Bloodedge Experience Epilogue done. Feel good moments abound. Kiiro opens up about her past and how she was made, Raquel tells Naoto she chose him for his “Azure” heartbeat and tells him to find her. Think this does mean the person who rescued her is Naoto at a later point but can’t confirm.

We have some knowledge of this, but not much! We know Celica's power of 'opposing Seithr' is somehow linked to the Power of Order. I always interpreted Celica as being born to be a counter to Nine's incredibly power to draw Seithr- the two of them balance one another out in the environment. While I won't get into it right now for lack of time, I feel like applying a similar "force of nature" lens to Celica really enhances her character.
Jin's connection to the Power of Order that seems to overtake him as Hakumen, then, is also directly linked to the disaster his elder sibling poses. He was born to address the issues that Ragna's existence created; if Ragna is doomed to be the Black Beast, that which destroys this world, then his brother was born to become the one who slays the Black Beast, he who saves this world. We can see the way this 'destiny' or 'soul programming' (or whatever you want to call it) threatens to override his actual personality/personhood- it's the heart of his psychosis, it's what Yukianesa capitalizes on and draws out so powerfully. It's why he can't have a normal relationship with his brother.
I'd have to do an actual, sourced refresher on BB to scrounge up all the information we have on the Power of Order as a force (and that might be fun) but for now, the last note I can think of is when BBDW made some very loaded implications when applying it's "Order" trait to certain characters.
The main series explains Celica, Jin, Hakumen, and Izayoi-Tsubaki's connections to Order- but what the HELL is going on with Drei, Hibiki, Homura, Tenjo, and Kiiro!???!
Did Homura inherit whatever role Tenjo had, similarly to how Tsubaki was able to inherit part of Jin's role??? Should we assume that family plays a huge role in how a person may be born with the Power of Order, as it does in the two main series examples I touched on- or is that just Mori enjoying writing complicated families???
For now, no way to tell.
Hey, so I was wondering if it’s just me, but I always kinda read hakumen as a ‘force of nature’ type figure within the blazblue story, for how much focus there is on him being literally unbendable in his beliefs, and one of his epithets, “the World’s Choice”. I find that interpretation really fascinating, so, curious if it resonates with you at all :3
Well he does have power of order which is basically a force of nature in the blazblue world so it does make sense yah

could you explain the difference between prime field devices and murakumos? i was under the impression they were one and the same. as a followup could you explain what the deal with the origin is? like why does she look like saya, and therefore murakumos 11-13?
Prime Fields are lifeforms designed to enter the Boundary. There are 13 of them, from Alpha-1 to Nu-13. They’re not the same as a Murakumo Unit, of which there is only two - Kiiro Hikagami and Nu. Kiiro really hasn’t been explained too much so I won’t talk about her, and Nu uses the Lux Sanctus: Murakumo Nox, which is why she’s called that.
Lambda is a Murakumo Unit imitation thanks to Kokonoe’s upgrades, and Mu is a Kusanagi.
The Origin was the first Prime Field to go into the Boundary. She made contact with the Amaterasu Unit, and became an Eye of the Azure - she became an Observer, had gained a soul, and could create phenomenon interventions; basically, she was a God to humanity. Anyway, humanity didn’t like this, they got scared and started the Prime Field War. After The Origin recreated the world, each Prime Field would have a little part of The Origin’s soul within them.
Anyway, one of these Prime Fields, known only as Number 5 (she’s not called Epsilon-5 in the game so I’m not calling her that), not only had a piece of The Origin’s soul, but she was also based off of a woman who could infinitely amplify seithr, but this woman was killed by her brother (it’s hinted, but not confirmed, that this woman was Saya Terumi). Ragna, Jin, and Saya are all her “children”, but she was killed by Jubei a while ago. Saya inherited her ability to be able to amplify seithr, and also had a part of The Origin’s soul.
Lambda, Nu, and Mu were all based off of Saya. Lambda and Nu, despite having parts of The Origin’s soul, eventually became their own individuals. Mu had the largest part of The Origin’s soul because of the energy from the massive blast from Take-Mikazuchi. This part of the soul is basically Noel.
As to why Saya looks so similar to The Origin? Well, that’s not explained, but it’s possibly because of the methods used to create her mother, Number 5, but Relius stated that he didn’t know how it was done. So right now it’s a mystery, so I hope the unnecessarily complicated lowdown on The Origin is enough for now.

BBDW News 2 Electric Boogaloo
All information is up-to-date as of February 4th, 12:00am PST. I went over all the basics in this post that I made shortly after the big bbdw revival was announced
TL;DR: BBDW is officially set to release in the Japanese iOS and Android stores on February 16th! There is no confirmed western release. A lot of characters got confirmed to be in the game either as a playable character or in a gatcha card. The battle system was explained as well.
All information was gathered from official Arc System Works announcements as well as the Unofficial Blazblue Wiki’s translations of them on their twitter account.
Gameplay:
just a quick disclaimer I have played like 2 RPGs ever so I’m not going to try to explain it myself but the Unofficial Blazblue Wiki has translated the official info Arcsys gave about the battle system! It sounds like they took a lot of the concepts in the fighting game and found some way to translate that into RPG mechanics.
[basic info] [revolver(r) and overdrive] [distortion drives] [astral heats]
Story:
Mori has said in a famitsu article that the script length is 2200k characters. For refrence CF had a script length of about 880k characters. If anything this implies that the story that will be in BBDW is almost or all the way complete. Not a whole lot more has been revealed about what the story is about.
Characters:
I’m going to separate this into 2 categories which are confirmed playable (which means they are listed on the official bbdw website as a character) and characters that have a confirmed appearance (whether through mori’s drawings that are tagged BBDW or they make an appearance in any of the promotional videos or artwork, they are just not listed on the website as a character).
CONFIRMED PLAYABLE: Rachel Alucard Arakune Naoto Kurogane Relius Clover (younger Bloodedge Experience version) Valkenhayn R. Hellsing (younger Bloodedge Experience version) Kiiro Hikagami Saya Terumi Trinity Glassfille Kazuma Kval Mai Natsume (but she’s all fucked up and evil now) Jin Kisaragi Tsubaki Yayoi Bullet (Mori I’ll never forgive you for taking away her pants) Hibiki Kohaku Kuon Glamred Stroheim Ripper Iron Tager (confirmed as playable through a promotional trailer)
CONFIRMED APPEARANCE:
Ragna The Bloodedge (main promotional art) Es (main promotional art) Kagura Mutsuki (mori’s cryptic artwork) Hinata Himezuru (promotional video of story mode) Izanami (gatcha card) Clavis Alucard (gatcha card) Nu-13 (gatcha card) Acht (gatcha card) Litchi Faye-Ling (gatcha card) Linhua (gatcha card) Hakumen (gatcha card) Raquel Alucard (gatcha card) Celica A. Mercury (gatcha card) Cypher Albar (gatcha card) Bang Shishigami (gatcha card) Nine The Phantom (gatcha card) Taokaka (gatcha card)
NOTE: I’m probably missing some characters because there were two characters who I wasn’t 100% certain who they were so I didn’t include them.

if rachel alucard dies in a future blazblue game it will be by the hands of a relative of Valkenhayn who bears his surname and valkenhayn will die before rachel
rachel alucard is a vampire whose last name is an anagram for dracula and in various interpretations of dracula uses the name alucard as an alias If rachel alucard ends up dying in the future it will beat the hands of a relative of Valkenhayn who shares valkenhayns last name because valkenhayns last name “Hellsing” is a nod at the protagonist of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, the character in question being responsible for destroying the count is Abraham Van Helsing. In a more modern interpretation of the character, in the movie Van Helsing, the protagonist based on the original Helsing first presented in the novel, turns into a werewolf, if only briefly; a final similarity to the movie is that the antagonist, Dracula, employs werewolves as servants in a similar fashion to Rachel “employing” Valkenhayn. and it would be fitting for valkenhaynś relative to kill rachel since When Valkenhayn was in his 20s, he belonged to the group Immortal Breaker, alongside Relius Clover. The two were hired by the Mitsurugi Agency’s Kiiro Hikagami to assassinate 'The No Life King' Clavis Alucard and he failed. but his younger relative would end up succeeding to kill rachel. and in the van hellsing movie count dracula was killed by van hellsing when he turned into a werewolf. so it fits for rachel to be killed by a werewolf count draculas death happened after the werewolf that he had as a servant was killed so valkenhayn will possibly end up being killed before rachel

👄 + kiiro hikagami
send a ‘👄 + character name’ and my muse will talk about that character
Kiiro Hikagami. High-ranking member of the Mitsurugi Agency. Crazy girl who obsessed over him for whatever reason.
…And, a Prime Field Device–a type of artificial human created for whatever reason humans thought necessary. The last of her model. Maybe the last in their world.
“Kiiro’s… She’s a complicated person. Scary and a little uncomfortable for me to be around, but complicated.”
He remembered the first time he’d met her, precisely what his first impression of her was. As far as he was concerned, she was just some creepy person who was way too into him for her own good. Whatever ‘world peace’ her organization was aiming for didn’t really matter to him–though, that might’ve been the forlorn wrath of his destroyed apartment talking.
Then, he remembered his first real encounter with Spinner. When Spinner nearly killed him. He remembered her intervening, and the face-off between them.
He remembered that forbidden word leaving Spinner’s lips. An insult that should’ve never been uttered, a word that hit her in a place she couldn’t defend.
“Mosiac”. He could recall how hot her wrath burned, how she’d screamed that she was going to kill him. And when Spinner retreated, he remembered seeing seeing a woman who once looked so calm and collected, clenching her fists and crying. All the while, with him knowing nothing of what had truly been said.
He remembered later, when he woke up in a hospital following Spinner’s defeat. He remembered when she’d shown up, intent on speaking to him about something.
…He remembered her showing him the scars on her body. And learning of how she was created.
The death of her ‘sisters’, and how she’d been created from their remains. How Spinner had killed those sisters, had to gall to mock both her and them, and how she’d sworn to kill him for it.
Up until that point, he’d never really thought about the idea of ‘artificial life’.
He’d never thought about how humans were willing to just create things, only to throw them away when they became inconvenient. He never even considered how it felt to be created, only to be treated as little more than weapon. A tool, to be used.
And yet, he refused her offer to fight at her side, to join the Mitsurugi Agency. He thought about all that, listened to her story, and rejected her.
He knew why he’d done it. To finish his promise with Raquel.
The decision was made before the conversation had started.
They both knew that.
Even still, when she said the two of them would be ‘enemies from here on’…
Enemies, fighting one another to claim the Azure for themselves…
There was this cold feeling in his stomach. And a lingering question.
“Do we really have to fight?”
“Is this the only road we can take?”
“…”
A final moment of reflection. And then–
“She’s a person. Just like anyone else. She’s scared of things, she gets sad, she gets angry. She gets happy, she has wishes and desires. I don’t give a damn whether she was born, or whether she was put together in a lab.
Human or Prime Field Device, she’s Kiiro Hikagami.
Even if our fate is to be enemies… Even if, in the end, I have to take her ‘dream’ from her…
I won’t let anyone say she isn’t a living, feeling person. Her, or any other ‘artificial human’. I won’t forgive anyone who says that. No exceptions.”

Aight Chapter 8 done. Eh some decent lore dumps and Naoto gets some training. Here it heavily hints that Naoto and Kiiro have a life-link and she has some serious Nu-13 like dialogue. Makes me wonder how the rules of life-links and how they’re formed are supposed to work.

As someone who likes to imagine stories for various characters, I like to imagine them using their powers in ways not limited by gameplay. The Drives are unique powers to the BB cast (Ragna steals life energy, Rachel controls the wind, Valkenhayn can go wolf form, Jin freezes stuff, etc.) but some of the characters' drives are a bit hard to describe outside of gameplay. So how would the BB cast go about using their Drive powers outside of gameplay, for curiositis sake. ignore if u want.
It’s an interesting question…
Not all Drives in gameplay are the same as in lore. An example of this is that Relius’ lore Drive makes him create puppet arms, and Ignis is just a gameplay thing. Anyway, here are the lore Drives of characters, In this case, N/A just means it hasn’t been officially stated, or if they have one at all:
Ragna the Bloodedge - naturally doesn’t have a Drive but has Soul Eater, which just naturally eats away at the souls of those nearby.
Jin Kisaragi - N/A. His gameplay Drive is because of Yukianesa’s powers.
Noel Vermillion - N/A
Rachel Alucard - Silpheed - control of the wind.
Iron Tager - N/A
Arakune/Roy - N/A
Carl Clover - N/A - could be his cogs and chess pieces, but that’s speculation.
Bang Shishigami - N/A
Taokaka - N/A - could be her speed, but also speculation.
Hakumen - N/A
Litchi Faye-Ling - N/A
Nu-13 - N/A, but implied to be Sword Summoner, the same as her gameplay Drive. So she could maybe play darts outside of gameplay?
Lambda-11 - N/A, but implied to be Sword Summoner II, same as her gameplay Drive
Tsubaki Yayoi/Izayoi - N/A
Hazama - N/A
Mu-12 - N/A
Makoto Nanaya - N/A
Valkenhayn R. Hellsing - N/A
Platinum the Trinity - N/A
Relius Clover - the puppet arms he creates in gameplay are actually his Drive.
Amane Nishiki - N/A
Bullet - N/A
Azrael - N/A
Kagura Mutsuki - N/A
Kokonoe Mercury - N/A
Terumi/Susano’o - N/A
Celica A. Mercury - N/A
Hibiki Kohaku - N/A - implied to be his ability to create shadow clones
Naoto Kurogane - Bloodedge - allows complete manipulation of his own blood.
Nine the Phantom - doesn’t have one
Hades Izanami - is a Drive
Mai Natsume - N/A
Es - N/A
That’s all the playable characters. Here are the ones who aren’t playable but are confirmed to have Drives:
Raquel Alucard - Tempest - complete control of the wind. Often uses it to fly, and can even carry both herself and Naoto at the same time.
Karengina Palsett - Seagull - she can see all living things in a nearby distance, regardless of whether or not someone’s hiding. She can no longer use it after her interrogation/torture by the Zero Squadron.
Kiiro Hikagami - creates a type of projected blade that can cut most things. Isn’t expanded upon too much.
Spinner Superior - unknown. Only mentioned, but not seen.
Saya Terumi - Soul Eater - different to Ragna’s as it chose her as a host, and she activates it by touch, and it’s not an aura
Touya Kagari - it’s not named, but it’s essentially Bloodedge.
Sadly, Drives have only been expanded upon in the last couple of years. A lot of information is missing on them, so I’m sorry that I can’t give more information.

You once said Clavis in his youth was one of the strongest if not the strongest in the blazblue universe do you believe he could take on terumi in his susanoo armor or azrael for that matter?
Hm, difficult question.
Clavis’ strength is only demonstrated against Relius and Valkenhayn when they were both young men. Kiiro Hikagami even considered his strength a threat to the world’s order so he must’ve been up there with some of the strongest in the cast.
Whether he’d be on Azrael and Susano’o’s levels though? I don’t know. Even though it’s speculation, there’s not enough information to accurately say at this point, sorry.
