Okay, I’ve gone through a lot of shit in these past few hours so if yall don’t want to here me ramble about stuff that doesn’t matter please skip this post. Rant will be under the cut.
I literally have not emotionally cried in like physically in years. Not when I’m sad or terrified or anything, the only times I’ve been crying are when it’s physical response to dry eyes or something like that. This could be a huge problem for me due to the fact that I fully intend on trying to go into acting and theater.
I’m pretty sure it’s like, trauma related which I’m not going to go into because that shit is far too horrible to put onto the internet in a non-anonymous fashion. Like, I get sad and disappointing but I just can’t fucking cry. All of this and I don’t even remember the last time I felt really truly happy.
It’s not like a I have a bad life now, I just feel a constant weight on my shoulders that I can’t really identify. I mean, I know I’m trans so it surely can’t all be my dysphoria, right? I just look to the future and I see a low likely-hood of me being able to do what I have fun doing. Idk I’m just not feeling great at all
I look at most of life with neutrality or negativity. Most of the time I’m indifferent, annoyed, or just aggravated. I’m not diagnosed with any mental illnesses but I don’t think my parents had ever gotten me checked and at this point I’m too scared to because the largest argument that my step-father uses when I mess up is “You’re neurotypical you should’ve learned not to do this ages ago” when it’s like, a paper plate I forgot to throw away or a small mess I didn’t clean up because I was in a rush.
literally the last time I broke down at school and made a suicide comment when I got home he threw his narcotic sleeping pills at me and told me to take them. I didn’t obviously because my bottle had already finished exploding and was back at the normal levels and he says despite my history of trauma “You should talk to me because I care and am more trust-worthy than some therapist who may have credentials but doesn’t give a shit about you and for every hour of therapy you get I have to do 10 hours of work to get you it”
On a bit of an unrelated note ever since I was really small I’ve always been really money conscious. Like, I remember the first week after my parents split I was crying my eyes out and my mom asked If I wanted to go get ice cream and I said I didn’t want ice cream because I knew we were already falling back on bills and I was a smart kid so I knew how important those were.
I’m just so fucking tired of this shit and it’s worse because I don’t know what I’m fucking tired of and I’m too much of a wimp to take myself out especially because they’ve already bought christmas gifts and I don’t want them to have wasted money on a person who offed themselves before they could ever fucking enjoy them.
I keep telling myself to wait until after the holidays because then I’ll be getting something that will finally solve my gender dysphoria and shit but that thing was hella expensive and I just feel bad??? I fucking.. just... whatever. post over go home.

Okay... For those of you who believe that Korkie IS a Kenobi, how do you justify the lying?
Before I start ranting I want to be clear, I'm not here to yuck anyone's yum, if this theory makes the story better for you, that's awesome, if they decide to make this canon, I'm on board, but for me...
I just can't justify it, especially if you believe they carried on an affair after their reunion. Now, I've seen plenty of fics where they don't, they remain professional and don't see or talk to each other between the reunion arc and the Lawless. This I can kind of accept (and in all honesty, is probably what happened in canon), but it absolutely does not change the fact that Satine would have had to look him in those big beautiful eyes and hide the fact that he had a son. More than once.
I understand there is a concern about safety here. I get that. I understand that no one else knows who Korkie is, but I don't understand why Obi-Wan doesn't know.
Maybe he did know? Yeah, I don't think so. I really believe he would have had a huge crisis of conscience and duty had he known. His duty (not just his heart) would have actually split, he couldn't pretend like his only loyalty was to the order anymore, he has a son and he would want to protect him, at the very least would have gone looking for him after the fall of Mandalore. I think it's pretty safe to say that, if Korkie is his son, he doesn't know.
Now, here's the part that I can't make heads or tales of, we know that she didn't ask him to stay after that year together at least in part because she didn't want to make that choice for him... THIS IS HER MAKING A CHOICE FOR HIM! By hiding their son from him, she is doing exactly the thing she said she wouldn't do the first time around, but now, instead of letting him go back to "the only life he'd ever known", she is HIDING a whole other potential life from him. How can he actually choose if he wasn't ever given the choice in the first place?
So even if they didn't get back together, even if she found out after he left and decided not to contact him, when he came back into her life, she decided it was best to choose for him. Even after he told her he would have left.
I think at the end of the day the reason this theory bothers me is it makes me like Satine less, and I understand that a lot of this is me projecting my own personal biases and trauma onto a kid's show, but if she loved him as much as we all believe she did, how could she keep this from him?
okay, fellow obitine shippers. i'm curious.
(also btw please rb. i would like a large sample size)

Love ‘em and Leave ‘em
Anakin: Falls in love with Padme when he’s assigned to protect her. Fandom: “He’s so selfish! Their relationship is so inappropriate and it stops him doing his job!”
Obi Wan: Hooked up with Satine as a teenager when on assignment on Mandalore and probably got her pregnant Fandom: “Obitine are the best couple in Star Wars and its so wonderful he has a son!”
This is a quote from one of @tragicfantasy-girl’s posts. It made me laugh, but I also wanted to point at the serious side of this too. There is a very important contrast here and I've been meaning to talk about this for awhile.
The Jedi Order forbids marriages but allows hook-ups. This is not a good thing. I I hope I don’t need to explain why “love ‘em and leave ‘em” should not be considered the gold standard for relationships. (Then again, the Jedi don't approve of committed relationships so that's fine to them, but it's certainly not healthy.)
The above understanding also means that, while a Jedi cannot make a commitment to anyone, they can theoretically use them. In the worst cases, it can encourage objectification and/or abandonment in the interest of that they call “non-attachment.” And by abandonment, I don't just mean their partner.
I think we see this very clearly in the contrast between Anakin and Padme and Obi-Wan and Satine. Anakin is undeniably attracted to Padme, and if physical attraction were all that mattered to either of them, that’s fine.
Anakin, however, for all his faults, is not interested in that. He respects Padme. We see this all throughout AotC. He honors her boundaries. He demonstrates admiration for her and the work she’s done. He supports her. He wants so much more than just to satisfy his lust.
Later, in RotS, when Padme tells Anakin she is pregnant, he supports her immediately. Scandal or no scandal, he won’t abandon her. He is going to be there for her and the baby no matter what. He seriously steps up where many men fail to. It’s quite admirable, whatever the Jedi say. There's many a woman in a crisis pregnancy who has not had nearly so much support.
In comparison, we have Obi-Wan who honors the Jedi Code. He hooks up with Satine on a mission. I grant he seems to care about her, but the Jedi way means he will leave her heart-broken. Every relationship Obi-Wan enters into, he enters into knowing it will end. He’ll just abandon them. Where emotions are involved, and they tend to get involved, that’s no kindness.
And the implication is that Korkie is his son. Let’s assume he is. Does Satine ever try to contact Obi-Wan about this? Maybe she does. Even if she did, I doubt the message would ever reach him. People cannot simply contact the Jedi Order. Is she going to petition the Senate about her crisis pregnancy? Yeah, right. So, now she’s alone and pregnant.
Then, even if he did know, what’s Obi-Wan going to do? If Korkie’s Force-Sensitive, he’ll just go to the Temple. And if he’s not, is a Jedi going to called up for child-support? Somehow I doubt it. How do you even begin to get a Jedi on the hook for that? See above about petitioning the Senate. How much do Jedi even make anyway? Probably just a teeny monthly stipend, if that. The Order provides for them after all. Is the Order going to provide for all the potential illegitimate children out there? Somehow, I doubt it, unless they have the Force and induct them into the Order.
And in the unlikely event that Obi-Wan both knows about his son and has to pay child support, Obi-Wan’s not going to visit that child. He won’t do more than maybe send one letter, if that, because attachment, especially to one’s biological family, is forbidden. Anakin can’t even visit or contact his mother in slavery. There’s no way Obi-Wan’s visiting his kid he’s never met who’s being raised in a decent environment. In fact, he doesn’t. And that’s the Jedi way.
And if that’s the Jedi way, it is wrong. That is deeply, deeply messed up.
And you know what else? The Force does seem to have a hereditary element to it. It would not surprise me if the Order promotes casual sex knowing that there will be unintended pregnancies, because that just means more Force-Sensitive kids for them. It's not like having the Force is not significantly rare after all. They could use the numbers.
tl;dr It seems sad (and wrong) to me that a loving and committed relationship where people raise their kids together is seen as dangerous-you-are-headed-to-the-Dark-Side. But loving and leaving someone, abandoning your kids, and forsaking commitment/responsibility, especially if they don't have the Force is noble-good-light-side. There is something very wrong with that picture. Even more so when the former is forbidden, and the latter is encouraged.

MY FAV STAR WARS COUPLE DYNAMICS:
(for the sake of this post let's all just pretend no one dies, ok?)
Anakin - Padme: their relationship started with pure drama and really bad, corny pick up lines and it just goes on that way. Even when they are happily exiled on Naboo with their children and everyone knows about them, whenever they talk about their love or tell the story to Luke and Leia it's always with the tones of a 'larger than life situation'. Obviously Anakin is the drama queen who really pushes it (and is still salty he had to give up his title as Jedi Master) but Padme fell for him when he did the whole whiny speech about sand and married him, she secretly supports this s***t! 😝
Han - Leia: bickering is their love language. Screaming to impose supremacy is their flirting. The thing is, they never bicker for serious stuff, because they actually agree on what matters and get along as a couple, it's the principle of things! Sometimes a friend of Ben overhears them and goes 😱 "I'm really sorry for intruding on this, pal. Will your parents be alright?" And Ben with the calmest expression will answer "They literally do this all the time". It's the silence that's worriesome. When Leia is just too tired to keep fighting after hours of doing so with politicians, when Han doesn't bother to stay to face the argument and just hops on the Falcon again, THAT'S when they realise they are falling out. So they push duty and lust for adventure aside to go back spending quality time together and patching things up. Sure enough, the bickering starts again and Ben is like "😌 aaah everything is fine again".
Din - Luke: they are the picture perfect couple. They literally never argue, at best they poke eachother when one of the two does something the other doesn't entirely agree on. They have each other's back in any instance, support every choice and are there for backup when others want a fight or have something to say either on Din's leadership or Luke's approach to the Jedi code and teachings. It took them forever to actually get together because they acted like shy teenagers on their first crush and Leia, Han and Cara had to practically push them into each other's arms, but once they got there they were solid a couple as a rock. Others look at them and think they are either disgustingly mushy or still in a 'honeymoon face', because NO ONE has such a stress-free marriage. Din and Luke truly don't get what the fuss and all the drama's about. So even though they end up practically parenting the space version of the kids from 'Cheaper by the dozen' they act like parental figures to their friends as well. Life as Manda'lor and the Reviver of the Jedi order can be hell, but together they are just balanced like that and can face everything! They even create a new co-op fighting style for Jedi/Mandalorians that becomes the terror and amazement of the Galaxy for centuries to come!😌😏💪
Kannan - Hera: very similar to Dinluke except they do at times have some small moments of tension because Hera is a fighter to the core and Kannan can't help but wonder if the battle will ever truly end. But his queen's passion and resolve is so bright and steeled that he can't help but fall in love a little more every time and follow, knowing it's the right thing to do. They have an example to set for their son, after all. Kannan will absolutely love Jacen and will introduce Ezra to his son (once Sabine and Ashoka bring him back) as his older brother. Much like when he trained Ezra or faced Sabine, Kannan will sometimes doubt himself and wonder if he's acting like a good parent to Jacen. Hera will smile and reassure him, describing to him the bright and happy smile on their son's face or how Jecen's nose scrunches and his long, greenish ears wiggle in delight whenever Kannan plays with him or cuddles him. As Hera says so, Kannan holds her and feels like he can actually see it too.
Sabine - Ezra: After Ezra is brought back to his family from wherever or whatever happened to him after facing Thrawn, both of them will just indulge in sudden hugs or touches to make sure the other is actually there. Of course, they first think of their bond as a solid friendship and camaraderie, because that's what it was when they left off. The extra touching is just the response to being apart for so long and being worried for each other. But then Sabine notices that Ezra actually looks really good with long hair and the scruffy beard he grew out. She catches herself thinking of how warm and safe if feels in his arms and mentally kicks herself because she's a Mandalorian, all she should need is a loaded blaster to feel safe. Ezra, on the other hand, starts playing with Sabine's hair when complimenting her new dye and suddenly finds himself cupping her face like it's the most natural thing in the world. Long story short, they fall for eachother hard and become the prototype of the couple "my boyfriend/girlfriend is my best friend". When they are comfortable with their new status, Ezra goes back flirting dorkishly with her like he did all those years back when they first met and Sabine will tease him by shooting his advances down.
Ashoka - Bo Katan: joke's on Bo-katan for cringing back in the day at her sister's relationship with a Jedi. She thought destiny or the force or whatever was really messing with her when she realized that her rival and pupil, Din Djarin, the new leader of Mandalorians was also falling helplessly in love with a Jedi (Obi-Wan's student nonetheless). When she hears Sabine Wren and her Jedi boy also got together she stops questioning it. The thing is that she herself has been inexplicably, undeniably charmed and hooked to a Jedi for years now. The very same Jedi she had teased didn't have enough booty, what felt like a lifetime prior. But she's Bo-Katan, she can be in angry denial about anything. Ashoka, on the other hand, has seen and has been conditioned too much on what attachment does to a Jedi, even if she doesn't consider herself one anymore. So, even if the chemistry between them and the long lingering stares are real, their love is always kept a quiet, unspoken thing. Whenever they call eachother "my old friend" they know they actually mean more, but leave it at that. Everyone around them can't help wondering 'are they a thing or...?!' but they never feed the theories and gossip. They know what they are and mean for each other when they are alone in the same room, talking about the past or what must be done in the future and Ashoka's mere presence is enough to cool down the ever-present burning rage inside of Bo. Meanwhile, the other can't help but admire how single minded and devoted to her people and culture the Mandalorian princess is, how she never gave up on them, despite everything. They smile softly at each other, then one of them breaks the spell by leaving. They go back to their own business and life untill destiny or the force or whatever brings them back into eachother's orbit.
Revan - Carth: normally they act very much like Leia and Han with the bickering and teasing bit but then Revan has one of her memories returning or is haunted by how she basically condemned her lifelong best friend Malak to a terrible death and Carth instantly does a 180° shift becoming the most caring, comforting and tender partner. She'll hide into his chest until the crisis in over. Sometimes it can go on for days and Revan is oh, so grateful of how patient and good Carth is to her. Then, at times, Carth is the one burying his head in her chest and she's the one doing the tender, hair strokes. Carth needs a lot of reassuring and might get upset and fret over even what appears to be a trivial thing. He's trying to heal and get better but the long, long years of solitude, hurt and paranoia are hard to iron down. Expecially when Carth seems to have an instinct that puts a Jedi to shame, foreseeing a crisis neither she nor Bastila had picked up. But he is making an effort to improve and she's proud of him, even as he tries very clumsily to patch things up with his son Dustil. She doesn't really step in that matter more than she has to, since Dustil is clearly not happy nor comfortable with the idea of them being together yet. Carth will sometimes open his heart to her and say something deeply meaningful on how he wants her to stay ( when she looks particularly haunted and about to leave without a work of warning) and be happy but does so with such awkward word choices that Revan just cannot refrain from laughing at his face and making puns. It's at this point that the back and forth teasing resumes. There is no denying they are still deeply wounded individuals and they are at their best when their friends are there to lighten the mood and show love to the both of them. Because they could easily go down the path of drama like Anakin and Padme but they choose the Ebon Hawk crew shenanigans instead.
Obi Wan - Satine: their love is stored in the memory of that glorious time they spent together in their youth. A moment in which no responsibility or sense of honor could keep them from giving in to that feeling of want and need for each other. It's a love that never truly went away, never left space for anyone else, but it never fully grew and bloomed either. So years down the line, that's what it is for Obi-Wan, a pleasant memory. He would never change how things went afterwards, but he wouldn't give up those memories and feelings for anything in the world. Satine feels the same, mostly. There are nights that she falls asleep wondering what could have been if only she had talked up at the decisive moment and dreams of a life spent together with Obi-Wan. But when she wakes up, she sobers up and goes back to her things. It's when she looks at her Korkie smile and notices how resembling to his secret father he is that she is truly at peace. She managed to keep a peace of Obi-Wan in her life.
Cal - Merrin: I have no idea for this one, but just stop and consider the possible 'nightsisters babies' though! Wouldn't they be the cutest things ever?! 😀
Sorry Cara Dune, you just haven't met the woman of your life yet. 😔
Also, I kinda like Zeb and Callus too but I don't really ship them enough to add them here, you know? Anyway I'm sure they make a lovely couple.

This will be an unpopular opinion but I really hope they don't try to bring Satine or Korkie into the Obi-Wan series. We just don't have time for it and realistically it would just add a level of soap opera angst to a story that has more than enough conflict and drama in it already.
Tumblr media
This story needs to be about bridging the characters of Ewan McGregor's Obi-Wan to Alec Guinness' Ben Kenobi. We need to see him deal with the loss of EVERYTHING he's dedicated his entire life towards, not to mention the guilt of Vader surviving and the fact that he can't help the Rebels (he'd obviously be in a serious identity crisis).
There is so much meat on that bone that to try and add the "I'm your long lost son" to the mix would just be so very, very unnecessary.
Tumblr media
Also, keep in mind this only going to be 6 episodes and watched by a large general audience who haven't watched TCW, so if Satine or Korkie were to be introduced they'd have to spend at least one or two episodes on their background relationship and that would mean everything else would be rushed to fit it all into the limited series.
Look, I'd love to see more Obi-Wan and Satine (maybe in an animated series of Obi-Wan's apprenticeship or a comic book), but the only reason we even had the Obi-Wan and Satine relationship in the TCW was to show a similar but opposite relationship to Anakin and Padme but to show a Jedi actually making the right choice by not letting their attachments rule him, to try and drag their love story out now and to add her or a superfluous child to the Obi-Wan show would actually make their arc in TCW less impactful/important.
The Kenobi show needs to only be about Obi-Wan and Anakin/Vader and how that correlates to Obi-Wan rediscovering himself as a Jedi and his connection to the Force.
Tumblr media
I'm sure that alone will be angsty enough for all us.

2021 fic review
thanks for the tag @hellowkatey
total number of completed works: 29
total word count: 193,840
looking back did you write more, less, or the expected amount of fic this year?: wayyyyyyyy more than I thought - I joined AO3 a little less than 9 months ago and my original plan was just to dump a couple of stories that I had rattling around in my brain & forget about them - it was not my intention to become completely obsessed but, uh, oops I guess
your own favorite story of this year?: oof - this is a hard one - my fics are my babies and it’s difficult to choose a favorite - I think I’m going to say Aurebesh Soup - it’s a tiny little story that came to me one day while I was on vacation over the summer and I just sat down and wrote it all in one sitting. It features my absolute favorite thing to write about which is Anakin’s early days at the Temple and Obi-Wan struggling with his grief over Qui-Gon while trying to deal with his new responsibilities caring for a padawan.
did you take any writing risks this year?: Yes! joining AO3 to begin with lol! But also I did Comfortember and was proud of myself for doing every single prompt. Also I just did a fic exchange for the Kenobi Kafe and wrote 2 fics that were not in my normal genre: Revelation (which is about Obi-Wan discovering Korkie is his son) and Every Time a Bell Rings (which is a Hallmark-style Obikin meet cute)
do you have any fanfic goals for the new year?: I have a lot of wips that need attention - two are multi-chapter fics (one that I actually have a chapter of!) - and I have a second chapter of The Clone Wars: the Sitcom that I really want to write.
most popular story of the year?: Comfortember 2021
story most under-appreciated?: Just Breathe - it’s a sad Obi-Wan post-Mustafar thing I wrote one night when I was having an existential crisis and I decided to hurt Obi-Wan to make myself cry. It has barely any hits but I like it and when I see it, I laugh at how overdramatic I was being that night and it reminds me not to take everything so seriously
most fun story to write?: I really loved writing Day of Reflection - it’s a fun Anakin & Ahsoka bonding story but also has a nice Obi-Wan & Anakin through line. It’s a bit of a nod to Breakfast Club and I got some nice fanart to accompany it.
most unintentionally telling story?: oh definitely the first one I posted: Taking Flight - it’s such a thinly veiled comforting my inner child story (nightmare Anakin = my crazy ass inner child if you haven’t figured it out!)
biggest disappointment?: Hmm I wrote an Obitine (Before Sunrise) that didn’t get a ton of hits so that was a little disappointing but I’m still proud of myself for trying something new
biggest surprise?: the more I write, the more I get ideas for new stories! I really thought that I was going to write a couple of things and be done with my crazy Star Wars obsession - hahahaha - little did I know it was only the beginning of my addiction
my favorite part of fandom this year?: making friends! I had no idea that I would actually ever interact with other fic writers but, not only do I have tons of pocket friends now, I have even met some IRL! The friends I’ve made in fandom are some of the most interesting and intelligent people in my life and I consider myself so lucky to know them!

creator tag game
Thank you, @kckenobi for the tag! And for the bonus fic rec list you included in yours bc, honestly, I just spent like an hour rereading all your fic and being amazed and touched all over again. ANYWAY.
Rules: It’s time to love yourselves! Choose your 5 (ish) favorite works you created in the past year (fics, art, edits, etc.) and link them below to reflect on the amazing things you brought into the world in 2020. Tag as many writers/artists/etc. as you want (fan or original) so we can spread the love and link each other to awesome works!
So, this is going to be difficult because I...did not write a tonne this year? I choose EVERYTHING! But here goes.
--
My (Current) Favourite: Just So, and No Clearer (Obitine, T)
I hated this fic while writing it. Every chapter felt like a chore. Every scene felt pointless. I didn’t know what story I was telling except that it was meant to be as revealing - or more so - of Obi-Wan as it was of Satine. And then, I hit the final chapter, and I was like “Oh!”
This is probably the most complicated thing I’ve written, in that the poetry had to communicate something beyond the text, and that the story Obi-Wan thinks he is telling is unadulterated in that form, but the story Satine is living is something real, and less fanciful beyond it. I feel like I surprised myself with this one.
Biggest Lesson: One Human Thought (Qui-Dad & Obi-Son, G)
I’ve been writing this fic for 8 mos now (I think), and it shows. When I started writing SW fic this year, I thought I was pretty confident in my style - I wasn’t in love with my style, but I thought I knew it - and I thought I’d been fairly consistent in terms of quality after cutting my teeth on a bunch of fic in other fandoms. But this fic...I didn’t outline it. I didn’t have any grand themes. I didn’t directly adapt any major source (it’s inspired by Pygmalion, but the structure is distinct). I did not expect anyone to like it, or want it, or feel it.
So, of course, it’s my most popular fic.
And I recently went back and reread the first couple chapters and, yeah, I think I am a different writer now. This fic taught me the importance of just Putting Something On The Page, how to write through the dry spells, trust that I could fall back on technique and practice when inspiration left me, ignore the need to Be Perfect, know that sometimes a sentence can just be competent, and that is enough. Not every word needs to be profound. This fic showed me that practice will outlast inspiration every single time. Which is neat, because that’s partly what it’s about.
Gateway Fic: The Eternal Spring (Padme Lives, Obi-Wan Has a Crisis, G)
This fic is my baby. It set the stage for everything I have written in this fandom. It’s the testing ground for the basics of almost every mainstay in my hc, from Obi-Wan’s voice, to his relationships and how he views them; from shared fanon content, and the expansive nature of fandom, to my own con-langs and worldbuilding; from the lore I wanted to keep, and how I felt about certain fan theories - I found Korkie here, guys! I needed him for plot, but then he showed up and just WAS Obi-Wan’s and I couldn’t let him walk away.
It’s written in the style most comfortable to me, and was the very edge of the nest from which I leapt.
Thesis Fic: Or Else I Shall Be Lost (Korkie is a Kenobi, Boil is exhausted, G)
This is a shout out to you, @mg024, because I mentioned that I have Many Thoughts about the narrative benefits of canonizing Korkie as Obi-Wan’s son. I will do that one day, I will, but in short - this fic.
This is my little field test of how I think Korkie best functions in a canonically plausible scenario. KEEPING THIS BRIEF, my feeling is basically, Obi-Wan would benefit as a character by having a son, and the narrative would benefit by his having a son. In this case, I used Korkie as a way to examine that transition between Anakin and Vader, exploring Vader’s jealousy, his relationship with Obi-Wan, his desire to possess something that cannot be owned, and contrasted it with Korkie’s inheritance being something he is worthy of because of his choices, not his blood. Korkie chooses to continue his father’s legacy, while Vader feels entitled to it. I think inherited legacy vs. chosen destiny is a pretty major theme in almost all SW stories, and for me, this is a facet of it that would benefit from exploration and has a vehicle that’s lying around IGNORED! How dare.
Guilty Pleasure: Rolling Hitch (Qui-Dad & Obi-Son, G)
Look, the premise of this fic is weak. The execution is inconsistent. But I want whump. I NEED WHUMP. And I am weak for platonic bathing, and sleepy times. The tenderness of care required to clean someone, the trust required to let someone else do that, the way peoples’ hearts are revealed in the way they sacrifice their comfort to assure someone else’s without thanks or notice…….this fic is for me, friends. If you like it too, then that’s a really lovely, welcome bonus!
No pressure tags for some of my favourite people! @tree-scapes @outpastthemoat @acatbyanothername93 @duchess-of-mandalore @mahizli @pebblysand @kyber-erso @mg024 and one for @pomiar (who won’t do it, but should).

@nerdgatehobbit Hey! Thanks for the question! Ik you asked this to my main but imma respond on my SW blog if that’s okay?
So whew that’s a big question. Do I honestly think that Dave kept Obi Wan and Padmé and then Anakin and Satine from interacting in the TCW show because they didn’t want shipping wars?
(Remember, these are all just my personal opinions. I do me and you do you!)
Short version? Yes and no. Long version? Under the cut because I can never shut up.
Firstly, I don’t wanna say this was all Dave’s decision. He was one of the top guys in charge of TCW, yes, but he was far from the only one, there was an entire creative team working on the project, and during the time of TCW’s original six seasons Lucasfilms was not owned by Disney yet and George Lucas himself had a very large amount of creative control over the entire show. So I don’t really think it’s fair at all to point fingers at any choices the show made and go “yep that’s completely 100% Dave’s fault alone”.
I also don’t quite think they were concerned about shipping wars in the way ATLA had them. Avatar’s shipping wars were so absolutely toxically rancid that they legit drove me right out of that fandom. I’m still hesitant to come back during the current renaissance because of them. Star Wars, prior to the Sequel Trilogy, never had shipping wars close to that calibre of pure nastiness. The fandom was a godawful cesspool that fought to the death on most aspects of the franchise, this has always been true, but shipping, if I’ve read right, was somehow never really one of those hot button issues within fandom. I don’t think Lucasfilms kept the Clone Wars four apart because they were afraid of fans fighting over ships.
That being said, Lucasfilms HAS always been Very Strict on how they want their characters to be seen, romantic-wise, way back to when they would terrorize Original Trilogy slash shippers back in the 80’s and 90’s with threats of legal action. It’s part of why they were Very Firm in their insistence that they had absolutely nothing to do with all the Luke/Mara Jade EU stuff. You either abided by LF’s canonical romances or not at all in their world. So yes, in the case of Obi Wan and Padmé, I absolutely think the writing team’s decision to keep the pair of them apart was almost entirely so fans didn’t ship them together.
Why do I think this? Because there is no other rational reason why Obi Wan and Padmé haven’t had a single second of screentime in TCW that hasn’t had either Anakin or Satine also in the room as a buffer. Not when Revenge of the Sith EXPLICITLY portrays their relationship as relatively close friends who care about each other. So nope, I genuinely think the show just doesn’t want the fans to consider any other relationship for Padmé besides Anakin.
But why would they do this just to her and Obes? Obi Wan and Padmé both have other friends of different genders, why don’t they worry about us shipping THEM? Well for Obi Wan’s case, it can be excused that he flirts with everyone, so we’re conditioned to think that it’s never anything serious, and none of the other characters are married to the main character of the series. This is entirely because of Padmé’s position. Yes, she has other male friends, but either they’re nonhuman and not conventionally attractive so the series doesn’t see them as a threat, they’re Clovis, who they actively show Anakin going into a jealous fit over, or they’re Bail, who can be excused by the fact that he’s already married and also because he’s never actively shown as in competition with Anakin for anything, so he’s not threatening either.
Obi Wan, on the other hand, is a major threat to Anidala in the show’s eyes. They already constantly make a point to compare him and Anakin in almost every opportunity. Which is strange, the show’s decision to force them into the role of narrative foils to each other when in the movies that isn’t the case at all— Obi Wan is much more of a foil to Sidious and Anakin’s foil is Luke —but yeah, the show very often has Obes and Ani going through similar situations with competing viewpoints— ESPECIALLY their canon romances, and I won’t rant about how the show’s attempted Anidala and Obitine parallels fall apart under scrutiny right now but if yinz want the rant sometime let me know.
Obi Wan also has the canonical ability to charm the pants off of literally everyone he meets. Nearly everyone in canon is in love with him, 80% of the fandom at least is in love with him, and I KNOW most of the crew was in love with him too. Anakin, on the other hand, has a very abrasive personality and is much easier to dislike. The show was ALREADY terrified of the fans not liking or wanting to root for Anakin to the point that they reworked his entire personality to make him more palatable to his critics from the movies. Plus, Obidala fans already existed! Since the first and second PT movies, a big group of people already shipped these two because they already thought Obi Wan was a preferable match to Padmé than Anakin. The studio did not want to encourage this.
So yes, I think it was a combination of the show’s tendency to already try and get the fans to compare Obi Wan to Anakin for everything else plus their insecurity in Anakin’s image and likeability as it was, that they did Not want the handsome charming not-future-evil guy around the leading lady and threatening her canon romance by existing as a possibly better option. So Obi Wan and Padmé got no stories together, just kinda throwing the opening ROTS left them in the garbage ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ The worst part is, there is so many potential places in TCW where Obi Wan and Padmé could talk to each other, like during her investigation into her friend’s murder, during the Clovis arc, bits during the Malevolence arc, the earlier Naboo crisis arcs, even the one time where she’s just hosting a damn party and wants to invite her friends gahhhhhhhh
Anakin and Satine, I also think yes, but this is also a case of half and half because Satine isn’t nearly as major a character as the other three are, and out of the nine episodes she appears in, she only has more than a singular line in seven of them, and out of those seven, only two of them aren’t revolves entirely around building her relationship with Obi Wan. So really, there is a defence for the writers here in noting that there’s not as much room to explore Satine’s character as it is, let alone trying to shoehorn in a scene with Anakin.
Except no, I’m not gonna give them that defence because in the two episodes where she only has a speaking line or less— Obi Wan’s funeral and the Ahsoka and Lux meet Death Watch ep —I can already easily think of ways she and Anakin could have really meaningful interactions in them both. Y’all have already heard my bit on how they could have a real important conversation at the funeral, but y’all HAVEN’T seen my idea for a rewrite of the Carlac ep where it’s a two-parter, Anakin comes with Ahsoka and Padmé to the negotiations on Mandalore, and it ends up with a subplot of Anidala chasing after Ahsoka and Lux with Satine as the put-upon third wheel and we get foreshadowing to Satine being Bo Katan’s sister, so when the reveal happens the next season it actually means something.
So yeah, it was partially because of timing constraints, but it was also DEFINITELY in part because they didn’t want Satine being shipped with Anakin— which ppffffft, if they were brave enough to actually try writing these two in a conversation in-character, they’d understand how much of a not-worry this would be xD —because the show is set on the fact that despite maybe there being other flings at some point, Obi Wan and Satine are each other’s one true tragic love (Or, at least Obi Wan is Satine’s. He’s always had more freedom and decision than she has in this narrative, and that’s always kinda bugged me). So, that means Satine can’t interact with any men unless they’re gonna betray her trust and try to kill her by the end of the episode, because the show needs Obi Wan to have a loyal, steady, good girlfriend because he is a good man.
(And yes, before anyone says it, I have heard the more unpleasant rumors behind why exactly Obi Wan was given a girlfriend in the show, but as I’ve yet to see any official proof of them besides fandom salt, I’m not gonna spread them because those are hefty accusations to throw around).
So yeah, Satine can’t talk to Anakin partially because time constraints, but also because she isn’t allowed to talk to any other nice men besides Obi Wan and her son (no I don’t particularly like the Korkie Kenobi thing, but it is blatantly obvious that that is what the show was implying and I’m not gonna pretend otherwise), and Obi Wan and Padmé can’t talk to each other entirely because the show saw Obidala as a threat to Anidala.
Again, just my opinions and things I noticed, y’all are more than free to disagree and discuss with me.

Every single time I do this, I keep thinking, “I’ll just add one or two more to the list, because they’re so good and that’ll be it, surely fandom won’t post anything else that I need to immediately read and yell about my feelings over!” And then every single time I’m wrong about that and STAR WARS fandom puts out more fic or, I don’t know, creates and Obi-Ken genfic exchange and I suddenly have a whole new pile of fic to read and crying about it. It’s the best worst problem to have because there are some absolutely stellarfics here and so many talented people and I need to yell a lot and shove them allat everyone who will listen! STAR WARS FIC RECS: TIME TRAVEL RECS: ✦ The Unreliability of Chronology by Felilla, obi-wan & anakin & ahsoka & rex & cast, time travel, 7.5k wip    No. His Padawan died on Mortis six months ago and he was left without even a body to mourn. The Story of Menstruation is a 1946 10-minute American animated film produced by Walt Disney Productions. It was commissioned by the International Cello-Cotton Company (now Kimberly-Clark) and was shown in a non-theatrical release to approximately 105 million American students in health education classes. It was part of a 1945 to 1951 series of films that Disney produced for American schools. Gynecologist Mason Hohn was hired as a consultant to ensure that the film was scientifically accurate and to increase the likelihood that school doctors and nurses would allow the film to be shown. Hohn’s involvement led to a stronger emphasis on biology than other marketing by ICCC. The Story of Menstruation increased its reputation when it received the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval. It was one of the first commercially sponsored films to be distributed to high schools. It was distributed with a booklet for teachers and students called Very Personally Yours that featured advertising of the Kotex brand of products, and discouraged the use of tampons. At the time, the market was dominated by the Tampax brand of rivals Procter & Gamble. The film uses animated diagrams to detail the menstrual cycle. The film’s narrator, who is not identified in the credits, informs the viewer that “there is nothing strange or mysterious about menstruation,” and it shows women engaged in such activities as bathing, riding a horse, and dancing during their menstrual cycles. The film’s narration by actress Gloria Blondell also provides advice to avoid constipation and depression, and to always keep up a fine outward appearance. The Story of Menstruation is believed to be the first film to use the word “vagina” in its screenplay. Neither sexuality nor reproduction is mentioned in the film, and an emphasis on sanitation makes it, as Disney historian Jim Korkis has suggested, “a hygienic crisis rather than a maturational event.” The menstrual flow was depicted as snow white instead of blood red. The film’s copyright was renewed by Walt Disney Productions on December 3, 1973. #destroytheday (throwback post from Aug. 15th, 2015) https://www.instagram.com/p/CAiFkfqhdQJ/?igshid=ihtndqhzm2qr

3 Mandos and a Baby AU: The Aq Vetina Crisis
So, as previously discussed, in this AU Aq Vetina is a small colony world just off the Hydian Way under the authority of a Core world. Its distance from said Core world in addition to its lack of valuable resources means it tends to not be a priority.
When the CIS attacks the planet it’s the Mandalorians who save the day. It’s the Mandalorians who give the survivors much needed aid. And ultimately, it’s the Mandalorians who stay and help them rebuild. After all, this Korkie may be different than canon Korkie by virtue of how he was raised, but he is still fundamentally Satine’s boy. He can’t look at people in need and just turn his back on them, not when he’s in a position to help.
The highest ranking survivor of the old colony administration, Rhuya Kadjn, looks around at her people, looks at the Mando’ade helping to rebuild and taking in the many, many, orphans, and she makes a decision. About a month after the attack, a meeting is called of all the surviving adults of their little community. A vote is proposed, and a motion passes.
Approximately three days later Senator Culman Vald of the Jinata sector starts off the Senate session by reading out the ludicrous and offensive message it received from their colony world of Aq Vetina, declaring the planet’s independence from their overlords. The Senator says that the Jinata sector does not recognize the independence of their colony, and would like Republic help to retain control. After all, the system of Aq Vetina is right next to the Hydian Way, and a Republic presence there will further secure the hyperlane.
Senator Vel Batin of Mandalore immediately takes the stage, much to the annoyance of Mas Amedda. She doesn’t even bother trying to hide her smug grin as she reads out the official petition from Aq Vetina to join the Mandalore sector. A petition the Mand’alor is very willing to accept.
As you can expect, things spiral out of control from there and the Senate session ends with nothing much having gotten done and tempers flaring. More than usual for the Senate anyway.
Jinata is rich, powerful, and it’s full of Core-typical entitlement. Mandalore is Mandalore. Neither party is willing to back down, and it gets worse when the Vanquo system submits a similar declaration and petition, thus bringing the mining-focused Meerian sector to the table.
It’s now a full blown crisis, especially considering the locations of these two contested systems. If Mandalore was to acquire them they’d have a direct route to the main Hydian Way, instead of having to take the Mandalore Branch through Bandomeer. The Republic argues that granting the Mandalorians such a boon is an unacceptable security risk for it. Mandalore argues that the Republic’s inability to defend these planets is an unacceptable security risk to them.
There are three major reasons the Mandalorian government is pushing for this so hard.
For Satine, it’s a matter of commerce. The tariffs and tolls Mandalorian trade vessels have to pay just to get on the main hyperlane is ridiculous. Those fees were strangling their economy and seventeen years of negotiations had barely managed to knock a few credits off. She hopes it won’t come to war, and has full faith that Korkie chose the best moment to press this. It’s not likely that the Republic would risk a second war and lose a valuable ally in the process.
For Korkie, it’s the right thing to do. When he considered this course of action the world had brightened for a second, the Darksaber seemed to sing from its place on his hip, and for a moment when Adonai put his hand on his shoulder, Korkie could have swore he felt it. He thinks it’s the right decision when he attends the wedding of a Protector and one of the Aq Vetina survivors. He knows it’s the right decision every time he sees his little cousin, stuffed Mythosaur in one hand and the other in Aunt Bo’s or Uncle Fenn’s (not relevant at all but Alrich was the one to give baby Din the mythosaur toy).
For Bo-Katan and the rest of the time travelers, it’s about denying Palpatine a foothold. Thanks to the work they did – the spy games and the training and the final, bloody confrontation – it’s unlikely that there will ever need to be a Republic invasion of Mandalore, meaning their local Sith lord needs to find a new excuse to get troops near the planet. A garrison on Aq Vetina would be within the perfect distance to strike once the order came down, and they’re not about to let that happen. Mandalore is their home, and they’re not about to let it fall again.
Threats to blockade the Hydian Way start coming in from both sides, and the Republic sets up negotiations between them, with a neutral Republic team to handle mediations.
I think I’m gonna put that in a different post cause this one is getting too long for comfort + I’m sick and need a nap.

Vows
So, I’ve been seeing an AU called Scandalore started by @forcearama play out on my dashboard all day long and I must say, I LOVE EVERY SINGLE MINUTE OF IT. I love Obitine and so I love this AU to bits. Throughout this whole thing, I’ve been wondering things such as, how much does Korkie knows? Not to mention the implications of Anakin meeting Satine at an earlier age. Did he constantly tease Obiwan about her? Or what about the Mandalore arc in this AU? Perhaps not only was Satine frustrated with the clone wars but the fact her HUSBAND was participating in it, making the fight between the two much more of a big deal. But did I write about any of the above? NOPE. Here, have 1.4k of how these two ended up secretly wed in the first place.
When Satine starts throwing up in the morning, she dismisses it as her illness of the month. Satine has never been the peak of Mandalorian health. Her immune system has always taken harder hits than most, and it is one of the many reasons her opponents have used against her ascend to leader of the houses.
But it goes longer than it should, and when she is finally persuaded to see a medical droid, it appears to be something far more drastic.
“You are pregnant.” The droid announced stoically.
“Pregnant?” Satine’s heart starts beating wildly.
The medical droid starts rattling on about the medical definition of being pregnant but the duchess tunes him out. She can’t be pregnant. Not right now. She has just reached a tentative peace among all of Mandalore–she knows there is still pockets of groups who are waiting for any first sign of weakness. A child with a Jedi father would cause a massive scandal. Many willingly overlooked her Jedi protectors, but none would be willing to overlook the fact she conceived a child with one of them. Mandalore’s hatred for Jedi still ran strong in some houses.
She knows what she must do. She must sacrifice the child for the sake of peace. She knows this, and yet her mind can’t help traveling back to Obiwan. She remembers the time he played with some children in a village they spent a few days in. How his eyes gleamed as he patiently answered each one of their numerous questions. He would be a great father, she knows it.
She thinks long and hard about the issue, before coming to a conclusion.
Drawing a deep breath, she wipes the medical droid’s memory before dismissing it from the room. She then reaches for her comm and clicks on the senior padawan’s contact.
“Sa-satine?” He asks, a bit surprised. He hadn’t expected her to contact him after the dust had settled and she retained her status as rightful Duchess of Mandalore.
She seemed adamant in the two ceasing contact with one another. It was perhaps for the best, as painful as it was for him. She was a duchess and he a Jedi. Both had duties to uphold, and had no time for attachments to distract them from their goals.
“Satine, are you alright?” He questions after she doesn’t respond the first time.
On the outside, she looked relatively fine. No one except her closest confidants would notice her that her hairpiece was slightly crooked and the vacant stare in her eyes.
“Obiwan, how I wish you were by my side,” Her voice cracked, but she continued on, “Something unexpected has come up, and I am unsure how to proceed.”
“What is it?” He asked, growing increasingly worried, “Are you being threatened again? I’m sure the Republic wouldn’t mind–”
“It’s not like that,” She interrupts, shaking her head, “It’s a completely different it’s–I’m pregnant, Obiwan.”
Oh. OH.
“with my child?” He asks weakly, collapsing onto his chair in a startled heap.
“Of course, your child, Obiwan Kenobi,” She says in a scandalized tone, but she smiles gently despite it.
His emotions are set ablaze and he does his best to calm himself. He can sense Qui Gon’s confusion across their training bond and attempts to briefly reassure him before turning his attention upon Satine once more.
“What do you plan to do?” He asks softly.
“I can’t have a child,” Satine confesses, “I shouldn’t. It’s something that my opponents would use against me–”
“I understand.” He quickly says, lowering his head, “Jedi are pledged to protect all lives, no matter how small. But I understand if–”
“You don’t understand,” She cuts in, “I shouldn’t have a child and yet–I cannot bring myself to terminate my pregnancy in order to buy peace. I cannot. I will hide my pregnancy from public’s eyes if I must. But Obiwan…”
Her voice halts sharply as she lets her guard down for a moment and gazes at him. She is sharp and strict and fierce but she is so much more than that. She is kind and patient and selfless. Obiwan doesn’t know a lot about mothers, but he senses she would make a fine one.
“I understand you are a Jedi, that your duties lie elsewhere. I respect whatever decision you make,” Her eyes fall away from his face, unwilling to make eye contact, “I–I don’t know quite know how to say it but I have loved you from the moment you came to my aid a year ago on Kalevala.”
“Satine,” He reaches out, wishing desperately to caress her cheek, “You–you know I feel the same. Had you asked me earlier to leave the Jedi Order, I would have right and then there.”
A smile emerges onto her face as something runs down her cheek. A tear, he realizes. “Do you still feel the same?” She asks.
“I do.” He bows her head, “I hope you would still have me, Duchess.” He takes her relieved laughter as a sign of acceptance.
He doesn’t resign from the Jedi Order right then and there, as promised. Tensions in Mandalore are still running high and he reluctantly agrees with Satine to wait a little longer until it cools down. Still the two are secretly wedded. It is a very private wedding, held within the House of Kyrze.
Jedi, of course, don’t have any wedding traditions so they follow the traditions of the Mandalores. She explains that their wedding is not unusual by normal Mandalore standards. Weddings are often simple functions attended by only the Houses of the two parties involved. It is only in ruling houses such as Kyrze that weddings tend to be more extravagant.
“It is…not uncommon for two ruling houses to arrange a marriage to keep the peace between them.” She explains, “My parents were an arranged marriage.”
Qui Gon never questions Obiwan when he returns to the Temple late from a solo mission. He wonders if his master knows, but if he does, he keeps silent on the matter. Qui Gon had given him the usual lecture of attachments when he noticed him growing close with Satine but had otherwise kept his mouth shut.
He slowly works up the courage to tell Qui Gon, but by the time he’s ready, it’s already too late.
He calls Satine, late in the night, after he safely made sure Anakin is tucked into bed. The two are given private quarters in the Theed palace and he is currently hiding in the room’s closet. His eyes are bloodshot and his hair disheveled as he tries to slow his breathing.
The hologram flickers, as Satine comes into view. She’s dressed in one of her court outfits, which meant he probably disrupted a meeting of some sort.
“Hello Satine,” He smiles weakly, “I’m sorry for disturbing you.”
“Obiwan, what’s happened?” She asks, her eyes seized with worry.
At the sound of her voice, he breaks down crying and it takes him a moment to regain his composure enough to tell her. He tells her everything, from the start of the crisis, to hiding out in Tatooine and to facing the sith lord on Naboo.
“I–I made a promise to him before he died,” Obiwan’s voice trembled, “That I would train the boy–Anakin. The Council is inducting him into the Order and is willing to let me train him, Satine.”
Obiwan’s eyes skirts around her gaze as he whispers quietly, “I understand Satine, if you wish to dissolve our union.”
He almost wants her to. She doesn’t deserve to keep their marriage secret for whatever amount of years it takes to train Anakin up. It has only been one year, and yet he can see the strain the secrecy places on their marriage. Rarely can they see one another face to face, let alone comm each other.
Obiwan is stretched thin between his alliances and one will collapse sooner than later.
“Obiwan, look at me,” Satine asks–no–demands and he looks up to her regal features.
Even with the blueish hue of the holo, her beauty shines through.
“On Mandalore, we treat vows with the utmost respect,” She says sternly, “If you made a vow to your master, Obi, then I will not stand in your way. But know you still have a vow to me, and I am waiting for you to fulfill it one day.”
