Club Music - Club Music Vol. 1 (2019)
Genre: EBM, new beat, electro-industrial
Length: 18:16
Crunching, heavy basslines. Marching 4/4, repetitive beats. Tingling, Miami Vice style hi-hats. The periodic and ominous ring of a church bell. The atmosphere that this album creates is immense, dark, and felt deeply in the hearts of those of us who have been born in and grew up in the unashamedly capitalist post-1991 world. The political message behind an album that barely has any lyrics beyond subdued vocal samples is this: the world is coming to an end, our only hope is in revolution – and you ought to dance your ass off before any of those two happen.
At least, that's the sense that I get from it. It's a surreal experience, dancing to this album in the imperial core. Obviously, the original album cover posted here bears the hammer and sickle, so I can only infer that song titles like Western World and Human Extinction are supposed to invoke those themes. All the songs share a similar style, starting with simple, minimalistic beats that gradually evolve into intricate, almost ambient industrial compositions. I highly recommend this little gem of an album to anyone who enjoys EDM and its endless variations. My favorite song on this album is Western World.
