I'm pretty sure I was a mixture of laughing out loud and going "OH COME ON!!" When I first watched this.

The second-hand embarrassment from this scene... I can't.

The thing is.. this is the "Johnson something a rather" from the CIA that he was talking about in citizen Joe?

I can’t stand the contrast between Sam and Kerry in *that* scene as Sam looks so dowdy compared to earlier seasons, but the fact Amanda Tapping was pregnant at this point partially explains it!

I also agree that they were showing the more ‘domestic’ side of Sam’s character, but I think this was part of her changing herself to fit in with Pete’s expectations/ society’s expectations. She was trying to fit herself into that box (because she thought she wanted what Pete was offering/ had given up on a possible future with Jack) and changed her style (consciously or unconsciously) to reflect that.

It would be interesting to see if her civilian clothing changed back to how she was before in seasons 9 and 10. Of the top of my head, I can only think of two scenes where she’s in civilian clothes: the scene where she and Vala have been shopping, and the scene where they’re all playing poker at the cabin.

Sam used to wear stuff like what Kerry's wearing, so how come Sam's in a terrible twin set that doesn't do anything for her, and Kerry's in a colour that makes her skin pop?

Look. Look at that colour on Sam. And the cut! It's just... what?!

And then when she's decided to break up with the potato Pete, she's back in something with a bit of actual character.

The neckline. The colour. The not a twinset of it. But really, what were the costume designers on?!

I have some opinions about Kerry Johnson.

I actually think she’s a really good character. I know I normally hate the people that get in the way of Sam and Jack being together, but.. she didn’t get in the way, really.

She saw Sam and Jack interacting for a few minutes and immediately knew what was going on. Yes, she might’ve heard some of what Sam was saying, and took a wild guess. But you can see her looking at their interactions as they speak.

And I think that her bowing out, respectfully, might I add, no matter how good she thinks her and Jack are together was the right thing to do. But she wasn’t angry with him for it, she didn’t resent Sam for it, she asked how Jacob was doing for a start. She gave him advice about it, and I actually kind of love her for that.

Like that is such a ‘be the bigger person’ thing to do. She didn’t want to get involved with Jack too much knowing that he and Sam were clearly in love, and she wouldn’t want to be ‘the other woman’.

I know she did it for her, probably more so than for them, but she told Jack to retire and run the SGC as a civilian so he and Sam could be together. And if she genuinely just wanted to get out of the situation and didn’t care for the relationship between Sam and Jack, she wouldn’t have suggested it.

She definitely needed more scenes, and I think that her and Sam could have been good friends otherwise. I’m reading a fic right now, and it has her and Sam as friends. I’ll link it.

But I just think she was a good character, and I would have liked to see more of her. Maybe not more of her and Jack, but her as a person.

I have more thoughts, but I just can’t put them into words right now.

On Monday, a federal judge in Rhode Island ordered the Trump administration to “immediately restore frozen funding,” claiming that the administration had violated his January 31 order to halt its freeze on spending appropriated by Congress. In response to this decision and a litany of other rulings against President Donald Trump’s actions, right-wing media figures and MAGA online influencers called on the Trump administration to defy the court orders, labelling the judges “unconstitutional” and “lawless,” and even calling for them to be impeached.

The Trump administration faces a number of legal barriers to its executive actions

On February 10, U.S. District Judge John J. McConnell issued an order for the Trump administration to “immediately restore frozen funding” after the White House failed to fully comply with his previous ruling. According to NBC News, McConnell issued the order after officials from 22 states “presented evidence” that “in some cases” the administration “continued to improperly freeze federal funds and refused to resume disbursement of appropriated federal funds” after McConnell’s January 31 court order blocking the administration’s funding freeze. [NBC News, 2/10/25; The Associated Press, 2/10/25]

Other judges have ruled against several of Trump’s actions, including decisions at least temporarily blocking the administration’s moves “restricting birthright citizenship, a buyout offer to federal workers who agree to resign by Sept. 30," and the transfer of three Venezuelan immigrants to Guantánamo Bay. On February 8, U.S. District Judge Paul Engelmayer issued an order in New York barring Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency from accessing the Treasury Department’s payment systems. Another judge in Boston issued a February 10 order delaying Trump’s plan to offer resignation buyouts to tens of thousands of federal employees, and a separate federal court issued a February 9 order blocking the Trump administration from sending three Venezuelan immigrants being held in New Mexico to the Guantánamo Bay detention center in Cuba. On February 9, Vice President JD Vance posted, “If a judge tried to tell a general how to conduct a military operation, that would be illegal. If a judge tried to command the attorney general in how to use her discretion as a prosecutor, that's also illegal. Judges aren't allowed to control the executive's legitimate power.” [Twitter/X, 2/9/25]

For years, right-wing media have repeatedly taken aim at judges overseeing cases across the country involving Trump. Conservative figures previously railed against judges in cases about Trump’s efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election, his New York hush money trial, and his civil fraud trial. [Media Matters, 5/30/24, 11/1/23, 5/28/24, 1/30/24]

Right-wing media throw temper tantrums over judges halting the Trump Regime’s harmful and un-American policies, with suggestions to defy such orders and/or calls to impeach or arrest such judges.
