Jay. her boyfriend.#and there's a moment. a single brief moment where she turns back.#she smiles and holds jay's hands. she caresses his cheek.#and just as quick as she came #she left. jay screaming her name as she dives back into the sea #and then the funeral. because what else do you call it but a funeral.#they call all of her friends and family. they pour seawater in an urn. they hold a service of sorts.#and i'd like to imagine each person feels responsible in some way. for not doing more. for not being as convincing to her.#some feel it more than others. Wu is- was her master. Kai her brother.#and Jay. I think one of the things that just has me tired with listening to all the bs around this election season is the number of people who say “i just dont like [insert person up for office]”

My dudes, you do not need to like them, you need to read their fucking policies and decide whether you think they are the best choice for the community. I’m so sick of “likeability” being an active part of politics. I routinely vote for candidates who I don’t particularly like, but who I trust to consider their constituents and vote in their best interest because They Have Done It Before.

Hearing “I don’t like them” given as the reason to not vote for someone usually just tells me the person did not do their research on the candidate or are just mindlessly consuming propaganda about them ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

#us politics #ofc this could include the pres election but im mostly referring to smaller elections and state elections #like we have a congresswoman up for reelection who is working to ban all trawling near our waters and to ban the sale of trawled fish in our #state. who is working to stop the merger between the two main grocery stores and thus saving us from a return to criminal food prices #and who routinely puts alaskans first. and the fucking number of people who i have heard say ‘well i just dont like her’#oh and ofc she’s an indigenous gal so yes racism is playing its part here #im just like im sorry you don’t like her but you like ‘im a crook just like every politician elected from my family’ asshole mcgee running #against her??? are you fucking kidding me??? seriously considering making a ninjago AU comprised entirely of speculative biology about serpentine because their whole everything is pretty inconsistent but I really like snakes so I wanna fix it up a bit

my job wants me gone so bad , like 1 month in and they have already brought out their no effort in communication and gaslighting full force, and telling me much of the work I am doing is wrong and accusing me of not doing the basic things like stocking, that I try so hard and am sure to keep up with being the only person working at a time? like if they are going to do this at least do it while i am on the clock..

#this morning i kept apologizing for doing what i was told and trained to do and the lady sent so many messages of 'well I don't remember #telling you' over n over like ??? so then i had to apologize for her not remembering which like no one does that #to that extent unless they are trying to affect you negatively and or try to get you to say something they can use against you #like ive been abused enough i know how it goes 🙃 ??#and then they are like 'why would you be stupid and put in so much effort when you work the busiest shifts of the week?'#when like literally ive got a good eye for design and decent with sales so like i will touch a merchandise make it more presentable #and suddenly the next people coming in will be drawn to the item to buy like im their little magical willy wonka like they said they wanted #on their original job listing #and ofc there is no mention of how the floor is no longer just perpetual dirt mud to slather around bc i actually cleaned the floor #instead of doing there method of just mopping by putting a mop back in dirty mop water.. like you can visibly see the floor crusted when it #is like that and i wont even start on the dust #nor any mention to how the backroom hasnt remained cluttered from extra my extra tidying or severely cluttered by all the work i did #the last two days #just how i have consistently done a bad job not even keeping up with the basics apparently this entire time 😐#anyways 3 hours of my day Wasted and unpaid from how much they made me cry like there is so much more bot mentioned i hate itf

I listened to The Foxhole Court trilogy as audiobooks (and read the Sunshine Court as an eBook after).

And then I went back and reread the the trilogy as eBooks because there were a lot of names to keep up with and I felt like I missed a lot the first time around.

And then I still didn't understand Andrew's character, so I read the entire trilogy from his PoV (a fanwork, but a very complete fanwork).

I have no defense except that this series is fucking insane.

#look according to storygraph I've read 127 books this year #so narrowing things down to a top five was rough #bc ofc I also tend tonread books that I know if advance I'll like #I actually read quite a few really good nonfiction books #but they don't make my brain go brrrrr in the same way as a well-done fiction book/series #especially if you're looking at works like Water Outlaws or Poppy Wars or Baru Cormorant #which take elements if real life i.e. politics/history/traditional folk tale and adapt them #I was so sad I couldn't justify putting Spinning Silver or When the Tiger Came Down the Mountain in my top 10 #Tiger is more of a short story #and Spinning Silver was AMAZING but not quite the same calibre To Me (tho tbh that may be bc it's YA)#(same with Cruel Prince tbh I love Holly Black with all of me and enjoy the experience if reading her books)#(I can eat them like candy)#(but it lacks the ... the weight and gravitas of books that hit this top ten for me?)#(which I'm sure sounds silly with Lady Susan up there but Jane was really cooking when she dreamt up this book)#ask game #answers and shitposts #personal #nortism

i am about to confess. i am a terminal water-drinker SKFJHG i'm not super into sweet things and don't mind the taste of just plain water? so i don't often have any beverages at all, so this list is about to be the most hyper-specific list of beverages known to man 😂

hot water: i would argue this counts as a drink, because most people i know don't drink hot water, i'm just very chinese lol. it's nice! feels less shocking to the system than cold water. i do not like cold water.

taro bubble tea: truly the most bestest of bubble teas. it's purple! it has edible tadpoles! yum. idk unpopular opinion though, every time i get it from a place where they actually serve legitimate taro inside their taro bubble tea, i hate it. i want the artificial stuff that comes in powder form, that is probably like 90% sugar by weight

there's this corn juice that T&T sells that's really good. is also probably 90% sugar by weight. corn!

okay i have to admit that i do like the starbucks coffee cappuccino frappuccino whatever stuff that comes in the sealed glass bottles that you can get. again, definitely mostly sugar and milk by weight (i am not a hardcore coffee person. i'm not even a coffee person really), but they taste really good. i haven't had one in years and i'm not about to break that streak now! but i do remember really liking it.

another asian beverage, there's this pineapple beer stuff that is mostly non-alcoholic (the alcohol % is super low) that is really good. ALSO most DEFINITELY 90% sugar by weight, i swear it tastes kinda like caramel and nothing like pineapple. still good tho!

#asks #i swear the pineapple beer stuff used to be better though #like now i can taste this caramel-y aftertaste to it #which is fine it's not bad but it's not what it used to taste like #so i demoted it to 5 #i don't like ANY other starbucks thing and esp now i refuse to go to starbucks #but for some reason those glass bottle boys are like. littol treat. somehow very good.#might just be that i have really low standards. in college i used to drink coffee strictly for the caffeine #so i would make the most godawful concoctions known to man #little bit of cheap instant coffee in a mug lot of hot water a bit of sugar to make it a little less caustic to swallow and voila #you now have a recipe for Olive's Caffeine Beverage From Hell: Also Known As Coffee Question Mark?#or i would dump some grounds into a french press and drown it in hot water #then walk away and forget about it for an hour #come back and pour out my cold garbage into a mug and microwave it #add sugar. serve.#yes it still had little bits of coffee grounds in it always. it was disgusting. do not do this.#oh maybe more cursed though is that with the french press method i'd always make way too much #so i would take the extra stuff and put it in the fridge for later #where it would ofc undergo the microwave + sugar treatment #again. don't do this.#and i hear you asking 'olive. why not add a little milk. please. at least don't drink it black and cursed with the ghost of sugars past.'#to which i reply: the grocery store we went to in college only had big 2L things of lactose free milk #and that was way too much milk for me to drink before it went bad #and also. more importantly. if i added milk to the mug that was less caffeine water in the mug therefore not enough caffeine.#and look at the above recipes. this was bad coffee EVEN with milk. i did not want to be drinking it either.#usually i would end up shotgunning the last 25% of the mug of cold sugar caffeine water because i would've forgotten it for an hour by then #how did i end up talking about this #ANYWAYS thank you for the ask!!!! :D #would recommend trying the above beverages in the list #would not recommend trying cold sugar caffeine water
