I had a dream that butch latines started calling themselves “naranjas” and that femme latines would ask if they could have fruit from their tree as a way to let them know they were interested. And I think we should make this an actual thing because that’s so cute. It reminds me of the phrase “mi media naranja”

Gender inclusive language in LatAm
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I hear way too many people saying we don't use the X or that gender inclusive language is an American invention... which?? no?? I can assure you as a 25 year old Chileno that it's been a thing pretty much my whole life. Before the X and the E people used the @ or tried mentioning both the male and female terminations (niños y niñas, chicos y chicas, etc).
Assuming that feminism, gender inclusivity and non-binary identities are a USA-centric issue is, ironically, USA-centric. In Chile the Rapanui, Mapuche, Likanantay, Aymara and Quechua indigenous people all had vocabulary for those we would consider LGBT+ today. I'm sure other Latinos can say the same for their own countries.

Somos valides

istg fucking gringos are the ONLY ONE who question wether they're latine or not WHILE LIVING IN FUCKING CHICAGO and without having spoken a single spanish word in their lives. yet they feel somehow entitled to go around saying some bullshit about "Argentina is white" "they don't consider themselves latinos!1!1!".
the thing is: here in the ACTUAL LATIN AMERICA we don't go around showing PERFORMATIVE ethnicity identities, cause that's all that it is right? putting on a show try and belong and claim something that's NOT YOURS from the natives, right? just like old times for you guys.
you're trying so hard to be the attraction of the circus and CONGRATS you've made it, you're making yourselves the biggest clown the world has ever seen

Not even slightly Latin American but the thing with rice is there's a bunch of ways to eat rice. I prefer loose rice when the rice is its own thing (by itself or as a main side to a meat dish) but I understand that in some contexts sticky rice is required.
I don't know much about Latin American cuisine but I know that risotto is a big thing in Spanish cuisine and I think you need sticky rice for that?
Reblog for sample size etc
