I've lived in the same apartment for nearly a decade, and as sad as I am to leave it, I'm very excited to live in a full house where I can have a little office/ferret room.

I just bought the boys a new 72″ cat tree and I’m so excited!!! Picture below is from the Chewy website lol, those aren’t my cats.
Tumblr media
I’ll post their old tree below. That picture is mine haha, hence my two black cats, well one is sort of hiding in the box. I think their old cat tree was like 78″. It was a little too tall, but the boys loved sitting way up high. I think the new one will be the perfect height and it has 3 seats perfect for all 3 cats. I’ll definitely post pictures once it’s all set up and the boys are on it!

"You don't have a Christmas tree??? :0"
Okay, setting aside the fact that not everyone celebrates Christmas for a hot moment
I need people to be aware what a privilege having a Christmas tree actually is?
Having enough free space already or being able to move stuff around to make place for a whole fucking in your living space? I don't have that.
Having the money and other means (transportation) to even aquire a fucking tree in the first place? Plus the decorations? Not everyone has that.
Having enough money to be able to waste it on a tree you'll keep for a few weeks until it's dead only to then throw it out, just so it looks pretty and because it's traditional? Again, not everyone can afford that.
Or wants to, for that matter.
It's expensive, it's a waste, it's dirty. You are constantly cleaning needles off the floor.
"Just get a small artificial one :)"
That still costs money and is still a waste, and now it's also worse for the environment
And not everyone WANTS it. Because not everyone celebrates Christmas
People are so weirdly hung up on the tree thing. I've been called a grinch for it???
Bruh I live alone and don't celebrate Christmas. Leave me alone

Sometimes i forget how beautiful the place i live in really is. A few days ago i was walking back home through the shaded path and i looked back at the path and went 'wow' bc i was suddenly hit with realization that the place i live in is fucking beautiful and i never want to forget that
Tumblr media
(You can see a bit of my house's green fence on the right side of the photo)
honestly the human brain is so small that you *will* forget how much beauty there is out there to experience unless you leave your house every three days. ik its fucked up but i promise its true
#witchy reblogs#i just#since that experience i've come to appreciate the place i live in#bc it shouldn't be taken for granted#the fact that i live in a nice house#with a large garden#surrounded by green and trees#in a kibbutz#it shouldn't be taken for granted at all#i love the simple beauties of living in a place like this#i can go around petting cats and picking fruit from trees that aren't inside gardens#every pecan season i grab a bucket and go through the ~10 trees in my area and fill it twice#and the pecans last us for a long time#and every mulberry season on the way home i pick some and eat on the way and get home with hands stained purple#i also have an afgan mulberry tree in our garden and it gives huge berries (as afgan mulberries usually do)#and they're always so sweet and tasty#i just love living here#and i can literally just. decide to go on a walk#and get to a small river in roughly 15 minutes of walking#and pick blackberries and munch fennel leaves on the way#and say hi to the cows and the bees and sometimes the horses#there used to be a huge fallen tree next to the pond which the kindergartners used to climb on when they went there for a hike#but they cut most of it down wich was sad and i still don't understand why. that fallen tree was a big part of a lot of people's childhood#memories including mine#but it's still very nice there. and in winter the whole erea of the hills turnes pink under the pine tree bc there are so so much cyclamen#and it's so so beautiful there. there are also lots of red tulips and anemones of all colors and so much different flowers and its always#so beautiful#i know most if not all variations of the way to hike around the small river. its always so pretty there#man i just. love this place and its nature#always so so beautiful

This might seem a bit silly but. We're getting new windows put in tomorrow. This is a window in my bedroom that's never been changed since the house was built in the 50s. It's a latch window, it's single glazed, and the wooden frame has been rotting for as long as I can remember. But I love this window. I love using the latch to open it on a hot day to get the most breeze possible into my room. I love the aesthetic of this old window on our house that has had many renovations over the years. I've lived in this house since '99 when I was only 18 months old, and the room this window is in has been my bedroom since about 2004. So I'm going to miss it a lot. It feels weird to be sad about a window but that's where I'm at right now.

Besties: Me and my Cat (CC Pack for The Sims 4)
Introducing "Besties (Part 2): Me and My Cat" CC Pack!
I'm super excited to bring you the second part of the Besties series, now focusing on our beloved feline friends! In the first part, I shared with you guys a collection all about the beautiful bond between dogs and babies. For this second part, I thought I’d switch things up a bit. Instead of focusing on cats and babies, I wanted to highlight something just as heartwarming—the special relationship between cats and adults. Yes, you guessed it, I’m talking about the delightful world of cat ladies (and gents)!
This pack has loads of goodies for your Sim’s cats. There are two new versions of the cat tree: one with a cozy little house and another that looks like a cool cat gym on the wall. Your cats will love the new bed, scratchers, and another bed shaped like a tiny house. Of course, I’ve got the essentials like a litter box and food, but let’s be real—we all know the ultimate cat item is the cardboard box!
And because I know how much Sims love their kitties, I’ve added some fun items for a cat-obsessed Sim’s bedroom. I was going for an eclectic vibe this time. There’s a new classic bed with cute cat details on the pillows, a cat-shaped lamp for the night table, and an adorable armchair with cat accents. Plus, I’ve got new curtains and, most importantly, picture frames to show off the beauty of your Sim’s cats.
I’ve put a lot of love into this CC pack and can’t wait for you to enjoy it. Don’t forget to tag me in your social media posts—I can’t wait to see your amazing creations with your Sims and their feline besties!
Enjoy the fun and whimsy of The Sims 4 custom content, and as always, happy simming! 😊🐱📦

Wait, which animals raise livestock?
Several species of ants will 'herd' aphids around (a type of plant lice)- even picking them up and putting them back with the group if they wander off. The ants will attack anything that approaches their aphid herds, defending them. The aphids produce a sugary excretion called honeydew, which the ants harvest and eat.
Some ants will even 'milk' the aphids, stroking the aphids with their antennae, to stimulate them to release honeydew. Some aphids have become 'domesticated' by the ants, and depend entirely on their caretaker ants to milk them.
When the host plant is depleted of resources and dies, the ants will pick up their herd of aphids and carry them to a new plant to feed on - a new 'pasture' if you will.
Some ants continue to care for aphids overwinter, when otherwise they'd die. The ants carry aphid eggs into their own nests, and will even go out of their way to destroy the eggs of aphid-predators, like ladybugs.
--
Microhylids – or narrow-mouthed frogs - have an interesting symbiosis with Tarantulas.
While the spiders could very easily kill and eat the much-tinier frogs, and DO normally prey on small frogs, young spiders instead will use their mouthparts to pick up the microhylid frogs, bring them back to their burrow, and release them unharmed.
The frog benefits from hanging out in/around the burrow of the tarantula, because the tarantula can scare away or eat predators that normally prey on tiny frogs, like snakes, geckos, and mantids. The tarantula gets a babysitter.
Microhylid frogs specialize in eating ants, and ants are one of the major predators of spider eggs. By eating ants, the frogs protect the spider's eggs. The frogs can also lay their eggs in the burrow, and won't be eaten by the spider.
So it's less 'livestock' and more like a housepet - a dog or a cat. You stop coyotes/eagles from hurting your little dog/cat, and in return the dog/cat keeps rats away from your baby.
--
Damselfish grow algae on rocks and corals. They defend these gardens ferociously, and will attack anything that comes too close - even humans. They spend much of their time weeding the gardens, removing unwanted algaes that might overtake their crop.
The species of algae that they cultivate is weak and and sensitive to growing conditions, and can easily be overgrazed by other herbivores. That particular algae tends to grow poorly in areas where damselfish aren't around to protect and farm it.
Damselfish will ALSO actively protect Mysidium integrum (little shrimp-like crustacians) in their reef farms, despite eating other similarly sized invertebrates. The mysids are filter feeders, who feed on zooplankton and free-floating algae, and their waste fertilizes the algae farms. Many types of zooplankton can feed on the algae crop, and the mysids prevent that.
While Mysids can be found around the world, the only place you'll find swarms of Musidium integrum is on the algae farms that Damselfish cultivate.
Damselfish treat the little mysids like some homesteaders treat ducks. Ducks eat snails and other insect pests on our crops, and their poop fertilizes the land. The ducks can be eaten, but aren't often, since they're more useful for their services than their meat.
--
There are SEVERAL species of insect and animal which actively farm. They perform fungiculture and horticulture: deliberately growing and harvesting fungus and plants at a large-scale to feed their population.
Leaf-cutter ants and Termites both chew up plant material and then seed it with a specific type of fungus. The fungus grows, and the termites/ants harvest the mushroom as a food source.
Ambrosia beetles burrow into decaying trees, hollow out little farming rooms, and introduce a specific fungii (the ambrosia fungi), which both adults and larval beetles feed on.
Marsh Periwinkles (a type of snail) cultivates fungus on cordgrass. They wound the plant with their scraping tongue, then defecate into the wound so their preferred fungus will infect it and grow there. They let the fungus grow in the wound a bit, and come back later to eat.
