Hey, I was wondering. Did you also find it weird that the first time Yoichi talked to Deku he didn't properly introduced himself and jumped right into his backstory? He didn't even tell his own name. Not only that, but after finishing his backstory he took Midoriya's hand into his own. After he just talked to the kid for the first time. What makes it weirder is that, as stated, he didn't even introduce himself first.
Not—particularly? Okay, so like, I love me a Creepy OFA and a Yoichi with some dark spots, as I’ll discuss below the cut, but my thoughts tend to go in different directions than this. Forgive me if I’m misreading you based on my experience with fandom parlance, but your usage of “weird” here comes across to me as implying suggestive, even scandalous, motivations from Yoichi, a kind of sensationalistic Stranger Danger, and that’s just not a read I ever took from the scene in question.
Though Yoichi may not have known this, Deku didn’t need to be talked through who exactly he was seeing. He figured out who Yoichi was within seconds of the dream starting, between already having been told the story of OFA’s origin with the two brothers, recognizing All For One’s voice, and AFO and Yoichi addressing each other as Brother.
Yoichi said at the end that he wanted to show Deku more, but Deku was only at 20%. Deku’s low integration with the power limited how much and how long he could interact with the vestiges—that limitation came back up in Banjo’s first appearance and was still in effect until Vestige!AFO “forcibly drew [the vestiges] out” during the war. With the OFA vestiges stated to be far more latent and vague prior to Deku, the dream encounter was probably the first time Yoichi ever managed to directly address one of the bearers! If that connection was still patchy and Yoichi didn’t have a lot of access to Deku’s mind yet, he might not even have known that Deku had already been told the story of OFA’s origin. Presumably, then, Yoichi was trying to get as much across as he could in as little time as possible—hence leading with a version of the backstory that quickly communicated who he and AFO are, why AFO is a bad dude that Yoichi is against, and how One For All was first created. He just didn’t have time for more details than that, and every second he wasted on introductions would cut into other things he could be showing Deku instead.
I don’t think he shows untoward initiative in taking Deku’s hand. Deku was already reaching out—indeed, he was reaching out for Yoichi, albeit the Yoichi of the past. Deku also doesn’t drop his hand when the dream fades and Vestige!Yoichi staggers out of the dark, which he easily could have if he were feeling wary. Instead, his hand is still extended when Yoichi reaches back for it, telling Deku both to be careful and not to be afraid. I think the touch is intended to be reassuring.
No, it’s not how you’d want to behave with a stranger in real life, but the mindscape isn’t a real-life space and Yoichi isn’t some rando on the street. He’s the driving voice of One For All, the fateful power entrusted to Deku, and a man who spent nearly his entire life under AFO’s thumb. Given those factors, I don’t read Yoichi as being particularly suspicious there, or hold it against him that he gets right to business.
None of that is to say, though, that there’s nothing sketchy about Yoichi! I think you can read quite a lot into him that the canon would rather you not, and can go even farther than that if you’re willing to put your own spin on things for AUs or the like.
(Hit the jump.)
For starters, I’ve never liked the tendency of the OFA bearers to refer to each other by number rather than by name, something that starts out kinda sporadic but gets exacerbated considerably in the endgame. It makes them feel militaristic, even self-dehumanizing, which is particularly galling when Kudou starts intoning piousness about peoples’ quirks being embodiments of their individual wills and desires. Hey, Second, if you think AFO should be afraid of quirks because of the people behind them, maybe try using those peoples’ names.
I also desperately wish we could have had a version of the story that was willing to explore Yoichi as a hardliner making sweeping proclamations about how an oppressed minority should use their meta-abilities when he himself doesn’t have one of those meta-abilities and therefore is at very little risk of being killed by an anti-meta mob. My ideal Yoichi would hear about Stain's crusade and say, “He's going a little too far, but he's not wrong.”
Seriously, I’d love it if BNHA would acknowledge Yoichi as being legitimately, admirably far-sighted about his brother’s machinations, but also that he only has the luxury of that long-term outlook because his brother is attending to all his basic needs. Yoichi doesn’t have to worry about food or a place to live, he’s in no physical danger with his terrifying older brother looking out for him, and he has no dependents of his own. That’s all because his brother is keeping him locked in a vault against his will, of course; I’m not saying he should be fawning and grateful to AFO! It’s just that he comes across as very strict and inflexible when he fails to recognize that not everyone can take for granted the sustenance, shelter and safety he is so ready to reject.
I wish the story could acknowledge it as a character flaw, that Yoichi is so sheltered and isolated that he can’t empathize with people who will make bad bargains if it means helping their loved ones, people who are living every day in fear and are desperate for a way out of that fear. Heck, I’d like it even more if Yoichi could empathize with that (he’s got all the reason in the world to both love and fear his brother, after all, and they did grow up on the streets!), but his own unbending viewpoint leads him to assert that it’s more moral to starve to death than accept a deal with the devil, and so that’s what everyone should be willing to do.
And of course, that’s all just about Yoichi as an actual person, which the thing in OFA definitively is not, no matter how the story treats him. During the mindscape conference post-war, he says outright that he and the other ghosts within One For All are, with the sole exception of All Might, just quirk vestiges, not real souls. Every day, I wish for a version of BNHA that was willing to take that distinction seriously! I’ve got tons of thoughts on how OFA could have been made creepier and more of a challenge for Deku to overcome simply by treating it as a power instead of a person, a power with its own dictates and drives, a “will” detached from a conscience or true self-awareness.
As a bonus, this would also have let the endgame have its cake and eat it too with Demon Lord AFO. Allow the real man nuance and affection for people, a motivation for his megalomania that goes beyond “Because that’s what my favorite comic book character did,” maybe even (how shocking!) a willingness to entrust his fortunes to his chosen heir. Save the cartoon villainy for the quirk, which manifests with AFO’s face and mannerisms but is really just a mindless drive to consume, no more sapient than an AFO-themed chatbot.
That’s what I’d have liked All For One and One For All to boil down to, really: one a quirk that exists to devour and the other a quirk that exists to destroy the devourer. And somewhere in all of that, the Deku who wants to use One For All to save and the Shigaraki who wants to use All For One to destroy have to center and find themselves.
(Ahem.)
That’s my oversharey thoughts on Creepy OFA and Yoichi as an actual human being with objectionable traits and uncomfortable belief structures. But canonically?
I suppose Yoichi and the others in OFA being hardline anti-AFO militants—which they sort of are and sort of aren't, because their writing lacks consistency—could feed into a willingness to come on stronger to Deku than is entirely kosher. I wouldn’t call that behavior “weird,” though; I’d call it “urgent,” or possibly “anxious.” If I wanted to argue that Yoichi willfully chose a narrative that would discourage sympathy for AFO, maybe I’d throw in some words like “peremptory” or “dissuasive of asking inconvenient questions,” but even those suggest a level of calculated, dogmatic malice towards AFO that I just don't read Yoichi exercising there. His focus is on explaining the origin of One For All, not demonizing AFO—he could surely dig up much worse memories, if that were the aim! If anything, the memories he chose gave more room for a nuanced AFO than the full story did!
Whatever I think of Yoichi's rhetoric, in any case, he certainly didn’t come off to me as some kind of closet pervert or underhanded groomer because he took the hand Deku had already extended towards him in a gesture of comfort and solidarity.
Apologies again if that's not what you meant in calling him weird, but please understand that these days that is the context I most frequently see people using “weird” to not-so-subtly imply.

When my head isn’t filled with “keephishandkeephishandkeephishand” on a loop, I actually think about more stuff from 407.
Someone on X pointed this out, but how wittle baby boy Yoichi is shown here…
Makes it seem like the people that AFO just killed had maybe beat him up. Of course, AFO is taking their metapowers away too, but it’s an interesting catch. And, yes, Yoichi is wearing fitted clothes while AFO walks around with something just wrapped around him.
You know how Yoichi still believed there was good in his brother because of the kindness of his “hand”?
Well, in case you missed it…
They were born apart with their hands already reaching out to each other. They are on their backs right now, so those are the same hands that are holding/being held.
This means…
AFO grabbed Yoichi and dragged him with him. What you’re seeing in that top panel is the water starting to overflow the river and rush past. AFO pulled Yoichi out of the water and on to their mother. He is also using the spike quirk for teeth and on his hand to grab onto their mother and pull them up. The bottom left panel is him biting into her dress as he pulls them out of the danger of the water. Yes, AFO saved Yoichi when they were fucking newborns. THIS is what Yoichi has a faint memory of. That was the kindness.
I know some people have been wondering if they’re fraternal or identical. This seems to suggest that they are in fact sharing the same umbilical cord. It’s rare for fraternal twins to have this. It’s crazy to think that Yoichi may have looked just like AFO if he had the same amount of nutrients. But I digress…
A very notable thing about AFO’s eyes: they are huge and creepy in feral/survivor mode. We’ve seen his eyes get like this as AFOTomura and when he goes into rage mode against All Might and now Bakugo.
Here, he is quite literally just walking down the street past the anti-meta people and presumably just heard them talk about killing metas. Once they take notice of him, he turns his head towards them and his eyes are huge like a startled animal.
He then proceeds to kill them and still has that feral look.
But now let me get to something pretty important…
We don’t see AFO actually smile until this panel
Once he has a dream of everyone living for his sake, like Yoichi, he is finally smiling. And continues to do so after this point.
Something really bothering me is that they must have named themselves including their surname. Shigaraki means “death tree” which fits in nicely as they were born “from death”. However, where did Yoichi get his name? AFO must have named him and Yoichi can mean “first gift”. So he named him that because Yoichi was QUITE LITERALLY the first thing AFO ever had. As for AFO…I don’t know if he would take the time to name himself. Yoichi only calls him big brother so he may have told Yoichi to just keep calling him that then decided to name himself after the Quirk he also named himself: All for One. Dude is really committed to the bit.
There’s one more thing I haven’t seen anyone touch on yet…
The hatred.
As you probably recall, Hawks has a talk with Best Jeanist over AFO’s lack of emotions and lack of hate. Why he has to use Tomura to get OFA.
406 explained why that is perfectly.
When he feels hatred, he is forced to remember WHEN HE WAS TOLD HE KILLED HIS BROTHER HOLY SHIT. It would also be possibly the first and only time he ever cried. Felt real grief. So, he never “feels” REAL hatred because that would mean having to confront this memory.
It’s fucking genius.
You’’re welcome.

Ok a question center about Izu, in a way. Hm, ok let me gather my thought:
Mirio is either stupid or naive? I ask this bc well nighteye was a miserable bitch against Izu for no reason but petty. Is Mirio aware Nighteye is a creep or ...nighteye fake around mirio?
Now to Izu...I think I'm the only one who can see this but...Izu getting the quirk, ofa, is now a mean spirit joke. "Huh?what you mean?"
Mirio is the perfect candidate for ofa. He has a good grasp on his quirk, he knows how to act and is a mini am. He could fill the gap right away and AM was in a hurray.
Why pick Izu?
"he saved PoS" which ok...but is that enough to grant him a special quirk? No discussing or get to know Izu? Am doesn't know this kid...for all he knows Izu could have used ofa for evil.
To me, the way I see it. Izu got the quirk bc am is stubborn and nighteye was a mega creep.
Like Mirio was a perfect option for ofa. Why Izu? Not asking this to shit on him (I'm not Hori) but while Izu does work to make this quirk his...AM was putting pressure...he needs Izu to be the symbol of peace in a second.
Mirio already was a symbol or coming closer. Why not him?
What makes Izu special of ofa? It's bc am picked him and it's a good reason if we saw why am picked him. Am picked him way too quick.
One good and frankly suicidal mission was enough to make him his heir. Why? We will never know.
Again, not shitting on Izu. I wanted to see a reason as why Izu is worthy of ofa. But we don't. The relationship of am and Izu is ...no. Existent. Really make me think he picked Izu too quick and if nighteye wasn't himself...the ofa would go to Mirio.
Hi @mikeellee 👋 sorry for not answering this sooner!
Hmm interesting I would say mirio is naive with a dash of biases. Let me explain, what I mean is that Mirio believes that nighteye wouldn't do such a thing especially if it's towards someone he thinks is a friend. Mirio and nighteyes relationship is what I like to describe what nighteye wanted his relationship to be with all might in a way.
I don't think that Mirio is aware of nighteye's creepy behaviour as canon never alludes or implies it at all and Mirio someone who has a strong sense of righteousness and would probably be very irked if he found out about nighteye.
My theory is that due to all mights and nighteye's strained relationship all might didn't trust nighteye's input or decision so he may of left Mirio getting OFA as a last resort type of thing. However, you are right Mirio is basically perfect for the role especially if they wanted another mini all might in a hugely short span of time but I think the message was supposed to be that with society changing that another all might may actually harm society a lot more than do good for it. Now I think that if horikoshi actually allowed Izuku's character to go through proper development that izuku would be perfect in delivering that message however this idea doesn't hold much weight after Izuku's fight with shigaraki that parallels all mights kamino fight.
Also maybe Izuku reminded all might of himself so that's why he picked him. In reality how would all might really know that though??!?! All might and izuku bonding time is basically non existent in the manga or anime their relationship is also non existent. All might doesn't know much about izuku and neither does izuku. All might is a bad mentor and it's never brought up or used as a point to develop him and his relationship with Izuku.
Iam not sure what's so special about izuku for all might to pick him or why all might never picked Mirio. I remember a few years ago I saw a video talking about how in the overhaul arc we never actually got proof as to why izuku is the better candidate for OFA and i have to actually agree. Izuku never ended up differentiating himself from Mirio and frankly we don't even have any logical reasoning from all might as to why it was izuku himself. Or it's how he broke the bystander effect and wanted to help bakugo even though he couldn't do anything that maybe inspired him to help this kids dream of becoming a hero become a reality but oh well I guess we will never know the true answer.

Not really surprising or shocking but I like that its confirmed that izuku has an afo hole in BOTH his hands.
But the most important thing is, lets not forget that izuku developing afo holes has nothing to do with yoichi. While its pretty obvious that yoichi has an underdeveloped afo quirk (because his brother took most of the nutriens in the womb), yoichi neither has holes in his hands nor can he "take" quirks, he can only "give". Yoichi isnt even inside izuku anymore, so by all means izuku shouldnt be able to use his quirk just how it is with the other vestiges. He is losing all the ofa quirks one by one but at the same time the holes in his hands are comming through. Izuku will lose ofa and gain afo instead. Because the only way to stop tomura is by stealing his quirks espicially decay and turning him harmless.
So izuku developing afo holes on his own can only happen out of two reasons.
1. There is an afo vestige inside ofa who was blocked by the other vestiges and now that izuku is losing them gains control.
2. Izuku was never quirkless to begin with, afo is indeed izukus father and izuku inherited the afo quirk.
It can only be one of these two. The reason why I dont think its the first is, because izuku showed signs of having the afo quirk LONG BEFORE he got ofa from all might. He showed the first signs since he was a toddler. His obsession with quirks, his ability to analyse how a quirk works almost INSTANTLY and writing everything in his notebooks, his mumbling habit which is considered as creepy by others, his tendency to speak and think in whole ass long monologes. These are all habits he has in common with only ONE person. And that person is afo. And again, he already showed them LONG BEFORE he got ofa. So Im pretty much to 100% sure izuku always had his own afo quirk and dr garaki just somehow "blocked" it by dads order.

My Thoughts On MHA Ending and Bakudeku
*MHA SPOILERS AHEAD*
This post is mainly gonna be me rambling but I wanted to get it out of my head before it consumes me whole. I cannot believe the ending we got. For multiple reasons. Deku being a teacher, Shigarki never being redeemed, but, most shockingly of all to me, the near complete victory Bakudeku shippers got---let me explain. For YEARS the main argument against Bakudeku was that Uraka/Deku was endgame and that, despite how much people shipped Bakudeku, it would NEVER be real. But then. But then, Hirokoshi didn't make Uraka/Deku cannon. Correct me if I'm wrong (please actually do if I am I kinda speed-read the last chapters in a haze) but Uraka and Deku were never confirmed to be dating. They were never confirmed to have dated. They were never confirmed to even have expressed feelings to each other and they sure as hell were never confirmed to have kissed---looking back on it, I don't know if ANYBODY kissed in the MHA manga, but, thats besides the point---Deku and Uraka were never confirmed to have been romantically involved. Which, just, blew my mind when I read that. Not because I was a super huge Uraka/Deku shipper but because I thought it was destined. Deku is the main male character, Uraka the main female one, and with hints at their relationship from the start that's just how super popular, mainstream stories go. Just like Aang and Katara from ATLA, but NOPE. Even more, he made Toga/Uraka cannon?!?! I'll be honest when I first saw Hirokoshi hinting at them being sexual towards one another I thought it was just fanservice and him being a creepy dude sexualizing lesbians (which I mean...he is doing) but their is WAY too much plot relevance and WAY too much actual romance for it to not be considered a real relationship. Both of them had unrequited feelings for Deku that they bonded over and formed an intense, but ultimately kinda beautiful relationship about. Hell, the last time Uraka and Deku interact in the manga it's just Deku comforting her about Toga dying. And yeah, you can argue their relationship grew with Uraka making that speech at UA and both of them being similar in their ultimate pursuit to save people, but, I feel like Toga/Uraka really throws a wrench in the whole possibility of their relationship. To me Uraka loving Toga felt like she was her moving on from Deku. So, already Bakudeku shippers have gained a major victory with the ambiguity of Uraka/Deku, but now it times to talk about the relationship of Bakudeku itself. Listen. I'm not really Bakudeku shipper. I never really read the manga for ANY ships, I was mainly just interested in the OFA/AFO lore. But. I have fucking eyes. And holy shit do they see a lot. You know the meme where its like "If you've been rivals for more than seven years you're no longer rivals, you're just gay?" Yeah. Yeah. Bakugo's redemption arc, him nearly dying several times to save Deku, him calling Deku "Izuku", him calling himself "Kacchan", Bakugo CONSTANTLY talking about "catching up to" Izuku, thinking about him and Dekus shared love for All Might while he dies, and, most damning of all I think, him crying because Deku lost his quirk and they "Can't be rivals forever/a while anymore" and then laughing with him bittersweetly. Like, holy shit. And then, the epilogue (which, I do have issues with the epilogue but that's besides the point) he mainly funded a, most likely very expensive super-suit, so Deku could be a hero again and they could continue being rivals. Like...????? Jesus christ dude. Like I don't know maybe I have gay glasses glued to my eyes but I don't know how else to read this. But, the argument I'm trying to make isn't that Bakudeku is cannon, or that their soulmates, my argument is that Bakudeku shippers have essentially won. Bakugo and Deku being friends and eternal rivals with neither of them having any canonical female love interests to Bakudeku shippers, who were shipping these two when they really shouldn't have, is victory. The ending of MHA is essentially victory for Bakudeku shippers. And that is WAY closer than I EVER thought Bakudeku shippers would get.

MHA fic promts/fics I want to see more of
Some of the members of 1-A (or any of the other classes) asking Shinsou to use his quirk on them for more mundane things in order to help him see that his quirk isn't villainous. (I mostly want this for Shinsou development, but also, I really enjoy seeing the kids use their quirks for mundane stuff.)
Class 1-A finds out Hagakure's costume is just gloves and boots and does something about it. (I've read a few fics with this premise, and I really want more. I love it when 1-A bands together to help eachother.)
Yaoyorozu and Todoroki as eachothers beards. (Or really any two characters acting as a fake partner for their friend to help them hide their actual partner.)
One for All with similar properties as the Avatar state. (Ok, this one is kinda vague, and also not the best description of what I'm going for, so let me be a little more specific. First, past OFA users appear as ghosts that only Midoriya can see. They just kinda hang around and comment on things while talking to him. And second, when Midoriya is under duress, the past users can possess him and act through him as one entity. Creepy OFA is so interesting to me. Also, I think it would be really cool if Nana Shimura could talk to All Might through Midoriya.)
Bakugo can be soft when he needs to be. (I have this headcanon that post series Bakugo uses his aggressive personality more like a mask that he can drop if he needs to. If something actually serious [ex. Someone having a panic attack or mental breakdown] is going on, he'll drop the rude persona to help the situation.)
(This one is definitely more crackfic, but also, it's funny to me, so) Every student at UA is attracted to Midoriya, Ururaka, or both. Even the couples have a hall pass (I think that's the word) for one or both of them. Nothing ever comes of this its just something all the students talk about with each other. Eventually, they all forget about it after they all graduate until years later, at a high school reunion party, someone gets a little drunk and reminds everyone about it. Which also causes Midoriya and Ururaka to spend the entire night going "wait you too" at literally everyone in the room. (Like I said, this is pure crackfic, but I also think it would be really funny.)
Bakugo babysitting Eri and just being the absolute worst influence. Like that girl is gonna kill someone. (Girldad Bakugo)

Shipping/Yuri aside, do you think what helped the Ochako & Toga plot-line be so well-received by fans compared to the Deku & Shigiraki one is that both of them are girls, so therefore they’re allowed to be “sappy” with each other which in turn made their interactions feel more genuine? Since this is a shounen manga and obviously you can’t have the male MC embracing his male arch-nemesis with both of them crying in each other arms and floating in the sky while being surrounded by pink energy/clouds.
Not saying it HAS to be that exact scenario for it to be genine, but I always felt that Horikoshi didn’t put enough effort into Deku forming any deep connection with Shigiraki and I can’t help but feel that maybe toxic masculinity might have played a role in it?
I don't think the tgchk fight was that well-received by everyone - some people loved it, some people hated it, some people were indifferent. On IMDB, it's not even in the Top 10 highest rated episodes of S7.
A lot of the hype came not from the storyline, but the yuri-bait shippy looking art, which made the bk/dk fandom very excited about it, seeing it as a possible sign that izch will be abandoned as endgame ship.
Hori used a lot of sentimental tricks - including a copious amount of "girls as cute little kids" and big erotic-looking panels to boost the emotional content.
To me, their interactions didn't feel all that genuine tbh - it was some of the most contrived, cringe dialogue I read in my life - and also it was a disappointment, because it shifted away from their PLF-war "Who is saved by the heroes?" - "Who saves heroes?" dynamic and built instead a simplistic "oh people find me creepy" "you are cute" kind of dynamic. All the rage / grief Toga carried about Twice, a possible confrontation with Hawks, etc. was thrown out for whatever we got.
But because it's simplistic, people can understand it easily and Hori bloated it as well with large extra panels - which let the emotions breathe.
I think in Izuku vs Shigaraki he was in trouble because he wanted to make Deku look both like a badass MC kicking the butt of his villain, but also as the compassionate person he is supposed to be.
To be fair to Izuku, I think he went even further than Ochako in reaching out - literally losing his arms in the process to respond to Tenko's need for validation, but all he got was a crappy little panel, where even the flashback is way bigger than what is actually happening.
Still, Tenko and Deku did get the equivalent of the floating girls panel.
But because their dynamic wasn't a 2-way dynamic, but they carried the AFO vs OFA plot with AFO, the vestiges, Deku as the MC carried every extra's highlight they didn't get a full chapter like 395 which did nothing but linger on naked Toga's emotions to make a decision to save Uraraka.
They got instead AFO comeback, Tenko's life being invalidated after Deku just validated it, the whole "everyone is becoming heroes together". There are 5 chapters worth of speedy checklist of plotlines:
Pointless AFO gave
Sero, Satou, etc. group
Aizawa - Mic - Kurogiri
Deku has no arm - Eri's horn -Deku has arm
Everyone arrives
Todorokis come back - Sero spotlight
Everyone helps Deku get to AFO with hasty spotlights on several characters
All Might / US pilots
The fucking US president - why? who knows
Ochako on the helicopter
Then we get more AFO flashbacks
Bakugou surprise return - obligatory glazing session - pointless reference to rivalry plot
And then, only then do we get back to Izuku and Tomura/Tenko. And if Hori had the same interest in drawing them as he had in drawing girls' bodies, he could have put this comeback in a chapter of its own like 395 - where he shows Tenko being saved by Nana, where he gives him a POV in joining the attack against AFO, where he acknowledges what Deku did for him, etc. But instead of luxurious and drawn in detail double pages, the boys get empty panels with awkward dialogue and some low quality doodles.
Like it's the same storybeat - but Horikoshi put effort into drawing the girls and next to zero effort into drawing Izuku and Tomura.
And yes, he's burnt out and what-not, but then he had 4 months to fix the volume, and still did only very little corrections to the Shigaraki - Deku scene. He could have expanded on Tenko and Nana (I expected he would), but instead, all he drew was more Toga and Uraraka.
At this point, there is no other explanation than Hori just got obsessed with his female characters and was drawing them for his own pleasure rather than fixing the lackluster treatment he gave to his MC and Shigaraki.

Let's talk more about Kudou - the fucking idiot commander - who's bright idea to save Japan in THE LAST OFA USER is to Kamikaze himself and sacrifice OFA to Shig?
...Ummm what? Am I meant to buy this guy commanded anyone?! 🤣😂🤣
He must have killed his whole squadron then if his plans are normally this level of idiocy.
All this realistically would do is power up Shig even more to make him UNSTOPPABLE and in the process doom both Izuku with Japan as a whole.
Hi @doodlegirl1998
Ok, first let´s all agree here Hori just wants to end this damn manga. So before I go into detail about this shit show, let´s talk about one good thing he did: He was nice to Yoichi. No, there was no gain for Kudou to be nice to Yoichi he did bc yes...granted maybe Kudou was bad to Yoichi in some form and we didn´t see, however, he can´t match AFO. He didn´t even know about ofa so him saving Yoichi was selfless.
That is his only good trait. He was nice to Izu 2.0
Now, let´s shit on this moron: He held a grudge against Izu for no reason, and some people TRY to justify "Ah ha DFO" which first off, Kudou was killed 200 years ago...how HE would know IZU IS AFO´S SON? Which btw, Izu is not AFO´s son and makes the whole justification lame ...this fandom will go beyond to protect any Bakugou, hm?
This MF wanted to buff with a kid who is fighting something WAY beyond his pay raise. Never mind how this MF refuses to work with the only hope to end AFO...for reasons (even if DFO became real, I don´t think his defenders realize how this makes him pathetic "He is fighting with a kid who has no idea of who is his father" like, my guy, Kudou and BRUCE is being incredibly stupid by beffing with Izu, regardless if afo is his dad or not. Again, fandom stop trying to defend this bozo)
It´s so unfair Izu to be saddled with the second coming of BK. Look, while BK may not be related to Kudou bc "AFO MURDER HIS ENTIRE FAMILY AND ALL WOMEN KUDOU EVEN SAID HI" I do think they are related spiritually, which honestly? This makes it worse.
Now, why Kudou start a revolution against AFO? The fandom preaches "EVIL EMPIRE" But no one ever talked about it, which if his empire was SO EVIL...I think we could see echoes of it. NOPE. All we see is AFO killing people (BAD, let me make clear it´s bad)but most of his killings seem to be out of the moment. Like, I know people want to see AFO like this smart and manipulative asshole "I killed this random Joe to further my ultimate goal" when in the canon is more like "LOL I´M EVIL"
Like we see AFO in a penthouse, for sure he killed people to get the penthouse, but while IS BAD, could this action result in LE REVOLUTION? Like, imagine if Kudou is rich and AFO random killed makes Kudou lose his money it´s a fair reason to hate him...but KUDOU HAS AN ARMY. Why do people follow him? Did AFO kill their loved ones and or steal money?
Hori: BK is the best in all forms.
Kudou didn´t get a single win! He was murdered by AFO, couldn´t protect Yoichi...and FOR SURE PEOPLE WERE MURDER UNDER HIS COMMANDER.
Now, his plan is to give his quirk to SHIG...Bc OFA has all suicidals morons (Nana included, sorry) and Izu is saddled with this(a choice Hori made, remember Chapter 1?) that wants to Kamizake, don´t forget En wanted to be the sacrifice bc Smokescreen is a useless quirk (I agree, hence why in my fic I want to change his quirk, I feel a smokescreen is smth Mei could create with her gadget)
The idea is to fight Shig inside Shig...So Izu, rip your shirt sexily and look like a demon...you will have sex now!
Bc apparently Shig has a hate feeding him, literally. He has a lump on his head...(Star is touched by Baby Tenko´s sadness...I mean, she doesn´t know Shig is Tenko so this makes sense) This makes me think of cancer or tumor....and Izu needs to fight Shig inside Shig...All this is based on a moron´s plan who has no INFO TO BASE THIS DECISION.
Remember when Izu analyzed quirks, he stopped bc IT WAS CREEPY (insert bemused emoji) and now we have Bk3 doing this, and Izu going ok with this. HE IS GIVING UP HIS QUIRK BC BK3 SAID SO (this is equally bad if Izu had given ofa to Bk)
I made jokes on the server about Izu and Shig having sex...but I still hate the chapter.
Also demon!Izu looks like Tanjirou from Demon Slayer.
#hori is a bad writer#a really bad one#izuku deserves better#I love asks#mha critical#bhna critical#anti bakugou#anti kudou#sgdk sex jokes are funny to me but heay Hori wont give Izu a lover#Hori created sgdk accidentaly imagine if it was a decision: “Those losers will never be Bk they bond on this” and he creates Sasunaru lol

Oh my god...
I just realized something about how some characters are treated, so I'm gonna quote Joshscorcher from one of his fails videos
"You aren't a person, you ARE a disability! You're not a human, you ARE a skin color! You're not alive, you ARE a checkbox!"
Doesn't that just fit some of the characters in BNHA to a T?
We got the crazy yandere! The hotheaded rival! The hardass teacher with a heart of gold! The black guy!
And of course! The disabled kid who magically gets cured to be like everyone else!
Hori seems to believe that if he just adds pieces of representation or tropes that people like, they will just eat it up without question.
Not even considering or bothering to think about actual backstory, personality, goals, likes or dislikes.
You know, things that make a character an actual character!
Hi @theloganator101 👋,
This fits how MHA treats it's characters to a T or at the very least they develop from Nuanced characters to a stereotype which is never what you want from a series. Also Hori even fails at fitting these characters into the cookie cutter molds he tries to contort them into at times.
Let's give a few examples based on what you have said above:
"Crazy Yandere and Token Bi" = Toga (which the LGBTQ fans of MHA should be offended by, because having a Yandere who is coded very creepily (yet also not condemned for her creepy behavior in general or how she groped Uraraka without consent) as prominent representation is not good...
"Sweet generic shonen love interest" = Uraraka (well this is what Hori intends for her with IzuOcha endgame even with how weakly its built in the series. And Uraraka herself denying her feelings for Izu and freely simping for Toga. I feel so sorry for Ocha fans, how she has been written with Toga is a complete mess.)
"Hardass Teacher with a heart of gold" = Aizawa (or this is what Hori intends for him realistically a lot of his actions under a critical lense read as malice at worse and negligence at best but go off about how he cares about his kids, Hori. Despite dropping a building on them and making them believe their parents are kidnapped by villains. Or the fact that he expelled tonnes of other students prior to 1A without a care - what makes 1A so special?)
"Hot headhead rival" = Bakugou... (Well this is meant to be him, narratively speaking, but rivals are meant to inspire and respect each other. Bakugou doesn't respect Izuku, Bakugou abuses Izuku and acts as his parasite. Bakugou brings Izuku down at every opportunity.)
"The 'token black/ blasian' characters" = Rumi and Rock Lock. (While I'd say Rock Lock is good black representation. Rumi... She's not my favourite. I like strong female characters but the way she's so aggressive and violence hungry as a hero - that rubs me the wrong way. Realistically, I could see her killing a villain by accident through use of excessive force. And I can't ignore that she's used as a stick for Hori's gore porn fetish which isn't a great look as one of Hori's few Blasian characters.)
"The disabled kid who gets magically cured to be like everyone else." - Midoriya Izuku. (You could say this is the case for All Might and Aoyama too but Izuku is the most prominent example as the main protagonist.) Izuku's story and the lack of how his backstory is touched on is one of the one that's the most upsetting parts of MHA to me. Personally, I have a disability and mine can't be fixed, while I accept and embrace it now, I didn't when I was Izuku's age. I would daydream about getting "fixed" and being like everyone else so I could fit in. As an adult, I have now achieved many things that I was told that I could not hope to ever be able to do - and I didn't need to be "fixed/ made normal" to do it. Instead, I worked my ass off to achieve those things.
Izuku's story would have been way more powerful if he trained relentlessly with All Might, stayed quirkless and achieved as much as his quirked peers.
OR, if he had to gain OFA, the cognitive dissonance between how he was treated then in his backstory vs now should heavily influence him. Either way, he should have grown out of "Kacchan" and told Bakugou, his bully and abuser, to fuck right off.
The fact that Izuku isn't allowed to think of his backstory or one negative thought of Kacchan severely limits him. And it's one of the things that has stunted him as a character. All Izuku is now is OFA 'generic shonen protagonist' who will save Shig and destroy All for One. What a waste.
TLDR - developing good characters is like nurturing a particularly fussy plant, you can put down the right soil (backstory) to get readers hooked but if you get lazy and don't water it regularly (develop plot points, think through what is in character rather than what you as the Author want them to do, have them show up regularly) it (the characters) will never grow.

Ask Game: How about bio dad might for Bakugo?
1- he puts him up for adoption like i do this ask- i kid i kid
lets try to make this fun, hmm
1- Ok so Toshinori gets Masaru pregnant (oh my god he's a support designer not unlike David. Toshi you can't keep doing this.) and the baby just has a boosted version of Masaru's tiny sparking palms, big explosion palms. because ofa i guess. Except, Masaru is like 'i dont think i can handle being All Might's lover publicly but also i don't think i can handle being a single parent' so when Mitsuki is like Interested he just jumps on that immediately. Toshi figures the baby is safer with a normal couple, pays child support and gets sent pictures occasionally, but doesn't want to impose any more, tho tbh both of the bakugous would be fine if he did.
2- Katsuki has no idea btw. He was told once that Mitsuki was actually his step mom and he didn't believe it. Both his parents figured he didn't need a bigger ego and didn't tell him the truth but did have a lot of fun giggling over getting him All Might merch. This sounds funny now but oh man will it contribute to issues once he knows the truth-
3- speaking of issues, Toshinori does recognize the kid in the slime that the previous kid in the slime is rescuing. he doesn't say anything, but he's extremely glad that this perfect worthy successor kid happened to also save his son. In a panic of losing someone he's never really had, Toshi asks Masaru if he could meet Katsuki in person, maybe start visiting. They and Mitsuki discuss it (complete with injury reveal) and decide why not, though continue to keep his identity a secret. So Toshi spends three hours a day as All Might, and the rest of his time is focused on training Izuku, and in rare breaks from that, hanging out with the Bakugous. Katsuki takes a month before he really believes this guy is who his parents say he is, but he decides the training tips aren't half bad- for a toothpick coughing up gallons of blood every day. For his own part, Toshinori doesn't really pick up anything amiss yet in the family- remember at this point, Katsuki has started to leave Izuku alone, and wouldn't mention him to Toshi anyway. Busy with training and not getting into trouble, none of the more questionable of Mitsuki's and Masaru's parenting choices would be causing much issue or be obvious then.
4- And then UA starts, and on the first day, Toshi watches behind a building as his son attacks his successor, and is as surprised as he is unhappy. but he's not sure how to bring it up, or to fix anything. So he just tries bridging things as All Might for Izuku and as Yagi-san for Katsuki, which... is a process, and also crazy that none of the students realize anything is up there. But so it goes. highlights of things that actually get better because of this: at one point, as Katsuki tells Yagi-san that its a problem because Deku is supposed to be quirkless, Yagi tells him that he's quirkless. Based on his parents expression, Katsuki assumes they didn't know either, but it doesnt make any sense because Yagi isn't annoying and creepy and weak like Deku, he's good at giving hero advice and- oh. oh katuski doesn't like that realization and shoves it down deeper, but also doesn't bite as much about it. Also, Katsuki admits how awful All Might giving him the medal at the SF was for him, and Yagi is very quiet. All Might apoligizes to him the next day.
highlight of something that is so much worse: the final exam.
5- SO THE REVEAL its gotta be at kamino right. The Idiot Rescue Squad has succeeded and are watching the news, and see... All Might lose power on camera. Izuku is already basically in tears, but at the sight, Katsuki reacts by going "OTHER DAD???" which shocks Izuku out of feeling anything else but "WHAT DID YOU JUST CALL HIM???"
there's a lot of shocked screaming. Iida can't even say anything and Kirishima is on the ground giving up trying to understand as Katsuki and Izuku realize how they're both connected to All Might.
The police finally come help take the kids home. No one dares breathe too loudly or text anyone, afraid of another explosion of conversation like that. For his part, Katsuki is going to shake answers out of Toshi as soon as he steps into the house, no attempting to hide behind Aizawa will make it better. Once that... ordeal of a visit and explanation is done, Toshi wearily suggests he have the conversation with the Midoriyas alone. Aizawa looks at the Bakugos, looks at Toshinori, and is like 'oh hell no im not missing this for the world. lets go round two'

Yoichi Introducing himself
I always found it weird how the first time Yoichi spoke to Deku, the former presented his story on how he got imprisoned as besically an epic movie, yet he didn't bother to introduce himself first. How do you want to befriend someone and trust them with your traumatizing backstory, yet you don't think they should know your name?
This combined with Yoichi giving a very vague explanation on the bad things his brother did, like mentioning AFO toyed with people he made deals with, but not giving even one vague example on what happened to those people after accepting the deals, or not mentioning that his brother has been always evil made me suspicious of Yoichi. Sure, his brother is a villain and shouldn't be trusted, but just because Yoichi is against him, that doesn't mean he's presenting his brother accurately. Not helping was that when Yoichi claimed that the villain always loses he pulled what seemed like an evil smile. Now, this wasn't proof to me he was evil or anything. That kind of smile can be pulled is also commonly caused by nervousness or feelings of revenge, which are not necessarily evil. However, that smile did not seem heroic to me at all either.
I was hoping it would be revealed that Yoichi isn't all that well in the head and that he is so obsessed with stopping his brother that he is losing his sense of self, to the point of forgetting how to properly introduce himself and build new relationships, instead seeing Deku more as a soldier meant to stop AFO rather than an actual friend and that the other OFA users would've sort of followed his steps without realizing how unhealthy this is. It would've also been ironic if it turned out that AFO actually bothers more than Yoichi to build relationships, even if for purely selfish purposes. It would've been even more ironic if it turned out AFO did feel genuine empathy for his followers, if his plan to make Tomura his successor and all the times he showed concern over others he was genuine. It would've been so ironic if it turned out that he number 1 villain has better social skills and cares more about those on his side that the praised hero, albeit not known by many, who passed on the power that can stop said villain. I didn't wish necessarily for Yoichi to have been revealed as evil all along, but he didn't act natural in his introduction at all and this didn't have any payoff whatsoever.
I could've accepted Yoichi being an ideal hero and AFO being inherently evil if 1) their backstoriy wasn't as ridiculous as them raising themselves since they were babies, 2) Yoichi's introduction wasn't so suspicious and vague and 3) if AFO acted like a (relatively) realistic psychopath, instead of his pathetic, cartoonishly evil self who doesn't even make sense as inherently evil, since he has at least an ounce of genuine care for his brother. I still would've preferred a nuanced approach to these characters, but their black and white portrayals would've been passable if they were somewhat realistic and not all over the place at least.
I feel like Horikoshi did intend originally to make these characters more gray originally, but Shonen didn't let him, at least not entirely. This is just speculation of course, and there are plenty of issues I noticed from the story's beginning that are not Shonen's fault, like All Might giving his quikr to Midoryia the first day he met the kid just because the latter tried to save Bakugou, in a stupid way nonetheless. However, those problems, while nonsensical, were not really vague nor was there any creepy imagery unless there was something bad happening. With most of MHA problems, those at the beginning at least, it feels like they were made with passion at least. AFO and Yoichi's arcs later in the story feel shoehorned in and bitter. Again, just speculation. Just because it seems to me like this personally, it doesn't mean it is true.

WEEK 4 OF READING MY HERO ACADEMIA EVERYDAY!!! (Vol 22-28)
First off, Juzo Honenuki is my favorite character of class 1-B. Idk why lol his design is weird but cool, his quirk is so powerful, he sounds like a very chill dude IDK!
And now... BLACKWHIP! LET'S GO! IT'S MY FAVORITE OFA QUIRK!!!!!!! AND I LOVE THE TROPE OF CHARACTERS LOSING CONTROL OF THEMSELVES/THEIR POWER!!! YEYEEEAAAAH
Aizawa training Shinso is something i wish we could have seen more of T_T Aizawa cares so much and Shinso is trying so hard to be worth his time and i'm just AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA (also you can pry my hc that PresentMic also trained Shinso from my cold dead hands <3)
And Izuku giving compliments on Shinso's fighting style and omg I just love this green bean haha
(Also, first Oboro's first appearance??? I think??? woah)
omg baby Shigaraki :(((( he looks so small
Dabi refusing to help with Gigantomachia just to spend more time with Hawks. I know what you are lol
Twice being concerned for Giran :((((( Calling him his friend :(((( damn... Twice you deserve the world
....Damn long haired Shigaraki is kinda..... haha and him killing a bunch of people during the mla fight. Just... wow Shigaraki. sorry i didnt realize sooner lol He's so cool his design is so cool he deserved better
Himiko killing a bunch of people using Ochaco's quirk is still so cool!!! Curious was like oh poor little girl it must be so hard to be you and Himiko was like "nah" haha
Oh...Oh Shigaraki's past... oh no. This is so gruesome!!! omg his mom reached out to him anyway i'm so DOOOOONE!!!! I FORGOT HOW BAD IT WAS. I always found it weird how the Doctor was able to bring back the hands from each family member but turns out his quirk was cutting people up, not dusting them at the time????
ANOTHER GREAT CLOSE UP OF TOMURA!!! IT'S SO WELL DRAWN!!! HE LOOKS SCARY
Wow the panel with a laughing Shigaraki surrounded by debris and dirt is SOOOO COOL haha
(I'm sorry, reading the holiday chapter while i'm less than a week away from halloween is kinda funny)
Shoto keeps riping into Endeavor. That's so funnnnyyyyyy
Natsuo, fashion icon with his Front/Back shirt haha
Oh i forgot the Aizawa/Yamada/Kurogiri talk would happen soon... ow... Aizawa saying the power of friendship won't do shit (funny) Aizawa looking sadly at Kurogiri remembering his friend (very not funny)
HOLY SHIT THE PANEL WHERE YOU CAN KIND OF SEE OBORO'S FACE WOAAAAH SO COOL AND CREEPY WOAH
Anyway... Hawks... i know what you're about to do... i know it.... i'm going to have to relive this.
(The manga is presenting everything good the Doctor Ujiko did and then they show the Sun Kindergarten(idk if thats the right name) and i'm just here suffering because thats where Touya ended up when he woke up from his coma... the pain!!!)
Mirko is so so cool <3 i couldnt wait to see her fight!!!!
Oh i loooove foreshadowing. There's a panel of a bunch of member of the plf that are runninf towards the main fight at Gunga and you can see Dabi slightly in the background going in another direction... oh... this is going to go baaaad
Under here is me having a breakdown vvv ;)
THERE IT GOES. SCARY HAWKS IS HERE. I FEEL SO BAD FOR TWICE HAWKS YOU'RE SUCH AN ASS I HATE YOU (you look so cool) YOU SAY YOU DIDNT WANT TO FIGHT TWICE BUT IDK WHAT TO THINK ANYMORE. WHY DO YOU LOOK SO SAD. FUUUUUUCK!!!! I HATE YOU I HATE YOU I HATE YOU
AND THEN ONE OF TWICE DOUBLE SAVES HIMIKO AND SHE TELLS HIM THANKS BUT LIKE THE DOUBLE'S MEMORIES DONT GO TO THE ORIGINAL SO TWICE DIED NOT KNOWING IF HIMIKO IS ALRIGHT AND IM JUST AAAAAAAAAAAA
^^^ breakdown finishes ;)
(to be honest I like Hawks story as a character too much to hate him fully but damn. I *hate* him for what he did to Twice.)
Tokoyami stays #1 in my heart anyway 🥰
OOOHHH the panel when Shigaraki wakes up from his coma to become stronger!!
Unconscious + injured Hawks are the best kind of Hawks 🥰
Omg Aizawa saying that there's no way he's letting his students down and you see all of class 1-A AND SHINSO 🥺🥺🥺 Aizawa the man that you are
_______
And that's it for this week!!! There was a lot of things i forgot about the Gunga fight! I don't even want to think about the Hawks/Twice moment!

You know makes Kudou's comments so weird is that he read Izuku's memories without his consent. But besides that, all long did Kudou know this information about Izuku? Do the other previous holders know about this and why haven't they said anything to izuku to help address his mental issues or try and resolve this moral dilemma what are these ghosts even good for besides their quirks?
THIS!!!!
At this point Iam convinced that horikoshi introduced the vestiges for the sake of introducing them because let's be honest they barely contribute anything to the story and aren't important at all except of nana and yoichi.
The whole memory reading thing seems like a horrible plot point to me because let's be honest if they were able to see this child's memories then why did the not help him at all with anything. Horikoshi hasn't really developed izuku and izuku still thinks badly of himself and doesn't view himself worthy of the quirk but the OFA user's never reassure izuku or really help him. The best thing we got from them is nana telling izuku to kill Tenko and banjo just shouting at Izuku telling how to control the quirk. Sadly none of these help and the whole second and third users of OFA having a problem with Izuku is so forced in my opinion. Like there is no logic behind it and they still somewhat have a problem with him.
Out of topic but have you ever wondered why it's only gear shift that somehow hurts and really damages izuku like to me it makes no sense is it supposed to be some sick and twisted symbolism of how kudo (bk2.0) hates izuku?!?! Why is gear shift the only quirk that hurts him? I mean like considering the fact that quirks get stronger each generation then the quirk that should harm him most is nana's but we never see float damage izuku in any way.
To me the ghosts are a horrible plot point and so is OFA as a whole like the vestiges have weak QUIRKS at best, barely help or offer anything to izuku and just sit around in that vestige world. Also isn't it creepy how kudo can just see everything but izuku has to be granted the permission to see memories and can't go around seeing other vestiges memories?!?!?

A New AU List of Fics I ACTUALLY Want to Write/Am Writing (Mostly BNHA)
Fics Being Written
Pulling on the Strings of Destiny: A reading the future fic with a single teen mom Fem!Izuku. Long term project.
Pairings: EraserMic right now. I do have other pairings in mind, but as of now am not quite announcing.
TUMBLR TAG/AO3
Mission: Woo Izuku Series: Thanks to a quirk, Izuku's future potential partners are revealed to the world. Mostly pure shenanigans and a lot of ocs. Semi Crossover for Shits and giggles with Dragon Age
Pairings: Izuku/Everyone Basically. EraserMic, Warden/Zevran, Kamui Woods/OC (has not been shown yet but is planned), Hawke/Merrill
On AO3 (I kept switching the stupid tag on tumblr and gave up trying to figure it out)
Diverging Paths: A series where Fem!Izuku is put into an arranged marriage with various people. Long Term Project, multiple 'routes'.
Pairings: IiDeku, TodoDeku, TokoDeku, MonoDeku, HawksDeku (sort of? not really?) Others depending on the fic.
On AO3/On Tumblr
Izuku's Many Siblings: A ridiculous AU where Izuku has multiple siblings. Mostly shits and giggles.
Pairings: Midoriya Inko/Pixie Bob, OC/Dabi
On AO3
Not A fic... Yet, but either being plotted or is being written
Aphrodite Rising: A Fem!Izuku AU where her Quirk is Attract Info, gaining her the ability to gain information on people who find her attractive. She gains OFA as well.
Pairings: OT4 (Iida Tenya/Uraraka Ochako/Midoriya Izuku/Todoroki Shouto), All Might/Midnight, Aizawa/Fatgum, Mic/Thirteen, Midoriya Inko/Tsukauchi Naomasa, others... (it's a rarepair hell)
TUMBLR TAG/AO3 (not on yet)
Purge!AU (The Purge of Heroes? Title unknown): HPSC decides to go through the hero ranks and remove a good portion of heroes who are: incompetent, glory hounds, cruel heroes, caused to much collateral, didn't meet a quota or even just they weren't useful in some cases. This happens before Izuku goes to UA, and a lot of things changed.
Pairings: So far leaning towards OT3 (Tenya Iida/Midoriya Izuku/Uraraka Ochako)
Tumblr Post
Unnamed MASH AiDeku Soulmate AU (Titled as 'Tumblr Made me Do it' as of now, open to change): Age swaped Shinsou, Jirou, Kaminari, Tokoyami, Aizawa, Mic, Midnight and Kurogiri, Magical MASH soulmate stuff is a thing. Disabled Fem!Izuku, Uraraka and Iida. Jirou is Izumi's cousin... kind of crazy.
Pairings: Age changed AiDeku, ShinJiro, MicNight (more later)
Tumblr Post
Predator and Prey AU: Soulmate HawksDekuNatsu with Yandere!Hawks and Natsuo. Murder, drama, a lot of creepy shit.
Pairings: HawksDekuNatsu, one sided TodoDeku, other couples.
Original Tumblr Post/Tumblr Tag
The Fathers of Izuku: Inko went to a sperm bank to have Izuku. However, they found out way later the bank used sperm 'stolen' from HPSC facilities. Said sperm was that of heroes. Izuku is now possibly the child of multiple heroes. Would be various stories with different fathers. (Due to an incident where a few heroes got hit by a villain who could make them sterile, teen heroes also had their sperm taken to. Mostly done for shits and giggles.)
Pairings: Multiple.
No Tumblr Tag yet...
Fics I Have written on AO3 that... I really wanna keep going at, but may take a while. Might do rewrites?
Midoriya Izuku: The Game: Gamer Quirk AU! That's... all I can say. Might rewrite? I like it but lost a lot of interest for some reason...
On AO3
Omega Quirk: Izuku has a Quirk that makes him like an Omega from fanfiction.
On AO3
Decagon: The Supportive Hero: Izuku has a Quirk that lets him boost other Quirks.
On AO3
Devotion to the Aesthetic: Fem!Izuku is a youtuber and loves American/Canadian 1950s stuff.
On AO3

BNHA Eyes and Mouths Analysis
BNHA has a dichotomy set up between two repeating motifs: visible eyes with covered mouths, and visible mouths with covered eyes.
For visible mouths and covered eyes, AFO and All Might are the prototype. Every instance of covered/obscured eyes with a visible mouth is, in some way, a reference to one or both of them.
For covered mouths and visible eyes, there are a couple different things one could call "the prototype," including Tomura Shigaraki (yes, the hand technically covers his whole face, but the "creepy eye peeking out" look is iconic and is what defines him early on). There's just way LESS of a "prototype" here and less of a need for one, though, because there's less of a need to allude to any one character.
But if there IS a true "prototype" covered mouths reference, I'm gonna loooosely suggest it's the Sludge Villain scene.
BNHA eyes-and-mouths theory posits two things: that eyes are the window to true emotion, and mouths are narrative-maker.
Let's talk mouths!
Covering a character's mouth is one of the quickest ways to indicate that they need saving. Not the only one, and you can't consistently expect it (Number 6 comes to mind, for example, as a character who could really use saving despite his imagery more regularly referencing AFO). But it sure does come up a lot!
When I say "mouth as narrative-maker," I'm largely talking about an association the text has between the mouth and control. The phrase narrative-maker comes from:
trying to explain the link between the mouth and control
AFO as storyteller
All Might as a symbol
Bakugo is a character whose covered-mouth imagery is EVERYWHERE. We have the sludge villain scene and the muzzle as the most obvious instances, but I would say the entire existence of Best Jeanist and relationship between those two characters—i.e. Jeanist's early distaste for the way Bakugo presents himself to the world—is another tally on this list.
Bakugo is also a character who grew up both expecting and exerting a lot of control. In fact, I would say his current struggle is defined by accepting that he is not built by his own two hands alone, so that gives you an idea of how reliant he was on building himself on his own, and how much leeway he had to really believe that. How much control he has felt until now.
We see that control challenged in the vs. Todoroki fight, when he doesn't get to win the way he wants to because how other people run their lives doesn't need to account for that. He doesn't get to rise in the way he planned to. He is not the only character in this ecosystem. And that is always, mandatorily, going to impact both his identity in other people's eyes, and who he becomes in reality.
He's muzzled and forced to take the first place pedestal anyway, and once unmuzzled, the medal is placed in his mouth—something I want to argue is similar enough to the "eat this" passing of OFA from All Might to Midoriya that I want to come back and talk imbibing at a later date.
(Also under that imbibing pin: OFA, AFO consuming those quirks/vestiges. Himiko Toga. And, and thank you Jacob for this one: Shigaraki vomiting, a recurring occurrence.)
During the Dark Hero Arc (aka Villain Hunt, among many other aka's) is the first time in a very long time that Midoriya has worn his full mask, and, specifically, that metal grate over his smile. It's reminiscent of All Might's smile, but it's him disappearing behind the weight of legacy.
Tomura Shigaraki is introduced as a guy with spooky eyes poking out of an otherwise completely covered face. He also is not the big bad.
The thing is I've been wanting to post about covered eyes and covered mouths in BNHA for MONTHS, and then I finally got this into a Twitter thread before transcribing it here. I see now that it really only covers covered mouths. We'll be back for eyes, real soon. In the meantime, here's a good thread Jacob made about it.
#finally migrating this over from Twitter!#mha#bnha#mha analysis#bnha analysis#gonna start making some of my mha meta posts here

U know when u have an idea for a fanfic that would be amazing and u really wanna write it so u can read it but liiiiikkkkkkkeeeeeeeee
*looks at overflowing pile of unfinished fanfics and stories*
…
…
So here a my hero fic for anyone that’s wants to do anything with it 😁
(I mean let’s be honest that’s 99% of the reason for this blog but anyway)
So this is a ‘Izuku has a quirk’ fic and it was the quirk idea itself that inspired this.
His quirk is called “haunting fears” and has a couple of parts to it.
When his quirk is activated it covers an area around him (the size it up to u) and while the exact way it changes varies there r a few things that always happen. Those being a heavy fog takes over the area, the area get a bit darker (even in direct daylight) and everyone in the area gets an overwhelming feeling of dread.
The second part of the quirk is the kicker though. It can see a persons fears/regrets and well… haunts them with it. Like full haunted house shit by means of hallucinations.
Side note: while u don’t have to use this aspect of the quirk I like the idea that it made Izuku stop aging. This will mean even without the hallucinations the seconds part of his quirk has, he can still pull off scary ghost kid vibes.
As an eg of the quirk I’ll describe how it would work on Aizawa.
So the first part is standard, heavy fog, low light and a primal fear, perhaps Izuku giving off a creepy giggle now and again to. Then from the fog he will hear his name.
“Shota.”
He looks around to find the source but can’t as it calls again.
“Shota.”
This time he’s certain he recognises this voice and starts having to really focus to say calm as it keep speaking.
“You left me Shota.”
“U couldn’t save me.”
“I thought we were meant to protect each other.”
“But u didn’t. U left me.”
At this point Aizawa is fully freaked out and yells for the person to show themselves. Just then a figure can be made out in the fog. Aizawa freezes in place as he sees Oboro standing in the fog with his head down.
“U left me to die.” Oboro lifts his head to show the broken goggles and blood drinking down his face
(From here u can pretty much go where u want)
So yeah, I feel like this has potential for a lot of different stories. A villain Izuku would be really good but I personally like the idea of Izuku striving to becomes a hero even with a ‘villainous’ quirk.
How OFA works into this is also up to u. Personally I would have it that izuku doesn’t get OFA but I can imagine it being that the first part of his quirk was always the same but the full blown hallucinations only came after getting OFA bc it kinda beefed up his quirk maybe.
Like I said u can take this a lot of ways and I really wanna see something with this so if u do write this please let me know ☺️
