Dear Gus & Magnus,

I interviewed Larry Taylor on the podcast today. He grew up close to the Garver office back when it was on Battery Street in Little Rock and he would see guys in button-down shirts and ties every day and he wanted to be one of them. He went to school to learn how to be a drafter, then he took his degree into that office he passed every day and asked for a job.

They put him on the survey team in the field for five years, then he went back to school to get an engineering degree. He helped Garver make the transition to computers when they came along and he's basically been on the IT Team ever since.

Forty six years at Garver. More than four times the duration that I've been here. I can't imagine.

Carlos Santana needed Supernatural. I know – what? Why would a musician of his stature have to do something like this? Well, I would suggest that a record in the vein of Supernatural introduces many to an important musician by showing his influence. For instance The Healer by John Lee Hooker �� I maintain Carlos Santana working there got him a clue for his later triumph – might not be his best LP. However, a lot of people noticed the platter, because the entire thing was meant as Hooker's commercial comeback. Of course, that did occur – a multitude of disc of that sort do succeed – and we should also be thankful The Healer served as a good entry point for Mr. Hooker. Yes, these albums are basically the SparkNotes for their musicians.
