Batfamily Shenanigans:Head-canons Pt: 3
Even though has vigilantes they Batfam drive several different vehicles, most of them don’t have a license or got it late. Steph,Cass,Duke, and Damian don’t have licenses. Dick,Tim, and Barbara have licensed, Jason has a fake license due to the fact he and Bruce were supposed to declare him not dead but both have forgotten and he just gets Barbara to update it if it expires.
Speaking of cars I feel like those that can drive have favorite or one specific vehicle that use.
Bruce drives an all grey Lamborghini or a red Porsche.
Dick has a older Porsche in green.
Barbara had a yellow buggy when she was younger but now she has a black SUV.
Tim usually takes one of Bruce’s Mercedes.
Jason has two motorcycles and a older impala he fixed up in his spare time.
Damian likes to paint his sisters nails, he finds it calming. Stephanie is his favorite, Cass only likes her nails painted sometimes not all the time and Babs picks at her nails when she’s stressed. Stephanie let’s him pick the color and the just sit in his room while he paints.
Bruce has a large collection of alcohol but he himself doesn’t drink.
Alfred has a notebook with a contact for each family member in case they won’t listen to him or needs help. Bruce has Clark, Dick has Wally, Jason has Roy, Tim has Conner, Damian has Jon, and Barbara has Dinah. If plan A fails he’ll call plan B for any of them. Diana.
Tim has Hypoglycemia.
Dick has the most tattoos. It’s only five and their all small.
Bruce can’t stand the smell of gasoline it reminds him of when he lost Jason.
Alfred will order pizza once a month. One to give him a break and two because no eats the same pizza so he has order everyone their own whole pizza. It goes as followed.
Bruce doesn’t really like pizza that much but he eat what kind Alfred orders him, Dick is a Hawaii pizza Guy pineapple and all, Jason likes Buffalo chicken pizza, Tim likes pepperoni, Damian of course gets vegetarian, Duke what pepperoni and nothing else, Stephanie like plain cheese, Cass likes Pepperoni and and black olives, Barbara likes Supreme, and Alfred doesn’t like pizza he likes the cheesy garlic bread or flatbread pizza.
Personally I think of Jason has either half Latino and Italian or Puerto Rican, Tim has Korean American.
In that same vein, I see the Batfamily in this height range: Jason is 6’2-6’3, Bruce is 6’2,Alfred is 6’1, Duke is 6’0, Dick is 5’11, Barbara is 5’10, Stephanie and Cassandra are 5’9,Tim is 5’8, Damian is 5’5.
Also, we all know Tim is Bi,Selina is Bi and Kate is a lesbian. I see the other Bats as different sexual orientation as well. Dick is Pan, Jason is Asexual, Stephanie is Pan, Cass and Damian are both Aromatic, Duke is straight, and Barbara is Bicurious but is comfortable to enough to appreciate beautiful women. Bruce is Bi and just doesn’t know it yet.
Cass is very good a tending to different hairstyles and textures. She braids Babs,Steph and Dick’s hair. She’s also helps Damian and Bruce with their hair due to over styling it putting to much product in their hair. She also cuts Dick’s hair when it gets to long and greasy.
Duke is very good baking and his sweets are high on everyone’s lists like Alfred.
Stephanie definitely is the Big Sister Damian always needed. She pranks him, teases him about his crushes, but she also leaves her apartment window unlocked for Damian to enter at anytime of the night when he feels overwhelmed and doesn’t want to go to Bludhaven. She takes him to his favorite art supply store in Gotham Heights, and even gifts him stuff for his next project.
Tim is definitely the lost child of Dick and Barbara. Even though the two aren’t together and have different relationships(another head cannon), Tim is pretty much their child of divorce. They both have check his location to make sure he’s not trying to burn down LexCorp, or if he hasn’t left is room for three days straight Tim might find it strange that all tech disabled except for his phone but it’s reprogrammed to only call Barbara and only then will she fix it devices. Dick will just randomly enter Tim’s office at Wayne Enterprises and will mess with his stuff while Tim’s on a zoom meeting. And once he’s done he will ask Tim what’s their plans for lunch.
Selina and Talia both will make random trips to Wayne Manor to check on their children. Selina has threatened Bruce’s life numerous times for shouting at Dick or Duke. Bruce has woken up in the middle of the night to a dagger drawn to his throat he knows it’s Talia and all she says is, “Don’t make me have to have this talk again beloved, I’d hate for poor Alfred to have to clean up your room.”
Tim and Damian both hate mint chocolate chip ice cream. Cass finds it enjoyable and will help eat their portions if she needs to.
Duke taught Damian how to play Spades, and in return Damian taught him to paint so he could paint his girlfriend a gift for their anniversary.

gruyere is my dad's favorite cheese! he's lowkey a junkie and eats like one pack per week lmao your opinion on gruyere and other cheese? (my new year resolution is trying more stuff ao feel free to recommend lol)
cheese is the only thing that france has done well along bread and butter!!! one thing i have noticed since i'm in poland is that they don't have much cheese but they especially don’t grated gruyère (which is a serious crime vjdhnbkjgdb) even the packed gruyere in french supermarkets are good and tasty even though they're not that great if you compare it to a real gruyère from a cheese shop
there's so many cheese that it's difficult to make a list without writing a whole ass dissertation so i guess get ready qvkjfdnfdkjnvfkdjnb
i personally prefer cow milk based cheese so my faves of all time mostly are cow milk based cheese:
Tête de Moine has been my favorite since I was little because you make funny curly heads with a machine!
Saint-Félicien because it’s creamy and comforting
Saint-Marcelin is similar to Saint-Félicien
Rocamadour also similar to the last two cheeses but it’s a little but smaller in size
Emmental is what we think gruyère is but it’s not. Emmental is a cheese with a lof of holes in it and it’s great and you can grate it on whatever you want and it will give it a little extra cheesy kick
Fontainebleau. I thought it was a dessert but apparently it’s a cheese. It’s basically crème fraiche but even more battered which gives it a whipped cream consistency. People eat it with fresh fruits but I prefer it with sugar! Apparently it’s a very specific and kinda secret recipe so you can’t find it everywhere
Munster but when it’s leaky and creamy and it smells like feet
Reblochon but you have cook it to make it extra better. My favorite recipe to do with a reblochon is a Tartiflette
Roquefort. It’s a little bit like gorgonzola or bleu and stronger. There’s fungus in it and it’s fantastic in a sauce
Comté / Beaufort are very very famous cheese in France that you can eat when they are at different age which will give them a fruity to strong taste
Raclette This should have its own section on its own because it’s so vast. Raclette is a whole ass dish as a whole. There’s also different type of raclette. The real/true Swiss method is to put half of a raclette cheese under a heating machine so it melts. In France (and Germany too), it’s more popular to have a big machine and everyone has their own little melting spatula. You have to make slices of raclette melt in your own little spatula and put in on your potato when it’s done. You also eat it with cured meet. Some people add pickles, tomatoes, mushrooms too. You can use different type of cheese when you do a raclette like this to diverse the thing. Popular ones are smoked raclette, wild garlic raclette, cumin raclette, truffle raclette, wild flowers raclette etc. Everyone eats their raclette differently which what makes it hilarious because I have coworker who just smashes everything together to make it some kind of insane pile lol. Along with fondue, it’s one of the only dish that you can have ‘together’ in France and it reminds me of the vibes you have when you eat Korean BBQ or hot pot
Gruyère/Fondue Iconic dish. You melt the gruyère and emmental with any type of alcohol. Most of the time it’s white wine but my friends and I tried it with beer and it’s fantastic. Like I said before it’s one of the only dish that you can ‘share’ in France. It’s an iconic dish in France as there’s a very popular movie called French Fried 2 aka Les Bronzés Font Du Ski where in a scene, someone pranks everyone when they put dental file in the fondue because it looks similar to the melted cheese and everyone is enraged by it haha
Halloumi is awesome if you want to replace meet or fish. I just cook it in a fry pan until it’s golden. I usually do it with potatoes for breakfast when I feel like it!
You probably know those because they are popular but I also like Brie, Camembert, Mozarella (when they are of good quality they’re fantastic), Parmesan
These other cheese are not my favorites but they’re also very good and worth trying if you’re into cheese:  Epoisses, Mont d’Or, Sainte Maure, Pont-l'Évêque, Maroilles, Cabecou, Cantal, Coulommiers, Crottin du Chavignol, Livarot, Mimolette, Morbier, Tomme de Savoie
Also worth mentioning: supermarket cheese. They’re def not the best cheese in the world but you might find them more easily and they have a nostalgic effect: Caprice des Dieux, Boursin, Leerdammer, Babybel (my favorite is the emmental one), La Vache Qui Rit aka. The Laughing Cow

this one's a more simple (in concept) one, so it's possible you've already done it 😅
besides the obvious (hbc and dr pepper), what do you think are some of saeyoung's favourite foods and drinks? maybe... top 3-5 for each? and if you have enough in mind, maybe separate food into like... "actual meals" and "desserts/treats"?
jdvdhsjs totally up to you, though! you can answer however you want :)
love ya!
[417]
also sorry if im sending too manyr jdvsjsn >_<
ALSO MAKE SURE YOU TAKE CARE OF UR LOVELY SELF. WATER, FOOD, REST, FUN STUFF, ETC!! 😠💖💞💕💞
OMG WAIT I’VE NEVER DONE THIS ONE BEFORE.
Thank you my dear, lovely friend. I just ate some soup! ♡♡♡
I like...sort of answered your question and sort of went on a tangent, heheheh~ Here are some of my thoughts about Saeyoung and food!
Desserts/treats
We know that Saeyoung likes sweet stuff (the HBC, of course, and the yummy fish-shaped bread). As far as traditional Korean desserts are concerned, I think he’d really like yakgwa—maybe a little less processed than what he’s used to, but honey-flavored and fried and tasty! I’m sure he’s never had it homemade before—I imagine making it for him for the first time and just seeing his beautiful eyes light up.
Besides that, he definitely likes mostly artificially-flavored things. It’s what he’s used to—it’s what’s easy—it’s what gives him little bursts of energy through the day and night, while he works. He absolutely loves candy—all kinds of sweet candies. Caramel? Definitely. Chocolate? For sure. Does he sometimes just eat icing out of the tube while he’s working? I...think so, yes.
And he definitely likes the combination of salty and sweet, because of those chips! And so I feel like he’s be really into caramel corn. And the kind that’s got cheesy popcorn and caramel popcorn all together, so you can eat both in one bite? He would absolutely love that.
Real meals
I have this theory, based purely on my own brain, that Saeyoung really likes the Korean egg toasts. They’re flavorful and salty and greasy—and easy to eat with one hand while working. They’re also commonly sold on the street, so it’s not something he’d have to make for himself. I can picture him discovering that he can go out and get them pretty easily, and then bring them back to eat while working (or like, while driving home). He really likes how they’re crunchy and cheesy and kind of like junk food. I’ve written MC making them for him...a couple times, I think...because I'm so into the idea of him tasting a home-made one and just being blown away.
So, Saeyoung went to college in America, right? I just...have this feeling that he likes American fried chicken. Like, not fancy fried chicken—I’m talking chicken tenders and stuff. He wants to get all the sauces and have a different one with each bite (I do this too). Again—it’s the salty-sweet thing. And it’s another easy food, too—he’s not exactly going out to restaurants or cooking, after all.
But there must be some things he likes that are more nourishing, too. I don’t think he’s had a chance to eat much healthy, home-cooked food in his life—certainly not as a child, or while training with the agency. Vanderwood cooks for him sometimes, but I imagine that’s simple stuff, too: eggs and sandwiches, not complex meals. But you can introduce him to more nutritious food! I think a lot (for some reason) about trying to get Saeyoung to eat vegetables—because I basically live on vegetables, and he’s definitely not used to eating them. I don’t think he’s ever going to tell you that any vegetable is his favorite food (unless potato chips count as a vegetable), but I have a theory that you could make some really tasty roasted broccoli and cauliflower and squash and carrots and stuff, with garlic and olive oil and some citrus—get it all crunchy and salty and flavorful—and he’d eat it. Perhaps begrudgingly...but we take what we can get.
He’s still prefer you fry them, though. Breaded, fried vegetables? Yum.

Love at First Bite
Rayla is taken by a client to eat at the Italian-Korean fusion place in town and falls in love with the food, and later, the chef.
-------------------------------------------------
Rayla smiled at her client as they waited for their server to come.  Her boss had told her that they had to keep the contract with the client’s company no matter what, and if that meant going to a Korean-Italian fusion restaurant that would probably be too spicy for Rayla’s Scottish, fried-food-loving taste buds, so be it.  The client, Ms. Danvers, had been hyping the restaurant up all evening.  “You said you like potatoes?  This place as amazing kimchi-style potatoes and potato pancakes.”
Rayla nodded.  “My grandmother is Irish and there are always potatoes cooking in her house.”  Rayla subtly looked around the dining room. The walls were mostly white with a few panels a beautiful red.  There was artwork on the walls, ranging from sceneries to portraits.  They all looked to be done by the same artist but Rayla couldn’t place a name to them.  The air was warm and smelled of spices and herbs and cheese.  Rayla could see a row of cheeses on one of the shelves.  “Do they use a lot of cheese here?”
“Korean food pairs wonderfully with cheese.  There’s a rumor that all the vegetables here are from the local farmer’s market as are most of the cheeses.  It’s fusion, but it’s as domestic as possible, too.”
“You’ve really been talking this place up.”
Ms. Danvers flushed.  “It’s my favorite restaurant.  I come here for lunch once a week and get take-away whenever I’m having a bad day.  This place is known for Korean-Italian fusion, but they make a delicious Thai laksa and a vegetarian Tom Yum that is to die for.”
“Really?”  Rayla didn’t know that much about Asian food, but she knew that Tom Yum was common in Thai eateries.
“The chef is a quarter-Thai and a quarter-Korean, his grandparents being from Thailand and South Korea.  He knows the flavors well and plays with them, but when he goes authentic, he’s the best in town.  He will also make almost any dish vegetarian if you request it.”
“How accommodating.”
A server came up, a smile on their face.  “Good evening and welcome to Sarai’s Place.  Any wine to start this evening?”  Rayla shook her head, surprised when Ms. Danvers asked for Thai iced tea for the both of them.  “And what can I get started for you?”
“Ms. Burrows?”
Rayla looked down at the menu again.  “Hmm.  I’m not sure what to get.  I don’t have a very high spice tolerance.”
The server nodded.  “Scale of 1 to 10?”
“Maybe a three.”
“Do you like kimchi?”
“Never had it.”
“Then I recommend trying the kimchi potatoes, if you like potatoes, or the risotto, which features chopped kimchi, sesame oil, and garlic.  The chef makes two kinds of kimchi, one mild and one spicy, so he’ll use the mild for you.  For the main dish, if you enjoy cheese, a pasta dish that has mussels, a Korean chili paste and tomato sauce, and fresh parmesan.  Everything that can be local, is local and if you eat vegetarian, the mussels will be taken out and instead you will get mushrooms.”
“My grandmother is Irish so I’m very snobbish with my potatoes.”
“I would rate his potato pancakes a ten.  He takes the traditional Korean recipe and adds parmesan cheese and some rosemary and its cooked with the house chili oil, so when you cut into it, it’s cheesy and subtly spicy.  The house chili oil is made with both gochugaru and the type of dried chilis usually used to make olio di peperocino.”
“I’ll go with the pancakes and the mussels pasta you suggested.”
“Excellent choice.  And for you?”
Ms. Danvers smiled.  “Did he make Tom Yum or laksa today?”
“Laksa.”
“I will take a bowl of laksa while Ms. Burrows is eating her pancakes and I will also take the mussels pasta.  Can we also get an order of garlic bread?”
“Of course.  I’ll get your Thai iced teas ready.  Anything else today?”
“What’s the dessert of the week?”
“Since it’s summer, mango pudding, Thai coconut pudding, and strawberry-lime cheesecake.”
“We’ll each take a slice of the strawberry-lime cheesecake.”  The server nodded and walked away after reading back the list.  “I hope you don’t mind me ordering dessert for you, but he only makes that cheesecake when the strawberries are in their peak season and it’s worth it.”
Rayla nodded.  “No problem, Ms. Danvers.  I wouldn’t really know what to order otherwise.”
They chatted while they waited, pausing when the garlic bread came to the table.  Rayla had been expecting the kind of garlic bread Americans seemed to adore, buttery and almost artificially garlic-y.  Instead, they got small, fresh loaves that had pieces of roasted garlic and thyme baked into it, served with the house chili oil and garlic that had been cooked until it spread like butter on the bread.  Rayla was impressed with the flavor and how the pieces of garlic were not overpowering.
When the potato pancakes came, Rayla could smell the spice but trusted the server had not led her astray, eyeing her glass of Thai iced tea just in case.  One bite and she was in heaven.  The cheese and the heat from the chili only enhanced the potato flavor as did the light smattering of soy sauce and vinegar-based sauce.  Rayla almost ignored Ms. Danvers when the pasta came, inhaling the dish.  At the end of the meal, once the excellent cheesecake had been finished, Rayla was in love with the food.  “Well, Ms. Danvers, I suppose I should be thanking you for introducing me to my new favorite restaurant.”
Ms. Danvers chuckled.  “It’s good, isn’t it?”
“I would marry the chef in a heartbeat if I got to eat like this every day for the rest of my life.”
-----------------------------
Rayla brought all her clients and her coworkers to Sarai’s Place in the following months.  She tried almost everything on the menu, though she was still mildly terrified of the spiciness of the laksa if the smell alone was anything to go by.  Every Monday and Thursday, she got take-away and ordered the dessert whenever she ate in on Saturdays.  She was thankful she was single or else she would have to come here every week with someone and she liked dining alone in the quiet restaurant.
Sometimes, they played classical music, other times K-pop, and Rayla would always remember the night they had played an opera medley when several people with the Katolis Opera Company had dined that night.  The chef seemed keenly aware of who came to his restaurants at what dates and times and played music to fit their tastes but also made sense with the theme.
It was a popular spot with not only Foodies and high school kids, but a lot of Asian-Americans dined there.  Rayla had looked up the reviews and had seen it was highly recommended by the Katolis Korean and Thai communities, the Katolis restaurant circles, and the Commission for the Promotion of Local Ingredients and Farmer’s Markets.  No one said anything bad about Sarai’s Place without at least ten people defending the restaurant’s choices.
And now Rayla was sitting with her boss, Ahling Patel, and having to stop herself from inhaling the food in front of her.  The risotto was so satisfying and paired with chicken breast stuffed with kimchi, perilla, and ricotta.  “What do you think, Mr. Ahling?”
“It’s delicious.  I’ve always felt that fusion was a gimmick, but I’m sold by this young man’s food.  Young lady,” Ahling called the server, smiling good-naturedly when she nodded at him and finished up with her current customer.  When she came up to their table, she greeted them again.  “Is there anyway we can speak to the chef?”
The server blinked before nodding.  “I’m sure I can arrange it.  Dinner service is almost over and there are only you and two other tables.  Can I bring you dessert while I’m talking to him?”
“What do you recommend?”
“Our pastry chef made yakgwa, which are little honey pastries made with pine nuts, ginger, and sesame oil and they also made a yuja polenta cake and a play on Italian lemon cake, but with yuja.”
Rayla ordered the yakgwa and Ahling got the polenta cake and waited for the news.  Rayla couldn’t recall having ever seen the chef even though she came there at least twice a week, closer to three.  She hadn’t seen any pictures of him, either, surprisingly enough.  He was said to keep to himself and shunned the limelight, which is why he never made TV appearances.
A few minutes later, it wasn’t their server, but a man who looked be about 26 arriving with their desserts.  His green eyes were striking, as were his cheekbones and sharp jawline.  He gave them both an awkward smile as Rayla noticed his ring finger was bare and didn’t seem to have a tan line.  Was this the chef?  His coat would seem to say so.  “Nice to meet you both.  I’m Callum Evans, the owner and executive chef here at Sarai’s Place.”
Ahling smiled.  “It’s nice to meet you, young man.  I’m Ahling Patel and this is my employee, Rayla Burrows.”  Rayla nodded her head in acknowledgement.  “Your food is delicious.  How on Earth do you even think of this?”
The young man flushed, looking down at his feet.  “Um, I’m not that special.  Many people before me found that Korean and Italian food go well together.  Most of my recipes are riffs on family recipes and all my Thai dishes are family recipes.  I was originally going to go traditional Korean or Thai but there were no fusion places in the area and I’m part Irish and German on top of being a quarter-Thai and a quarter-Korean.  It felt…right, I guess.  I’m mixed and grew up with a variety of food cultures in my house, so why not do fusion?  Korean and Italian just made the most sense, so…”  He looked embarrassed at the praise, rubbing the back of his neck.
Rayla leaned forward a bit.  “I’ve eaten here at least twice week for the past six months.  I can tell you, without a doubt, it’s my favorite place to eat.”
“Thank you.”
Ahling cleared his throat.  “Are you single, Mr. Evans?”
Callum flushed even deeper.  “Ah.  Yes.  Being a chef requires long hours and running a restraint requires even more.”
“You need a good partner to help you find balance in your life!”
Rayla remained quiet as she watched them talk.  The only thing going through her mind was ‘I’m going to marry this man for his food.  I’ll eat well for the rest of my life.’  She stayed when Ahling said good night and while the restaurant emptied out.  Callum stayed at the table, fidgeting under her gaze.  “Is there anything else I can help you with?”
“A date.”
Callum blinked.  “We have a sticky rice made with dates-”
“No.  A romantic excursion.  An outing.”
He gulped, looking her up and down.  “A date?  Really?”
“Yes.”
“Why?”
“Because I fell in love with your food almost immediately after I tasted it and would like the chance to know the man who cooks it.”
Callum blushed.  “OK.”  They exchanged info and Rayla smirked as she left with his number in her cellphone.  There was no way she would be letting this one go.
------------------------------------------
After four months of dating, Rayla could confidently say that she was now just as in love with Callum the man as she was with his cooking.  Learning that his restaurant was named after his mother who died when he was in high school had endeared him to her, as had the knowledge that all the art on the walls were his paintings.  Was there anything he couldn’t do?
They were currently in Callum’s kitchen, him developing a new recipe while Rayla took down notes for him.  Even on his days off, he was always thinking about what he would do next and Rayla admired his passion to his craft.  When he brought her up to try the dish, she groaned.  “I will marry this man if it’s the last thing I do,” she muttered.
“I can hear you, you know,” Callum chuckled.
Rayla raised a brow.  “Then why haven’t you accepted my proposal?”
“Because you proposed to my food?”
“I hardly see the difference.”  Callum laughed at her, shaking his head.  “Hey, move in with me.”
“We’ve been together for four months.”
“Is that a problem?  Too short?”
Callum stared at her.  “You’re serious.”
“I told you; I fully plan on marrying you to eat your cooking ‘til the day I die.”
“So, it’s my cooking you love?”
“When have I hidden this?”  Rayla reached for his hand, pulling him closer.  “I’m serious.  Move in with me.”
“Why?”
Rayla shrugged.  “I’m happy when we wake up next to each other.  I like the idea of coming home to you or you coming home to me.  I don’t like sleeping alone, and, for the past month, the two of us have been alternating sleeping at each other’s places and it doesn’t make sense to pay rent on two places when we could be happy together?”
“That and I’m the only person willing to put up with your stubborn ass.”
Rayla gave him a mock offended looking, giving his arm a playful smack.  “You love my stubborn ass.”
“I do.”  Callum leaned down and captured her lips, letting her taste the dish he had been working on for the past hour.  When they pulled apart, he looked down into her eyes with his bright green ones.  “I think I love you.”
“That’s good, because I think I love you, too.”
Rayla would take that for now.  And in two years, when she would be standing next to him in front of their new house, matching rings on their fingers, and a very pregnant belly, she would remind him that he had his food to thank for their relationship.  “I fell in love with your food first.”
“I’m glad you did, because you kept coming back.”
“Lucky you.”
“Lucky me.”

surveys by lets-make-surveys
1 - Who was the last person to knock on your door? Were they there to see you? Nina usually knocks briefly in the evening to let me know it’s time for dinner. Other than my ex in the past, I don’t let anyone stay in my room for long. Knocking and peeking into my room is enough.
2 - Have you left the house yet today? If not, do you have plans to leave the house later on? No, as it’s only 10 in the morning and I don’t really have a reason to be out somewhere this early. I might go out to buy presents for more relatives, but that’s only if I feel productive enough today. We’ll see.
3 - What’s your favourite brand of chocolate? What type of chocolate bar from that brand is your favourite? The older I get the more I feel like gagging from the idea of chocolate bars lol; they’re all just so sweet. These days my top three would be Hershey’s cookies and cream bar, Whittaker’s chocolate peanut butter bar, and Twix bars. I also love Reese’s, but they aren’t bars.
4 - Have you ever met someone in person who you first met on the internet? Do you have plans to do that anytime soon? Yes, I’ve done this before and I’ve recounted the stories on here multiple times. As for the second question, yeah I technically do? I’ve only met my workmates online so far, so I’m constantly looking forward to the opportunity to finally meet them all in real life.
5 - What was the last thing you used a blender for? I’ve never used a blender. We don’t even own a blender.
6 - Have you ever got into an argument with a stranger on social media? Do you remember what it was about? Yeah, but I don’t even remember what it was about anymore...I do know it was this year, and the person deleted the comment that I replied to not long after.
7 - When was the last time you cracked your joints? Is that something you do often? Now that you reminded me, I just did. I do it at least once a day, whenever my fingers start to feel tight and tense.
8 - What time is it right now? If you weren’t doing a survey, what else would you be doing right now? It is 1:52 PM. I’d be heading to the mall to buy more presents, but I don’t feel like getting out of bed yet. I’d also do embroidery, but my online orders are taking a while to arrive :( My online shopping app says I'll be getting them by Jan 3rd, but the shipping tracker says it’s already being shipped from China to here so I’m looking forward to receiving it this week. I hope that’s the case; otherwise it’ll miss the point of being my hobby this Christmas break.
9 - If you had ten minutes to run around an empty supermarket and fill your trolley for free, what’s the first aisle you’d go for? The fancy meat/fish section. Then I’d go to the condiments/spice section, then frozen food, then chips.
10 - Aside from Tumblr, what websites do you visit the most and why? YouTube, because I find videos a soothing distraction; Twitter to keep me updated on local and international news; Reddit for quirky posts; and Wikipedia so I can continue learning trivia I’ll never have to use but want to gain anyway.
11 - Has COVID had any impact on your Christmas plans this year? What’s going to change or be different to normal? My dad is home for Christmas this year, which is one silver lining from Covid. But my relatives living abroad who usually fly back to the Philippines for the holidays obviously won’t be able to this year, so we’re not gonna have a packed family reunion like we normally do. Everything else is the same, but I think the biggest thing about this whole thing is that I can barely feel Christmas coming this year. I think it’s going to feel like such a plain Friday this week; and that makes me a little sad.
12 - What’s your favourite flavour of cake? Are you any good at making that kind of cake? My favorite flavor is chocolate, but my favorite kind of cake (which I enjoy a lot more than general chocolate cake) is cheesecake. I cannot make either, nor can I bake at all.
13 - Do you prefer sweet or sour candy? Sweet. I hate any sour foods with a passion lol especially sour candy; it is my absolute least favorite taste. I don’t find anything enjoyable or fulfilling about it.
14 - What colour is your favourite fruit? Is this a fruit you eat often? Already made my feelings for fruit clear on this blog, haha.
15 - Is your favourite restaurant an independent place or a chain? What is it that you love about it so much? It’s a chain, like most popular restaurants here. Independent places are a little hard to come by, to be honest. They make the best katsu I’ve ever had; and I also like that despite being a chain restaurant, the ambience is still quite sophisticated and date-friendly so I always feel like I’m treating myself whenever I eat there.
16 - Are you genuinely a fan of Starbucks or do you think it’s all hype? I personally enjoy everything about Starbucks. I like their coffees, their Frappes, the ambience in their coffee shops, their playlists, and their line-up of mugs and tumblers. I’ve always felt right at home in their shops and out of all the cafés I’ve been to, it’s always their baristas that have been the nicest.
17 - Do you own a Christmas jumper? What design/pattern does it have on it? No, I don’t.
18 - What’s your favourite fit/style of jeans? I was obsessed with mom jeans throughout 2020.
19 - What was the last non-essential item you spent money on? Overpriced coffee and a sandwich.
20 - Are you currently under any COVID-related restrictions where you live? Are people generally following the rules? Public places are super strict with requiring everyone to wear a face shield and face mask; before entering any establishment, people’s temperatures are taken and everyone’s also required to take a contact tracing form. Anyone under the age of 21 still isn’t allowed to go out for the most part, though I think there are some exceptions now because I see kids younger than me already going on out-of-town trips again. Some places that are big on tourism like Sagada, Batanes, and Baguio are still closed off from the public; those that have since reopened, like Boracay, follow strict protocol and everyone going there is required to undergo a swab test. Everyday Filipinos follow the rules; it’s the politicians and police force who don’t, which feels disgusting to say.
21 - What did you last leave the room you’re in to do? A package arrived for me so I had to pay for it. It was the phone case I ordered for my cousin.
22 - Have you ever read any self-help books? Did you find them useful? No. I don’t really believe in that genre, so I never felt pulled to buy a book.
23 - What’s your favourite programme on the Food Network (if you watch it)? If you don’t get that channel, what’s your favourite food/cookery show in general? All things Gordon Ramsay, man. MasterChef, Hell’s Kitchen, and Kitchen Nightmares are all *chef’s kiss* The Great British Bake Off is also great and something I like watching when I want to wind down :)
24 - Do you still watch cartoons? From time to time.
25 - Who do you know with the most number of siblings? Would you ever want to live in a huge family? My grandpa was one of nine siblings, if I’m not mistaken. I’m not sure if I know a bigger set than that. Unless my family was filthy rich, I would not want to have such a big immediate family.
26 - Are you a fan of garlic bread? Sure. I tend to ask for others’ too, heh.
27 - Do you own any personalised clothing? What’s the reason for getting it? No, not a fan. Two years ago we had a huge family reunion on my dad’s side and we had to wear these cheesy shirts that said “[Last Name] Reunion” with some cheesy motto at the bottom. My parents hated it, which made me feel better about my own feelings about the shirt lol.
28 - Is anyone else in the same room as you right now? What is that person up to? No, it’s just me here.
29 - What colours are you wearing right now? Does your wardrobe contain a lot of those colours? White, maroon, and scarlet. I have a lot of white and maroon; not so much of scarlet as I find the color too bold.
30 - Do you like adding condiments to your food? If so, what are some of your favourites? Yes. My food always needs to have soup, condiments, or sauces; otherwise I tend to feel the dish is too dry. I like mayonnaise, banana ketchup, hot sauce, and lechon sauce.
--
1 - What have you been up to so far today? Is that a typical thing for you to do on this particular day of the week? I’ve taken a couple of surveys and started binge-watching segments of my newest Korean reality show discovery, 2 Days 1 Night. The breakout actor from Start-Up and the newest love of my life HAHAHA is a cast member on the current season of 2D1N so I’ve been all over the show today. It’s hilarious; I can hardly believe I’m only discovering the show this late.
2 - Did you get a decent night’s sleep last night? How many hour’s sleep do you consider a decent amount? It was around five hours, which isn’t a lot to me. I usually sleep 7-9 hours these days, but I might wreck my body clock during the holiday break because I want to keep being awake and do the things I haven’t been able to do because of work.
3 - What is one silly thing that really gets on your nerves? Seeing pickles in a burger.
4 - Who was the last person you saw who wasn’t family? What did you guys end up doing together? The friendly Starbucks barista from yesterday; her name was Princess. We didn’t do anything lol, she just took my order and was super friendly about it, and she also gave me the Starbucks planner that I chose to redeem.
5 - Do you prefer hot or cold drinks overall? Cold. I avoid hot drinks now haha. Ever since I had that incident with the takoyaki, I’ve been too scared to let any hot food or drink touch my mouth.
6 - Do you own a decent set of waterproofs? If so, what do you use them for the most? If not, do you think that would be something you’d find useful? I don’t know what this is referring to, and I’m too lazy to Google right now. I’ve only ever known this word as an adjective, whoops.
7 - Do you have any plans for the rest of the day? Take more surveys, and maybe have another cup of coffee. I’ll also have to get started on a daily report I submit for work every weekday morning so that my load will be lighter tomorrow. Our office is technically on shutdown until January 4th, but some clients require a daily report every day and I’ll have to shoulder that with another co-associate. It sucks, but at least it’s the only thing I’ll have to do for the next two weeks.
8 - How often do you get your hair cut? When hairdressers were closed due to COVID, did you try cutting it yourself at home? I only go to the salon once a year, and I already did it this 2020 when I chopped off my hair and got bangs. Yeah, whenever my bangs start to get too long I either ask my mom to trim them or I do so myself.
9 - What did you wear the last time you left the house? Is that different to what you’re wearing at the moment? I walked Cooper half an hour ago and I just stayed in the same clothes I’ve been in all day, which was a tank top underneath an oversized hoodie and a pair of shorts.
10 - Would you rather have a relaxing beach holiday or a more active holiday in the mountains? The beach would be perfect right now, but I think my answer changes every time this is asked and I’m pretty sure I picked mountains the last time HAHAHA. I just realized being in the mountains would give me the same cooped-up feeling I’ve been having from staying at home for such a long time, and it might not be the best and healthiest trip for me...the beach definitely sounds more freeing and therapeutic.
11 - Do you know how to tie a tie? Nah, never learned. I’ve never been good at tying anything up, period.
12 - How old were you when you first had a sleepover at someone’s house? Did you miss home? I was 15 or 16; I’m not entirely sure anymore. Not at all, I was so excited to have been allowed to go to my first sleepover.
13 - How often do you spend time with your extended family? Under normal circumstances, we’d visit my grandma and cousins on my mom’s side once every few months or so. It was pretty regular since they’re just a stone’s throw away. But obviously we’ve since had to drastically cut our get-togethers back, and I’ve only seen them around three times since the beginning of the year. My dad’s family lives pretty far south, so I only get to see them once or twice a year even in pre-Covid days; not much of a difference there.
14 - When you get up in the morning, do you have a set routine? No. I just wake up feeling dread and have no choice but to wait for the weight in my chest to subside.
15 - Do you remember the last time you cried? Were they sad or happy tears? Yesterday in my car, in the mall parking lot. Sad tears.
16 - What do you have planned once you finish this survey? Look for another one. I misseddddd taking surveys and I plan on taking a crap ton of them this Christmas break. I may also be called for dinner, so there’s that.
17 - What was the last thing you cooked? Did you cook from scratch or just heat something up? I dunno if it counts as cooking, but I just made the DIY ramen kit that I received as a Christmas gift from the branch I was originally an intern at. Everything was already prepared in the kit and all I needed to do was boil water for the noodles and prepare the broth. Turned out surprisingly good.
18 - Are you a fan of hot chocolate? Do you like it plain or do you prefer to add things like whipped cream or marshmallows? I love hot chocolate and will order it sometimes, but given my aforementioned fear of hot beverages I always wait for it to considerably cool down hahaha. I like my hot chocolate plain.
19 - What caused your last injury? Cooper’s nails.
20 - How many tattoos and piercings do you have? Do any of them have an interesting story behind them? Just a piercing on each of my earlobes. No interesting stories...yet.
21 - What kind of flowers do you like the best? When was the last time someone bought those for you? I like peonies, though I’m not sure if my ex ever gave me a bouquet that included those.
22 - What’s the smallest thing you’ve ended a relationship over? I’ve only been with one person and I dated her twice, but I was never the one who ended the relationship either time so can’t really answer this.
23 - Would you rather order a starter (appetiser) or a dessert? Or would you be able to manage a full three courses? Three-course meal, pls. I’ve only experienced it once, when my parents treated me to dinner during my cruise gift for my 18th birthday; it was great and every dish was made amazingly well.
24 - How do you get most of your news, if you pay attention to it at all? I catch the evening news every weeknight because we keep the telvision turned on during dinner. I also get to read articles on social media.
25 - Have you or a member of your family been diagnosed with COVID yet? None that I know of, thankfully. It’s always been someone that a relative knows, but so far none of us have gotten it.
26 - Are you a vegetarian? If so, what persuaded you to stop eating meat? If not, is it something you’d ever consider? No. I have been considering it for years, but I truthfully don’t know if I could give up meat.
27 - Do you prefer rice or pasta? Rice.
28 - Is anything you’re wearing a gift? Who bought it for you? No.
29 - What’s the dominant colour in the room you’re in at the moment? I guess white, since my walls are white and that’s the first thing you see when entering my room.
30 - Did you do laundry yet today? If not, do you need to do any before you go to bed? Not my chore to do, but it was already done a few days ago.

Some tips from my friend @star-chasing on cooking and making meals as a Hellene disabled vegan:
~Use silicone stuff wherever possible since it's much easier to clean. Baking tray, dishes, bowls, cutlery, cooking utensils, cups, muffin tins, etc. They are also environmentally friendly.
~ If baking is not an option, especially for a small portion (though larger portions can be made as well.) and there is a microwave, then mug microwave dishes are a great option, both for sweet and savory meals.
~ Olive oil is not to be scared of, its a good source of nutrition. And if you can find flavored olive oil, especially in a spray bottle and it's not expensive, don't miss your chance cuz that's super easy flavor with less effort you don't need to use spices. Chili oil easy source of nutrition, having evoo (if possible) at hand along with frozen herbs such as parsley & basil, frozen onions & garlic makes it really easy to have flavorings for Hellenic cuisine. Don't forget dried oregano and dill, super important!
~ Veggies that require very little prep & can be eaten raw are tomatillos, mini cucumbers, carrots, and baby spinach. If cutting veggies & then washing the board & knife is a struggle then this is an option to make prepping salads easier. ~ if you're struggling to wash the dishes you can use Korean chopsticks to eat, much smaller & easier to clean surface, & unlike Japanese & Chinese chopsticks which are made of natural ingredients like bamboo, they are made of metal so they are much easier to clean.
~ A steamer is a great option for putting your entire meal in & just letting it cook, not just for recipes such as Chinese, but also using olive oil & fresh herbs can really make a great meal. (Extra virgin if possible) olive oil, (fresh if possible) lemon juice, salt, a vegan feta alternative, and toasted bread can make a great meal out of a lot of things. Other options to clean up less are parchment paper, there are types with holes or you can make them yourself with a perforater. Cheesecloth can also be used.
~ An easy fast way to not have to cook tofu; crumble and toss (& marinate if possible) firm tofu in a bowl, along with olive oil, water, oregano & salt. Other options are thyme, mildly flavored oil (eh but if that's all you have), a bit of lemon juice, nutritional yeast
~ Dakos is a great fast healthy meal, (& there are different options albeit non-authentic) barley rusks (any rusks or toasted whole-grain bread), cut tomato, olive oil, crumbled vegan feta (or any white vegan cheese). here's an example recipe here.
~Toothpicks & chopsticks are really easy to clean so just ignore any "you're supposed to eat this with a fork & knife" bs. If you don't have the spoons to cook and clean and or you have sensory issues & cooking & cleaning is a massive problem and tips like that might help you not go hungry and/or eat more, ignore conventions! Eating while using flatbreads is also a fantastic idea and there're a lot of places where this is done, but it doesn't have to be limited to say indian cuisine! Eating with your hands is also a-ok & choosing recipes like sandwiches instead of bowl dishes is a great idea. Or just bring out the ingredients for a sandwich dont even bother making it, i've seen this tip circulate and it's simplicity really is genious. Just make sure you eat, forget any and all suppose to's
~ If you cant cook pasta or wheat noodles use rice noodles, they only need to be immersed in boiled water for a few minutes, water which you can boil in a kettle. then they need to be rinsed in cold water but in rough days you cant be picky so skip this. Add cooked & flavored (canned) beans, & you can warm it up in a microwave. You can also add crumbled cheesy (see above) or flavored tofu, cheese shreds nutritional yeast nuts spices herbs soy sauce or any sauce whatever you like, etc. Can be made in a very nutritious meal. Flat wide noodles are ideal for this imo. Gluten free too
Thank you for the tips @star-chasing !

Japan Day 5
Last day of my group trip to Tokyo and we had to spend it in Shinjuku for those iconic skyline views. We decided to go to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building for a free panoramic view of the city. We arrived at the South Building at around 9:30am and had a pretty fast 30 minute wait to get up the elevator to the top floor.
Tumblr media
Gorgeous free views of the city plus tons of English signage, a cute gift shop, and a cute piano for people to play. Definitely worth a quick visit.
After exploring the building for a while we headed to Zauo for a quick lunch. The restaurant is known for allowing you the novelty of catching your own fish but unfortunately they don’t provide this service during weekday lunch so we had to settle for the normal menu. Luckily the food was still decent and we got to eat on a makeshift boat over a bunch of fish.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Once we were full we ended up heading to our next stop...but not before spotting a Korean hot dog stand where we just had to grab a hot dog to try for ourselves. It’s essentially a bit of sausage, a ton of mozzarella cheese, a bit of rice flour based breading, all covered in deep fried potatoes that you then add garlic/onion powder to and more parmesan cheese. It’s an absolutely magical experience.
Tumblr media
It’s diabetes on a stick but damn it’s worth it.
Now that we were ACTUALLY done eating for a bit, we continued our walk to Toho Cinemas for the 2pm Godzilla mini “show.” We passed through Omoide Yokocho and Kabukicho and snapped some pics. Neither area is super bustling on a weekday afternoon of course. Once you get to the cinema, head into the building and go to the 8th floor for the hotel/reception. Follow the signage and you’ll end up on the balcony with the giant Godzilla head. On the hour every hour (until sometime early evening) the head will spout mist and flash lights and it’s a fun little pit stop and picture opportunity.
Tumblr media
Just a quiet weekday afternoon stroll through piss alley.
Tumblr media
You bet your butt we took some dumb af pictures here.
Following our silly tourist pace, our next stop was Ninja Trick House just a few blocks away. This place looked like a total scam. It’s in a 4-floor walk up and the place looked over the top cheesy and a bit sketchy. But we made reservations based on my friend’s dad’s recommendation so we went through with it and honestly we had a blast. The experience is short and silly but we learned a few facts and the main host is absolutely hilarious. We couldn’t stop laughing the entire time. You learn some history, some very basic stuff about weapons, and even get to try your hand at a few. For $15, just the laughs were worth it.
Tumblr media
We almost couldn’t breathe from how much we laughed and enjoyed ourselves here. The host was definitely the highlight.
Unfortunately due to the weather (and our aching feet) our original plan didn’t quite pan out. Instead we stopped by a random spa due to a big ad for a cheap “Dr. Fish” treatment. I’ve never tried this before but my calloused feet needed a break so we walked in. We got about 20-30 mins of foot bath/fish skin-eating time for about $10. It tickled like heck but it was such a nice bit of downtime.
Tumblr media
My calloused feet and I were definitely popular with the fishies.
Now that we were invigorated, we finally headed over to Isetan Department Store where we practically ran to the depachika downstairs. This place is so massive they provide a map. There’s everything from groceries to fish to sweets here, it was overwhelming. We picked up a variety of desserts including some Financiers and Citron Cake from Noix de Beurre as well as some prepped food to take back to our hostel.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dinner at the ole hostel courtesy of Isetan Department Store. Everything was delicious and so well packaged (especially considering we were heading back during rush hour).
After that we were basically ready to turn in for the night. Did some packing and mentally prepared for departing the big city for a bit.

I had this korean cheesy garlic bread and I didn't liked it 😭
It's expensive. The cheese is bland and the garlic butter tasted bitter like it's overcooked.
