One thing I love about kokugiyuu is the dilemma between their respective duties and responsibilities.

The clash of everything they have ever fought for, the struggle of accepting that neither will truly ever accept the other's groups/organizations.

Kokushibou could very much kill Giyuu quite easily, and Giyuu could very much lead Kokushibou to a trap with fellow pillars but neither will do that because it just isn't in their thoughts.

Giyuu basically betraying the corps AND Ubuyashiki will surely take a toll on his mental health considering how grateful and respectful he is of his master. Giyuu doesn't have many friends even among his colleagues and other pillars, but I'm sure he never wanted harm to befall them. The dilemma is just 👌✨❤️ chef's kiss. I just love angst and tragedies for my faves.

Kokushibou on the other hand, very much values and respects Muzan and the hierarchy of the moons. He is literally the second highest rank after Muzan so the pressure to obey his master will be overwhelming. His last moment decision to forego something he had done for almost five decades JUST for a mere human he could kill is just also 👌✨❤️ chef's kiss as well.

Shadow Sweep

i think one of my FAVORITE things about this new version of Shadow is that its very explicit hes a kid, the same age as Sonic!!!!! not only does he have these heartwrenching and joyful scenes with Maria, not only does he come across as pretty insecure and malleable and looking for praise/approval, but he's EXPLICITLY referred to as a child. One of my worries was that this movie was gonna lean into Keanu being... sort of old (LOL) and that Shadow would be an adult, or that he would be "adult-coded" but technically ageless in a way that sparks the same debates as game!Shadow does. but he's a little kid!!!!!!! im so happy!!!!!!!

Aww, me too my dear. I loved that they made him a kid! I do recall saying that this version of Shadow is incredibly young.

If anyone needs further proof, Keanu Reeves stated that he tried to play him younger, as well as directed to make Shadow younger.

You know, rewatching the original Yu-Gi-Oh dub series, something that occurs to me? The reason Rex Raptor and Weevil lost so much might be because....they weren't actually as good duelist as they though they were.

Like, i know that sounds obvious, but I mean more in the sense that neither one was really equal in level to most of the other duelists in the tournaments they entered. Rex and Weevil always brag about being champs....but they brag specifically about being REGIONAL champions. And that's....not actually that impressive a ranking. That's basically them bragging that they're the best duelists in their towns, which would both explain why they seem to live in the same place and why everyone around them treated them so impressively in the past despite their ranking not actually being that high: They were the best duelists in their area, do everyone who lived their treated them like they were superstars.

But that's the thing. They were the best duelists IN THEIR AREA, but by comparison, their competitors were all a lot higher ranked then them. Kaiba was the world champion, Bandit Keith the intercontinental champion, Mai was at least SOME kind of pro based on her history and even Mako is implied to duel internationally. Compared to them, Rex and Weevil don't really measure up. And that might explain why neither ever place high in the tournaments we see them in. Neither made it very far in either Duelis Kingdom or Battle City or were even CONSIDERED for the Kaibacorp grand Prix because neither were actually on the same level as the world class competition they kept being put up against.
