Why Do Character Question The Supernatural's Existence In Sonic?

So due to I think it was Tailstube or a Twitter Takeover, Shadow scoffed at the idea of ghosts existing which got me thinking. The Sonic World is filled with all kinds of ghosts and supernatural occurrences which makes me question why do characters in-universe doubt the existence of the supernatural.

The Boos, Boom Boos, and King Boom Boo from the Adventure, Rivals games are just one example. In Sonic The Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles you have the Hyudoros. And in Sonic Unleashed: Night of the Werehog some ghosts appear as well.

Meanwhile you have the gods known as Light and Dark Gaia.

You have whatever is going on with the storybook games.

Finally you have character likes Amy Rose displaying some level of magical abilites.

You gotta love this detail in Sonic Racing CrossWorlds

King Boom Boo appears in the game as an item, working like this game equivalent of the Blue Shell.

But the developers made a small change in their appearance.

They give King Boom Boo sunglasses.

Which is an amazing detail because King Boom Boo is known to be a boss who's main way of defeat is by exposing them to the light, so in a way to justify their appearance in the tracks, specially in sunny places like Metal Harbor here, where they would be incapable to exist usually.

Also, they dressed the Boos from Pirate Storm* as pirates, who fight against the Kraken.

*Edit: the stage formerly believe to be Pirate Storm from Sonic and the Secret Rings has been confirmed to be called "Kraken Bay".

Whether this is still a world inspired from SSR or an original one is still unconfirmed.

Now that the 3rd Sonic movie is out in theaters (and I already have my tickets for tonight), I thought it would be fun to go through Sonic Adventure 2's story and put all the stages and boss battles into chronological order.

And here we have a character which scared the crap out of me AND my brothers back then ( I asked two of them and we all agree): King Boom Boo and his equally terrifying minions. ...I'm thinking about making a plushie out of one of them, I'm just not sure which one to pick yet.

Also I drew Knuckles by memory because I had no internet while drawing that. And when I had internet, I used it to look up the Booms for reference, so sorry for any mistakes.

Also Happy Halloween! I wanted to draw this guy for a while now and coincidentally I got to draw him during October~
