One thing that I really love about Idia is his shipper soul. Like he is the representation of the whole vibe in the anime "Kiss Him, Not Me". I am a shipper at heart but Idia? I believe that even when he has someone into him, his reclusive nature and the fact that he sees them with other people as a "better pair" would doom him.
Thats also a reason why I really like ships with Idia would 1000% without doubt ship them with somebody else. Like that's so funny imagine trying to flirt with someone, and they just keep bringing up other men.
Just imagine Leona trying to ask him out to play chess or something in a meeting (its that or in the botanic garden and I do not believe Idia to be brave enough to go there if it's not night), and he just brings Malleus up for his shipper soul.
Leona: *trying to get a chess game or something with Idia* Idia(tablet): how are you and malleus doing Leona: What.
That's canon in my heart just because it would be so FUNNY. I am also an "Idia is one of the hottest characters" believer, and him being completely oblivious to the fact AND just into shipping his classmates is so real to me.

Laying in bed thinking of Leonide
She’s spent years working for Barish-Estranza and is from the Corporation Rim. She sees other humans as property, and does not care about their rights or dignity
And she comes across this weird group of academics who not only think people have rights and should be respected (ICK!), they treat their PROPERTY with that same level of consideration?
She must be looking at these people like Boomers look at Millennials who treat their dogs better than the Boomers raised their own children

System Collapse—SPOILER!!!
Her gaze flicked around, checking for the human supervisor who should be here. I don’t think she thought I was a rogue; if she had, I think she would have called for backup or tried to retreat. Her jaw set in a grim line. “Is this a threat?”
Oh Leonide! Can Leonide and Gurathin get together in a room at some point and just have a bit of a share? Can you imagine it?
Leonide—I said “You’re the SecUnit.” Can you believe it? Then “Is this a threat?”
Gurathin, taking a sip of coffee—Don’t feel bad, I said “It calls itself Murderbot”
Leonide—Holy fuck! You win, what did it do?
Gurathin—I think we have the footage somewhere…

In 1961, at just 27 years old, Leonid Rogozov was the sole physician stationed at a Soviet Antarctic research station. His skills were put to the ultimate test when he developed acute appendicitis—a life-threatening condition that required immediate surgery. Trapped in the remote wilderness of Antarctica, where evacuation was impossible due to severe weather conditions, Rogozov faced a dire situation: the only way to save his life was to perform an appendectomy on himself.
On April 30, 1961, Rogozov prepared for the operation with meticulous care. Using local anesthesia, he enlisted the help of two colleagues, who handed him surgical instruments, held a mirror for better visibility, and adjusted the lighting. Despite the challenges of performing the procedure on himself, including battling pain, nausea, and the psychological stress of operating on his own body, Rogozov successfully removed his inflamed appendix in a grueling operation that lasted nearly two hours.

Leona naps and dates
I love the "nap date" concept when people talk about Leona because it just feels so real like if you tell me that in canon he has nap dates I would 100% believe it. I always felt like his constantly tired mood is just the most obvious way that his depression shows, but at the same time he just enjoys sleeping.
Imagine Leona sleeping with Idia at his side or something, like a cat showing that he trusts someone and sleeping in his lap. Such a little thing that really shows how much he trusts somebody. Because, yeah, he can and will fall asleep in anyplace he knows nobody can (or will even try) so something to him. But that and sleeping with someone are two very different things, you know.
I just really love the concept of nap dates or just Leona napping with someone he trusts (if you can't tell, I'm a leonidia shipper at heart)

If I'm counting characters I actually care about and not counting memes, then it's her. Leonide
Tumblr media
So. My life is worse . I know some of y'all in the MB fandom are horny for her which I understand but like. She is also a scum of the earth corporate supervisor who values herself over her employees. She might not be that bad of an actual roommate, but she would absolutely judge me and think she's way better than me

My reflexive reading of this is that Leonide was in fact talking about Murderbot when she said that!
We know it's made the news from its exchange with ART on the subject - ART says it didn't imply to its crew that the SecUnit it had met was every SecUnit on the news during the time interval between ASR and NE, then MB thinks an aside that it actually might have been the only SecUnit in the news during that time. And we know that Mensah and PresAux were publicly criticized for letting a rogue SecUnit just wander off.
Now think about what that SecUnit was in the news for doing.
It didn't just fight other SecUnits, it took down multiple CombatBots essentially by itself on that terraforming platform. It took on three other SecUnits and a CombatSecUnit at once while extracting a client from under their noses, took down all the SecUnits and outmaneuvered the CombatUnit, hacked systems all over TranRollinHyfa, and finally took on, neutralized, and survived a killware attack designed to take down a large warship, which is kind of like a tugboat taking an attack meant for the Admiral Nimitz and surviving enough to be repaired and recommissioned. The news stories would have all included the information that this was originally a Company SecUnit, and its ability to operate entirely independently, well outside any possible distance limit, would have made it clear that it was an ungoverned construct, whether or not it included clarification that it had hacked its own governor module rather than its sentimental hippy new owners having deactivated the thing.
Now what do you do with that information if you're the Company?
You spin it for advertising exactly the same way Arada does - "Our Units are Particularly, Awesomely Effective: Durable, Intelligent, and Loyal! (Maybe this is used to bolster persuasive arguments urging the clients to for pity's sake listen to their contracted unit's security recommendations. That people don't do that probably annoys a lot of admin personnel at the Company just as much as it does SecUnit.)
And what do you do with that information if you're a rival to the Company in the matter of supplying SecUnits?
You emphasize how dangerous Company units are, which, sure, is nice if they decide they like you after they hack their obviously inferior governor modules but imagine what it's like if they decide they don't! Unlike our units, which have much better governor modules and are overall far less scary, look how docile they are.
I wonder if the Company footage (they canonically are recording everything, everywhere, all the time) of Mensah standing down MB by standing up to it ever leaked to newsfeeds. On the one hand, yeah, MB stood down. On the other hand - nobody else seeing that video is Ayda Mensah, or has Ayda Mensah on their team. An irreducible number of security personnel like to imagine themselves as badass as Mensah, but the admin people making the decisions know perfectly well that they aren't!
So as far as Leonide is concerned in that scene, she and Arada had a little showdown spouting competing propaganda, and Arada won. And then she encounters the same SecUnit again planetside and things get really, really weird.
what leonide says in network effect—"Company units have a reputation for being dangerous" (Network Effect, pg. 221)—is SOOOOOOO fucking interesting because. i think this is like the one detail we get about the Company that murderbot itself doesn't give us
murderbot talks about the Company with internal knowledge—it doesn't mention the Company's reputation. the presaux crew talks about the Company in tandem with the CR; it's all equally horrible to them. so this is the first... not unbiased, but first real outside perspective we get of the Company, that gives us actual context for where murderbot came from
this, coupled with the detail that Three, unlike murderbot, was allowed to communicate w/ other secunits and work together makes me wonder just what is or is not actually typical with secunits. i wonder... was the Company, of all the secunit manufacturers/renters, worse?
"Company units have a reputation for being dangerous." why? do they "malfunction" more? are they taken advantage of by third parties more (combat modules, the ganaka pit hack, etc.)? are they kept alone, obedient, disposable, until they can't endure it? until they go rogue?
i am so curious.
