Happy Halloween!

Sandman Inktober was a blast! Wrapping up my little run with some Bob's Burgers inspired costumes + more kid fic AU. Kian gets to be Peter Pan's Labyrinth, Dream is Billy Idol-ish, and Regular-Sized-Hobsie is Paul Rudd in 'I Love You, Man'. (Tulip is either a bat or a cat, neither Hob nor Dream know for sure. Matthew is just a dirty candy thief)

Chilchuck analysis speedrun: As a hardworking half-foot who grew up poor and discriminated against and had his gullibility taken advantage of multiple times in his early adventuring days, Chilchuck thinks optimism is a dangerous flaw. He’s stressed and strict all the time because his job is noticing details like traps that could get everyone killed before anyone knows it, he takes the lives of everyone to be on his shoulders, and with the way he speaks about it that probably partly reflects how he felt about taking it upon himself to provide for his family too. His life’s always been pretty centered around work and has become even moreso now that his wife left and everyone is independent, and due to past events he’s very iffy with bonding with coworkers. He thinks feelings and job are a disaster mix. Like with his wife or with parties hiring him as sacrifice, being open or having good faith is vulnerability which can get you hurt, so he processes and shows all his stress as anger instead of worry. Doing strict dieting probably isn’t helping the irritability what with hunger, and on top of being a hunger suppressant alcohol might be the main stress reliever he has.

I am being so for real when I say that I have had a fanart of Runaan and Ethari as my phone background for the better part of FIVE YEARS, and this month, finally, I will be able to change it to the moment when they actually reunite in the show.

I am feeling many emotions regarding this, none of which help me as I am trying to finish my college work for the semester.

Oh. My. Word. It has taken 32 months, over two and a half years, and 2 NaNoWriMo events, but I have done it. I have finished the first draft of Duty Bound.

*dances with reckless abandon*

Now I only have *checks notes* 44 chapters to add C, D, and E plots to, correct for continuity, and polish up so they can be given to my beta. But guys. This story might actually finish. You might see the end of Duty Bound this year.

(No promises though, don't hold me to it, please. I can't handle the pressure.)

If I remember correctly you created Machete around 2007-2008. But when did you create Vasco? (I'm sorry of this has been asked before, I couldn't find anything)

First finished pictures of Vasco are from 2018, but even before that I had been thinking it would be interesting if Machete had had one (1) romantic relationship in his youth before he was ordained. I just didn't have a name and design for him yet.

In the earliest sketches of Vasco, he first looked a little bit like a bordercollie, then like a spaniel or a setter. He had a darker color palette as well, sort of chestnut brown with white markings, but combined with the overpowering whiteness of Machete he looked kind of impassionate and drab, so I kept making him warmer and lighter until he became the golden boy he is today. The name came later, I just thought Vasco sounded friendly and charismatic. (Also the old finnish word 'vaski' means brass and bronze, and even if it's a tedious connection and doesn't factor into their canon at all, it felt too fitting to me personally and I had to go with it).
