GOP candidate for governor in North Carolina, Mark Robinson, vows to stay in race despite shocking revelations
Mark Robinson, North Carolina’s sitting Lieutenant Governor, was a controversial, extremist candidate when he was nominated as the GOP candidate for North Carolina governor. He had a history of making misogynistic, incendiary statements that should have disqualified him from holding any public office. See Newsweek, Mark Robinson: Full List of North Carolina Candidate's Controversies. Robinson has described the Holocaust as “hogwash,” has called Muslims “invaders,” has mocked school shooting survivors, and has been hostile to LGBTQ people, especially transgender people.
Despite his past controversies, Republicans nominated Robinson as their candidate for governor. Democrats nominated Josh Stein, who is currently leading in the polls.
On Thursday, CNN released a devastating report titled, Mark Robinson, NC GOP nominee for governor, called himself a ‘black NAZI!,’ supported slavery in past comments made on porn forum.
This deeply researched article begins as follows:
Mark Robinson, the controversial and socially conservative Republican nominee for governor of North Carolina, made a series of inflammatory comments on a pornography website’s message board more than a decade ago, in which he referred to himself as a “black NAZI!” and expressed support for reinstating slavery, a CNN KFile investigation found. Despite a recent history of anti-transgender rhetoric, Robinson said he enjoyed watching transgender pornography, a review of archived messages found in which he also referred to himself as a “perv.” The comments, which Robinson denies making, predate his entry into politics and current stint as North Carolina’s lieutenant governor. They were made under a username that CNN was able to identify as Robinson by matching a litany of biographical details and a shared email address between the two.
It gets worse from there, folks.
Robinson has denied that he made the comments and suggested that they were created by hackers.
The North Carolina GOP released a statement on Thursday backing Robinson, claiming the allegations are false. Trump has previously endorsed Robinson, saying that Robinson is
Martin Luther King on steroids. I told that to Mark. I said, ‘I think you’re better than Martin Luther King. I think you are Martin Luther King times two.
As of Friday, September 20, it is too late for Robinson to drop out of the race.
This newest controversy is bad news for Trump and good news for all Democrats on the ballot in North Carolina in November. If Kamala Harris can beat Trump in North Carolina, there is almost no path to victory for Trump. As Mitch McConnell famously said, Republicans have a “candidate quality” problem. And that problem starts at the top.

[excerpt:]
In an earnings call with investors, [executive chairman and CEO of Madison Square Garden Company] Dolan said U2’s success has spurred interest in the entertainment world.
“The incredible response to U2’s run at Sphere has only increased interest from the artist community to play the venue, and we’re having conversations with artists across a wide variety of genres, including discussing runs of varying lengths,” he said. “We expect to host two additional residencies in the second half of this fiscal year (January through June) and look forward to sharing more details.”

Las Vegas, be careful with Oakland A's owner, John Fisher because he will NOT SPEND MONEY
Get ready, Las Vegas. When John Fisher comes to your town, you better prepare yourself. After reading over some Las Vegas media this week, it does seem that most in the area understand the many financial issues that come along with rooting for a team owned by John Fisher. I have also seen some who are just happy getting a baseball team, while others believe that there is a chance of Las Vegas…

The Dunes sign was completed November 1964, with a lighting ceremony on Nov. 12th.
At 180-feet, it was the world’s tallest electrical sign, substantially exceeding previous neon landmarks in Las Vegas. It was designed by Lee Klay and built by Federal Sign & Signal Corp.
“Official opening (‘opening?’) of the Dunes high rise marquee takes place Nov. 12 when the sign is turned on. Local dignitaries, Dunes bosses, and exec of the Federal Sign & Signal Corp, builders of the beauty, will officiate.” - Forrest Duke. Review-Journal, 11/8/64
“The world’s largest free standing sign is under construction at the Dunes hotel … 180 ft tall, 80 ft wide … ‘Dunes’ letters are each 20 ft high … It will consume more power to keep itself lit than the entire Dunes Hotel uses today. The Federal Sign and Signal Corp. people have even constructed a monorail system just so two employees can service the sign on a full time basis.” - Murray Hertz. New Dunes Sign May Shake Blasé Vegans. Review-Journal, 10/1/64 p10.

It’s shaping up to be a brutal Monday for the Harris campaign.
- The Las Vegas Journal Review endorsed Trump.
- The Border Patrol Union endorsed Trump.
- Kamala got caught plagiarizing.
- The IACRL condemned Kamala for her hateful remarks.
- Kamala’s campaign is leaking about the rift between her and Biden.
- Kamala short-circuited during another softball interview.
- Bill Clinton blamed Kamala for the death of Laken Riley.
- New polling shows Harris performing the worst of any Democrat candidate among Black women since 1960.
The joy is gone

Two Nevada men accused of damaging rock formations estimated to be 140 million years old at the Lake Mead National Recreation Area back in April are facing charges and potential prison time.
Wyatt Clifford Fain, 37, and Payden David Guy Cosper, 31, each face a federal indictment for one count of injury and depredation of government property and one count of aiding and abetting, The Associated Press reported.
A trial has been set for Oct. 8, and the men could each face up to 10 years in prison if convicted, the U.S. Department of Justice said.
Fain and Cosper, both of Henderson, were arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service and made their first court appearance on Friday. They both pleaded not guilty and were released on a personal recognizance bond, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.
The men allegedly can be seen on video posted to social media pushing boulders until they fell in front of a screaming little girl. That happened on April 7 on the Redstone Dunes Trail.
The trail is 1.1 miles round trip, according to the National Park Service (NPS). The rocks and caves in the area are a result of erosion and weathering.
"Over time, geological forces turned the loose dunes into hard sandstone," the NPS website says.
The Lake Mead National Recreation Area, just outside of Las Vegas, draws around 6 million visitors every year and spans 2,344 square miles of mountains and desert canyons.
Authorities said staffing levels mean park officials often rely on the public to also keep watch over resources within park boundaries.
The damage as a result of the rock formations being pushed over a cliff edge is estimated at more than $1,000.

A former Las Vegas-area Democratic elected official was sentenced Wednesday to serve at least 28 years in Nevada state prison for killing an investigative journalist who wrote articles critical of his conduct in office two years ago and exposed an intimate relationship with a female coworker. A judge invoked sentencing enhancements for use of a deadly weapon and the age of the reporter to add eight years to the minimum 20-years-to-life sentence that a jury set in August after finding Robert Telles guilty of first-degree murder. “The judge couldn’t sentence him to any more time,” Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson said after telling reporters the sentence represented justice for the community. “She gave him the maximum.” Telles, 47, testified in his defense at trial, denying he stabbed Las Vegas Review-Journal reporter Jeff German to death in September 2022. But evidence against him was strong — including his DNA beneath German’s fingernails. Telles was the administrator of a county office that handles unclaimed estate and probate cases when he was arrested and jailed without bail several days after German’s murder. He was stripped of his elected position weeks later.

Gwen Stefani ruptured her eardrum and was forced to cancel her scheduled Las Vegas performance on Thursday, April 27, Daily Mail reports.
On the advice of her doctors, the No Doubt frontwoman, 47, was unable to fly from L.A. to Sin City, so she had to pull out of the annual Power of Love gala at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that Stefani was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles after her eardrum ruptured, which happened during a flight on Tuesday, April 25.
According to Daily Mail, an announcer told guests before the dinner that Stefani could not travel or perform her 30-minute live set due to the unexpected medical emergency. The singer filmed a brief video in which she apologized for missing the charity event. “I am so sorry that I cannot attend tonight, But I wanted to send a message of congratulations to Andre Agassi and my dear friend Ronald Pearlman,” she said in the clip.

Las Vegas Review-Journal | September 22, 2023 Updated September 25, 2023
By John Katsilometes
The music universe seems to be visiting Vegas this weekend. But a performer not in town is creating buzz around the amps.
Harry Styles is in the center of reports from informed individuals he will be the next Sphere headliner announced. This is not formally confirmed, but word is Styles would launch his series in March.
Styles and Phish have been name-dropped consistently among those familiar with The Sphere’s booking plans. Trey Anastasio’s band was held up as a top contender for New Year’s Eve. Not anymore. Phish has announced four NYE dates at Madison Square Garden to close the calendar.
Combining yet-to-be-formalized plans, look for Phish at The Sphere in April, after Styles.
Styles has also been held up as a performer for the Super Bowl halftime show at Allegiant Stadium in February. Such an appearance would serve as a wonderful way to announce a show in Vegas. But those who know Styles’ plans say he is not planning on performing at the Super Bowl.
But Styles is an apt fit for The Sphere. It’s far easier to list the reasons why he’d play the glorious globe than not. In 2022, Styles sold out a 15-show residency at Madison Square Garden. He’s a hitmaker, with “Harry’s House” winning the Grammy Award for Album of the Year.
The first single from that album, “As It Was.” was the No. 1 song internationally by Billboard calculations.
Also, Styles’ sequined bodysuits and boas delight all variety of fan.
And Styles is managed by Irving Azoff’s Full Stop Management entertainment agency. Azoff, who runs the company with his son Jeffrey, is entertainment industry royalty. Azoff the elder is reportedly involved in booking The Sphere as a consultant with venue partner Madison Square Garden Entertainment.
Another of Azoff’s clients: U2. At The Sphere, everything comes full circle.

Las Vegas seems addicted to handing over taxpayer money to sports teams
Las Vegas loves to do big things. They love their casinos, and they really love handing over millions of taxpayer dollars to rich owners of professional sports teams. With the most recent news of the Oakland A’s wanting taxpayer money from the city of Las Vegas, I thought I would quickly go over some of their most recent deals to build sports teams a new home. To be fair to Las Vegas, they…
