When you find a large rock in your garden, you leave it exactly where you found it so it can continue to think about things ...

Blackrock Summit and Amazing Views Beyond (Shenandoah National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: A setting looking to the north-northwest while taking in views across the large boulder and rock formation at the summit of Blackrock in Shenandoah National Park. In composing this image, I chose to take advantage of what I felt where the layers present with the foreground interest of the rock formations and then the forest covered ridges and peaks of the Northern Blue Ridge. I also liked the contrast of looks between those two types of setting. I angled my Nikon Z8 Mirrorless Camera slightly downward to bring the horizon higher into the image and minimize what I felt was the negative space of the overcast skies.

Before we were a couple, my husband and I were at a lake, throwing rocks of varying size into the water to see how big of a splash we could make. I tried to record him on my phone, but missed the beginning of what he said, so all I captured was him saying "but only for science" and then chucking a rock. This was over a decade ago and he still ends sentences with "but only for science" sometimes.

Ambrose continued with his many rock thoughts despite feeling a disturbance in his day ... Captain Blackbeard pondered his mildly lofty predicament and coughed politely ... Ambrose sighed and enquired after the problem ... Captain Blackbeard expressed himself uncertain as to what to do next ... Ambrose smiled to himself, tweaked a single (but exceptionally well chosen) cat hair and helped Captain Blackbeard to find his roar ... UnPerra kept his thoughts to himself and merely smirked a little into the grass ...

There, in a meadow, by the river’s side (Great Smoky Mountains National Park)

There, in a meadow, by the river’s side (Great Smoky Mountains National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: There, in a meadow, by the river’s side The caption used is from a poem by Edmund Spenser, Prothalamion While at a roadside pullout and parking area along the Newfound Gap Road (US Hwy 441) in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. This view is looking upstream and to the north-northeast at the Oconaluftee River flowing by with rapids present amongst the large rocks and boulders. In composing this image, I just let the focus be with the river as a leading line into the image and framing the setting with the forest of trees on both sides.

The Last Airbender (2010) is better than the netflix adaptation because the art created by an unstoppable force (weird auteur director who's whole oeuvre is awkward, tongue in cheek horror movies) and an immovable object (studio execs desperately trying to crank out an inoffensive family fantasy movie to be their own bespoke harry potter) coming together to taxidermy the acclaimed 9.3/10 on IMDB source material into one of the most inscrutable films of all time is just inherently more worthwhile than a show that's primary goal is to meekly regurgitate the events of the original story in a roughly accurate and nostalgic way in the hopes that The Fans will think it's better than M Night Shyamalan
