed. Hiding his own burgeoning grin.
Then they both stood. Sheepishly looking down at their own feet ... and then at the rows and rows of unexplored fiction they could wander through ... endlessly ... nightly ... for the rest of their lives ...
.
"John ... ?" Sherlock asked, then, quietly. As if whispering in a holy room, "... what did you say this place was called again?'
He was a boy again. Full of wonder.
.
John smiled. Recognizing the dawn of a new era of their lives. He answered, just as solemnly,
"I'd say it was ... an archive of our own?"
.
Then he met Sherlock's adoring eyes,
. ... as the lights above ... winked.

My regular streaming site 🏴‍☠️ has been totally tanking in quality and I haven’t been wanting to t*rrent without a better VPN but I’m so happy I got an old Blu-ray and DVD player and found a remote, so now I can walk to my local library and grab some discs and watch old movies on my portable television.
The TV is ancient, bequeathed to me by my grandpa when he and grandma got a nicer model. I think it’s at least 18 years old, and portable only in the sense that 40 pounds and 3x2.5’ is not too heavy to set on a coffee table, then hide away afterwards. I think the player might be 18 years old or so. I didn’t have a remote until today, so I’ve been lucky the discs have just autoplayed without stranding me on a click-menu. But now I can turn on subtitles properly with the remote and understand what’s going on. 😭
Anyways, I can’t believe I’d forgotten you can just go to the library and get access to high quality media! For free! With subtitles transcribed by real people!
Since I got the player, I watched some of the Planet of the Apes films, which looked stunning compared to the compression of streaming, and got to watch so many films that just aren’t streaming outside of rentals: The Birdcage, Boogie Nights, and LA Confidential. Tomorrow, I hope I’ll get to Fargo.
Physical media is pretty dope and collective ownership to its access is even better. So happy libraries exist and I don’t have to own the clutter of discs and boxes to enjoy movies in good quality.

14/100 days of productivity

Tumblr media
Finally got myself to go to the public library. I know i enjoy working there but sometimes it's really difficult to get myself to leave the house even though i know it's impossible for me to be productive in the house. So today was a well planned, well executed success.
🪐 planned out my exam prep for the accounting final
🪐 finished notes for chapter 10 of accounting
I have a make-up exam in principles of accounting at the end of the month and i need to get at least 20 points on the 40 point exam. Honestly, i think i can do it.
I missed almost five days of work because i thought my brand new laptop had crashed and took it to get checked and turns out it was some ludicrous stupid problem that didn't need any repairs and I'd wasted five days on nothing. It's good that the laptop was completely fine though, I'm grateful.
I've been keeping up with my Italian on Duolingo and I'm hoping to start actually studying it soon. Gotta learn the basics like the alphabet and the pronunciation and all that. I'm very excited.
I should be going to bed now cuz my eyes burn.
I love you. Don't be a stranger.

|| Just Us Today | Wonwoo Oneshot
I was sitting in the library, trying to focus on this book for class, but my brain wasn’t really cooperating. Out of nowhere, I heard footsteps and glanced up to see Wonwoo walking in, hands in his pockets, looking like he owned the place without even trying. He had that relaxed vibe, the one where he seems chill but you know he's got a lot going on inside his head. Typical Wonwoo
He noticed me and gave this small, shy smile — you know, the one where his eyes crinkle a bit, but it’s subtle, like he doesn’t want to make a big deal out of it. I could feel my heart do a weird little flip, but I tried to play it cool, like always. I wasn’t about to let him see me flustered, even though, let’s be real, I kinda was.
"Hey," he said, sitting down next to me like it was the most normal thing in the world, even though I felt like I was about to explode from nerves.
I shrugged, trying to act nonchalant, and held up my book. "Just studying, y'know, nothing exciting."
He peered at the cover, pushing his glasses up a bit. "That doesn’t seem like something you’d read for fun," he chuckled softly. It was such a Wonwoo thing to say. He wasn’t the type to call you out or anything; he’d just make this small observation and let you figure the rest out.
I laughed awkwardly. "Yeah, well, it’s for school, so it’s not like I have a choice."
Wonwoo nodded, his attention shifting back to his coffee cup. He took a slow sip, staring off into space like he was lost in his own thoughts again. Sometimes I wished I could know what was going on in his head because it always felt like there was this whole other world he lived in that no one else could see.
"So, what’s up?" I asked, breaking the silence before it got weird. "You don’t usually come to the library unless you’re on some kind of mission."
He raised an eyebrow, giving me a side-eye but still smiling a little. "A mission? Really?" He leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms. "Maybe I just wanted to hang out."
Now my heart was really racing, but I still played it cool. "Oh, so you’re *that* bored, huh?"
He laughed, shaking his head. "Nah, not bored. Just… I like hanging out with you."
Okay, now I was definitely flustered. I could feel my face heating up, but I tried to hide it by looking down at my book, pretending I had to check something. But I could still feel him watching me.
"Anyway," he continued, clearly not noticing (or pretending not to notice) my mini freak-out, "I actually came here to ask if you wanted to grab something to eat after this. There’s this new ramen place downtown, and I heard it’s pretty good."
My brain short-circuited for a second. Was this… was this actually happening? Was Wonwoo asking me to hang out, like, outside of school? Sure, we’d talked a bunch before, but it was always casual, nothing like this. I had to calm down before I said something stupid.
"Uh, yeah, that sounds cool," I said, trying to sound as chill as possible. "I’m down."
He smiled again, this time a bit wider, and it felt like my heart was gonna explode. He stood up, adjusting his backpack. "Cool, I’ll wait for you outside when you’re done."
And with that, he gave a small wave and walked out, leaving me sitting there, staring after him like an idiot. I tried to focus on my book again, but who was I kidding? There was no way I was going to be able to think about anything other than the fact that I was about to go on a ramen date with Wonwoo.
After about ten minutes of pretending to read, I finally closed my book and shoved it into my bag, not caring if I actually finished the assignment or not. I grabbed my things and practically ran out of the library, where I found Wonwoo leaning against the wall, scrolling through his phone. He looked up when he saw me and smiled again. How was he so effortlessly cool all the time?
"Ready?" he asked, slipping his phone into his pocket.
"Yep," I replied, probably a little too eager, but whatever.
We walked together to the ramen place, and it was one of those easy, comfortable silences the whole way there. Wonwoo wasn’t the type to force conversation, and I liked that about him. It felt natural, not like I had to fill the silence with random talk just to keep things going.
When we got there, the smell of ramen hit me instantly, and my stomach growled embarrassingly loud. Wonwoo chuckled. "Guess we made it just in time."
We ordered our food and found a table near the window. As we ate, we talked about random stuff — favorite books, music, how stressful school was. It wasn’t anything deep or life-changing, but it felt nice. Being with Wonwoo always felt easy, like I didn’t have to pretend to be someone I wasn’t.
At one point, he looked up from his bowl, noodles hanging halfway out of his mouth, and gave me this amused look. "You’ve got a little something… right there," he said, pointing to his own cheek.
I wiped at my face, but he shook his head. "No, not there. Here." He reached across the table and wiped the spot himself, his touch light and quick, but enough to make me freeze.
"Thanks," I mumbled, feeling like my face was on fire.
He just smiled, going back to his food like it was no big deal, but I couldn’t stop thinking about how close he had been just now.
We finished eating, and as we left the restaurant, Wonwoo turned to me, his hands stuffed into his pockets again. "Today was fun. We should do this more often."
I nodded, still trying to process the fact that this whole day had actually happened. "Yeah, definitely."
He gave me one last smile before turning to head home. "See you tomorrow?" he called over his shoulder.
"Yeah," I called back, watching him walk away.
I couldn’t help but smile to myself as I walked in the opposite direction. It might’ve been a normal day for everyone else, but for me, it felt like something had changed. Something good.
