Kevin Fucking Fiala | Jake & Morgan

Jake knew this trip was going to be a disaster the moment he stepped off the plane in Switzerland.

It should’ve been simple��Timo and Singer’s wedding, a weekend of celebrating their friends, a chance to spend some uninterrupted time with Morgan. But then Kevin Fiala walked through the hotel lobby with a smirk, and suddenly, the weekend wasn’t simple at all.

Jake clenched his jaw, watching Kevin greet Morgan with the kind of familiarity that made his stomach churn. He knew why, of course.

Timo had set them up while he and Morgan were broken up.

He hadn’t even found out until months later, long after he and Morgan had found their way back to each other. He didn’t have the right to be mad—not really. They weren’t together at the time. But that didn’t mean he wanted to watch Kevin flirt with her across the dinner table at the rehearsal dinner.

Jake stabbed his fork into his pasta. Hard.

Morgan, oblivious or maybe just ignoring his mood, smiled at Kevin “It’s so good to see you! How’s LA treating you?”

Kevin’s grin widened “It’s been good. But Switzerland? Much better” His eyes flickered to hers in a way that made Jake’s fingers tighten around his fork.

She laughed softly, and Jake swore he felt it in his chest.

What the hell was she laughing at? Was Kevin even funny?

He didn’t realize he was gripping his fork too tight until Morgan’s hand landed on his thigh. He jolted slightly, looking at her in surprise. She barely glanced at him, but her fingers squeezed gently, grounding him.

Still, the irritation simmered as dinner went on. Kevin was just… there. Talking to Morgan. Making her smile. And sure, he knew Morgan was with him. He knew she loved him. But jealousy had wrapped itself around his chest like a vice, and he couldn’t shake it.

So when Kevin pulled Morgan aside after dinner, Jake saw red.

He crossed the distance in a few long strides, catching the tail end of Kevin’s sentence.

“—thought maybe we could catch up”

Jake scoffed. Loudly. “Yeah? Catch up on what, exactly?”

Morgan sighed “Jake—”

“No, I’m curious” Jake interrupted, his eyes locked on Kevin “What exactly do you and my girlfriend need to catch up on?”

Kevin raised an eyebrow “Relax, Middleton. We were just talking”

“Yeah, well, talk somewhere else”

Kevin smirked “Still jealous?”

Jake bristled “Not jealous”

Morgan snorted beside him, and he shot her a look.

Kevin chuckled “Sure, buddy”

Jake took a step forward, but Morgan’s hand pressed against his chest, stopping him “Okay, that’s enough,” she said, looking between the two of them. She turned to Kevin first “It was good to see you, but I think it’s best we just leave it at that”

Kevin held up his hands in mock surrender “Fair enough. Enjoy the wedding” He shot Jake a smug look before walking away.

Jake exhaled sharply, but before he could say anything, Morgan grabbed his wrist and tugged him toward the terrace.

The cool night air hit him, but it did nothing to soothe his frustration. Morgan turned to face him, arms crossed.

“What the hell was that?” she asked.

Jake ran a hand through his hair “He was flirting with you”

“He was not” she said, exasperated “And even if he was, what does it matter?”

Jake stared at her “What does it matter?” He let out a bitter laugh “Morgan, he—” He paused, shaking his head “I know you went on dates with him”

Morgan’s expression softened slightly “Jake—”

“I know we weren’t together, I get it. But that doesn’t mean I wanna watch him look at you like that. Like he still has a chance” His voice was gruff, laced with something raw.

Morgan sighed, stepping closer “Jake, I went on two dates with him. That’s it”

Jake frowned “Timo made it sound like more”

Morgan rolled her eyes “Because Timo likes drama. I wasn’t interested, okay? He was nice, but he wasn’t you”

Jake blinked, his frustration flickering into something else “Yeah?”

She smiled, reaching up to cup his face “Yeah, you idiot”

He huffed, his hands sliding around her waist “You could’ve told me that earlier”

“I thought you knew” she teased “You’re the one I came here with, you’re the one I’m leaving with. You’re the one I love, Jake”

The knot in his chest finally loosened. He ducked his head, pressing his forehead to hers “I love you too, Morgs”

“Good” She leaned up and kissed him, slow and sweet, and suddenly, nothing else mattered.

Not Kevin. Not Timo’s meddling.

Just her.

How 2024 is already coming to a close, I couldn't tell you. But here we are for another year of Writer Wrapped! We had a heavy AU year and honestly, it breathed so much life into my creative soul. I needed this year as it was, to disappear into a world we created that may have been fiction, but was also deeply human.

Thank you all for being here to create such a wonderful space.

I'm looking forward to another fun year in 2025! But first... let's look back.

29 FEBRUARY 2024: Page Six: Kate Middleton’s team is speaking out in light of the conspiracy theories swirling about the Princess of Wales’ whereabouts following her abdominal surgery in January.

“Kensington Palace made it clear in January the timelines of the princess’ recovery and we’d only be providing significant updates,” her rep tells Page Six exclusively. “That guidance stands.”

The flak reiterates that Middleton, 42, is “doing well.”

ET Online: Earlier this week when it was revealed William would be missing his godfather’s memorial service, the Palace told ET that Kate, who underwent abdominal surgery in January, continues to be “doing well.” But with the speculation only intensifying, the Palace released another statement to ET on Thursday.  

“We gave guidance two days ago that the Princess of Wales continues to be doing well,” the statement reads. “As we have been clear since our initial statement in January, we shall not be providing a running commentary or providing daily updates.”

Tom Sykes of The Daily Beast: A former royal staffer who still has friends and contacts inside the palace said, “Anyone who expects the palace to suddenly start giving lengthy updates on Kate will be disappointed. The principal aim of her being sequestered is to guard her privacy. I’m sure the press hate it because it is working. There is a really, really small bubble of people who know exactly what is going on.”

Prince William visited a central London synagogue, where Kate had been scheduled to visit on Holocaust Remembrance Day (27 Jan 2024).

Jan Moir on Prince William: One day soon he will be the head of the nation, a focus for national identity, unity and pride. So maybe he should stop behaving like a celebrity flake and reign in that impervious attitude along with his indulgent fondness for obsessive secrecy. If this is a sign of what is to come when he ascends the throne, it is very worrying one.
