Kemet, Ancient Egypt: Ancient Egyptians called their homeland Kemet, meaning “black land.” It refers to the dark, fertile soil left behind after flooding from the Nile River... About 2,550 B.C., King Khufu, the second pharaoh of the fourth dynasty, commissioned the building of his tomb at Giza. Some Egyptologists believe it took 10 years just to build the ramp that leads from the Nile valley floor to the pyramid, and 20 years to construct the pyramid itself... It’s the year 2490 B.C. Wooden boats cruise along the Nile River in Egypt as thousands of workers stack giant stone blocks into a pyramid. This 200-foot-tall structure honors a pharaoh named Menkaure... The ancient Egyptians sometimes called their country Kemet. Wikipedia

The King's Chamber's design is not merely a simple burial chamber. Instead, it consists of a complex system of portcullises and granite leaves, which played a crucial role in safeguarding the pharaoh's legacy. The chamber's security features were designed to deter grave robbers and ensure the eternal security of the pharaoh's possessions.

A draconic Employer was growling at a giggly, purple one with swirling eyes, the former’s wings held out threateningly. “You’re supposed to be sealed, you bastard!”
“Hm, funny, I don’t seem to be in the Other Place!” The other one laughed.
Sirius blinked, Blueberry wrapped around his neck and sleeping. “...boy, I came back to Earth at a bad time, didn’t I?”

A 4,500-year-old Egyptian dress was painstakingly reassembled from approximately 7,000 beads found in an undisturbed tomb in Giza, Egypt. The dress is thought to have belonged to a female contemporary of King Khufu (2589-2566 BC). While the original strings had disintegrated over the years, the beads were still in their original position, allowing for an accurate reconstruction. Although the color of the beads had faded, they were originally blue and turquoise. Initially believed to have been worn for a dancing ritual, the dress's heavy weight suggests that it may have been used during funerals, according to archaeologists.

It is day no. 2 and today we go back a long way to the time of seafaring. This time the journey also takes us a little into the underworld - with Khufu's sun barque from c. 2500 B.C.

More about her below
Khufu's sun barque, c. 2500 B.C.
In 1954 the great sun barque of Khufu, ca. 2500 B.C., was discovered on the south side of the Pyramid of Khufu (Cheops), it was almost intact, although dismantled into 1224 parts, as was a second example. However, there is still no agreement about the purpose of these ships. One theory is that the body of the pharaoh Kheops was brought across the Nile and then buried with him. The other version is that the king made a pilgrimage with the ship and thus turned a means of transport into a holy relic. The most recent version is that Khufu did not use the boat, but a son and then laid it down as an offering to his father.
Khufu's ship is one of the oldest, largest and best-preserved vessels from antiquity. It measures 43.6 m (143 ft) long and 5.9 m (19.5 ft) wide. It was thus identified as the world's oldest intact ship and has been described as "a masterpiece of woodcraft" that could sail today if put into a lake, or a river

Deir el-Medina
Deir el-Medina is the modern Arabic name for the worker's village (now an archaeological site) which was home to the artisans and craftsmen of Thebes who built and decorated the royal tombs in the nearby Valley of the Kings and Valley of the Queens.
The ancient inhabitants called the village Pa Demi (“the village”) but it was referred to in official correspondence as Set-Ma'at (“The Place of Truth”) because the workers there were thought to be inspired by the gods in creating the eternal homes of the deceased kings and their families. Early in the Christian era the village, then deserted, was occupied by monks who took over the Temple of Hathor for use as a cloister. The temple was referred to as Deir el-Medina (“Monastery of the Town”) and this name finally came to be applied to the entire site.
Unlike most villages in ancient Egypt, which grew up organically from small settlements, Deir el-Medina was a planned community. It was founded by Amenhotep I (c.1541-1520 BCE) specifically to house workers on royal tombs because tomb desecration and robbery had become a serious concern by his time. It was decided that the royalty of Egypt would no longer advertise their final resting places with large monuments but, instead, would be buried in a less accessible area in tombs cut into the cliff walls. These areas would become the necropolises now known as the Valley of the Kings and the Valley of the Queens and those who lived in the village were known as “Servants in the Place of Truth” for their important role in creating eternal homes and also remaining discreet regarding tomb contents and location.
Deir el-Medina is among the most important archaeological sites in Egypt because of the wealth of information it provides on the daily life of the people who lived there. Serious excavation at the site was begun in 1905 CE by the Italian archaeologist Ernesto Schiaparelli and furthered by a number of others throughout the 20th century CE with some of the most extensive work done by French archaeologist Bernard Bruyere between 1922-1940 CE. At the same time Howard Carter was bringing the treasures of the royalty to light from Tutankhamun's tomb, Bruyere was uncovering the lives of the working people who would have created that final resting place.
History of the Village
The earliest extant ruins at the site are from the reign of Thutmose I (1520-1492 BCE), son and successor of Amenhotep I, but there is no doubt that it was Amenhotep I who first planned the site. He and his mother, Ahmose-Nefertari, were worshipped as protective gods at the site throughout its history. The workers also venerated the cobra goddess Meretseger (whose name means “She Who Loves Silence”), the personification of the Theban necropolis and protector of the dead and, especially, of their tombs.
By the time of the New Kingdom (c.1570-c.1069 BCE) tomb robbing had become almost epidemic in scope. Although measures such as false doors and labyrinths had been a part of tomb building since the Old Kingdom (c.2613-2181 BCE) they were not effective in keeping robbers from reaching the burial chamber and the vast treasures left there with the deceased. One gains an understanding of exactly how great the wealth in these tombs was when one considers the treasures of Tutankhamun's tomb discovered by Howard Carter in 1922 CE. Tutankhamun died before he was 20 years old and had not yet amassed the kind of wealth a king like Djoser (c.2670 BCE) or Khufu (2589-2566 BCE) would have had entombed for the afterlife.
The Valley of the Kings was selected as the new necropolis for royalty and the village was planned for easy access (a half hour's walk) from a worker's home to the tombs. The village was in continuous use from the time of Thutmose I until the collapse of the New Kingdom in c. 1069 BCE. Although the community and nearby necropolises were planned to safeguard the tombs of the kings, human greed and opportunity would eventually work to undermine the plan and some of the workers themselves would turn to robbing the tombs they had helped build and protect for an easy and quite substantial payoff. For most of its history, however, the village seems to have functioned as it was intended.

Statuette of King Khufu
This ivory statuette was discovered in two pieces. First, the body was found and, then, three weeks later, the head was discovered. It was found in 1903 by Flinders Petrie during the excavation of Kom el-Sultan in Abydos.
Despite the discovery of a few other small fragments of the king’s statues and statuettes, this ivory statuette is considered to be the only existing complete sculpture of King Khufu, the builder of the Great Pyramid at Giza. Now in the Egyptian Museum, Cairo. JE 36143

Sorry to bother you, but what the fuck is going on with the hawks?
My grandpa from ST Roch used to tell me about them and how they were egyptian hawk people thing.
But then they appear and they are aliens???
Does this mean that the egyptian gods are aliens?
I'm genuinely confused and every time i search for more info i get more confusing stuff that say angels, the dark multiverse and some hawkgod are all involved?
But also Hawkgirl and Hawkwoman are different people????
I'm so very lost so i decided to ask the profesional.
I'm gonna get variations on this question a lot aren't I? Ok, let's rock.
The confusion comes from there being two sets of Hawks who are very similar in their general costume design and aura. They're probably the hardest to tell apart at a glance if you don't know what you're looking for.

(Photograph of the Modern Hawkman. Note the exposed lower half of the face, the black chest emblem and that his wings grow naturally from his upper back)
The original Hawkman and Hawkgirl of the Golden Age were archeologist Carter Hall and his partner Shiera Hall (Nee Sanders) who discovered upon the unearthing of a long forgotten tomb in the Valley of the Kings that they were the reincarnations of Pharaoh Khufu and his consort Chay-ara of the Egyptian Old Kingdom.
Finding relics formed of a strange alien metal within the tomb, the duo used these artifacts and the inspiration of the Egyptian god Horus to become Hawkman and Hawkgirl. Carter was a founding member of the Justice Society and both Hawks served with distinction in the wartime All Star Squadron.
Carter was present at the infamous HUAC trial that disbanded the JSA and the duo vanished for decades.
It was in those following decades that two more heroes would appear and step into the Hawks' boots.
Lawmen lost and many light years from their native Thanagar the two would take up the mantles of the Hawks, raptorial imagery considered sacred symbols of honor and duty on their native world. It just so happened that their alien technology and the motifs of the Golden Age Hawks were near identical which, after the two pairs met helped to uncover the shocking secret in their shared past.
The artifacts that had empowered the original Hawks, assumed to be magical were in fact also technology scavenged from a crashed Thanagarian ship by the ancient Egyptians. (No they didn't use it to built the pyramids. The already working technology and reforging the craft's Nth metal hull were the extend of the technology's use which allowed for the vast expansion and prosperity under Khufu's reign)
The second Hawkgirl changed her name, eventually stating she "did not like the implications of the word "girl" on this planet" and has ever since gone by Hawkwoman.
The original Hawkgirl lost her life during the Zero Hour crisis and has since been embodied in the new Hawkgirl, assumed to be a resident of St. Roch, Louisiana because it is around her appearance that the Hawks began to split their time between St. Roch and their traditional roost in Midway City.
So, in total, as of this moment. There are two Hawkmen, golden and modern ages. Hawkgirl is the younger partner of the original Hawkman and Hawkwoman is the partner of the second. The second pair of Hawks also have a sidekick named Golden Eagle. There is also a new Thanagarian on the scene calling himself Changeling who seems to be related to the second pair of Hawks somehow but no one yet knows exactly how.
As far as superhero families go they are nowhere near as expansive as the Flash or Batman's general cadre but they just look so similar that its very easy to be confused. To the point that they are all consistently misrepresented as one another whenever they show up in the media and it drives me UP A WALL.

The Black Pyramid of Amenemhat III (19th century BCE)
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/4f4e9e795f936742173595b55f4e7539/fe7362603c5f42ec-8a/s540x810/3be23179608212b5ba1580d1167455f40b2c62fe.jpg)
When central power was restored in Egypt after the First Intermediate Period (c. 2181–2055 BCE), the pharaohs resumed building monumental tombs to showcase royal power. However, the kings of the Middle Kingdom began experimenting with new techniques in pyramid construction. They sought to save time and manpower without sacrificing the monumentality befitting an Egyptian monarch. Unlike their Old Kingdom predecessors, they could no longer mobilize the vast armies of workers needed for structures like the pyramids of Giza. Additionally, new challenges forced the rulers to allocate resources to other projects, such as the forts protecting the southern border with Nubia.
One notable example of a Middle Kingdom pyramid is that of King Amenemhat III (19th century BCE) at Dahshur. Dahshur was already a well-known site for royal funerary monuments. In fact, it was here that Pharaoh Snefru built the first "true" pyramid in history around 2600 BCE. In any case, Amenemhat III and his predecessor, Senusret III, also built their pyramids here. Some Egyptologists suggest that ideological reasons may have motivated this choice—these kings sought to affiliate themselves with the glory of the Old Kingdom in this way.
The Black Pyramid owes its almost ominous name simply to its darker appearance. It is actually nothing more than rubble and is not particularly impressive compared to the perfection of the pyramids of Giza. Its original height was 75 meters—only half the size of Khufu's tomb. It was made of mud brick covered with limestone, which must have given it a splendid, shiny appearance under the scorching Egyptian sun. However, these materials are inferior to the more time-resistant stone of the Old Kingdom pyramids, which helps explain its poor condition today.
The Black Pyramid is notable for being the first pyramid to house not only the king but also his queens. However, like all Middle Kingdom monarchs, his body was never found, and the tomb chambers were completely emptied by robbers.
Interestingly, we have recovered the basalt pyramidion that once crowned the Dahshur pyramid of Amenemhat III. It now resides in Cairo and is covered with inscriptions and religious symbols. Some of these were later scratched off, with several archaeologists pointing to the "heretic" 18th Dynasty ruler Akhenaten as the culprit.
