I like to imagine Kakashi, before his father died, was a literal terror to his teachers and the class when he first started the academy.

Kakashi has always had a bit of a trolling sense of humor. His first meeting with team 10 was basically him messing with them for the entire testing period (so 24 hours). He also has always found Naruto's knuckle headed personality endearing, and messing with Obito when they were kids was his pass time.

Let's also not forget the first time he meets Gai, he insults him and his papa to their faces, with no shame.

That's not to say he was a bully! Kakashi punching down on the weak is in no way in line with his character, and it also would not be fun for him.

But....he was an understimulated 5 year old, in a class where everyone was around 1 year older than him, who came from a VERY prestigious background, and was a natural prodigy...

So I think he definitely messed with his teachers in his spare time. Pulling pranks in the classroom, but never getting caught(but they all KNEW it was him, they just couldn't prove it!). Riling up Obito and then letting him unleash the energy on the class. Being a bit rude to the teachers to ruffle their feathers, but when they try to embarrass or shame him in front of the class, he would just turn it around to make himself look even cooler

Yeah... Kakashi was definitely an absolute MENACE to his teachers. The only thing which could make this better, is if Asuma was right there with him, ALSO being a menace and escaping all punishment by being "the son of the Hokage." (If Konohamaru had to deal with being in his grandpa's shadow, imagine how hard it was for Asuma to escape that shadow and be his own person...) the two teaming up to play pranks and be a little smug about it.

Just Kakashi being a bit bratty of a kid... until it all came crashing down...
