Who Killed The Curate?
My thoughts on Who Killed the Curate? by #JoanCoggin reissued by @GalileoPublishers #CrimeFiction #BookReview
A review of Who Killed The Curate? By Joan Coggin – 231210 Joan Coggin, who also went by the name of Joanna Lloyd, is a new crime writer to me. Who Killed The Curate?, sub-titled as a Christmas mystery and set at Christmas 1937, was originally published in 1944 and is now reissued by Galileo Publishers. It is the first of four novels to feature Lady Lupin, the improbable wife of the Vicar of…

regulus losing his magic after the cave, running away to live as a muggle and somehow ends up becoming a jewelry designer/maker
remus leaving the wizarding world after being left alone, relying on his researching abilities to survive becomes a famous source of reference for artists, sort of a historian (he's great at helping people find information when they don't know where or how to start in the academic side of the interest, he's cheaper than an expert in the field)
moonwater meeting when one of Regulus' regular jeweler costumers commissions an entire line with a very specific idea, time period and materials in mind, apparently the lavish gift for a spoiled young master.
They have to get over the shock of recognition quickly, as the jeweler is introducing them, and keep a blank face as they're told they'll have to travel together for months.
Moonwater falling in love a little in every library, ruins, museum and art collector's room they visit

Prompt 26 - Passion
@wolfstarmicrofic February 26, word count 223
Remus’s passion for books was beginning to cause issues for him and Sirius in their tiny flat. He couldn’t help himself. There were three charity shops in their street alone, and the sweet little old ladies who volunteered there all knew him too well and would regularly put aside books they thought he might enjoy.
There were piles and piles of books around the flat. Every surface had them on it and the floor space was quickly disappearing. Sirius had begged the ladies in the shops to stop selling him the books, but they loved Remus too much. They started knitting him jumpers and once they found out how much he liked chocolate…
Sirius had had enough, so one morning, he sent Remus out to visit his parents, knowing he’d be gone all day, and began putting together the flat-pack bookcases he’d been hiding at James and Lily’s. It took him hours, but when they were all done, he was glad he’d done it.
When Remus came home, there was floor space. You could see the bed in the spare room and Sirius had his desk back.
“I love it!” Remus gushed as he opened his rucksack and lifted out five new books that Hope must have given him. Sirius held back a sigh and helped Remus find a space to store them.

Hot take on Lily's characterization in this fandom
Ik I've written abt this before but I really cannot understand y this fandom insists on limiting lily's characterization to being good and right all the time and making the narrative sympathetic towards her even when she isn't coz ppl don't want haters for her. And this makes sense coming from the new marauders fandom coz they see all of their favs as incapable of being wrong. But I can't understand y the traditional marauders fandom acts this way too coz they tout themselves as being oh so progressive, but they write lily exactly the way rowling wrote her but in a different sense
Rowling wrote all the women in the franchise with the lens of what she sees as an 'ideal woman', but imo lily gets hit by this the most. She exists to further the narratives of other, more important characters, everything we ever hear abt her r positive attributes (harry goes thru tht phase in ootp where he realizes tht his father whom he looked up to so much was a flawed person, for whatever reason his mother is exempted from this), and the highlight of her life was dying for her son(despite the fact tht james did the same and we do know quite a bit abt him).
The conventional view of women has progressed beyond this now, but i d argue tht the underlying issue hasn't been resolved. I get tht fandom is a space for relaxation and fun, but then y do ppl hv a problem with lily being a tad bit flawed in a bad way when the boys r literally out there murdering each other and becoming fascists? The fandom sees her with the modern lens of what an ideal woman is(intentionally or unintentionally)- she's a perfect sjw who starts off with all the right values and has nothing to learn and grow from- she's an ideal feminist, she's always understanding, sympathetic and accepting, she accepts remus instantly, she's the moral voice in the marauders vs snape debate, she always stands up for the underdog, she doesn't let societal prejudices influence her views and waver her morals, etc etc. And while these r undoubtedly very fine qualities to hv, thts not how things work. Ur not being progressive by writing a woman who has no growing and learning to do like a normal person, and who's never allowed to be wrong in a way tht hurts others without making her sympathetic
Let lily be a catty bitch in a way tht can be interpreted as 'cheeky and vivacious' from an outsider's pov. Let lily not hv any proper female friends because she was a popular, well liked girl in high school who wasn't really a girl's girl. Let her be hated by ppl for reasons outside being a muggleborn and being friends with snape. Let her be friendless coz she's just a bad friend, she literally almost smiled when her best friend was being assaulted. Let her be homophobic coz it was the 70s and her social circle consisted of ppl lyk teenage snape and petunia. Let her not be accepting of remus immediately coz the whole ww was prejudiced against werewolves and she's new to it. There r infinite possibilities and none of them need to take away her good aspects in canon, much lyk they don't with the boys
LET HER BE FLAWED AND COMPLICATED AND CONTRAVESIAL COZ WHO CARES, SHE'S NOT FUCKING REAL

Lady Gaga is Sirius Black but in another life. If Sirius had come up with the "no matter gay, straight, or bi, lesbian, transgender life, I'm on the right track baby, I was born the way" YOU BEST BELIEVE THEY ARE SCREAMING THAT SHIT.
Is James still asleep? Oh, don't worry, Sirius will wake him up!
Everyone in the Gryffindor house is either singing it, hearing it sung behind them, or having it stuck in their head.
Also, this is totally something he would post

Thinking about how Lady Stardust by David Bowie was literally written about Sirius black???
People stared at the makeup on his face??
Laughed at his long black hair and his animal grace???
The boy in the bright blue (muggle) jeans jumped up on the stage???
LADY STARDUST SANG HIS SONGSSS OF DARKNESS AND DISGRACE
Tell me this isn’t just Remus writing a poem about his secret crush for his language arts assignment

Dancing With Death
My thoughts on Dancing with Death by #JoanCoggin reissued by @GalileoPublishers #CrimeFiction #BookReview
A review of Dancing with Death by Joan Coggin – 240102 Well, what a transformation! The last time I met Lady Lupin, in Who Killed The Curate?, she was a ditzy, scatter-brained, former socialite who was trying to integrate herself into parish life as a new bride of the local vicar. Fast forward ten years, although Dancing with Death, now reissued by the admirable Galileo Publishers, was actually…

wolfstar microfic: religion || hospital au extra || @taylorswiftmicrofic || NSFW || wc: 553
There are not many personal items on Dr. Lupin's desk. The pens in the stand are all basic pastel colors, and there are no sticky notes with important information on his computer screen. There are several thick books on anatomy and surgery on the shelf. One of them is open on the table in front of Sirius, with notes on the sides of the paragraphs and illustrations in smooth calligraphic handwriting that Sirius himself, from the height of his experience, does not yet understand.
There are only two frames with photos on the table - one shows a slightly younger Remus in a robe and graduate cap with a diploma in his hands, and next to him is a short woman in a floral print dress. Her hair is streaked with gray, but the brown hair that Remus inherited is still visible. The second photo shows Dr. Lupin in his white lab coat and in a familiar hospital corridor, and his companion is a redheaded girl with a wide smile. Sirius is surprised that he does not identify the girl, because the photo does not look so old, and he is already familiar with most of the local doctors.
And between these photos is another small frame, the contents of which surprise Sirius: an icon. It is small and not fancy, but painted in bright colors. In fact, Sirius would never have thought that religion could mean anything to Dr. Lupin. However, he noticed more and more small icons of saints on the doctors' tables. “We are not Gods,” a man had told him earlier. But it seems that they sometimes believed in gods.
The Virgin Mary looks at him with the tenderness with which his own mother had never looked at Sirius.
A lump forms in his throat.
Sirius tries to clear his throat as quietly as possible so as not to draw attention to himself, but it is useless.
Remus' voice sounds a little muffled from under the table where he kneels between Sirius' legs. “Are you okay?” his voice sounds worried, but in the man's sparkling and slightly frightened eyes, Sirius doesn't see concern for him. It's fear that Remus has done something wrong.
“No, Doctor... I'm fine,” he covers his mouth with his hand, and Sirius' answer sounds a little shy, as expected of a student intern assisting an experienced surgeon. But it's not the right tone for the situation when the said surgeon is kneeling in front of you, his hand wrapped around your erect dick that was in his mouth just a few seconds ago.
“I'm sorry if I'm... not very good at this,” Remus says shyly as he tries to gently knead his dick to keep it hard.
Truth be told, the blowjob from Dr. Lupin hadn't been... the best Sirius had ever had. Far from it. He could tell without being told that the man had no experience with any cocks other than his own. But the twinkle in his eyes and the diligent movements of his tongue showed his desire to be better, and Sirius couldn't ignore it.
Some talents just need to be given time, so Sirius says, “No, you're doing great, keep going,” and continues to look at the encyclopedia spines and fake plants in the corner and dream of his own office.
