Honda Civic - A Day in a Life 'Everyday' charts a day in the life of a Civic owner through the brilliant objects he uses. They're shot close up and range from a zipping fly, to a ballpoint pen, to a corkscrew in the evening. He also drives a Civic, another brilliant thing he takes for granted. I wondered where this charming young man went to college or was on…

Annnnnnnd Breathe ...
So that’s it.
The end of the first ever Kennedys Shanghai.
In the next few weeks, some of the guys will get hired at Wieden and the rest will get great opportunities at other great companies.
It was an amazing experience for everyone … us and them … but it wouldn’t have happened without these people:
+ The Magnificent Seven … Carmen, Felix, Griet, Matteo, Meng, Quentin and Wenshu
+ Juni Zhu, the Patron Saint of Saints
+ Arlene Lu and Maxito, the dynamic duo and table tennis losers
+ Patrick Rockwell, also known as the fixer
+ Bryan & Yang
+ Azsa
+ Stone
+ Grainne
+ Nike
+ Boom Boom Bagels
+ Jill Barker
+ Paula Bloodworth, Northy and Marula
+ Yvonne … for never raising an eyebrow when we put in our weird expenses
+ Kim Papworth, Joe Staples and Richard Turley
+ John Rowe and Ryan Johnson in Tokyo
+ Blake Harrop, Alvaro Sotomayor and Judd Caraway in Amsterdam
+ Tony Davidson and Ryan Fisher in London
+ Vitor Abud in Sao Paulo
+ Wieden HR who didn’t say anything even when we made The Kennedys do very weird shit
+ Everyone at Wieden+Kennedy Shanghai
+ Everyone who was part of the Kennedys in Amsterdam, London & Sao Paulo
+ Everyone who applied for the journey
… and finally David Kennedy [and Dan Wieden] who let this thing happen because on April 1st 1982, you started a company that believed in the freedom of creativity
If you ever have the chance to be in – or part of – The Kennedys in the future, whether that is in Shanghai or any of the other Wieden+Kennedy offices, grasp it with both hands.
It will change your life.
It did for us and I’m pretty sure it did for the 7 guys who were our guinea pigs in Shanghai.
Thank you and goodnight.

BULLSEYE!
I worked with Sean Doyle for roughly 12 years. One morning, about six years in, Sean threw a scruffy ball of paper over to my side of the desk – ‘I did us a logo’. It was like a miracle; Our names fit together perfectly, symmetrically, what were the chances? It was worth putting it together even if just to enter for awards. I turned the scribble into type. That wasn’t how Sean had imagined it. DYE was…

PODCAST: Tony Davidson Pt. 2.
PODCAST: Tony Davidson Pt. 2.
The Wieden years. It’s weird, I only interview people whose work I really like, but whenever I lay their work out end-to-end, I’m always surprised at how much better it is than I’d remembered. It could be that there’s much more of it, the sheer consistency of it or that it appears better with the benefit of time and a bit of distance. All three are true of the work in this post. Tony does a good…

Honda – The story of Grrr Commercial takes the viewer on a journey through an optimistic animated world of ‘positive hate’. Explains why hate can sometimes be a positive emotion!  The film tells the story behind the creation of Honda’s first diesel in a unique way. Kenichi Nagahiro, the company’s chief engine designer and inventor of the celebrated VTEC engine, hated diesel engines, hated how noisy, smelly and dirty they were. That lead to creation of 2.2 i-CTDi engine. The campaign also came out with an online flash-based game featuring a rabbit that visits nine environments, eats carrots, and changes shoddy technology into environmentally friendly features. Agency: Wieden + Kennedy London Creative Directors: Kim Papworth & Tony Davidson Art Director / Writers: Sean Thompson, Michael Russoff, Richard Russell Director: Smith & Foulkes Music: Be Nice to the Pigeons Music Production: Amber, London, John Waddel & Will Parnell Sound Design: Wave, London, Johnny Burn Sung by Garrison Keillor, American author and voice artist

Lurpak – ‘Adventure Awaits’ Adventure Awaits is a call to arms encouraging cooks to embark on exciting cooking adventures with Lurpak. Produced by Blink, the film presents cooking in a way evocative of the ultimate adventure: space travel. Hobs flare like rocket boosters. Pilot lights blink like those in spacecraft cockpits. And egg yolks crash into mounds of flour like meteorites into Earth. The piece was made using models, 3D animation, miniature cameras, cranes and motion control. It borrows from the rhetoric of inspirational speeches, rallying cooks to embrace new frontiers in the kitchen. Honda – “The Other Side” Day Honda's sales were in decline across Europe. The average age of buyers had risen to 62. People chose the brand for rational reasons. This interactive video demonstrates the crazier, more impulsive side of Honda. The Other Side seems to tell the story of a man calmly picking his kids up from school in the Civic. But, whenever viewers type R, they see that same man driving the Civic Type R, acting undercover in a police sting operation. The stories run in perfect parallel, seamlessly transitioning at the viewer's will.
