I took my giant base-only LC pot from the dumpster at the mall I worked at. Thrown away from the shop because it had one little chip on the bottom inside. It was otherwise perfectly strong, no chance of the chip spreading. A wash and a little oil to protect the cast iron inside. BAM $700 free pot. I was so fucking excited. That pot cost more than a week's wages to me, just tossed away.

This is going to be a very practical answer...if someone was to give me $1000 right now I would put it towards furnishing my new apartment that I'll be moving into soon. So maybe a fridge? 😂 Or a fancy espresso machine? Or a couple of Le Crueset pots? An airfryer? A fancy blender? Actually you know what? Practical or not, I love buying kitchenware so I would probably do that in any situation. Just go mad in a homewares store.

thank you for the question! though, because only Siva & Inez were brought up culturally Christian, I'm going to change it to be "what would the characters be excited to receive as a gift" 🌱

Baker - le crueset casserole in soleil or volcanic

Siva - a new pump for the aquarium, perhaps some big, old, outdated books about snails from a charity shop with some dude's notes written in biro in the margins

Alestes - £100 in gift cards. the kind where you can buy from pretty much any shop or restaurant.

Noor - onsen trip - I'm thinking the kind that's in the mountains, with great food (there are Buddhist ones which are vegan), a view of a magnificent lake, and tall forests

Inez - blacksmithing lessons. hit hot thing hard with heavy thing. but also skill and artistry. (they go because they need a highly specific tool that nobody has invented yet)

Anh - for some reason my first thought was surf board, so I'm sticking with that. 🤙🏼

I thought I'd acquired a pot and pan set from a coworker, but the boxes only contained dishes and small appliances like a Toaster and a George Foreman grill.

So, I'm going to need to go find a set, and Google's telling me to go to the Le Crueset outlet, which is awesome if I want to pay $200 for a 6 inch pan. There used to be a nice kitchen outlet at the outlet mall, but they closed it and it's something dumb now.
