like to me that’s the more romantic of the lines; the fact that kaz immediately checks himself and is like nah she’s not mine but i will liquidate all my assets to ensure she’s free.

I firmly believe that if Kaz and Inej have a kid they will have a miniature war over their first word. They will both claim it’s a joke, nothing serious. But it is.

Inej wants something sweet, something normal, like ‘Mama’ or ‘Papa.’ She doesn’t care if the kid says Kaz’s name first. It’s better than the other option. The other option is Kaz’s. He is actively trying to get the child to say ‘Kruge.’

In the end, it is neither. It is ‘Wylan.’ Wylan has met the child once, maybe twice.

okay yes kaz doesn't care about anything blah blah blah but have you ever considered that he remembers absolutely everything and not only the stuff he can one day use against the people in his life. he remembers how jesper puts cinnamon into his coffee so it doesn't keep him awake all day so kaz keeps cinnamon sticks behind the bar at the crow club for him. he remembers how wylan tucks flowers into his messenger bag so he waits beside a flower patch when they meet to discuss demo plans. he remembers how nina hates how her only pair of boots dig into her heels so he leaves a new pair on her bed without a word. he remembers how matthias is soothed at the sound of bird chirping so he tells him to walk down by the east harbor for "no other reason" than to "pick up a shipment" and NOT because seagulls and ospreys cluster there. and yes. his wife. inej. he remembers how pious and devote she is so he carves symbols of the saints into the wood of her ship with his knife to remind her he adores her faith despite all that he's said before and he would remember even in death how her raven hair flows down her back and how her nimble fingers stroke around her whiskey glass because he loves her GODDAMNIT.

headcanon that Kaz consistently breaks into the Van Eck house just to steal little things. Wylan's favorite pen. one sock from every pair Jesper has. Marya's most recent painting. a family heirloom Jesper says is hideous. Wylan's flute. Jesper's favorite (and most hideous) shirt. etcetera.

it happens so often that eventually if something goes missing they just assume it's Kaz's fault and go down to the Slat or the Crow Club to get it back. Kaz claims it's to "keep them humble" when in actuality it's his way of getting them to come visit him because he's lonely and misses them (especially Jesper).

when Kaz stole Wylan's favorite pen Wylan and Jesper were busy and couldn't go get it so they sent a servant instead and Kaz insisted he had no idea what they were talking about and that he'd never do such a thing. then Wylan and Jesper showed up later and Kaz was sitting at his desk writing with the pen.

just me thinking about how a man walking down a crowded road will check to make sure his wallet is still there, and in doing so tells the thief exactly where his wallet is. Kaz looked at Inej to make sure she was still there, and in doing so told van eck exactly who to take 😭😭

I love Six of Crows so much because the way that the whole story ties together in such a neat little bow is so sweet to me. Its things like this:

A man who pats his wallet to make sure it's there is signaling to every thief where his wallet is. He pats it to make sure it's there.

Kaz glances over to Inej on Vellegeluk when he knows he shouldn't have. He knew it was a dangerous situation, but he couldn't help but look.

He looked to make sure she was there.

my favourite thing about kaz is that he isn't a humourless miserable serious person. he's a drama queen, constantly sarcastic and genuienly laughs. he's cruel and terrifying, but he's also just a sassy teenager

love love LOVE jesper fahey so much, kaz rips out someone's eye and tosses them overboard and jesper's just like "would he do that for me?" not at all bothered, just wondering if kaz cares about him enough to kill a guy for him. a man with his priorities absolutely in order.

Wylan in Crooked Kingdom: Until this moment, Wylan hadn't quite understood how much they meant to him. His father would have sneered at these thugs and thieves, a disgraced soldier, a gambler who couldn't keep out of the red. But they were his first friends, his only friends, and Wylan knew that even if he'd had his pick of a thousand companions, these would've been the people he chose. Wylan in Rule of Wolves: Brekker get the FUCK off my porch, no you may not borrow my boyfriend to commit crimes, get a fucking job and also get a haircut while you're at it.
