Why do so many Americans, and non-Americans too, seem to think that slavery was a specifically American thing? Like, I presume that most people know that it wasn’t, but I hear so much discussion of American slavery and its impact, and so little of any other kind. It also makes slavery look like a strictly white-slaver black-slave dynamic, which, again, I presume most people know it isn’t, but nobody talks about it as much as about American-type slavery. The Roman slave market, which existed for centuries and had slaves of all races, the Korean slave market, which was gigantic, the Ottoman slave market, in which North Africans and Middle Easterners enslaved people of different races, including Europeans. My point being that slavery has existed for centuries, and has heavily impacted our whole world, and yet some people seem to believe that slavery existed only in an American-type way. At the moment, there are more slaves in the world than ever before, and yes, most of them are from Third World countries, but nobody talks of real-time slavery either. Not as much as of past American slavery anyway. I genuinely wanna know how that came to be.

Liam Payne’s watch was missing when he fell.Robbery gone wrong? The prostitutes allegedly set him up and he never called them…one of the fans recording him that day is missing.hotel employees were making fun of him in the private chat room.(plus other strange things I found from the locals)
Section 1 my theories/ideas of what I’ve read. Most people aren’t taking this suspicious death seriously because he was an addict. but addicts can be victims of crimes too. (Aka the room could have been trashed on purpose to make it look like a setup). The guy they interviewed who had a room near Liam said he heard a lot of noise. Who knows if Liam was alone. Liam did have lots of injuries. Someone mentioned he had a yellow bruiseBruise on his neck and red mark under his right jaw from courtyard video. Aka the one put on IG filmed a few days prior. Also lots of time me celebrities publicist will have a bunch of videos from the past ready to post when the celeb doesn’t feel like posting.
Unless Liam was alone and only he had access to his account? I assume his team dropped him since the label did? Idk.Locals mention ground zero is the first floor. So technically he fell from the fourth floor. The cameras supposedly didn’t work that day. Even though there’s rumors police have cctv.
Timeline is off. Could someone make a timeline of Liam’s last days? I had heard he was kicked out of a prior hotel. So that’s why he checked into that one. Also supposedly the video where Liam is sitting at that table with his gf was at a friends house was a few days old but barely posted the day of his death. . (Or maybe the previous hotel he got kicked out of.?)No one is talking about Rogelio. Source: Perez Hilton mentioned Rogelio’s full name but idr. Someone said that it was his friend/manager. Idk how true that is.Allegedly one of Liam payne’s fans is missing because she was live recording him the day of. Which is a new development.A comment below mentions he was outside hotel with fans that day and planned on coming back out to visit more fans after he was going to eat something. People mention it was only about an hour before his death those videos are allegedly taken. This post contains Some positive fan interactions, speculation from locals, and other stuff to discuss. We fans want the truth to his death. Therefore we must explore all options. This is a collection of comments I’ve gathered from YT. I will probably have to extend post to comments section since I will go over character limit.
Section 2 all the comments I’ve rounded up so far from the locals.@sunshineonmyshoulder480049 minutes agoLiam unfortunately had a very addictive personality. He was addicted to more than drugs and alcohol. He was addicted to fame and attention.(I believe) when his starwasn’t shining as bright as it once did… he couldn’t handle it. Then his ex girlfriend chastised him publicly (even writing a book casting him in a bad light) and the last straw for him was being dropped by his record label. He went into a deep dark place with feeling of rejection and shame. When his current girlfriend left him alone he slipped further and further into darkness and drugs.
You see, he was having an issue with his visa so he couldn’t leave … I heard he begged her to stay with him but she left. I wish she had stayed because he didn’t need to be alone. Reports say he requested the company of two prostitutes the day of his death. I would venture to say he didn’t necessarily want sex but he just didn’t want to be alone… and maybe he didn’t want to do his drugs alone. Remember, an idle mind

@kayceeyoung84801 day agoOne person said he jumped and people are running with that when there’s so much more evidence pointing towards him falling and not jumping. @dorothysmith38503 days agoI thought he was found with signs pointing to the fact that he did not tense up or react instinctively when he went over the balcony. @koontyb48273 hours agoI’ve considered that 911 phone call to be a bit iffy. The hotel staff member saying about the balcony danger for the guest, to me it sounds like a perpetrator covering up an incident he/she/they have committed. Wasn’t it said, that a neighbouring room heard male shouting coming from Liam’s room. Has law enforcement even considered there could have been a fight in his room with another hotel guest or staff member hence so many injuries 25 injuries right. I know it is said that Liam fell 30/40 ft off a balcony but come on that isn’t such a great height to cause such catastrophic injuries? IMHO there is more to this, than meets the eye! A fall of up to 12m/39-40ft is survivable but could have life threatening injuries unless you land directly on your head. I just don’t get it. RIP Liam we are all behind you to find the truth if this was a crime by a perpetrator. PS. I’m no drug userand naurhaunhut ion’t that nInt of

回@elena 79rus37 minutes agoThere is a lot of weird stuff about the fall. I just saw another video where they were analyzing the position of his body after the fall. Supposedly his body was not lying under the balconies where it would logically be after his fall, but quite far from there.
@Window34571WHERE was his security,in all this?~~~~~~The phone call to the dispatcher seem oft, how the person talk about the balcony. After worrying about what, he might do to himself. Tell me something in this investigation, that doesn’t seem to make sense at this point.凸 2B
@BrittenyMcKenzie1 hour ago@o_huskywolfdean7 yes they literally said in some reports l’ve heard he blacked out and was having convulsions in the lobby. If that’s the case like you said why would they lock him in his room? Nothing is adding up!! I hope they get to the bottom of this so his son and family will one day have peace and some kind of solace in knowing they at least know for sure what happened to Liam. @BrittenyMcKenzie2 hours agoWhat if management/ hotel employees threw him off? o_huskywolfdean/1 hour ago (edited)There something definitely not adding up here. Like the way they handled Liam and sent it to his room, locking him in there with only balcony he had access to.Not calling an ambulance when he blacked out after he was feeling unwell, they didn’t give him any medical attention that could save his life. The phone call to the dispatcher seem off.く

@fairuzmaileen56913 hours ago (edited)The “witness” saying he was passing out drugged-up is an employee from the hotel, hotel which in this moment is under investigation. Fans witnesses saw him an hour before his death and say he was lucid and sober, he spoke to his fans

@kathikay894255 minutes agosounds sketchy what the hotel employee said. How do we know if he hasn’t already fell when the call was made
nillyk56713 hours ago@rebeccapugh2297 There are parts missing because the cameras were turned off.凸
@nillyk56713 hours ago@falalalalaa See? That’s a lie because there’s contradictory statements from the employees. They first said he had to be escorted to his room but then the head of reception said that he walked to his room on his own. I listened to the recordings myself. They keep contradicting themselves.
@nillyk56713 hours ago@falalalalaa The disturbance story is strange. The ones who made a big fuss were the two escorts that wanted to get paid. Liam was talking to his fans and was completely fine one and a half hour before he passed away.

thoughts on the final girls alliance as of ep 2?
(I saw you asking for open ended questions and ngl I thought about sending you one that’s just straight up “give me your Scott thoughts” but then. That might be Too Much)
you’re right about the scott part but it’s funny how much i talk about him considering i don’t even watch his pov (just me, i can’t stand the editing and him repeating the same thing to different people. chronic yapper unfortunately)
honestly i feel like although their relationships are obviously strained, the alliance is going to stick mostly together. idk if this is a hot take but people always say pearl is chasing the conflict, but imo both pearl and scott are very conflict-avoidant.
i don’t count double life because that was cc!pearl deliberately putting on a persona that was very different from how c!pearl would naturally act (though, of course, still within reason)
now obviously for scott because he explicitly tells his audience and tells other players that he’s not here to make enemies, even a surface-level viewer can tell that he doesn’t usually instigate. but because pearl doesn’t do any of that meta commentary in the life series and just goes along regularly her interactions go more unnoticed and it’s far easier to just believe it when scott says “pearl’s trying to make enemies”. i have no idea why he’s still seen as a reliable source but whatever he says automatically becomes entrenched in fanon. as you might expect this is aneurysm-inducing for a pearl main
now i’m being subjective when i say pearl doesn’t actively seek enemies, at least not like joel or scar. my most persuasive argument is that people often bring up that scott places high because of the way he plays the social game. the thing is, pearl places higher. and she’s not distinctly better at pvp than scott.
“the social game” isn’t just making allies with everyone. it’s knowing your limits. scott indiscriminately makes friends with everyone, but pearl doesn’t bother with that. take SL. pearl didn’t try to have friendships with everyone, but she stuck with mounders, and she stuck with gem, resulting in both alliances having a shared advantage. the end justifies the means; if pearl makes a few enemies along the way, but she still places high, doesn’t it show that she’s clearly careful about her chances of survival? it’s the same with scar: he may act oblivious, but if he wins the season, you can’t really say anything.
anyway, i don’t think pearl does try to make enemies. she’s just a mirror, in that if you wrong her she’ll wrong you a thousand times over. but if you’re nice/neutral to her she’s not going to try and anger you for no reason, which is a strange characterisation for her
as an aside: ever since DL pearl has been treated like a ticking bomb in general so her actions undergo a lot more scrutiny (in-game) than scott’s. so unless she treads really really carefully there’s always bound to be someone calling her insane, and pearl is not the type to tread carefully.
back to the topic at hand. like i said, since pearl and scott prefer to avoid conflict, neither of them would be the type to pull something as dramatic as a betrayal. yes, they would snark each other constantly, but they’re both trying to upload the status quo (one more successfully than the other), and they’re both so desperate to be seen as loyal (again, one more successfully than the other). that’s their problem. they’re both the “good guys” in their heads (the validity of this is up to interpretation), so they probably wouldn’t pull a “bad” stunt like deserting or betraying.
as for cleo and impulse, they don’t really have direct beef with anyone else in the alliance. it’s mostly pearl and scott. if you squint maybe pearl/cleo? but they’re actually pretty civil if you take scott out of the equation. so yeah

I guess I’m writing a pro-Gabriel Picolo rant? Scroll away if you dgaf lol
Gabriel Picolo is a comic artist that’s well-known for being the creator of “casual teen titans”, which is pretty popular, and I’m pretty sure most people in the fanart/social media art/dc comics spheres have seen his art at least once before
There are people who really dislike Picolo’s teen titans art because 1: they just don’t like the style, or 2: they don’t like how he’s effected the way that casual fans view or know the characters
Note: I have some extra notes added at the bottom of the rant, if you’re invested in the teen titans you may want to read that stuff first, I just didn’t want a huge section of other details before the actual main content of this post
I’m pretty sure, from my limited knowledge, the criticism is that now a big section of teen titans fandom talk and creations are about/largely inspired by Picolo’s vision, instead of about the original/primary source/comic depictions of the teen titans
My opinion is that yes, his interpretation of the teen titans is pretty different from the comic source material, and yes he has largely changed the way casual fans know the teen titans
But! I want to point out that the contribution of non-comic fans, at least within teen titans fandom, has always been a big section of that fandom’s creation/disourse, because let’s face it, most people know about the teen titans from their shows, not the comics. And so, a large section of teen titans fandom has always been about secondary adaptations
Basically, I just want to say that blaming Picolo for a large section of teen titans fandom being different from the comics isn’t fair, and the people who blame him specifically are choosing the wrong target to be mad at. Go ahead and be annoyed when you see non-comic creations take up space in your fandom interactions, but please don’t make Picolo the fall guy
Rant over I guess? I honestly didn’t realize I had this much to say. I just really like Picolo, I’ve been following his art since before DC even signed him, back when his posts were simply fanart. Actually, I think I’ve been a fan of his since at least 2016. Wild. Anyways, thanks for listening, bye!
Note 1: I got halfway through typing this, realized that maybe this isn’t as much of a common discussion topic as I thought, tried to find some posts of people sharing their Picolo criticisms, and then didn’t find any. I swear I’ve seen these posts before, but maybe I’m at least exaggerating how much people say this, idk
Note 2: I’m not the most knowledgeable source for this discussion. Keep reading if you want, or don’t. I don’t know a lot about teen titans specifically, I just like Picolo’s art a lot and feel like sharing my thoughts
Note 3: This post is mainly about Picolo’s posted art and casual teen titans world, not his graphic novels, which I suppose are kinda the same thing but not really because his posts are way more popular
Note 4: By casual fans, I mean people who have never read/read very few comics, people who know them from show/movie adaptations, and people who know them from fandom/social media

character ask: kagami, momoi, alex and himuro 👀👀👀
!!! omg thank u Ceru! u might be one of my favorite mutuals <33 (putting this under a read more just so I can speak at lengths about each individual character)
Why I like Kagami: this is where I sarcastically ask “why DON’T i like him” but that’s literally the next question so; he’s everything i want to be and more. He has the determination and the willpower to make his own dreams come true, he’s gay as shit, he’s tall and buff and well-adjusted, mature enough to live on his own at an annoyingly young age, he’s funny and dumb and a total himbo as well as an excellent advisor bc of how grounded he is.
Why I don’t: I’m... not really good with explosive people. Violent men with loud voices especially scare me, and I’d think I’d flinch around him a lot and that would make me rlly anxious.
Favorite episode: it’s a toss-up between the Seirin fam visiting his place for the first time (is it where Kuroko confesses his love to him and then passes out in his arms? idk), and the onsen episode. I also loved all his plays against Kise and Aomine. AND the training camp w him running a lot in the sand.
Favorite season/movie: season 2 probably because he’s not a jerk anymore, but he’s still on his way to shed off any asshole behavior stuck to him. And I actually liked Last Game?
Favorite line: “There’s no such thing as useless effort.” and “This is our drama and we write the plot.” because he’s so ridiculous.
Favorite outfit: all of his casual fits... comfy but manly is my Jam
OTP: AoKaga....they’re truly soulmates, star-crossed lovers, canonically brought together by fate.
Brotp/otp no. 2: KagaKuro, I love them
Head Canon: I have several collections because I think too much about this boy, but here’s something I think about his family: he doesn’t know what happened to his mom. He never asked, because it wasn’t relevant, and he didn’t want to inconvenience his dad by questioning him. Occasionally, as a kid he felt like he was missing out on something (seeing other kids with their moms, feeling like they’re being treated with much more gentle care because they have moms), but as he grew older he realized that nurturing behavior shouldn’t have been limited to only a mother, and that he was just straight up neglected without any regards to missing a parent in his life.
Unpopular opinion: I never realized this was an unpopular opinion but I’m glad he went back to America at the end of Last Game. Obviously, it’s sad that he had to separate from the others, but I felt like Japanese basketball has always been just a stepping point to him, and now that he’d beat the best of them, it was time to move on. And it also warms my heart that him getting scouted in the US gave Aomine hope to aim big, too. I felt like both of them would’ve felt trapped in Japan with their skill sets.
A wish: I want him to be happy and gay and to confront Himuro and tell him how hurt he was by how he treated him and probably do the same to his dad too
An oh-god-please-dont-ever-happen: ....whatever I’d say Shinsun has probably written it/will write it, but I don’t want him to forget about the GoM just because he becomes a world-famous athlete.
5 words to best describe them: sweet child with anger issues
My nickname for them: not mine (it’s Sypha’s) but “Kags”, Kagami, Tigerboy, Kagababe, Baby
Why I like Momoi: she is SO nurturing and sweet and she cares so much about her boys!! I’m sorry it always turns into “how they remind me of myself” but actually I get feeling like a background character and being the moral/emotional/physical support of those who are more talented or in any way better than you. I feel a strange kind of kinship with her and also,,, feminine girls make my heart stop, and it doesn’t get more feminine than Momoi. Added: Aomine aside, the Touou team wouldn’t worth shit without her skills tbh, and she’s not in any way less than the GoM. Also, I appreciate her being the one person to try to keep their friend group together.
Why I don’t: Analytical People Scare me like!! how do u know stuff people are Unknowable!! I usually am also irked by her pointing out Riko’s breast size but I can just pretend that’s in a gay way (maybe Momoi likes girls with small boobs and she’s just bad at flirting) (also I don’t exactly liked her calling Aomine a “ganguro” but I have too little knowledge on the use of this word to say exactly why)
Favorite episode (scene if movie): uh the one where Aomine made her cry? It really came through how much love she actually has for her friends at that one.
Favorite season/movie: she was great in all of them!!
Favorite line: I can’t remember the exact quote and Google isn’t really helpful either but the one where she made Kuroko promise they’ll always play together or something? Or that they’re gonna beat Aomine?? idk?
Favorite outfit: I like all of them but mostly I just appreciate her wearing so many hoodies, she looks so cute in them
OTP / Brotp: it’s both AoMomo. I feel like the have the most special and strongest bond in the entire series.
Head Canon: She’s never been shown to do, but I feel like she wears Aomine’s clothes a Lot. Also, they definitely have sleepovers To This Day.
Unpopular opinion: Momoi is good at basketball and she loves playing!!! But try being successful in it when ur opponents are Giants and Way More Buff than you are
A wish: I wish people appreciated her more!! Both in fandom and in canon. She’s an amazing person and she has her own skills and strengths that are rarely explored or even mentioned anywhere.
An oh-god-please-dont-ever-happen: her falling out with her boys ;-; I do not want that
5 words to best describe them: strawberry sweetheart to steal ur heart
My nickname for them: Satsuki :> I feel like it’s a little too much to call characters on their first names sometimes but hers is so cute I can’t
Why I like Alex: yet again another woman with an extensive skill set. I love her persistence and again I appreciate getting disillusioned and finding your way back to the thing you love. Also it’s just sweet that she did that by teaching (again, something I can relate to)
Why I don’t: the whole “kissing children” thing rubbed me the wrong way but again, just like Momoi’s obsession with comparing breast sizes, it’s just bad/sexist writing from Fujimaki probably
Favorite episode (scene if movie): adshg any and all where she expressed that Himuro and Kagami are equally important to her <33 that shit makes my heart burst
Favorite season/movie: she only appears towards the end of s2 and in s3 so... I guess s3?
Favorite line: its so Bad that u literally can’t find the iconic quotes of these iconic ladies anywhere but... her story on finding her passion again through teaching kids, and anytime she mentions her fondness of Kagami and Himuro.
Favorite outfit: her iconic olive green coat with the short red shorts... wtf was that I loved it.
OTP: she doesn’t really interact with people her age but I’ve heard she’s shipped with Masako Araki and I’ve seen some seriously good fanarts and like... Yes Good I’d Love To See It
Brotp: I feel like her and Himuro would be that sassy pair that Kagami tries and fails to contain and they get into all sorts of weird, absurd situations asdjs what I’m trying to say is Kagami has to bail them out of jail from time to time
Head Canon: fck me if I’m wrong but she’s the lesbian single mom of the two gay kids she reluctantly adopted from the streets
Unpopular opinion: it’s more like another headcanon, but she can dunk and she taught Kagami how to do it.
A wish: I’d love her to coach the Seirin fam more!! Pls let her be part of her children’s lives (she could also judge streetball games between the goms it would be fun)
An oh-god-please-dont-ever-happen: anything about her being romantically involved with her pupils makes me.................no
5 words to best describe them: Beautiful Beach Blonde Basketball....goddess
My nickname for them: Alex!! sometimes An Icon
Why I like Himuro: em dash Asdgsdj I’m joking, I’m becoming more and more fond of the boy. Once I realized that he shouldn’t have been the “bigger person” in that situation and one year doesn’t really mean much when you’re that young and that hurt, I realized he’s actually a good and hard-working kid and I’m sorry for giving him so much shade. Also I really like his snark and sass, but that might not even be canon at this point tbh
Why I don’t: I’m still sort of irked by him beating down on Kagami because he was envious/mad, but I realized the aspect of that situation that Really got to me was how devoted Kagami still was to him after all that. That devotion was what felt toxic, nothing that Himuro actually did to him.
Favorite episode (scene if movie): the time they met up w Kagami just to exchange a dramatic socially distancing bro fist and a few encouraging words.... gays be Like That
Favorite season/movie: I really didn’t mind s3 Himuro
Favorite line: apparently he’s said some iconic stuff that I don’t remember (and my sources don’t seem really legit) but I’m gonna say “let’s see you become number 1, bro” because again, that’s just so ridiculous and endearing. On one hand he really went from loathing Kagami to rooting for him and wanting him to reach his full potential and on the other, honey ur like 17 stop speaking like That
Favorite outfit: his knitted V-neck sweaters and the black coat with the white fur.... boy’s got all the fashion sense that’s missing from Kagami
OTP: can I say.....AoHimu asdfh I ship 3/4 of these characters with Aomine what does that say about me
Brotp: KagaHimu. They can be sweet, but I’ve only ever seen Jake write them really well
Head Canon: I’ve been entertaining the idea of....trans Himuro.....
Unpopular opinion: everyone thinks that Kagami is the violent kid and Himuro is the chill, sweet child who’s somehow wound up with this mess of a fiery tiger, but it’s actually Himuro who taught Kagami how to fight and Kagami learned quite a lot of aggression from him
A wish: I feel like Himuro should’ve gotten a separate episode to explore his thoughts, feelings and past. He had so much potential as a character Is2g
An oh-god-please-dont-ever-happen: him quitting basketball would fucking destroy me. I’d be devastated for others too, but it would really pull on my heartstrings if he just dropped the only thing he’s been so passionate about.
5 words to best describe them: gender-non-conforming emo child
My nickname for them: Himu, Tatsuya, Tatsu
#ask and i shall answer#izukillme#himuro tatsuya#alex garcia#momoi satsuki#kagami taiga#this is long as fuck#also happy birthday himuro??!!!!!

I’m tired of ‘leftist’ anti-intellectualism and America-centric xenophobia posing as liberalism.
Protip: If you are anti-academia on subjects of culture not being taught by someone genetically from that culture, even if they know nothing about the culture they are talking about and have never participated in it and were never raised with it... over someone who actually does have a background in knowledge from people of that culture who lived in it and were raised in it... you might actually be the imperialist you are talking about fighting against. You might actually be silencing the people you think you are elevating through deplatforming actual sources from the cultural background talked about, artificially holding up someone with the right genes but no heritage or ties. You might want appearance over substance to be a “good person.” Rethink your views on academia. Think critically. What sources is a person using? Does a person talk about Africa like it's a country and not a continent (ew), or does the person have a list of resources about specific cultures as spoken about by the people from those cultures? Do they make effort in finding anyone from that culture to present or speak in class, if possible? Do they show videos of those people, which are not denigrating to them? Did the person work hard to find resources for you in a language you understand, or did they work to translate for you? Or are their resources some old white dude from 200 years ago, like using the Budge translations for (ancient) Egyptian? Did they quote Fiona Graham or Liza Dalby on geisha? Because of those people is a damn liar who took a fucktonne of money and prestige from an ailing geisha house and ran, and one actually trained as an anthropologist who spent time in Pontocho, where they knew exactly what she was there for and they suggested she debuted as a geisha to better understand them. Does the person gloss over issues like war or genocide? Or do they say, "Yeah, we should probably talk about that. In fact, you can use some example from recent history to understand the attitudes a bit better. Here they are, and here are some differences. Here are some further reading (and if available, video) sources, including from the groups that got really fucked over." If you SAY you are into historybounding (taking historical elements in your wardrobe and making it ‘new’ fashion) and you want to make the frilly French dresses and the London fog coats, but don't ever want to talk about how people eventually used the Versailles floors as a latrine because of the decadence and wanton wealth they collapsed into... and how the common people suffered because of it... Or how England discriminated against it's own people heavily, relegating Jewish English people to certain neighbourhoods or refused jobs to them, or treated the Moorish-descent like shit, or actively would beat the Irish in public and stole their land... you might not be into history or culture. You might just like looking at the pretty things and copying them. You know. Probably culturally appropriating (if not borderline doing so). Not just "history bounding." People in a marginalised group often have to learn things about our own groups’ history, or else we might see "Stonewall" and believe that a white guy threw the first brick, or that "queer" is a slur. Our own people, gasp, might have to learn from... academia. And strangely, I know, it's so weird, but some of the people who teach... use primary sources (that’s sources from the time/place/people the source talks about, like Gay Manifesto written by gay man Carl Wittman)... or are closeted about being experts on the subjects... because they are talking about their own groups and STILL face discrimination and might lose those precious jobs if they are out... and they're just not identifiable by your *outsider* standards. And sorry, but if you don't know your own history, yes, you are an outsider in that sense. Yeah, I can trace some of my family lineage to Turtle Tribe Seneca. But I am an outsider because the only reservation I've ever been on is the one to Olive Garden. I might have to *gasp* turn to actual knowledgeable people to learn something about that. I can't just dress up in whatever or do whatever and say, "No, it's okay! My great-grandmother is Seneca!" and then claim not knowing better because my heritage was stolen by federal American laws. That's not how that works. There is some tentative evidence that some of my family was Jewish before hiding it and coming to America in the late 1930s. But I still have to go through an official conversion process. I still have to learn Jewish history and Jewish culture, and about Jewish diaspora issues. That’s how it works. If you are Japanese in Japan, same thing applies to certain things. Like if you are performing tea ceremony with your school, you can’t just wander in to most of them with whatever pretty kimono you want. There are rules for that. It is a language, not just a dress. You will be sent home. If you don’t want to adhere to those rules, you will not be accepted. That’s how it works. It sucks, totally. But welcome to real life. You might have to actually work at things... Including managing your feelings and not making other people responsible for them. You might have to take responsibility AND bury your ego long enough to learn from educated people. One tip is... Question sources! That was my biggest gripe ten years ago! Plenty of books about Japanese culture, and all of them with lots of white people (white according to American-centric ideas about whiteness) writing the narrative! I had to work to find books about Japanese social ideas written by Japanese authors. You might have to work, too, and not blame other people for not just *handing you shit.* But in the end, accept that other people might know more than you and that is isn't about being Uppity by nature. It's also about "I have all this, you want some?"
If you don't want to learn, then you have to leave the classroom. You can't be a child, throwing a temper tantrum. You're a grown-up. But don't just assume by someone's face that you magically already know how things will be. Ask for a list, a syllabus, a source, a curriculum vitae. That should give you some insight on what to expect. Ask for clarification. Oh, this class is teaching Arthur Conan Doyle? WHAT are they teaching about him, specifically? Erasure isn’t the answer, here. That legacy still exists.
Stick to a scope: you can't fit six books of info in one hour. You need to stay focused. That's part of learning. No "whaddabouts?" Yes, write them down and message them in! But they might not be for this specific post, lecture, or class. The class might need a thing right then, like when my Humanities prof decided that Britain just "had a skirmish" with Benin. No, they committed genocide because Benin refused to become a colony of England, and you need to know that RIGHT NOW while the class is happening, before the moment is gone or internalized. But if you have a side comment about what happened to diaspora in WW2 once they moved to Hawaii and Brazil, the focus of the class might be on experiences *in Japan* and not on diaspora. Email it. It might become another class. There isn't time for that right now. That doesn't mean the prof hates diaspora Japanese. It doesn't mean diaspora don't matter. It just means that the class is limited in focus and time, and right now, the focus isn't on diaspora. Don't make a big dramatic deal about it. Instead, idk, maybe write a well-sourced paper on diaspora experiences while fleeing hostile Showa-era takeover and release it publicly. You can just... do that. I've done that with transcripts for movies that don't have them, for essays on various topics. You can even get paid for that content! No one had to "approve" me. I put it on fucking Tumblr so everyone could have it. Open-source means something. jfc people. Stop whining. Start having open conversations instead of shutting anything new or different down. Stop the anti-intellectualism disguised as liberalism. Stop the xenophobia and nativism disguised as cultural protection. It's great when a culture decides for itself that most people (from that culture) don't want foreign interaction or interference! Leave them the fuck alone! It isn’t hard! Some cultures are closed. Some are semi-closed, like there’s certain things you can learn about or participate in but others are only for people from that background. But don't get mad when a totally different culture doesn't care or uses it for leverage. You don’t get to dismiss a different culture or denigrate them under the guise of “protecting” other POC by erasing them. And if your excuse is (Culture/group) is imperialistic/all people of ____ descent/race are _____ DUDE FIRST OF ALL WTF and second of all, let me tell you something about American history. French history. English history. There are some nuanced conversations we COULD have here, like adults. Or you could just be honest and say, “This isn’t a conversation I’d like to have right now.” That’s totally fine. Sometimes you just don’t have the spoons or time. I often don’t, being disabled. Or you could shut down like a child and say that this is fine but then mute all posts until you get your way, and anyone who posts an actual source is wrong or bad because intellectuals and experts are suspicious. Your choice. Real life is complicated. Figure it out instead of trying to reduce hard things to a box to fit in easily. Expand your world past your little tiny experiences in your own country and background. Stop assuming every fucking thing in the world works like it does in America. Stop approving/disapproving of any information that doesn’t match up with your American morality or experiences- there are *other people* that deal with things other ways than we do. Stop wholesale condemning anyone better informed than you just because of your ego. Start using some of those critical thinking skills you are supposed to have. If you don’t know how, type “critical thinking development” into youtube for tutorials. -------- Edit: hahaha I KNEW that Tumblr deleted something when it highlighted it. I just couldn’t figure out what at the time. The difference between Graham and Dalby: one worked in Pontocho as a geisha for research, and they knew that ahead of time; Graham lied her ass off to geisha and then tried to open her own house after taking only a few lessons to get famous and make a lot of money. She’s a fucking embarrassment and worse. --------------- Update 11/3 Turns out that dig I made about French costuming (a perennial fave in historybounding and historical sewing groups) and imperialism wasn’t all that far off... here’s a whole ass thread about how many fucking African presidents and leaders France has specifically killed, and how much France has done to just Africa relatively recently. That’s JUST to Africa. I bet some of my Mi’kMaq and Algonquin-descent friends would have some things to say about heritage erasure regarding the French. https://thurisazsalail.tumblr.com/post/633807847387512832

( IMOGEN POOTS. THIRTY. CIS-FEMALE. SHE/HER. ) in texas, FRANCINE WOLFF is more commonly known as FRANKIE. they’ve been living in stratford for THIRTY YEARS and currently a PARAMEDIC. some say they are AMORAL & MEEK but i’m more inclined to believe those that say they’re UNPREDICTABLE & BENEVOLENT. if you walk by their house, you can sometimes hear UNDER THE GRAVEYARD by OZZY OSBOURNE playing from their window. ( trembling hands , blood stained uniform , torn up medical books , chipped nail polish )
[ BLOOD, DRUGS, DRUG ABUSE & ADDICTION, OVERDOSE TRIGGER WARNINGS ]
basics.
* goes by frankie – will cry if you call her francine
* panromantic / pansexual
*
* has a fairly nasty pill habit
* horror movie fanatic
* has a fairly nasty pill habit
* frankie is one of the only members of her family who did not choose a career within the police department
* major family issues
* very obscure sense of morals, mostly just wants to help people even if that means breaking the law
about.
✘ frankie has spent her entire life in stratford, for no other reason that she does not know where else to go. generations of her family have grown up here and never left – so why should she ?? she feels as if she’s stuck and should simply remain.
✘ with her father and grandfather being both deputies within the sheriffs department, along with her siblings as well, frankie has always felt pressured by their reputation. especially with their very much outspoken hatred towards the gangs within town. perhaps it was her rebilious phase settling in, but she found herself drawn towards those groups. outlaws of any kind, really. anything that screamed the entire opposite of her family.
✘ frankie’s interest in medicine comes from an unusual source. she’s had a strange fascination with blood and violence from a young age. something about it simply just attracts her and she can’t particularly place a finger on it. in fact, the interest bothers her quite greatly at times. she tries her best to ignore it and tries to place it into a practical sense. which is why she chose to go into the field of EMS, she could fuel her obsession without anyone batting an eye, and at the same time she could help people.
✘ while frankie is a paramedic, she’s an incredibly corrupt one. a lot of her patients end up being criminals, a lot of the time in trouble with the law or hold the potential to be in some sort of trouble. she’s helped people escape custody at the hospital numerous times, failed to report things she should to the police, smuggle out medications and supplies from the hospital, and everything in between. she neither views her actions as right or wrong, she’s simply just helping out people when she can.
✘ a lot of her paramedic work also happens off duty, where she’s called into sketchy situations because people can’t go to the hospital in fear of being caught or questioned by the police. she can no longer keep track of the amount of times she’s had to stitch up someone in a poorly lit room with limited supplies at her disposable. but she does it every time, without question.
✘ [ DRUG TRIGGER WARNING ] while on the outside, frankie seems to handle her job just fine, more times than not she had to self-medicate in order to keep her nerves in check. she witnesses a lot of tragedy, death and grief in her lifetime and she has to keep her composure somehow. she refuses to believe she has an addiction, and for those who are aware of it she simply denies it all. her addiction has caused a near constant tremble in her hands, only disappearing when she’s hyper focused on her work. it’s a characteristic she tries to ignore, and shrugs her shoulders when pointed out.
✘ [ OVERDOSE TRIGGER WARNING ] unfortunately , after a particularly bad incident, frankie accidentally overdosed and landed herself in hospital for a short stint of time. her father, not wanting to have any shame or question directed towards his family, managed to keep the whole thing under wraps. a few people are aware of what happened, but for some reason of the other keep quiet about it. especially the person who found her [ yall im sorry but potential connection bye ] she took a brief break from her job whilst she was recovering, and for a lot of people her short disappearance is left unanswered. since the overdose she’s been sort of sober if you can even call it that. she’s been trying to keep things under control but ya gal ain’t so good at that.
✘ when she’s not doing EMS work, both on and off-duty, you’ll probably find her at a club or bar of some sort trying to wind down. it’s not so much about the drinking, she just likes to party and dance whenever she gets the chance. she’s pretty busy most of the time, and ends up taking a lot of night shifts, so partying isnt something she gets to do all the time. she can be quite shy sometimes so she needs a bit of a party setting in order to let loose and have some fun. is that troubling ?? maybe so, but she chooses to ignore it.
✘ horror movie fanatic. are we surprised ?? you’ll often find frankie locked up in her house, horror movies playing in the background. it keeps her sane and she would very much appreciate it if you don’t mention it. she finds it a little embarrassing sometimes. she’s very shy ALRIGHT.
✘ if you call her francine she might just cry. she hates it. only her family calls her that. if you’re special she MIGHT accept fran in a pinch but she always introduces herself as frankie. francine is reserved for family and legal documents alright.
wanted connections.:
✘ BLACKMAIL: [ OPEN ] someone who has gained the knowledge of her corrupted ways and is using it as a means to exploit her. whether it’s because they dislike her, they need information, or they are simply malicious and want to use it against her for their own needs and wishes. please for the love of god torture frankie goodbye
✘ FIRST LOVE / FIRST HEARTBREAK: [ OPEN ] because i am a hopeless romantic and also love angst, i demand some cute yet tragic love for frankie. am i lame and going to suggest it be a biker ?? maybe so, but i’m honestly down for civilians as well, whatever works out best !! i see this as someone she’s known for a good chunk of her life and the relationship may have been and off again and on again type of scenario. i also imagine they’re in the know of all her corrupt behavior within the EMS. idk man gimme angst so i can cRY
✘ EXES: [ OPEN ] even after her first heartbreak i imagine she’s dated around here and there. lots of opportunities for messy relationships with her busy work schedule and all the shady stuff she does on the sidelines.
✘ BEST FRIENDS / RIDE OR DIES: [ OPEN ] these would be the people she loves with her whole heart. she would do absolutely anything for them and literally commit crimes and risk her job for them. these could be childhood friends or simply friends she’s met along the way, even through her work ! especially her off-duty work
✘ FRIENDSHIPS: frankie needs friends ok pls she can be so sweet and loving and i just want her to drown everyone in platonic love and kisses
✘ HOOKUPS / FWBS: [ OPEN ] listen…ya gal has needs. she has a very busy schedule and doesnt have a lot of time to date. she needs to let off some steam alright ok cool
✘ PATIENTS / WORK RELATED [ OPEN ]: frankie opens up her services to a lot of people. sometimes she gets paid, other times she’s just owed a favour – but most of the time she simply just does it to help out. i imagine a lot of these connections would be affiliated with the gangs. she’s very much neutral to both sides and tries to help out whenever she can.
✘ WORK CONNECTIONS [ OPEN ]: police, fire department, hospital workers PLEASE come give frankie some love cus i imagine they’d interact a lot based off of their careers.
ok SO this is all i can think of right now but i am ofc open to a lot more connections and i REALLY wanna plot with all of yall and snatch up those connections.

On being uncertain if you’re neurodivergent
(I’m kinda responding to this post over here because while i doubt the last addition was derailment, putting this there would definitely be a complete hijack because this is a larger thing I’ve been meaning to write about and that post was more a prompt than a thing I’m directly replying to)
@intpdreamer said:
I have to ask. How strongly do you need to relate for this to be a valid thing to ask yourself? I relate much more strongly to how autistic people describe their experience of and interactions with the world than how most nt people do, but I'm scared to presume too much from that for fear of being That Person. But surely some people who relate to a lot of nd traits really do do so because of an undiagnosed neurodivergency? I completely get why the "we're all a bit" conclusion is bad and why being scared of being neurodivergent would be offensive, but how is someone supposed to know if they're "nt downplaying what a trait really means and concluding they have it" vs "actually neurodivergent but undiagnosed relating to the trait because they do have it"?
General prelude: this is apparently a controversial opinion and probably not representative of the broader ND community. I have only limited expertise, but I do have some. My tl;dr answer to the “how do you know” question at the end is mostly “you likely don’t” with some “i guess that’s what diagnosis is meant for?” and some “make sure you really understand what the trait is about, how pervasive and significant it is, and whether you also have other ones”
How to tell?
I don’t believe neurodivergent vs neurotypical to be a discrete thing. By which I mean, it’s not like there’s some idk structure in some person’s brain and not in another that you can be like, “you’re neurodivergent. you’re not.” Brains are incredibly fkin messy. So, there’s a whole miscellany of differences in like, size of structures or sensitivity or connectivity, each of which is probably continuous...but the combination of them is definitely continuous.
Which is not to say there’s some clear definable “spectrum” from “Maximally Neurotypical” to “Maximally Neurodivergent” (I mean, I guess you could add shit up or something but it’s not really very meaningful). Here’s a representation made by an autistic person:
(full comic)
So, at some point, we pick some sort of threshold to define what is significant aberration for any given trait, and how many traits you gotta have to Have The Condition. How do we decide it? Well, clinically, it goes like “does this thing fuck with your life?” (for how many, we test it out on lots of people and kinda sorta figure whether we think having x amount over- or underdecides people with significant effects; there’s a lot of judgement involved and it’s broadly agreed that there isn’t nearly enough of this done for it to be very accurate -- your clinician is meant to use their judgement on each particular case).
There’s a misconception that this is particular to psychiatric diagnoses, but it’s like, most shit. A person in that thread mentioned diabetes...that’s continuous, too. We picked out a threshold for that, too. The only difference is that there’s things you can quantitavely measure and find out at exactly what point it is that shit starts fucking with your life. (“everybody’s a little X” is still pretty silly and meaningless for both)
What this means is that there’s a lot of people who are in fact clear-cut neurotypical or neurodivergent...but there’s also a bunch of people hovering around the threshold point where it’s just like...??? up to judgement. And if you’ve never been diagnosed, it’s absolutely likely that you may be in any of those 3 groups and it’d be a complex call to make.
There’s a whole raaange of shit recommended for assessment, some of which you can self-administer (I think many of the listed instruments can be found here) if you really want to.
But I think...if you make an effort to understand autism/other neurodivergence and the specific traits you’re thinking of, it’s generally unlikely that you’re "nt downplaying what a trait really means and concluding they have it". That usually comes from people who’ve made no such effort. IF you know an ND person who’s happy to discuss (like, pls don’t expect them to do that), they could probably help confirm/deny whether you’re correctly understanding the trait.
And of course, if you vaguely relate to like, ONE or two traits, it’s probably disingenuous to presume. But if you consistently relate to many/most traits, have made effort to understand what they mean beyond face value, and they’re significant enough to affect your life beyond quirks, you’re probably good. But...
Does it really matter?
The chief purpose of formal diagnosis is treatment, research and resources (e.g. disability benefits). I’d venture that the purposes of informal identification with a diagnosis (or label in general) include understanding, community, communication and resources (e.g. information). I’m not sure which of these (or others) you’re seeking, but understanding and resources are free. I back using whatever frameworks are available to you to help understand yourself better. Asking yourself is 100% your right at all times.
The difficulty only really comes in with the community and communication aspects. So, let’s imagine you go wrong -- you’re actually NT but you read a couple things and decide you’re autistic. You start participating as a member in conversations about autism and telling people you’re autistic. What does that mean?
So, chances are that if you’re extrapolating from your personal experiences but are actually NT, you’re wrong about a bunch of shit. You’re now creating or reinforcing a bunch of misconceptions about autism to NTs. You’re also trivialising autistic people’s experiences by behaving as though your quirks are a whole thing. This is bad.
If you made and are continuing to make efforts to listen and understand, you’re probably not doing this too much. And upon considering it, you could probably reduce it further. But maybe it’s better if you don’t do it at all?
It’s my experience that people of the form “I think I might be X” are welcomed in many communities of X if approached sincerely (it’s also been my experience that they’re quite enthusiastic to help you understand because a lot of them also didn’t realise for a very long time and it improved their lives substantially when they did). Also, if you say “I think I might be X” to some random person in your life and proceed to do dumb shit that would’ve spread misconceptions, it’s a lot less likely that this person will go on to say, “this is what X people are like”.
So that’s probably a sensible middle ground where you don’t have to be 100% sure but you can still get (and add!) value from the descriptor.
Bit of a personal comment
So, with me...my psychiatrist suspects I’m autistic, and so did my mother (although she’s clueless and doesn’t count). The hospital diagnosed me with a personality disorder, and strongly suggested bipolar in the terms used in their comments. My psychiatrist has not diagnosed me with bipolar, but is nevertheless treating me with mood stabilisers. She also wanted me to test for epilepsy. I strongly suspect ADHD. Suffice to say, I have no fucking clue what’s actually going on with my brain and it seems neither does anyone else. The only thing we all agree on is there’s definitely something.
So, in the end, I read and apply shit from all sources, and I ID as generic “neurodivergent”.
Diagnoses and labels are very useful tools, but at the end of the day, they’re just that -- tools. And sometimes they can be very stupid and limited. Think things through properly and understand them well; be considerate and don’t impose; and then do what you think is best for you.
#(none of this is specifically targeted)#(except i guess 'if you're asking this question and making this effort you're probably good')#neurodivergence#autism#adhd#thoughts#diagnosis#self-dx is beneficial#if you take care to avoid the known possible harms

I think i fell into the trap of villains being more interesting than the heroes in bnha. I find tomura more entertaining. The kids in 1-a aside from bakugou and maybe todoroki are too nice? What are they’re flaws?
Hiya! Thanks for this cool question! I’m sorry, but you’ll be getting a looong essay from me!
And yeah, same!! Though I don’t think its that the UA kids are boing/too nice/flawed. When I first started watching MHA, I was on the lookout for a favorite character to stan. Uraraka, Iida, Eraserhead, even Snipe(???)… I actually didn’t care for Shigaraki Tomura at first, tho I did like his creepy vibe. When I finally did take notice, it was a delight trying to figure him out because he’s so contradictory and still mysterious. Making sense of it all/using all of the pieces to discover a characterization that made sense, was just fun and rewarding.
IDK exactly what changed to make me like him, but I think it was that I got interested in the worldbuilding, how exactly quirks and heroes and villains exist. Villains are a really cool perspective to look at the society from, and who better to use as an example than hand man?
…Which is also the main flaw I perceive about MHA.
(Everything here is my opinion! I’m a huge sci-fi/fantasy fan so that’s the angle I’m most interested in, and also I read the non-villain arcs like once and that information has largely been crowded out by the ever-expanding and all-consuming thoughts of the League of Villains, so I will get somethings wrong)
IMO, Worldbuilding is a bit weird, in that it’s not enough to establish the norms - which is hard enough - but often you must also establish the taboos. Figuring out how things function includes examining the dysfunctions. Sometimes you create a world only to tear it down.
But that’s the heart of speculative fiction - imagining different ways of living, different ways the world could be, taking aspects from our world and dissecting it. “Fantasy — the fantastic, the imagination that I love so dearly and that I’ve used to try to construct my own work — is everything that helps to expose more clearly and more powerfully the reality that surrounds us,” Julio Cortazár said. The classic sci-fi stories of exploration and invasion, othering, transhumanism - all are already issues irl: colonialism, discrimination, disability. The lives and conflicts in those stories can exist because of the lives and conflicts of real people as sources to build upon.
@dabistits has said this much more eloquently and comprehensively than I ever could, so go read her meta!!
It’s obvious Horikoshi has put a lot of thought into figuring out his world, with all sorts of details to flesh it out - he writes into it issues like the accommodation of bodies that deviate from the supposed norm; what if people had innate differences, some of which are seen as dangerous; discrimination; self-determination and the right to bear arms affecting the social contract. You can say, ‘Nal, you’re looking too deep into this, it’s a comic for 8-year-olds’, and it’s true! But the first words the begin the story are ‘People are not born equal’; I’m taking it as invitation to examine that.
So we have a world with its many dysfunctions and flawed systems. Everything that happens hinges pretty much on quirks. I think a great way to explore that is using plot and characterization. It’s not characters being plopped into the world; the world produces the characters. Development occurs as a response to trying to live under these conditions, trying to grow and push the boundaries, or accept and pass it on.
But I feel like Horikoshi haven’t done this with the UA kids?
These students are in the contained environment of school and not really interacting with the people they are to protect and serve, and their goal is to get stronger and more powerful but that’s kinda indistinguishable from any other shonen manga and not Hero-specific. Instead of just ‘use my quirk to punch a bad guy and save the day’, I wanna see situations where the kids learn that they cannot use physical methods, I wanna see the moral dilemma of arresting a person who punched out someone discriminating against them, I wanna see them having to accept failure and death as part of the job, dealing with the compassion fatigue. The Hero-specific things. Also, we don’t get to enter the headspace and background of the rest of Class 1A. It’s not the kid’s flaws.
So the questions Horikoshi brings up about society isn’t actually usually answered by the heroes (some of the exceptions are, as you point out, anon, Todoroki and Bakugou). They’re answered and navigated by the Villains. The Villains are the ‘failed’ products of the world, their grief and discontent is due to being unable to function in this specific society. Their motivations are specific to Hero-society and quirks. And I love that! I love that we get a better sense of the setting and society through their stories - Twice is the one who gets to show us the effect of All Might’s retirement, Spinner introduced us to mutant discrimination, Detnerat gave us some important info about the economy and quirk-usage rights.
The Heroes don’t get that? Not really? At the beginning of the manga, we do, though! Todoroki and his family, Shinsou and his quirk, Tenya and his brother. But after that, iirc, an issue is brought up, then usually quickly resolved. Kouta hates heroes? Midoriya becomes his hero and Kouta has a change of heart. The media rightfully rips into UA for the camp fiasco and the public agrees? The AFO and All Might fight overshadows that. Aoyama and Midoriya share a moment over quirk-incompatibility, but nothing more than that.
It’s not that I just side with the Villains completely. I love Vigilantes, and I love the characters that try to do good. Vigilantes explores the dysfunctions and idiosyncrasies. Doing good despite breaking the rules; the desire to use your quirk but having to suppress this innate part of yourself; questioning the Hero system but keeping the ideals.
Koichi, the main character, is very sweet, ‘too nice’ as you might describe, very mild-mannered, his adventures limited mostly to the streets of his neighborhood. He is not flashy like Shigaraki, but I like him a lot. His growth is in response to him learning to be a citizen of his world - what it means to do good, having to interact with the community and its people, finding a niche to make use of his quirk. Making a lasting effect on the every day of the streets. The ‘trigger drug’ storyline works really well because it’s both giving us some insights about how official investigation works and the legal definition of ‘Villain’ (Tsukauchi), the use of social media and Pop’s influence to detect the villains, the biological mechanism of quirks and things people use to enhance it, along with Knuckleduster’s history and developing the relationship between the vigilante trio.
So yeah! I feel like the full potential of the story Horikoshi wants to tell - this world that’s still dealing with the consequences of quirks appearing, the law enforcement system that arose from having to govern millions of individual with a million different abilities and needs, all of who has to learn how ‘great power comes with great responsibilities’ applies to them, and villain created by these circumstances, who is fated to be in a century-old battle that came to be because of the advent of the extraordinary, a wild fantastical full circle - hasn’t been shown through the UA kids and heroes. Instead, it comes across better from the Villains, and that’s why imo I find them more interesting.
#so sorry for the late reply!#thank you for asking!#this was a really fun one to think about#nalslastworkingbraincell#Anonymous#got kinda messy tho towards the end sorry!!#worldbuilding#kohei horikoshi#mha#bnha#heroaca#Villains#writing

This is really random and I'm kind of a new follower, but from what I could gather you have such a strong opinion on different topics, which I kind of admire bc I find that so important but can't really apply that to myself oftentimes idk. Is it part of your personality or are you trying to be consciously aware to not just 'consume numbly'? Hope that makes sense. And you're giving such good advice?? But an anon has already stated that correctly. Have a lovely day 🎃✨
hey new follower, welcome to you then, glad to have you around <3 that’s a very beautiful compliment, thank you. idk if you were looking for advice too but here it is because it’s late and i can’t help myself apparently lmao. (with the caveat that I too am a moron frequently like anyone)
...
i am sort of a chronic overthinker, so maybe it’s natural. that said, i used to think i didn’t really have an opinion for a long time. i found it difficult to express myself. and i looked up to people who i thought did it well for guidance. so i feel you
i went to a school where we prided ourselves on being able to talk convincingly about things we had zero knowledge about so eh (not that this is a good thing lmao) but i grew past that
i think i realized at some point i just tend to have opinions that are very long winded because i like looking at different sides of an issue. i think part of that is me being a contrary bitch, i don’t like going for the obvious meaning (maybe it’s residual trauma from being raised by someone who had a quasi cult leader type of approach to parenting lol). we are so easily tempted to disappear into the group, or a relationship. i feel like knowing your own mind, defining your own self image, seeing past the easy judgments and surface meanings, being able to understand reality on your own terms, is one of the deepest, most urgent forms of freedom. also empathy - which does not automatically mean endorsement - and trying to understand things and people from their own logic.
we tend to assign error or folly or bad intentions very easily. but it’s often because of the limits of our own understanding. and well, i have a weird brain. i grew up feeling like some sort of alien, often misunderstanding people, social habits, my own mind. so constant overanalysis is to me, the survival strategy that came the most naturally. and so as not to let my brain eat itself, i have gotten pretty good at figuring out what’s relevant and what’s nonsense ( i still could get better at it tbh). but part of me is constantly checking myself so i don’t do something terrible or terribly embarassing. wouldn’t wish that on anyone tbh. i am increasingly learning not to oversimplify myself for public consumption. my mindscape is a jungle, so be it. what’s the shape of yours ?
i also grew up in a lot of different social spheres. i met people from all sorts of social backgrounds, from billionaires who owned private beaches and designed jewllery for fun to people living in trailers without electricity or in the street, from prissy heiresses who believed using the wrong fork was a sin to best friends who had to work since middle school to help their parents. from all sorts of creeds, from wayward soldier priests baptising people in streams to new age ‘shamans’ whose houses smelled of pee, from staunch atheists to adorable nuns living in stone villages in the mountains and wild mama bear witches. from all sorts of politics, from faithful anarchists to political exiles fleeing dictatorships to crypto-royalists and decrepit neo-colonialist conservatives. from all sorts of cultures too. i think that’s the fave part of my childhood. people are just so interesting. but everyone operates within their own specific world, and you can’t judge people from your own perspective. of course there are things that are universally right or wrong but beyond that, you have to get into the world in which they move, understand its rules. see how it intersects with others. a lot of social interactions are role play. once you get that, you get the codes, you can move in any circle. (also : very rich people can be so unbelievably boring. they buy into their own hype so much, like spoiled babies. nothing to be very impressed about.) People wear façades and play different roles to different people; that’s not always a bad thing, after all parents have to be strong for their kids even when they’re scared. But now you’re an adult (or getting there) don’t let yourself be too mystified
also : power. dynamics of power are everywhere all the time. if you’re not aware of them, that’s a mark of privilege. ( in the end, who profits ? is this building empowerment for people and communities or is it stripping it away ?) but they’re not totally all consuming either. there’s also always agency, and chaos, and possibility. and compassion.
i think it’s important to accept that it’s okay not to have an opinion on everything. and also that it’s always growing, evolving, deepening. it’s possible you taught yourself, out of survival instinct or habit or something else, not to trust your own heart/brain/intuition/experience. I don't think it's anyone's natural state to just consume numbly. i’m sure you can step beyond that, everybody can. also ; learn how to embrace being destabilized. there is always this one moment between knowing something, learning you don’t really, and then getting a deeper perspective, that is scary, but it’s okay. you can come back to your center. like any sort of growth, really engaging with difference implies discomfort ; bear it, it’s worth it.
i think any opinion that is too static is likely to turn into bullshit in the long run. like a good wine, it should gain in complexity with age. also : read up on sociology/anthropology if you haven’t already there’s just so much good stuff in there (and a lot of bullshit too lol) about what it means to be human and cultures and how minds work and symbols and etc etc. and find good news sources because it can be very easy to feel disgusted by the world otherwise. and read as much and as diversely as you can
find things to love about thinking ? for me it’s ; i don’t believe in this binary between mind/body, feelings/reason etc, i think it’s bullshit and they all influence each other. and so does our environment. we learned to think by looking at and interacting with nature. some of our neurons are in our stomach. we’re made of star stuff. we grow by engaging with others. and not to sound like a hippie but that shit is breathtaking bro. we encoded the world with stories and symbols and use them to tell ourselves and each other stories and built community and we’re all the time engaged in this web weaving. so i see and i want to see more and more thinking like this organic, tangible process.
in the end, what is it important for you to have an opinion about ? i think it’s about passion, and love, and justice, and truth. what do you want to be moved by ? what do you want to honor with your possibilities for learning and knowledge ? where you invest your energy and time, you invest your life.when you have something you are passionate about, it will be much easier to express the subtlety and depth of a meaningful opinion about it. and then you can apply that to other areas of your life.
personally i want to (i have to) live like a diplomat, as a balancing act, with elegance and the ability to make tough decisions with grace, moving between all the layers of life and bearing gifts from one to the next. and i want to be able to move people, and give them the kind of stories and knowledge that are tools for them to heal and be happy and make the world better.
i have my work to do, like everyone else, of sorting through my shadows and making the dream stuff intelligible. in the end it’s all about finding an authentic life. your own inner logic. the bonds that nourish it, and what you want to give.
and i think once you find that is for you, i think finding your voice, an opinion that is truly yours and not copy pasted from some one else, will be much easier to start weaving. but don’t worry ; it happens in small steps. i bet you’re already on your way.

i am having a moment of “oh god, i probably ought to just drop all my blogs” even the ones i literally just made ?? idk i just have so many moments of being really, really overwhelmed and intimidated by like 80% of blogs, even mutuals, and it’s not as if anyone’s done anything wrong?? but as i continuously whine about on here i get so stressed out when i can’t even like ?? message someone?? even tho i like them and our characters have literally Every Reason to interact even in canon??? but at the same time i’m like..... where else would i go to rp?? and to rp these characters?? not to mention i like just about everyone i’ve met so far ??
i just am not sure what i can do to make this less difficult for myself ?? rp has never been so socially stressful for me in my life, though i imagine it’s the indie scene that’s really difficult to get comfortable in ?? i’ve considered dropping my canon characters and focusing on OCs (bc at least then i don’t have expectations of being Super In Character according to canon in games/comics/shows/whatever the source material is) but then i also consider doing the opposite so i have less worries of being, like, stupid ??
i have no idea how to really explain this otherwise and at least on my m*rvel blogs i’ve considered joining a ring/group rp, but then i’m worried about limiting my options/potential and also a lot of rules/expectations (especially compared to when i ran my own rps-- but maybe that’s why it kinda died after 4 years)
anyway i have no idea what i’ll do, probably nothing, considering i’d feel REALLY stupid going awol after bringing up 3 new blogs and having put so much into these mk ones, but i will try to blabber less about this in the future
#out of whips#unsure if i'm explaining myself or asking for advice but ehhhhhhhh#mayhaps i am just being dramatic#how do i Fix

yuna & flaws.
this is a subject I briefly kinda hinted at in my tuna post & found myself wanting to properly tackle. I've occasionally seen criticism of Yuna's character dismissing her as "the perfect woman" with no manifest flaws or the sorta faux "acing that job interview" type of flaws such as working too hard, being too selfless, being too kind etc. that are basically strengths masquerading as weaknesses and only really add to her inhuman excellence. and literally there's this one NPC chillin at the Moonflow that gives this highly refined character analysis: "Yuna embodies perfection". well, let's break this thing down, shall we?
and before I start, let it be known that I personally genuinely adore flawed characters, doesn't matter what type of flaws; it's something that to me, recommends a character and gets me invested in their story & struggles so yeah basically the bigger the human disaster and the more varied their range of f**kup the greater my fondness of them – and at the same time I'm a big fan of virtuous, noble-minded, goody-good sorta heroes so it's not really an anti-hero/anti-villain thing either. LOVE the latter lot as well but it's not like they own flaws if you know what I mean
someone'll ask me why i like x and i'm like off the top of my head they're just so dumb and completely obnoxious and mediocre at everything i love it
so what I'm saying is me talking yuna & flaws is actually a great compliment to her & an expression of my abundant love & adoration
so let's address her
1. workaholic tendencies/excessive selflessness/excessive kindness. so are these real defects or sneaky supplemental strengths or the sly ploys of employee hopefuls? well I might as well fully embrace that metaphor and assert that throughout the pilgrimage, Yuna is actually doing a sort of prolonged large-scale job interview. I mean, she already got the job – business card says 'fully-fledged summoner' – yay – but what she's really shooting for is 'Spira's ray of light', an all-around national hero figure and constant 24/7 source of inspiration, comfort & consolation (not to mention hands-on aid) symbol of hope & salvation etc etc. AND eventual concrete salvation lol. basically, yes, she is aiming for an inhuman standard. there's a lot of internal & external pressure on her, she's constantly hyper-aware of her very demanding role as a summoner and to some extent putting on a performance – not really putting on an act (because damn right this girl is all kinds of compassionate and altruistic and noble and loving) but suppressing her individual rather more free-spirited & fun nature (that we see flashes of in FFX and an entire character arc built around in FFX-2)
perhaps you've met someone like this – some of them get quite good at keeping up the facade of perfection and self-sufficiency. Yuna at least is smart enough to show some transparency every now and then (like when she urges Shelinda not to put herself down, noting she's a beginner too). if she didn't, I don't think we'd like her as much. BUT even when she does, you can tell she's still quite conscious and cautious of her word choices and appearance and behavior and I actually think Hedy Burress's slow and pensive delivery is perfect here and beautifully underlines this aspect of her character.
2. excessive self-reliance/overconfidence/internal arrogance. her own words, "oh no, I was... overconfident." (btw, I really love it when characters show self-awareness of their faults, subverts a lot of ‘cool’ character tropes) so basically, tho Yuna would have us believe otherwise – I think the whole summoner thing has gotten to her head a tad. not externally – she looks, sounds, feels, smells and tastes all kinds of humble and modest, especially next to the likes of Dona – but is it all just a part of her 'daughter of Braska and future savior and relentless champion of goodness and hope' veneer? consider her actions, and you'll see she often overestimates her own abilities. yuna: "stand back! I'll summon!" seymour: "gurl pls" she outright refuses to share absolutely world-shatteringly important and critical information about Seymour with her guardians; instead lies to their faces, and comes up with a thoughtless plan to confront him herself (and then do what? ‘stop’ him? she fails to send him several times even in the presence of her guardians and when she goes to face him at Macalania Temple he ain't even dead yet lol) and basically starts a domino chain of events that eventually puts them all in extreme danger. now, one might wonder, a) does she truly think so little of her guardians – people mostly older and more experienced than her; whose literal full-time job it is to keep her safe from any and all danger – and their ability to handle unexpected twists and turns (AURON??? LULU??? come ON Yunie) that she would not trust them with this info and thought they'd only get in the way and genuinely thinks her oh-so-thorough-A+++ plans superior to anything they might have to contribute? unlikely. even Auron makes this observation. b) was she only graciously trying to protect said literal professional protectors? that's her own (initial) interpretation of the events, I'm sure. c) is there maybe an element of arrogance/pursuit of heroism/overestimation of own capability involved? glory-seeking might be a bit of a stretch, but seeing as in Spira in general there's this collective image of summoners as heroes and saviors and near superhuman beings... is she starting to, maybe just a little, believe the hype? I'm sorry but it makes me laugh everytime when I think of Yuna telling herself that 'sure i'll just go have a little chat with alleged murderer and maybe marry him if I have to, what could go wrong?? sure I have access to these six trusted friends and capable guardians all ready to jump off a cliff if I asked but this is really no biggie' it’s like that part in Frozen where Kristoff roasts Anna like “that’s your plan? talking to your sister??” except it’s much worse
(also my headcanon is that if that nosy temple attendant hadn't unearthed Jyscal’s sphere, Tidus would've, lol dude knows no shame or boundaries.)
3. insecurity/craving positive feedback. ok, I'm cheating, these aren't flaws, and we all experience them. but I do think they are oft-overlooked aspects of her character and I also want to bring them up to emphasize that they can and very often do co-exist with overconfidence/extreme self-reliance (pushing us to prove ourselves etc.) 30 seconds into her first ever interaction with Tidus, she has an extremely strong positive response to his throwaway markedly non-expert compliment on her first aeon, and she immediately proceeds to ask this, again, completely clueless outsider whether he thinks she can become High Summoner (lmao that part just kills me he just nods like he just learned the word earlier that day and she's like -deep breath- 'this means so much to me') idk, that scene just always gave me the vibe that she kinda really needed to hear those words and I won't go as far as to say she craves attention/adoration cuz again, clearly she has very altruistic motives behind her chosen profession but that bit is not the only time she shows a sense of insecurity/desire for validation/acknowledgement. her first words after her first sending, to the first person she sees? "hope I did okay"(altho she's not making it all about her given that she is crying too and thus actually breaking her summoner 'pillar of strength' code)
her insecurity also leads to her mimicking others at times, like in the Eternal Calm prologue you get the sense that she feels that the “same as always” Yuna isn’t good enough (Rikku does sorta take the wrong tone there) and this results in her imitating her cousin with all that “oh poopie” silliness and at times kinda trying too hard to act more edgy/assertive (at least that’s my interpretation of her X-2 characterization ALTHO it also leads to very positive and much-needed character development)
4. limited empathy/wanting things her way/and yes, sometimes making it all about her, there i said it. so yeah, if we take empathetic to mean nice and friendly, then yes, Yuna is obviously empathetic. but if we go with the actual definition as in "empathy = the ability to put yourself in another person's position / understand their feelings/experiences" I think she wayyyy struggles. heck, I think Lulu is the more empathetic of the two. let me explain. take any time Yuna & Tidus talk about Jecht. they more or less immediately come to the conclusion that they are in fact referring to the same person (at least she certainly does), yet Yuna never quite appreciates Tidus's perception of/history with Jecht, his own father. she is quick to protest his bashing with her own memory of a "kind and gentle man" (which is no less true/valid) and doesn't really seem to know how to handle the subject in conversation when his experiences so wildly clash with her own. even when she accurately perceives that he's hurting in Luca, she doesn't even try to inquire what's wrong or ask if there's anything she can do, but instead immediately relates his (unspecified and in actuality very specific and severe sort of) pain to her own experiences as a summoner and starts pushing onto him her own somewhat unhealthy if surprisingly fun coping techniques (thank you Yuna, for single-handedly bringing about the Greatest Scene ™ in FF history which I unironically adore). when she pep talks Shelinda (a great display of her kindness and thoughtfulness, as well as inability to understand other people's differing experiences and their nuances), again, she never asks her to elaborate on her situation but instead draws parallels to her own situation as a fledgling summoner. ('people are counting on me. oh and i'm sure they're counting on you too') neither does she ever ask Tidus what he wants to do in Spira, she asks him to be her guardian. even after her wish is granted (to be fair, it's what he found himself wanting as well) she checks with him whether he'll follow her all the way to Zanarkand, and when Tidus gives a very melancholy reply pointing out his own somewhat depressing reasons for the journey ('yea gotta see if my hometown's still there, it's probably not tho'), she makes this happy little noise. like... that's her takeaway. she clearly has a vision of how she wants things to play out and expects people to accommodate, whether she wants them there or not. ('I want him nearby' vs. 'I have to do this crazy stupid thing and I have to do it alone') contrast this with Lulu, who quite unlike Yuna, doesn't immediately become enamored with Tidus and his Zanarkand and his relation to a person she cherishes; but nevertheless starts helping him out immediately by educating him on Spiran customs/history (if that's not empathy/placing self in another person's position, idk what is)
5. naivete/hesitation to question established truths I think I addressed this one in my MBTI post and my eyes are getting tired. she also eventually manages to completely flip this one around and make it into one of her strengths without losing a sense of idealism and optimism, what a heroine
so anyway
-exits minefield-
-immediately returns- basically feel free to disagree and/or point out any factual errors/aspects of her character that I missed, whether positive or negative. basically this is my personal interpretation of the character and as I said, pretty much my love letter to her
OR you could add to these (join the Yuna roast we have cookies bwahahaa)

Naruto Spectacular
Seating/Glasses
Second back row, almost right at the wall. Awful seating, but I could still see things clearly. Some people had binoculars ;; This year I decided not to go with the translator glasses – I’m sure they have a proper name, but they’re these cool glasses you wear when watching the performance and as the characters speak, subtitles come up. I believe they’re available in English and Chinese. Something like Naruto is easy for me to understand without subtitles, and last year I felt like only the main points were being subbed, instead of everything (maybe a fear people couldn’t read fast enough?) so I’d probably only recommend them if your Japanese is lacking. I’m not sure if they’d work properly sitting so far away either – maybe they’d overlap on the actors too much? I think they’re better if you use them up close tbh.
The Show I apologise for skipping between musical, spectacular, play, spectacle and show ;;; We start off with Konohamaru fighting bad guys. Personally I don’t care for him, and it was really an excuse to put an actor in the audience and for Naruto to look cool when he saved Konohamaru. Unnecessary scene, and from my spot, hard to see.
Essentially everything up to the ‘find Sasuke’ arc is ignored. So if you’re hoping for Sakura screen time, you’d best go back to the source material. In saying that, Sakura’s fight with Sasori is mentioned a few times, and she explains Sasori’s mannerisms to Yamato when they do the whole ‘Kabuto is Sasori’s spy’ scene. I can understand why they skipped it, as while it was hella cool to watch her kick ass, it’d be difficult to do in a stage play and you’d need to get the Suna Three back for such small scenes etc etc. Maybe if they do this play again next year, they can add that in. Tsunade gets a song as she kinda explains the mission, but honestly, you could give her lines to literally any other character. She’s not that influential. I think she looks like Tsunade, but her speaking voice feels too harsh to me.
Sai is golden. He looks fine, he looks like Sai, sounds like Sai. Like, y’all, I realise that’s what acting is, but not everyone can do it well. After the show, and in the break, numerous people went and bought Sai goods. (Also Itachi goods) He was a perfect Sai. When they’re finding Sasuke in Orochimaru’s lair, Naruto and Sai have a song and it’s pretty touching… until Sai tries to sing about Naruto’s dick. Naruto has the most perfect ‘dude, for real?’ look and I can’t wait to see it on dvd.
Speaking of new team 7 – Yamato’s scary face is done so so well! They end up putting it on a large screen behind him. It looks mostly like someone with a torch on their face, so it’s a little cheesy, but it works really well in the scenes it’s done in (two or three times?). Sakura also did her ‘meeting Sai’ scene, when she hits both Naruto and Sai, incredibly well. Not only is she insanely cute, she’s the perfect Sakura. Enough cool and enough cute. If they continue to do musicals until the completion of the show, I’m a little worried how Sasuke-obsessed they’ll make her, but so far it’s been toned down, which I appreciate.
Unfortunately Sai doesn’t try to capture Sasuke in his sleep. I can understand why (unnecessary stage props and all), but Sasuke being such a moody bitch when he wakes up that he blows up the base will forever be one of my favourite things. The whole meeting Naruto and co scene is kind of a let down too. It was nice, but considering how that’s how Shippuden opened and the build up to get there, the play didn’t have the same feel. This play was rushed a little, and this scene suffered for it.
Sasuke killing Orochimaru was great tho. Orochimaru’s voice will always be amazing, speaking or singing, so I’ll probably never say an Orochimaru scene is bad lol It was sufficiently creepy (though again, a little too fast) and gave Sasuke and Orochimaru equal voices.
Another scene that suffered was collecting Taka. This one I mostly grumble at due to my Taka-bias tho. Obviously they can’t spend episodes gathering the three of them, and to be fair, they did get a song. Karin was a little overly sexual, but considering they only showed her being ott twice? I won’t complain (especially in that outfit – she can honestly do what she wants and I’ll agree ;;;) Sometimes it was actually kind of cute. Another scene cut was finding Zabuza’s sword. Considering the time it took in the anime, and all the scene changes, it makes sense, but I enjoyed seeing Sasuke actually test his team – here, we have him just believing they’ll be suitable instead of confirming it. Juugo’s whole ‘male female’ scene was good too, and Karin egging Juugo on in his fight against Suigetsu was a good touch too.
In between scenes we often have Akatsuki stuff – Itachi generally barges in on Sasuke’s songs to tell him he’s weak af, and wherever Itachi goes, Kisame goes too. Naruto and Taka sometimes join as well, same for Deidara.
I really liked Deidara. Unfortunately his character was greatly reduced, but considering he isn’t insanely plot relevant, I guess it doesn’t make much of a difference… (Un?)fortunately, when he creates the giant Deidara, it’s a blow up. I was trying really hard not to cackle. It’s ridiculous. I lowkey hate it, lowkey love it’s cheesiness. Also, from where I was sitting, the tongue that is in his chest looks a little like something else. It just kinda… sprung free and I couldn’t take it seriously at all =.= I guess this scene was gold for all the wrong reasons lol
The search team is sent out for Sasuke and them running looks so stupid. I understand how hard it is to run around, since the space is so limited, but maybe instead of such a long running scene, have some of it just be talking? Maybe it looked good from the centre of the audience, but from my spot, it looked really lame. Kurenai’s team makes an appearance, but get a line or two each. Karin still gets Juugo to help her scatter Sasuke’s stuff, but I don’t believe it’s explicitly said what her plan is, so unless you’ve seen the show/read the manga (safe to say most audience members would – but sometimes people come to these things just because (shout out to the 80 year old couple at the Digimon play), or are accompanying a friend), you wouldn’t know what her plan was.
Next is the Itachi vs Sasuke scene and it was so good. Like, idk how to explain it. They had doubles for clones, it was spot on with lines and emotions. The audience got really involved in it, and it sucks that you know what’s coming because it hurts that much more… I’d say this is probably the highlight of the play. Obviously they’re two popular characters and their actions, since even before their introductions, have been the driving force of some plot incidents (Itachi killing the clan motivates Sasuke to be strong, goes to Orochimaru) and other character’s motivation (Sasuke’s abscence motivates Team 7), not to mention how emotional this scene is, so I think a lot of time and effort was placed into this scene. It worked really well and I wish I could explain it better ;;;
Taka becomes Hebi, and Tobi is done really well. Tobi interacts with Pein and Konan as well, but mostly with the Uchiha brothers. I’m biased toward Tobi as he ran up to us in the finale and I could high five him, but shush. Those gloves are real nice but in this heat I can’t imagine they’d be super comfortable… The ending song is the same (and I really hope we get a cast version soon – honestly last year’s Gaara/Oro duet part was ICONIC). Naruto also had some hella cool rad sticks and when he spun them, it made a Naruto face and stuff. Rad af.
In the comments, Sasuke just kept cackling, while Yamato and Sai were minor low key throwing shade at Deidara and Tobi who were actually speaking. They were dorks so there was plenty of time to laugh at them lol This team works together so well and you can see they’re good friends – sometimes you don’t feel that but in a series that is based on, partly at least, the power of friendship and love, that’s super important.
Honestly, while this year lacked the jumping around action of last year’s, I think it kinda showed how they characters matured? As soon as it ended I wanted to see it again! While I wanted to see last years again too, I was more serious about seeing this years again, but this late in the season makes it way too difficult Guess I just have to wait for next year!
How does it compare to last year? I saw last year’s performance as well. Personally, I liked this year’s better. I am hugely Taka-biased tho. Even though my seats weren’t as good this year (were as bad as you could get tbh – last year I was in the second block, if I had been one row closer I could have high touched the actors), I feel more touched by this year’s performance – partly because it was more emotional to a lot of characters I guess? More interesting scenes too – the Lee/Naruto wake up scene last year was cute (and everything with InoShikaCho was amazing, and this musical didn’t have anything on that type of team bond/audience interaction feel, which was kinda sad), but this year had things like Orochimaru dying, so I guess it had less time for ‘filler’. Also, while I don’t hate Naruto, he’s not even in the top five of my fave Naruto characters ;; If anything, I felt like he was unnecessarily added in some scenes in this performance.
Also, while I didn’t talk to the fans (lots of people come by themselves, don’t want to talk to others and that’s ok! And I’m sure some of them are confused by the foreigner and worry about their English/my level of Japanese so don’t strike up a conversation and I’m too shy to do start one), when I was trying to organise the stupid amount of merch I bought, one girl offered to hold my coffee and someone else helped me when I dropped something. Also, the girls really brought their a-game this year and were splendidly dressed. I… wore a Naruto shirt and was underdressed in comparison ;;;
I felt like the girls around me were more emotional as well. Maybe some of the crowd last year had already seen the previous year’s performance and therefore knew what was coming, but more people were crying this year. This year felt a lot more fast paced, so everything happened faster and there were more intense moments, and I guess it was more than likely mostly Uchiha fans in the audience, which probably had something to do with it, but still, I think this audience was more involved than last year’s was.
There were some people waiting for the actors to leave (so they could wave them off in their taxis) but security practically pushed me out. Considering they weren’t doing the same to anyone else, I do feel it was race motivated – maybe they thought I wouldn’t fight back due to lacking Japanese, or something? Either way it was hella rude as I was getting my phone, train pass etc out of my bag and everyone was pretty far from where the taxis were going to be driving anyway. If someone spends 7000 yen on a ticket and then more than that on goods and preorders the bluray, while I don’t necessarily want respect, I think the least I deserve, the least type of customer service I should receive, is not being shoved.
I’d recommend the stage performances regardless. Seeing them live is so much more fun than watching them on a dvd! Obviously it isn’t realistic for everyone to do that, but try to at least support the official release in some way.

tfw aaaaaauugghhhhh, honestly
suddenly feel like I’m facing three fairly major decisions at once with no clear side to take
- should I re-enter the mental health peer work programme I got half way through then burnt out of last year? they just contacted me to invite me back but I don’t know if i could manage it or if it’s compatible with our plans to leave london, expand our family, etc. and now I suddenly have to decide by may 8th
- wtf should I do about my parents? stick up for myself, be assertive, and explicitly instate a period of no contact? or avoid and ignore and just limit communication without taking a stand? I’m so scared and anxious about this I can’t begin to describe it. My inner conflict is higher than with any other issue in my entire life, for obvious childhood complex trauma reasons!
- less gravely, but still weighing on my mind and making me anxious, should I go back on facebook? I don’t miss it and don’t regret leaving it at all, however there’s still a total dearth of alternatives when it comes to semi-passively keeping in touch with specific people/groups in my life. I want to be able to interact casually, as my spouse has just started doing, with my other partner’s mum. also maybe with some of my own extended family (especially if I remove my parents from the picture). and I could do with increasing my social interaction with choir - currently I’m the weirdo who never socialises, since some of my original choir buddies have left. On the other hand I seriously do not want it to monopolise my online habits or encroach on my me-time, have constant guilt & FOMO because of events I don’t have the spoons or money to attend, feel obliged to keep in touch with - or even worse be tempted to lurk and check up on - dozens of people I never see, and I absolutely do not want to use it as a source of news or a place for politics or discourse because that’s just fucking overwhelming and could eat up way too much time & energy. And that’s not even considering the privacy/advertising/corporate downsides. I mean. That’s a lot of reasons why FB is worth keeping away from, right? I just wish there was an alternative for my relatives and/or choir and/or few closeish friends.
I kinda really dislike the concept of existing in the world as a social object tbh. I love relationships and I love individual humans and I love feeling able to share my real self and I love integrated interconnected family-style groupings and I love honest, generous, expansive love and I love real connection, but I just can’t DO ~socialising~! casual interaction/small talk/‘making conversation’ fills me with visceral dread and instantly has me out of my depth. the entire mechanism of going stranger –> acquaintance –> friend (–>possible circle of friends) is just????!??? a fucking??!!?!?!?? MYSTERY??!?!??? to me? I’ve literally never managed to do it. and I basically feel like an asocial alien freak at all times. so.
it’s incredibly frustrating and is one of the main focuses of my current long-term therapy yet still a massive fucking problem that is completely lagging behind other areas of my emotional healing :( (incidentally, this - the fact my ability to socialise in a vaguely normative/NT way has not remotely improved whilst most other aspects of my mental illness have - is partly why there’s reason to suspect I’ve had an underlying autism spectrum condition all along -plus- complex trauma on top, rather than the alternative of early complex trauma alone managing to -mimic- a developmental disorder. I mean, you’d think after over a decade of various interpersonal therapies I wouldn’t still declare in anguish that I feel like an asocial alien freak at all times, right? yet here we are.)
I actually feel a lot of contentment when I don’t hold myself to NT standards of socialising. maybe I should just keep doing that. but at the same time I know I’m a wonderful, unique, interesting person with a lot of warmth and love to give, who has grown and healed immensely throughout their adult life to a place of exceptional - and ever improving - emotional awareness and relationship skills, so surely I should be able to form rewarding connections with awesome people I meet, at least some of the time? But no, it still requires a secure attachment bond/love or sex being involved somehow/using existing people I’m attached to as a bridge :/
I could say 'the fuck is wrong with me??😩’ but it’s hardly a mystery. a duo of complex trauma disorders that kicked off with disorganised attachment & developmental trauma - possibly with preexisting autism as a substrate - that have expressed themselves with many avoidant traits… yep. that. that’s what’s wrong with me.

𝔉𝔬𝔩𝔩𝔬𝔴 𝔣𝔬𝔯𝔢𝔳𝔢𝔯
Welp, it’s been one whole year since I started this blog and started rping. Although I’ve made four other blogs too in that time none of them got close to being as active as Dragon, mostly because only Dragon’s muse is constant for me. I have here most followers, most interactions and quite embarrassingly most posts, and you do not want to know how many of them are, really.
There have been some downs, I admit, but none of them were huge. I still crave for more interactions but I’m starting to realize that having someone like Dragon as a muse is limiting my chances for them immensely. Which sucks. It’s also because I’m slightly picky but shhh.
Despite everything I love this fandom, I love rping and I love the people I’ve met here. I was planning on doing this once I reached my 500 milestone but with how the things are going it’ll never happen. So instead of 500, I’m doing this at 380+. At first I’m giving few honourable mentions to some people who I’m significantly grateful to and then list some mutuals and people I just cannot forget and whom have made this year unbeliavable. Honestly when I joined the fandom I didn’t believe I’d stick out for this long and I hope I’ll never leave because this community is amazing. I love all my followers and mutuals and I thank you for sticking around~
Under the cut so I don’t clutter the dash.
@mindaxsassin
REB. YOU FLUFFBALL YOU. You were the first real friend I made here. In fact, you were my first online friend. And you were the first to whom I properly talked?? AND Akita was the first proper relationship for my Dragon and I do not have the words to thank you for that. Our first thread is the first (and also remains the only *sweats*) long one that I actually got to finish. I was honestly relieved that someone cares about the revolutionaries and Dragon as much as I do?? Before joining the fandom I hadn’t really seen anyone else being as passionate about them as me and it deeply saddened me. You don’t know how much I appreciate meeting you. You REALLY need to properly come back to the fandom. Leave Naruto plzzzzzz we neeed youuuu. No, just kidding, but seriously. We need you. Dragon misses his niece though he won’t ever admit it.
@alabasti
RAYYYYYY. THANK YOU AGAIN FOR THE THEME IT’S SUPER PERF I CANNOT REPAY YOU IN ANY WAY *SOBS*. You are so precious Idk what to do. I love how we can talk so easily?? And we didn’t even really work for it, it just came naturally I have no idea what happened. We’re both so dedicated and passionate about our muses I just want to thank you for everything. And especially for making Iris. I’m still crying about that tbh. I had honestly thought that until Luffy’s mother gets revealed in canon I wouldn’t get the chance to write with one, especially not bond in such a deep and amazing level and boyyyyy was I wrong. And with the way the canon is going my Dragon is gonna go canon divergent anyway and honestly I’ll keep Iris no matter what. She’s too perf and so are you and you gotta know it.
@shiapolux
Paula my sweet summer child and sinister AU Hell companion what am I gonna do with you. You’re more amazing and funny and witty than you can ever comprehend. Shia is such a well rounded and developed OC I cry. I admit at first when you followed me I saw no interaction material but I’m thousand times glad I rechecked because I was so wrong. I think it was something of a?? You posting something about someone being interested in interacting with Shia in revo verse maybe? And before that I hadn’t even really noticed that you could have one despite reading your bio at the time but?? I’m glad I noticed it in the end because without it we would have never started talking, not to mention our legacy the myth AU wouldn’t have been born. And that was only the start for now we have??? Ten?? AUs plus the canon verse that we neeeeeed to get going somehow, and I’m not sorry because mostly it’s my fault. Though you agree to them so welp, you reap what you sow. I’LL NEVER LET YOU LEAVE THE VOID THO.
@spottedsoftpaws
Cid my dear dear partner-in-crime. I have dragged you to the AU Hell too. #NoRegrets. I had been stalking you from afar for months before that shipping meme you reblogged and ohman did that give birth to stuff. I had never really even considered this ship - okay I had, but that was like, days/weeks/Idr prior to the meme - but here we are, hardcore shipping these two. It’s funny tho because they prob never will really be together together but. We can always dream and we have other verses. In fact, we have 13 plus canon. (WHAT, WE HAVE MORE AUS THAN ME AND PAULA WTF). And I do not regret pulling Zuhal and Basma from gathering dust on your shelf either because they need love. I also love how we’re pulling polyships left and right with Paula. It’s also shocking how well our porn fit together. It was meant to be~ Seriously tho, you make the day always a little bit brighter and I thank you for that. Never change.
@sabakunoo
Julieeeeeeee I have a confession to make. I have shipped CrocxDragon for two years. I was never awfully passionate about it though because I knew it wasn’t possible for real but when I began rping there was this smaaaall hope that maybe. It died down after a month and then I forgot about it altogether until that one damn meme reply you did. It actually really shocked me because I had no idea your Croc functioned like that. But I’m happy that it did. It’s weird though because I’m not gonna have a tag for these two because it’s not romantic. First one on the blog, tbh. Your headcanons about Crocodile and his relations to the Army opened my eyes and I’ve made them canon for my Dragon, just so you know~. You’re the best Crocodile I’ve seen and honestly it makes me slightly timid to reply to our threads because I just cannot write as well with as much knowledge as you do. *sweats* You’re a joy on the dash though so keep it up.
@saboners
Cher you sweetie I cannot believe we don’t talk more. You are one of the most warmhearted people I’ve met and your asks are always more appreciated than you might realize because who wouldn’t love random asks. You’ve been following me since the very very very start and as such I’m eternally grateful to you. I must also thank you and credit you for the greatness that is Mr. Squawkers of which origin I specifically searched for this occasion. So if anyone is ever confused about the source of my crack tag, there it is in all its feathery glory. May the squawking never die. And may you never leave this fandom because we all love you.
@benn-beckman, @scarlethaki, @gratixsa, @chillin-at-partys-bar, @solxangelica, @devilslcg, @1chijirexu, @askku-chan, @themostfreedom, @sunawxni, @thelithiumprojectlm, @shukkou, @kaizcku, @thatchtheawesomecook, @blackcxge, @rubberbastard, @beastyhound, @notarealflamingo, @armisxmultis, @elusvepirate, @venixvidivici, @xredeyes, @thorough-justice.
Thank you all for the amazing year~

TH!FPA_VB – Lord of Lies and Deceiving
Yo, been a while since I posted something on this account, but here we are, back at it again with a casual VB drawing like in good ol’ 2020
…Though, this time things got built on a different road of events as you can see, not to mention this is a spoiler to what’s to come for VB (but tbh I stopped caring at this point so yea)
First and for most however, there are quite a few questions surrounding this fic’s development I have to answer for our sake (mostly mine since I feel like mold spaghetti for not keeping up on things oml-)
Yes, I once said VB was on the way of getting completed and all that, I know
Problem is, the changes I want to do to the ‘lore’ (if you want to call it that way idk) are also retroactive to the events in the present timeline (aka past events that are mentioned but not entirely shown because ugh-), some characters that have some relevancy on the story but only come up at the very end chapters on VB itself, etc. etc. which are things that I personally find bothersome as its writer and the reason why I’d rather not make the ‘sequel-prequel’ of it where things get explained and all that
Instead, I’ll fuse both VB and TAF (the sequel-prequel’s name acronym standing for ‘The ‘ANOMALY’ files’ fyi) so it can focus on one party alone and I don’t waste any more time than what I already have done so (haha funny cuz me late to party amiriteeeimsorry-)
…And about the format for it, I’ve decided I’ll ‘upgrade’ it to a comic instead since y’know, I do art and it’ll also make my writing simpler so yea
Still tho, I’m kinda paranoic on if I should get going with the prologue by the time I finish its script or not since I don’t wanna make the plot a mess or leave things (important* things) unfolded by accident, but we’ll see how it goes (and hopefully I’ll make it out alive-)
Also, keep in mind that by the moment I’m writing this, I’m stuck in the Friday Night Fuc- I mean Funkin’ fandom, and y’all know what happens when the fandom switching happens…
My concept-creation-obssessive-self starts grinding gears like cuckoo -doesn’t mean I’ll abandon everyone else tho, it’s just that my focus splits on multiple parts and all that balloney
So, now that I did my little defense statement up there, let’s get rolling to the mainpoint down here
First, who’s this spider guy?
Well, he’s a ‘side’ antagonist, more specifically the person DPM is after (but doesn’t realize he is until very later)
His name is Q-Ross Sid, a ‘camel spider’ that lives in the Spider Kingdom as the royal executioner and prison head-guard/-caretaker
He’s what I’d consider to be an ‘anomaly’, since he’s a genetic fusion of graphite (20%), chalk (10%) and correcting fluid (70%), with the graphite being his ‘stabilizer’ component (osseous structure and skin/muscular tissue mostly) and the chalk his ‘cooler’ component (mostly on his defense and assimilation mechanism), not to mention he can only consume either correcting fluid matter derivatives…and/or ink matter derivatives, including living beings (mostly as an energy source and which his body somehow can partially convert into graphite)
…And by that fact alone you can tell that yes, he killed Isea -also known as Dizzy/Izzy Pants Girl (YESss I fINALLY GAVE HER A NICK ASDFGH-) in VB mostly due to her ‘special ability’ and stuff- by Queen Aris’ command. And yes, he can shapeshift, which explains why he got DPM to blame FPM for what happened, this that (but I think you might have figure it out already by the drawing alone so yea-)
However, although at first I thought his ability would be limited to mimick FPM’s appearance only, I now decided to amplify it a little, and instead he can shapeshift into any sketch/graphite-alike/related being, with FPM being his ‘link’ to them most of the time (stalkey tatics are not okey dokey my man but you do you I guess)
Though he can only shapeshift into stickfigs since he doesn’t have that much of ‘color filling’ for a human drawing itself (yeah ik they’re humanized in the story but things will make sense sooner or later I promise, for now just bear with me as we go on on this plz), and he cannot shapeshift into ink/liquid-alike/related beings because they’re not compatible and it’ll only lead him to corrupt his physical form –not meaning he can’t recover from it tho
But he can’t replicate them entirely, as his eyes and the ring are the two main red flags to spot him (but with some contact lenses and a little pocket, it can be fixed y’know-)
As for his robotic arm, it was after a fight that I’ll rather not explain due to not being that relevant; and even thought doctors refused to give him a prosthesis at first since he could simply let it rebuild naturally (yes he can regen too, but in a slower phase bc reasons), he got it anyways due to the fact limbs regen take way longer than physic injuries and/or internal damage (some even assumed that they probably wouldn’t actually regen anyway), which can be a bother on his job most of the time…and maybe out of spite too –he wanna look tough, yo-
Fun fact, during the hype I got from making this bad boi, I ended up attaching him to grandson’s song called ‘Blood/Water’ due to the lyrics kinda resembling his defamatory actions towards FPM (and also his wild and sometimes desperate hunger towards ink beings, yikes)
Second, what’s VB’s main plotline now and why did I expand it?
To resume it in the ‘signature phrase’ I made for the new version (which was also inspired on MARETU’s ‘Magical Doctor’ song –mandoilovethisvocaloidsongcomposerasdfgh)
**THIS WASN’T MEANT TO HAPPEN**
Venomous Bittersweet (which I’ll rename in the future due to the fusion with TAF) started off with a simple plot -FPM going on a mission for himself to get cured from a spider bite he got all of a sudden, but failing in the process (bc plot convenience idk) and CPG is the one who goes to his rescue instead while showing off the things she learned from him, this that, wholesome ending blah blah blah- you know the drill if you read it to end.
But by the moment I began making those little ‘inside stories’ –specially DPM’s backstory explaining why he became so reckless and outgoing- I started to extent myself on how things worked on this AU, even how drawings come to life (ik it’s weird but that’s how I though it to be so ff-), and by such I felt the urge to give almost everything a background story, such as Aris’ reason to kidnap and take control over FPM’s body and mind (and maybe his soul too oops-), the Spider Kingdom’s origin and even the portals and ‘reality deterioration’ in SFPA, passing by DPM’s origins and stuff.
And even if I felt like hitting walls and taking things a little too in-depth most times, I think it did bring some good things for the new plotline I’m going for now
So, in the new story, all the weird, whacky (and disturbing) things that happen after SFPA and during OG VB plotline came by what I’d express as some sort of ‘time-space anomaly’ that made everything slightly unstable on the ‘other side’ of the studio (I won’t explain too much my brain is about to boil rn so take that as you will for now tysm), having a passive (but not unnoticeable) effect on the sketchbooks.
I can’t give much context why, how or where did the anomaly came to be exactly (you can make theories if you like, I’d love to read them 4real <3), but it’s main purpose is to take control over all existing worlds just to corrupt them to its will, to the point there is basically nothing left but despair and desolation to which all entities will be forced to endure and all that edgy jazz.
…And by that, the ‘anomaly’ will create incompatible matter amalgams –ink and graphite being the most coming-to-mind example in the story so far- in order to conquer all the sketchbooks, but as a consequence of this ‘anomaly’s’ arise, new worlds came to be fully developed (in other words, they finally exist as a whole), and with that, new ‘heroes’ are brought into the situation, each representing a type of artistic material alone –watercolor, oil paint, etc-, heroes with which FPM will encounter and interact with, as he’ll also help them in how to use their abilities to fight the baddies and stuff.
And because we need conflict to make things interesting, Q-Ross and DPM indirectly (but kinda) ‘team up’ to fabricate fake evidence and such in order to mess with FPM’s reputation towards the heroes by incriminating him and/or even mislead his actions (confusing wrong by right and vice versa, etc.) (because ink man is salty and corrector ass is a dick by nature –ofc), and even ocassionally with Q-Ross starting the job, just to get DPM to finish it; and sometimes they get the aforesaid characters to hold grudges –if it comes to succeed, or instead making them get more on his side by the same feeling of doubt –if they mess up on something, no matter the size.
As about his sickness, well, it also got a little twist.
We know that new worlds and material compositions come with new squiggle types, and even if ‘dust-related’ types don’t affect him for too long –chalk being the closest example I can bring up-, liquid or clayish matters, such as oil and crayon squiggles respectively, are toxic towards him, so in the way the more he interacts with incompatible squiggles, the more harmed his health condition gets, to the point it grips into the weakest part of his body –his core (I’ll later explain this just…let me get this out first plz), which limits him on doing most things he’s used to do normally.
…And well, the spider bite (which is also an abnormal matter amalgam times two, though I’ll keep it secret for now) was the last nail in the coffin on fucking him up entirely to a new level of corruption (damn is that a stretch I’m seeing-)
Long story short, this was also because I wanted ArPM to have a backstory that’s more than just ‘I’m evil nao bc me get poisond and mindcontrold by spoders out of spite hahahaha-’
Third (and lastly), who’s Ahetzo exactly and what’s his main purpose on the story?
This is a short one
In case you didn’t see my tweet on my Twitter account (here a linkie), this is a side character I made that’s supposed to be some kind of ‘spirit’ or something alike who’s the one in charge of the studio while ya dev boi is gone
In other words, he’s basically like Brad’s subconscious self (IK YIKES- YOU CAN HIT ME WITH THE CHAIR NOW I WON’T MIND-)
…and even though he tried to keep the anomaly thing contained as long as he could while figuring out how to disarm it or at least neutralize it (yes it was there way before, like during fpaw3 events or before so because AU logic lol), the more he tried to condense it, the more it multiplied itself until, well, y’know, shit blew up and everything just sdfghjk’d
And yes, he was the one who released the new worlds to keep the crazy stuff at range, this that
Oml my brain-
And before I finish here, I’d like to make a little ‘self-critic’ regarding my artwork here…and I gotta say, I’m really proud of it on most parts
As I began to retake on digital art lately –mostly due to my slight entering onto the FNF/partially NG communities and other things, I’ve been testing out new techniques and stuffs on GIMP 2 with the ‘routes’ tool and all that (that’s also why it looks almost symmetrical, but don’t fool urself it did took its time-), I even corrected some of the lines to make them sharp and fancy (haha funi joek im so quirkee-)
In here, I wanted to try mixing both solid and blurry shadows as well as replicating a ‘crystalish’ effect –as seen on Q-Ross’ eyes- and some line effects with the ink tool such as the liquid dripping out of Q’s mouth (yes that correcting fluid saliva now stfu-) and the graphite/correctfluid webs coming out of his clawtips/fingertips
And though I haven’t made an official palette for him, I think the colors I picked here suit him well enough in my own idea of such
Overall, I had fun making this, and I love how it came out
Still though, any criticism, opinion and commentary is welcome, both about my art piece and my little showcase over here
That’s all I got for now, see you all later on
K bai-
