i think it is OKAY to just consume a song for how it makes you feel. but as far as interacting with a song via commentary/fanart etc goes, there are some real fucking horror stories of people used to not looking further than surface level interacting with incredibly sensitive source material.

on one hand, i get it, i dont always want to think over a songs meaning or implications or story or whatever. but ok the other hand there are songs where you simply DO NOT HAVE TO. im not gonna say some stupid gatekeeper bullshit about being a real fan, because thats just not the point. you can casually like one song from an artist and still understand what it means and what its about. its literally just about respect.
