Its a reference to kamen rider, the original ones being men turned to cyborgs who could transform into armored heroes with suits themed on bugs, mostly Grasshoppers. Lokix shiny is a reference to kamen rider Zero-one one of the more recent kamen riders, whose base form is Grasshopper themed, and he even has a few direct design references to ichigou and nigou, the first two kamen rider

I'm sorry guys I didn't warm up to this thing Its design feels somehow...messy to me and I'm never quite sure what I'm looking at Its second pair of legs are backfolded? They're blades it jumps with...? what's the petal shape on its torso...? The torso looks so weirdly fragmented with the head kinda looking glued on...?

I don't know, I didn't really like any of the bug Pokemon introduced in this Gen. Prehistoric Volcarona is cool tho
