When I feel better, I’m going to type up a formal complaint with a timeline of events, including timestamps of all the phonecalls I had with my OBGYN’s office. I’ll print it for the surgeon, supervisor, my insurance, the hospital, and my PCP (will also send emails.) What else?🤔

Hi, I'm Billie!!
I may have endometriosis and/or adenomyosis or I might have primary dysmenorrhea
I had a laparoscopy in October 2023 that revealed no endo, although my gynecologist says I could have it in such small amounts that it isn't visible to her
I've tried Depo-Provera, Lupron Depot, and Alysena 21 to suppress my period
I'm going to be asking at my next gynecology appointment if I could have a hysterectomy because a lot of medications have failed me (not just for my reproductive health) and I'd just like to have this over with, plus we could then send my uterus to pathology to have it assessed for adenomyosis
I'm also considering asking my nurse practitioner for a referral to an endometriosis specialist, to see if they can spot any endo that my regular gynecologist missed
I have a tag called #the estrogen is slapping right now which I started when I went on Lupron where I talk about all of this, and you should check it out!! I'm non-binary so I want to be here as a trans-friendly resource for those looking into puberty blockers, birth control, surgeries, etc.
If you have any questions, send me an ask or a DM!!

My best friend Nevra Liz is a 27 year old woman in Karachi, Pakistan who has been suffering from Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS), Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), and related comorbidities such as dysautonomia since childhood. However, her health has taken a dramatic downturn in recent years with the onset of severe Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD). Before becoming dangerously ill she studied many languages, and later used her translation skills to help out disabled patients all over the world, and advocated for disability rights. She is no longer able to do any of these things.
The first smaller goal for Nevra is £4,000 (equivalent to $4898.30, euros: €4661.12)
This includes laparoscopic surgery
at Aga Khan University hospital and a hospital stay, which costs about 670,000 PKR or £2,500.
Nevra needs relief for her excruciating pelvic pain as soon as possible. (Her pain is 9 to 10 on the pain scale every day.)
The remaining £1,500 will go towards hospital stay for additional days, food, medication, transportation, home care, at home nurse, caregiver, supplements, and medical device support items.
We have less than 4 weeks to reach our goal and we need the doctors to continue taking the pain seriously and not deciding against the laparoscopy because of a lack of funds and putting Nevra on random medications again.

Your help is valuable and we appreciate it really in these crucial times.
May God bless you 🙏

A recent client project
Tumblr media
Earlier this month, I completed a rather large medical illustration client project, which describes the practical uses for a high-precision laparoscopic device in clinical settings. This was a challenging set of illustrations and I'm immensely pleased with the end result. Above is the full illustration, which takes up a full page of a manuscript, and a detailed closer shot is below.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I was particularly proud of the figure drawing that acts as an anatomical orientation for the viewer, to specify where we are in the body and center in on the affected anatomy. Not only does it accomplish that primary goal, it was also important to the client and myself that we depict a Black woman. Here is your not-so-casual reminder of the importance of representation in medical illustration. The figure drawing was illustrated using a combination of Adobe Illustrator, Procreate, and Adobe Photoshop. The rest of the elements of the full piece were done using a combination of Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.

Am I really asking too much?

I should’ve been resting, not struggling to manage my pain and making phone calls because someone forgot to discharge me with meds.
