The Song of Achilles is one of the most garbage books I've ever read and I kind of want to talk about it but I'd have to reread The Song of Achilles to do that in a cohesive manner, which is garbage

#I went through a phase of reading the like... Feminist-ish adaptations of Greek mythology genre . Which as a whole is absolute dogshit #Like almost everything I read was outright BAD.#Silence of the Girls is the only one I read that I would describe as 'good'. Which I have issues with but still think is overall solid #Which if you are looking for a good novel with Achilles story is the only thing I could possibly recommend #(It really isn't about that (It's the Iliad from Briseis' perspective) but happens to have the only depiction of Achilles and Patroclus tha #I did not absolutely loathe) (And also it kind of feels like the author couldn't decide what kind of Iliad retelling they wanted to do #because it starts switching to Achilles POV randomly around the middle) (Which is one of the problems with the book but after #the absolute garbage heap that was Song of Achilles I appreciated it anyway)

one day i dream of owning a second house that i will rent for an actually reasonable price (say $400 a month? $500 a month?) and, unbeknownst to the renter, when they leave and any damages/cleaning get taken care of, every dollar they paid in rent minus said cleaning/damages gets returned to them in a lump sum. i just keep doing this forever.

#dated a girl once whose dad rented out her childhood home #during the first year we dated the current tenant left and I helped fix holes in the walls and replaced the carpet #he found another tenant‚ very kind looking family‚ husband and wife with one kid‚ very polite‚ seemed very put together #by the end of me dating her that tenant caused her dad so much hell #big unexplained hole in the ceiling‚ three dogs he didn't approve of but they seemed mild mannered every time he visited so—#—he fussed about it the first time and let it go after; when the tenant eventually left‚ the carpet was so full of fleas #dozens of fleas crawling on your ankles and calfs in the first few steps in #water damage on the ceiling in another room and down the wall looked like textbook burst water pipe in the walls—#—but absolutely no pipe in those areas nor any leaks from the existing pipe as far as we could tell‚#and that's including looking for traveling drips #these tags have been a large digression from the original post #but i think of them any time i hear friends/family mentioning renting #or when i think of my dream described here in the post #it's like .. when you rent‚ your landlords are garbage and when you rent to others your tenants are garbage

Hey actually, why did The Grove have Carol execute a schizophrenic child and frame it as the only thing she could've done? We've got a bunch of people now saying she was right to kill a mentally ill 12 year old when she didn't know how to handle her.

anyone else here got the specific mental & physical illness combo where you neglect and forget about and fail to notice basic household tasks to the point that sometimes when you finally go to do the dishes there's a Fascinating Smell in the sink so overpowering that it makes you puke.
