your palms are undeniably sweaty following the anxious feeling you had in the pit of your stomach. after transferring you made a successful career as a profiler for the crisis negotiation unit, so it wouldn’t be the first time seeing hotchner after all, you saw him at seminars, you read his book, his face and his voice were still a strong presence in your mind.

but being close to him, talking to him, working with him again… that was making your mind swirl. the bau needed a senior profiler, again. you had rejected the transfer at least two times before and the upperups found someone else for the job. not this time, this time you had no choice. 

you try to feel comfortable on his office’s couch, looking around to notice the little things before him and the rest of the team arrive, profiling each other wasn’t very well seen in the bau, you remember that much from your years there, but you knew hotch, you were just basking at the familiarity his office brought you. 

pictures of him with his son, his late ex wife, awards, piles of cases organized. it all pointed to him being more serious than when you worked together first. it made sense not only considering what he had been through, but his nearly obsessive nature. 

throat cleaning is the sound that brings you back, his face lighting up when he notices it’s you, but letting the smile disappear seconds later. “it’s been a while. how can i help you?” 

oh. politeness. the tone. not asking how you are. he’s mad. possibly because you never called. never answered his calls. never talked to him when he was around your unit. always sent other agents when the bau needed negotiators. you made impossible efforts to avoid him. and yet here you were, in his office. 

“i get that you haven’t looked into your new profiler’s paperwork.” you were always snarky and that made him huff trying to hide a laugh. he didn’t have to look at the paperwork to know you wouldn’t be there if it wasn’t mandatory. “you look good, big office, the suit. it fits you.” 

he stays silent, and you wish you could read his mind like you did before, but it was different now, all you could read from him was how… sore he was in your presence. like you were there just to cut open old wounds. you couldn’t blame him, you prided yourself of being his best friend for so long and sure it was a weird gray area you both danced in, but he got divorced, was stabbed countless times, haley was murdered, you never even called. you couldn’t even pretend you didn’t know, you kept in touch with rossi.

he moves to his desk, sitting and looking through your paperwork without much care, enough that he caught you staring at the picture he had of haley, jack and him by the bookshelf behind him. “you didn’t come to the funeral.” 

“dave told me to go, but… it felt disrespectful to haley.” hotchner takes a deep breath, it finally hitting him that at least there and then it wasn’t about avoiding him, it was about haley, as it was when you left quantico. he didn’t want to hurt her, you didn’t want to disrespect her, that was always the central point of why you two couldn’t be. that relaxes his demeanor, his features soften. your heart beats faster. 

“think you can handle bau rhythm after a decade away?” he smirks, that one you know so well, that one that meant trouble. and he finally looks up from the file, locking eyes with you. 

“you should be worried about keeping up with me.” and just like that it feels like you’re ten years younger, flirting with your partner, hoping he will flirt back. and by the look he gives you, it almost seems like he would if his phone didn’t ring, getting his attention away from you in a flash of a second. 

got caught up, will be there soon, yeah, love you too.

“sorry, that was my–my girlfriend, beth. i have to get going, see you tomorrow?” you nodded, chewing the inside of your cheek for some relief. 

10 years. 10 years of running from it. just to get back exactly where you started: at the bau, heart out for hotchner when he couldn’t take it. 

so much for keeping your fbi career and not going against orders.

It’s never overstated to me when people are like “work out bc it makes you feel better” bc it literally does. I think what I used to get hung up on is making the perfect schedule / wanting to know what I was doing right away. But it’s also okay to flounder at first and experiment w things and figure out what works for you and your body. The important thing is you’re starting out bc your body really will thank you for it later down the line. You cannot keep pushing it off it will add up

weekes saying all that mythal shit is up to interpretation is so weird to me because instead of worrying about leaving all of solas' past up to vague interpretation to (new) players because you're too chickenshit to stand by your established lore you could've focused on ghilan'nain and elgar'nan and who they were and what they became. elgar'nan literally let the other evanuris slay his wife and he watched on, and then he rotted in a prison made by what he referred to as his wife's "lapdog" and second in command general. and what of ghilan'nain? what is their relationship? why is it just the two of them in that prison when there were more evanuris trapped in there? why are they simultaneously this omnipotent threat capable of spawning blight at will but also two dimensional villains chasing their own tails half the game while solas just poses and speaks in his riddles in the fade. also a fragment of mythal is inside of morrigan, does no part of her gaf that her husband is literally terrorizing the world she loves? hello??

i don't think enough people talk about how the backbone of nie huaisang's plan hinged heavily upon jin guangyao's low birth, and the jianghu's willingness to dogpile on such people.

nie huaisang is upper class. he's specifically stated in the novel as behaving more like the idle rich than like a distinguished second young master of one of the five great cultivation sects, but he's still an heir by birth. even if nie huaisang had been more openly caught, who would do anything to him?

wei wuxian notices that bicao's testimony was bought with a few shiny baubles— that nie huaisang was the one who bribed her with a nice bracelet for her testimony. he intentionally kept his own sect half dead, barely afloat for years, just to keep up the guise of an incompetent loser!

but the only actual consequence he's faced for such poor leadership that probably hurt a lot of common folks in his territory over 13 years is that people think nie huaisang is an annoying, useless crybaby. nie huaisang has a level of protection from consequences that jin guangyao had to fight much harder for (and that jin guangyao ultimately never truly got).

nie huaisang knew his own class and social position extremely well, and he knew how most people of that position behave and think. he was more than willing to use this in his revenge.

we know lan wangji is the type to use his wealth and position to do good for others. nie huaisang is the opposite— he's the type to use his wealth and position for himself and his own personal goals.

and this wasn't just something that started after his brother died! avoiding responsibilities, never carrying his sword, ignoring the fact that he wasn't honoring his sect or ancestors the way others wanted… his underground ring of selling porn as a teenager even got him out of the worst part of the wen indoctrination camps, because he bribed the wen cultivators overseeing everyone else.

my point is, nie huaisang is self-aware enough to know he doesn't really ever do the "right" thing! at no point in the story does he delude himself or others with grand ideals of how one ought to behave. he doesn't care.

unlike almost every single other upper class cultivator in the story— jiang cheng, jin zixuan, nie mingjue, lan xichen— who all think of themselves as righteous in a way, who are always able to justify their thoughts and actions, rarely if ever able to conceive of those thoughts and actions as flawed or wrong... nie huaisang KNOWS his own selfishness.

like lan wangji, nie huaisang recognizes that his class can easily be used as a shield to do whatever he wants. while lan wangji at worst uses this nifty privilege to silence people he doesn't like, refuse to explain himself in inconvenient situations, and bring wei wuxian along with him everywhere, nie huaisang uses it to shirk his duties for decades and tear jin guangyao apart in revenge.

jin guangyao being the son of a prostitute automatically amplifies bad rumors around him. bringing to light his incestuous marriage and the gruesome way he murdered his upper class father, however deserved, is obviously going to impact him in a way that someone higher class wouldn't be as hurt by. combining that with a final lie to get his sworn brother to stab him in a flash of doubt, and well...

is that good or righteous or just? no, of course not. nie huaisang doesn't spend any time pretending that his actions were conducted based on morality, or that he "had no choice".

nie huaisang just wanted to destroy jin guangyao, and damn did it feel good to finally do it.

Well last night I watched the SECOND Lazytown stageplay for the first time, the official introduction of Robbie Rotten as a concept and I gotta say he slays IMMENSELY

Like this guy is SERVING! Every second he's onscreen is a delight and he's onscreen for MOST of it 😂 another thing I wanna talk about OFC is Sportacus...he's not in it very much, like I'd wager less than 10 minutes of the actual play??

This guy, who in my mind is the predecessor to TV Sportacus, his daddy!! My partner told me that the fandom wasn't very fond of this version bcs he was too 'serious' but he wasn't IN the play enough for me to gage that and when he WAS onscreen he still had a goofy side to him and a kindness and understanding that I associate with Sportacus nowadays 🥺💖💖💖 overall 10/10 viewing experience
