Sooo I was trying to think of what to do for my dtiys, as I wanted to combine my 2 top interests (Wof and Greek mythology), and technically I have to thank @mythos321 for speaking about the idea of a Wof x Iliad AU in the first place lol (I have not stopped thinking about it) Sooo tada !! You guys get Peril as Achilles and Clay as Patroclus :3 (technically cause that’s the vibe I was going for here)

4. Where do you find inspiration for new ideas?

All over! Art, tv shows, books, other fics, random glimpses into the multiverse at the lives of my blorbos. That last one probably most of all. I'll be minding my own business, not thinking about anything fiction related at all, and then suddenly my brain is like hey what if your problematic faves kissed under these unlikely circumstances? And I'm forced to listen, because it won't shut the fuck up until I acknowledge the idea 😆

16. How many fic ideas are you nurturing right now? Share one of them?

My brain is on a Destiel sabbatical, so my current fic ideas are related to Dragon Age or Baldur's Gate 3. Video game fandoms are where I started, specifically in Dragon Age 2, and it's nice to be back in that space right now.

I've got a DA2 WIP with Hawke as a rogue who is being haunted by nightmares of his father accusing him of being a failure while his family dies one by one. He ends up falling in love with two men, who hate each other very much, and he's torn between them, even though neither of them would ask him to choose. Also, it turns out that dream figure of his father isn't actually a dream, and isn't actually his father 😈

That one is currently on hiatus though, and I'm actively working on a fic where my two OCs from BG3 are half brothers who both fall in love with the companion character Astarion. I'm having such a fun time with Kestrel and Caelnir that I keep making up little side stories about their childhood and their relationship with their older adopted brother. I've also developed alternate universes for them, and already know how they're all going to die someday, because I'm THAT obsessed with these characters lol

Apparently all I'm in the mood to write these days is polyamory \^o^/

26. Which of your fics would you call your wildest ride?

I think it's Dreaming in Digital. The original summary only said "When Dean finds a deactivated sex bot, he knows it's his lucky day." which makes it sound like a smut fic, right? But there's hardly any smut in it at all. It's inspired by cyberpunk and The Velveteen Rabbit and the Ship of Theseus Paradox. It explores sentience and free will. It has a VR video game based on Moondor. Vampirism is a virus, and ghosts are malfunctioning medical nanobots. IT'S SO FUCKING COOL and everyone should read it 😆

so, like, for Pie Day, since i’ve beat the shit out of the cheesecake factory’s excuse for an apple pie (bite me, Overton), i’ve decided to share the recipe with all of y’all in the interest of jolly cooperation \o/

without further ado...

Kestrel's Homemade Apple Pie

Pie Crust (9 in.)

1 cup all-purpose flour

1/4 tsp salt

1/4 cups canola oil

2 tbsp cold water

Apple Pie Filling

3/4 cup white sugar

2 tbsp all-purpose flour

1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

1/4 tsp ground nutmeg

7 cups apples, thinly sliced (about 3-4 medium apples. i prefer granny smiths)

2 tsp lemon juice

1 tbsp butter

Oat Crumb Topping

1/4 cup all-purpose flour

1/4 cup whole grain rolled oats

1/4 cup brown sugar, packed

1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

1/4 tsp ground nutmeg

2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

Pie Crust (Prep)

Mix flour and salt

Add oil, mix w/ fork

Sprinkle water and mix

Form into a ball and roll out

Apple Pie Filling (Prep)

Mix sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a small mixing bowl

Oat Crumb Topping (Prep)

Mix until the biggest crumbles are about the size of a pea 

The Pie

Line 9 in. pie dish w/ pie crust, press gently to remove bubbles

Layer in 1/3 of the apples along the bottom, dust with the sugar mixture, and repeat

Top off with the rest of the mixture

Sprinkle lemon juice over the pie filling

Cut the butter into small pieces and distribute evenly across the top

Sprinkle the oat crumb topping evenly

Bake at 375F for 40-50 minutes

Let cool for 10-20 minutes (so the filling can set properly and you don't end up trying to ladle piping hot apple soup onto your plate)

let me know how you like it, if you make it! i highly recommend topping with vanilla ice cream

Very good idea, I can't tell you how many times I've read an adventure that has generic bandits or pirates. I know the GM has some responsibility for coming up with motivations when players dig a bit deeper, but it would be nice to have a table with names and/or themes for the enemies you might talk to.

1d6 Viking Crews of the Triple Alliance 1. Llerrick Llobsterpot and the Shark, a vessel with a long history of survival. Not afraid to cut and run from a strong enemy, but their many awful tricks help win most battles. 2. Kestrel o' the Flames and the Fjord's Breath, a crew of solemn and religious raiders. They offer blood to Sekolah before a fight, and supposedly, endless flocks of hungry gulls follow the ship. 3. Andera Dale and the Suncatcher, obsessively repairing and upgrading their hull, sails, and oars for more speed. They would chase a prize through a maelstrom to scavenge it for a new type of rudder. 4. Norbertson and the Vanquished Dream, a cursed crew that attracts brutal idealists. Reenactors with a literal axe to grind, they claim to be looking for a real warship from centuries ago, full of relics from the Evil Empire. 5. Inkblood Maria and the Midnight, a stealthy ship that tends to raid villages rather than board other vessels. The crew is known to be prone to infighting, but terrified of their sorcerer captain. 6. Papak Boffins and the Pride of Gamvik, a three-masted terror of a ship with hundreds of sailors. Everyone on board is tattooed with a rising sun and they say whole generations have lived and died without setting foot on land. Papak is just the latest Captain Boffins in his family, and hopes to make his name worthy of the renowned craft.

Pro tip for world building: if you have an entity designed for the players to fight in combat, don't name it "pirate", "raider," "soldier" or something equally generic. And ESPECIALLY don't name their faction that!

It's much more characterful to give them a place or people that they come from.

Easy example: Fallout 3 vs Fallout: New Vegas

Fallout 3 has raiders, raiders, and more raiders.

New Vegas has Great Khans, Fiends, Powder Gangers, Jackals, Scorpions, Vipers, and Greasers.

All of the above are effectively "raiders" but New Vegas offers 7 different (or at least theoretically different) raider cultures with their own histories, while Fallout 3 has 1, maybe 0, raider cultures.

Even just naming these NPC groups will develop the world because it'll either make the players or YOU, the designer, ask questions about why they are named that.

In short: every NPC has a group they belong to, so at least name the groups.

Because statistically speaking, being  born with the same gender in an alternate world is not always certain to happen. Even when you are the same gender, its not likely you would have the same appearance or personality. Remember there are a ton of other sperm who could have influenced your DNA, and the chance of getting the one you got was 0.01%. You are unique. Therefore the alternates we meet may have different traits, appearances, and genders at times.

Talents for infamous: frigokinesis, umbrakinesis, Thermokinesis, air mimicry... Wouldn't it be neat if someone freaked  and accidentally started the zombie Armageddon? It would be Desmond. In cannon he relives the memories of dead people, as a conduit he revives them. One day Desmond slept near a graveyard while on the run. That night, some robbers were violently threatening him, and he reanimated the dead to protect himself. Red can look through time, and is a real live four tune teller, Gavin controls mist for illusions, Aeiden controls snow already there.

So they will. Inception , ghost hunter , infamous , mass effect, bioshock, supernatural,

Ghosts: "In where there is no time-travelling necklace and a sixteen year old Desmond is haunted by a seven year old ghost who died on his birthday."

And her dealings with PSTD

Red was a kid when she experienced her first traumatic incident. Its not her last.

While she struggles with symptoms, eventually she will learn some ways to cope with therapy and training.

Lets explore how she copes.

Hyper Arousal

Red has hyper vigilance . While she calms it down some, she still feels a need to search the room, before paying attention to the people. She scent identifies people and relies on her nose to tell her if new people come in.

She's not fond of underground.

2. Emotional outbursts.  Red does not like being out of control emotionally. Sh knows she is prone to that when stressed, and responds with the neutral face, also known as emotionally shutting down. She fakes the hell out of it.

3.Lack of concentration. Red has off days. Days where she can't do things like work, or really anything. Other times she has hyper focus.

Avoidance

1. Situational avoidance. .Red at first does try to avoid things like shopping and new people, but she's alone in a strange place, with no way to speak the language.

Social Isolation: the above means she would have trouble finding company regardless.

Triggers:  the words "don't move". People being too close.  Muggers. For awhile guns. She decides to learn to use them and learn to get over her fear (she hopes). It worked, and its her preferred weapon, but she doesn't use handguns. Other people can, but not her.

Remembering the trauma

1. Nightmares. She defiantly has nightmares. They don't help her energy. Somedays when she feels she will have a nightmare, she just refuses to sleep. She's learned exercising very very regularly, helps. The time-travelling and the nightmares means she has a weird sleep schedule. If she wakes up from a nightmare, she will go work intensely. Then she will cool down, shower and sleep the morning. She works out every day, more then once, 

Unless situation dictates otherwise.

2. Flashbacks- she has flashbacks of smell, and feeling mostly.

Being a successful child prodigy is not just a matter of genetics or skill. It is drive. Once you mentally give up, that's it, you can practice, but you won't be the best.

This drive is consuming. It is an obsession. This is a kid who "when given a choice between going to a birthday party or practicing, would pick practice."

It's why your protagonist is the best. Unlike ash, they forgo a lot of things to become better at battling. Such as initiating and maintaining friendship.
