K. Connie Kang
K. Connie Kang was born in 1942 in what is now North Korea. Kang's family fled North Korea and eventually came to the United States, where Kang would embark on a successful career as a journalist. She was a driving force behind the establishment and growth of the Korean American Journalists Association. During the LA riots in the spring of 1992, the language barrier meant that there were few local reporters who could interview Koreans in the city affected by the violence. To address this problem, later that year, the LA Times hired Kang. Their coverage of Asian issues changed noticeably as a result, and Kang helped give a voice an often overlooked community a voice in the mainstream media. She worked for the Times until 2008, and contributed to multiple other publications.
K. Connie Kang died in 2019 at the age of 76.

People who specify white American under my anti American posts have so obviously never interacted with Americans from a non American perspective.
do you not know how disturbing it is as a Korean to see someone making a video about streetfood style Korean fried chicken and swarms of Black Americans in the comments being like “No, No didn’t you no that WE actually introduced fried chicken to these Koreans while we were over there occupying them, mass murdering millions of them and dropping over half a million tons of bombs on their country don’t get it twisted.”
Like you are WEIRD!!! That is WEIRD.
You are all active participants in empire and the next time you try and tell, me, a North Korean, that your ethnicity somehow mitigates the fact that you live in and benefit from the imperial core I will fucking shoot you I swear to God.

Before the F-15 and the F-4, there was the F-86 Sabre, a true pioneer of jet-powered aerial combat. Did you know that F-86s are credited with over 800 kills? The Sabre remains West's most successful jet fighter, surpassing all others in terms of air combat triumphs.

P.S Kaguya
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It took six years of struggle in an industry that favors thin and Eurocentric for Kaguya to make it to New York Fashion Week. As a second-generation Korean American, she encountered constant resistance to her weight and stigmas about her identity. She quickly discovered, she says, that the same stereotypes associated with Asian women were reinforced for Asian models: to be petite and obedient.
