- season 2 is really starting to take it's form now and it's getting really good

- i cried SO MUCH in this episode

- i still don't know why this show is called high school musical so much high school musical songs that could be used (yes GOTTA GO MY OWN WAY)

- so i was totally shocked because i thought that the big red problem was that he didn't want to be at the pizza place so good turn out that HE WANTS TO BE IN THE PIZZA PLACE, and i love it it fits his character so much

- and i also think that what ashlyn did was cute, she thought that he had a problem with it, specially because at the end of the end ashlyn it's a caswell and man these caswells are overachievers

- but the minute she realized that she was wrong she went there to fix stuff, and you know that's the couple that we need that can talk about stuff, it's a healthy relationship it kinda reminds me of finchel, where she is the one with big plans

- also the redlyn scene with ricky, the cutest and definitely realize ashlyn see big red as the way that big red sees big red if that makes sense

A replay of the Royal wedding of King Liam and Queen Carsyn of Cordonia was playing in the background as she packed her clothes in the small carryon. She giggled when they kissed. Although it was rumored that the king was into black women, something seemed off when he kissed his bride. She had watched this wedding a half dozen times and still couldn’t really put her finger on it. She was headed to New York to stand up in the wedding of one of her sorority sisters. After landing her dream job in Dallas, Riley couldn’t wait to meet her sorors in New York to celebrate. After all, Norah was about to marry the man of her dreams and Riley was truly happy for them. 

There was currently no man in Riley’s life and no prospects. Maybe she’d meet someone in Dallas or maybe she was destined for the life of a career woman. Maybe there would be no happily ever after for her. She turned out the lights in her new downtown Dallas apartment, and grabbed her carry on dragging it to the door as she headed to the airport. 

She opened the door to see her latest amazon purchase on the door mat. She took a moment to retreat inside to open the box. She was hoping it was delivered before she had to head out. Her pink Bedroom Kandi toy was still packed away lost in the sea of boxes crammed into her guestroom. She knew that she would not survive this long weekend in NYC without some form of sexual entertainment. She was disappointed when she opened the box to find her new toy was smaller than the picture made it look. Her flight left in 2 hours and her uber was downstairs so she shoved the disappointing toy in the side of her bag and headed down.  

After the uneventful three hour flight, she finally landed at JFK. Mack was supposed to pick her up from the airport. She stood to the side as people herded to baggage claim to send a quick text. A group of men came from the opposite direction. One was this tall, very attractive Asian guy who looked alot like King Liam. He was with a few other men but there was one in particular who caught her eye. He was beautiful, he had dark hair and the most beautiful blue-grey eyes. The guy who bore resemblance to King Liam smiled and winked at her, while his brooding friend who definitely glanced at her, kept moving. She was snatched from her day dream when Mack texted to say she was outside. 

They checked into the Crown Plaza in Manhattan, freshened up and changed into their little black dresses before meeting the girls at a local rooftop lounge for appetizers and drinks before the bachelorette party. 

The sounds of Dua Lipa’s “Don’t start now” played in the background and encouraged a slightly inebriated Lauren to shake her body on the empty dance floor. Still licking the wounds behind a very fresh break up she intended to use this weekend to drink her troubles away and vowed to nail a stranger. 

The hostess seated a group of gentlemen at the table directly behind the ladies giving Riley, who never sat with her back to the door the best look at the group. It was them. The men from the airport. When they were settled, Riley’s eyes met with the Asian guy’s who was smiling and licking his lips. She rolled her eyes and turned to Kourtney. 

“So, how is Gabrielle, is she two now?” 

“Yes, she’s great. Busy, but great. That was real smooth. You have an admirer.”

“Ugh, I saw those guys in the airport when I landed. He smiled at me then too.”

“But now there are two of them looking at you like you’re a steak.”

Riley coyly glanced at the group again, this time noticing the dark haired man looking. She blushed and turned back to Kourtney right as the server approached with a whiskey sour, complete with a phone number written on the cocktail napkin. 

“How did he know what you drink?”

“Girl, I have no idea. Should I drink this?”

“Sure, they wouldn’t have served it if it had been tampered with. But the real question is are you going to call him?” 

“Me? Noooo. What would I say?” 

“What do you have to lose?”

“Wait, you have never dated a white guy before have you?” 

“Well, no. Not that they aren’t attractive. I just never had one interested. Not all of us find our Prince Harry.” 

“You do now. Besides, Chris is no Prince Harry, but he does treat me like a queen. I have always wondered if there are people who would rather be alone than to date outside of their race. Chris is the best thing that ever happened to me.”

“I definitely would date outside of my race if it were the right person. He is gorgeous, I’m still not calling this guy. He’s going to think i’m desperate.”

“You are!”

“When was the last time you got laid? Mack told me about your toy.”

“Remind me to kill her later. It’s been 8 months, 3 weeks and 5 days. But who’s counting?”

Riley was disappointed to find the King Liam look alike.

“That’s too bad,” he said as he flashed her a sexy smile.

Just then she glanced across the rooftop to see him whisper something to his brooding friend. In an instant the guy with the beautiful eyes headed over and slipped the DJ a tip and whispered something in his ear before heading Riley’s way. 

“Kourt, shit! He’s coming over here what do I say?”

“Don’t. Let him do the talking.”

 He held out his hand and smiled at her and she was sure her panties were ruined.

“Hey, did I get your drink right?” he asked placing her hand in his.

“Actually, yeah you did. Impressive.”

Just then the DJ changed the song to Silk Sonic’s, “Leave the door open.”

The stranger pulled her to her feet.

“Let’s dance.”

His scent was intoxicating, his arms where strong and she could get lost in his eyes. He held her with a familiarity that made her feel at home in his arms.

“So are you going to tell me your name?”

“Drake. And you are?”

“Riley.” 

“We don’t have to talk right now. Let’s just dance. Just use my number when you’re ready.”  

“Their bodies swayed slowly to the song before her friends pulled her away to the next leg of their night.”

Two weeks later

After a very long weekend in New York, Riley was back in Dallas. She had been there for almost a month and hadn’t met anyone at all. Well, there was Will from work. But she doesn’t date co-workers and she is pretty sure he is gay. In her freetime she goes to the gym, and eats at new restaurants  a few times a week, which leads her back to the gym. After a particularly long work day, circuit training and an hour on the treadmill Riley came home and poured herself a very large glass of wine. She filled the tub, lit some jar candles and grabbed her toy and the romance novel that she was currently reading.

She was soaking in bubbles up to her neck when her phone rang, it was Kourtney. Out of all her friends she probably checked on Riley the most. She dried her hands and pressed the speakerphone button.

Hey Kourt,

Hey Ri, what’s new?

Not a thing, work, the gym, dinner, wine repeat.

That’s sad. No human interaction?

Not really. I’ve hung out with Mack and Ben twice but I always feel like a third wheel.

Riley was as lonely in Dallas as they come. She thought about online dating but wanted something more organic. Kourtney’s words lingered in the back of her mind. Maybe she was right. The next morning Riley sat on her balcony reading the paper and sipping amaretto flavored coffee when her phone rang.

Hey, I am running into church and I know it’s short notice but Ben is out of town next weekend and my college roommate is getting married down in Waxahachie. Please tell me you don’t have plans and you’ll be my plus one.

They catch up while they take the 30 minute drive out to the Walker Ranch where the ceremony is to be held. Mack talked about feeling like an after thought when it came to her boyfriend. Riley mentioned the need for human interaction, more specifically from a man and how the one man she met in New York lives in Europe. When they arrive Riley takes in the vast land and the beautiful event space. 

“Savannah’s family owns this ranch? Wow, it’s massive.”

“Yeah, I know at one time they were really struggling to keep things afloat. But it definitely looks like they are doing well for themselves now.”

“Right? I love when family businesses do well. It’s really a gorgeous day for an outside wedding. But we should probably take our seats. The ceremony will be starting soon.”

Mack led Riley to a couple seats on the bride's side. Before long a very serious looking groom and an officiant that Riley could only describe as a King Liam look-a-like stood under a wedding trellis decorated with blush colored blooms. The violinist started to play a beautiful arrangement as the attendants began to descend the aisle. 

“All rise and receive the bride.”

They guess all stood and turned to receive Savannah. She was a stunning bride. Then Riley laid eyes on those hypnotic blue-grey eyes. She instantly broke out into a sweat. She couldn’t ever mistake those eyes for someone else’s. He was as beautiful as the first tine she saw him. She swallowed hard and her mouth went dry. Her heart seemed to be pounding out of her chest, she was shaking when she gave Mack’s hand a firm squeeze. 

“What’s wrong Ri?”

Before she could answer, his eyes met hers, he bit his lip and her knees buckled. 

“Um Ri?”

“It’s Drake from the rooftop in New York..”

Alright, so. I ship Ricky with Therapy (Rickerapy) and Gina with Happiness (Hapina). That’s my final stance for a while. I’m very curious on where they take Portwell. If Rina’s gonna happen then...I’m honestly not sure how I feel about it? Like I still enjoy the idea of Rina, and it’ll be a lot better than Rini (I think) but...no guy is worth that much pain and heartache Gina’s dealing with. 

I guess if Ricky ends up working through his fear of change, learns better communication skills, and accepts/confronts his own feelings a lot better and treats Gina like the amazing person she is and makes it up to her then maaaaaaaaaaybe I’ll be on board with Rina in the end.

But yea, I’m definitely vibing more with Portwell rn.

Also, Nini deciding to live for herself. It’s such a good peak for her arc this semester I’m pretty happy.

Finally, while I’m giving Ricky a lot of shit, as I said in my previous live!blog--I still like his character and everything is very consistent with what we’ve seen from season 1. If anything, I’m really excited to see his arc come to a head and what comes after!

Big Red birthday party hcs + Ricky & Ashlyn chaotic friends + confused EJ

Anon, you do not disappoint bc I said "ask me this" and you said "YES AND" and made it better

and I hope this lives up to that!

Big Red's birthday is in summer, so of course, Ashlyn decides to throw a huge party for him

She enlists Ricky's help, who is PUMPED to help his new bestie Ashlyn throw a party for his forever bff

Also... Big Red and Ricky never really had a friend group so they stopped having birthday parties when they were like 12

Now they have the theater club and Ashlyn, it’s time to party, which Ashlyn entirely supports

Because Big Red deserves a huge party with all his friends celebrating him

Ricky knows NOTHING about planning parties but he's got the spirit!!

Ashlyn decides to have it at Slices because it's the last place big red would expect, since its the most obvious

Big Red's parents are VERY on board with the idea

Ricky wanted a skate party because he and Big Red always talked about having one

But Ashlyn made a good point that Big Red and Ricky are the only ones who know how so it might not be as fun for everyone else, so Ricky throws himself into the pizza party

(But she makes a mental note to have everyone get the basics of skating so when she plans Ricky's birthday party in a few months, they're prepared)

Like Carlos's birthday, it's an all hands on deck event

Gina and Ricky are put in charge of decorations because they are the most crafty, Howie and Kourt are in charge of food, Carlos is in charge of games, Nini and EJ are tasked with making a playlist, Seb helps Ashlyn with setup and keeping tabs on everyone else's progress

Gina and Carlos also learn and choreograph a tap number because they can

Ricky and EJ get put in charge of distracting Big Red while the rest of the gang sets up Slices

The distraction is EJ asking Big Red and Ricky to teach him how to skate

EJ doesn't know why, of all the things, THIS had to be the distraction, but he rolls with it

(Ashlyn assures him the basic knowledge of skating will come in handy later - for Ricky's birthday)

It goes...okay...

Ashlyn had made Ricky and EJ swear to keep Big Red at the skatepark "no matter what" until it was time

And they did!

They were having a good time, but Big Red started getting bored

So in an attempt to get Big Red invested again, Ricky did something stupid, which resulted in him and EJ running into each other, HARD

And of course, THAT was when Big Red's phone rang with a frantic phone call from Kourtney asking him to help out at Slices "last minute"

EJ was wearing Ricky's helmet and is mostly fine - a little banged up

Ricky though face-planted and got a black eye, but also generally fine

So Big Red is trying to explain to Kourtney that he might not be able to come to Slices because he might need to take Ricky to the ER to see if he has a concussion

Which goes over well

"Oh, Gina's gonna kill me" "Pretty sure she and Ashlyn are gonna kill me" "I mean... at least it wasn't your wrist this time?"

They are a couple that Tim should be taking notes from; leave the relationship drama in the background, focus on the theatre and friendship aspect of everything)

Overall thoughts; they really crammed all the North High drama into one ep huh. Personally would have liked it if all of this was spread out throughout the last few episodes; like different hijinks for every episode. I'm just a big fan of properly setting up the overall arc over the season instead of patching it together closer to the climax/end of the show. Cos now it lowkey feels like two different seasons - 2A felt like The Rini/Rina Show esp with YAC storyline and whatever was going on with Rina and now 2B is finally feeling like what this season should have been all this time

In a way, he believed he was closer  to his father.  His mother did say to him, “Your father always liked the darkness so much, so much that fire was something he despised.”  

His powers over manipulating shadows occurred at the age of 14, when he had gotten into a fight with his little sister.  They got into an argument. She insulted him for being born of a demon, while she is fully-blooded Outworlder, and Remington, angered by the fact, crafted a knife made out of pure shadow and stabbed her in the shoulder, darkness slipping inside her body. It made her ill and tired for days.  When he kills others or senses a kill, he can feel their soul leave this realm and pass to the Netherrealm.

,Remington's title was able to get him into the deeper part of royal politics to get close to the Kahn as part of the royal court,. So he was there for it all. Mileena's rise to the throne , and Kotal's coup to usurp the throne.  He once aided Mileena, but then chose to be with the Osh-Tekk.

He has always been one for getting what he wanted, and that's not just because of his title.  If it had anything to do with power, appearance, anything,  he uses his charms and silver tongue to have things work in his favor. He has a need for control, to have things go his way.  Clothes ironed where there is not a single wrinkle in the fabric, hair combed to the right to accent his face,  everything to standard. If it is not up to his idea, he will ensure that it is perfected.  

ROLE IN IRIS'S LIFE

While Remington was aware that he may not live forever, he knew that there some secrets from other realms. Such as Sorai when it was merged, known for inhabiting dragons.  Hybrids together can make someone practically immortal. But Remington wanted to know the secrets to their longevity, not just for himself but for Kotal's  soldiers during the rise of the civil war created by Mileena, the former Kahnum.  So, upon finding out the young princess was looking for a betrothal, he sought out the opportunity, even if she was at the bottom of the royal food chain.  

“She is, by far, the most beautiful woman I've ever laid eyes on. Fair skin decorated with freckles the color of cinnamon, wavy hair red as the flames I know she inherits. A voice as melodic as a symphony. And her eyes, so bright, it's if you are staring  into hell itself. And her personality, too. It's too . . . wild. Innocent. Ah, she's perfect. Perhaps she's the one who knows.” - Remington seeing Iris for the first time

At first, Remington only “liked” Iris for the assumption she knows something about Soraian lifespan, putting up the act that he is genuinely interested, going through the typical stages of courting, flowers, compliments, taking her to events. But then he noticed things about her, her beauty, her attitude, the crown. The Crown. Sure, being  a part of Kotal's Kourt is well fun and all, but nothing compared to having the secrets of a long forgotten race, have this kingdom of the last of the Soraians, dragons.

He realized that he could shape her to his image of the perfect bride. She's young, so her mind could be easily warped to fit his design. She'll agree to him, listen and love him. If she showed her defiance, responses would be anger lacing his tone, or fierce grabbing by the arms or face, leaving thumbprint-shaped bruises on her skin to get his point across, sometimes using his powers to amplify the pain.  And during their courtship, to public eye their relationship looked like the perfect power couple, but alone with Iris, he scolded,  mocked her. Chose her outfits, limited her interactions with friends, dismissed her choice of clothing and opinion, made her choose when to be quiet.  Chipped the pieces away that made her the strong and confident type, into someone  who had low views of herself.

As things were getting serious, with Iris losing parts of what made her who she was prior to meeting him, he planned how to have the kingdom all to himself.  But first, he needed what he came here for: the secrets. Believing Iris was lying to him, he hired Kano to beat the information out of her when he finishes planning his attack on the palace.  If, by some miracle, she'd survive, he'd make her his bride with her now conquered kingdom. Then her friend Mia stumbled on his meeting coming to an end with the assassins, and eliminated her from the picture to keep her quiet. Her death drove Iris closer to him, where he further continued to make her into his design.  When the palace was attacked and she was supposedly 'dead,' Remington began to obsess over her, thinking of how a beautiful queen she would have been, and how she will belong to her always.

So, months later upon hearing of Iris's return, he grew enraged. He expected her death to happen should she not have anything to say, but he did picture alive for months. Remington decided, after arranging a meeting with her in the throne room, to reveal what he had done, saying it was for his own interest. She was easy prey; and he didn't expect to like her, much less love her to a point she infects his waking thought.

“Marry me. Marry me, and your family will be free. You'll be safe.” He whispers ever so sweetly that it tastes like venom. “No one will hurt you. You will be my Queen. If not, you'll be executed for abandoning your kingdom.” - Remington.

After throwing her into the dungeon for her kicking him in the chin, he attempted to convince her to marry him or she would die at the first sign of dawn. Her family, her life would be spared if only she just agreed, and it should have been so easy. But Iris refused, no matter what he said, even when he choked her, nearly cutting off her air with his thumb at her windpipe. As she rejected him once again, he arranged for her death, until she tried to escape the very next morning.  Since she wanted to run, she'll die doing just that: running for her life. He sent her to the coldest region, not caring where, and two assassins to torment and kill her.

If he couldn't have her, no one will.

HER RETURN & HIS DEATH

“Son of a bitch.. How can she be alive? It's if I have to do it myself. However . . .  I am admiring the look. Muscle accents her arms, her face has lost the baby fat. The bangs on her forehead are swept to the side, exposing the scar I gave her. Her eyes are more beautiful since I've dreamed of them late in the night, and there's something about them. Vibrant red hair is turned into a braid, resting on her shoulder. She is so beautiful.” -Remington

When Remington saw her again after three years, he was completely enamored with her, and surprised by her saying she would marry him within a month's time.  That she had said she loved him, would be his wife, even mentioning her fallen family. Which weren't really fallen, much to his chagrin. When he was waiting for the assassins to come back, his mother and sister had apparently freed her family from their prison and had them in Outworld. He didn't bother to go after them, since he managed to get some information on Soraian blood, how powerful it could be.

For the past 31 days, Remington was very pleased with the new Iris. She was more docile, calm,  demure, sweet. At dinners, breakfasts, lunches, she always gave him a smile, or occasionally  graze her shoulder against his. In public, she gave him kisses on the cheek. She was so agreeing to everything, while they planned the wedding. Finally, he had her in the shape he wanted her. This perfect bride, perfect wife. Until the day of their wedding, that is. Before they even said I do, there was a knife in his shoulder, ensuing a fight.

He was infuriated being fooled by her, not holding back with his shadows to attack her, using shadow monsters to hold her back while he attacked. He certainly didn't expect her to be trained in the arts of kombat, knowing how to evade and use her fire to slice through his creations. To even the playing field, he sent them to the Nether, in a dark area of the realm, where the shadows obey him. He had the advantage, not giving Iris a chance to get a strike in before he had her on the ground.

“Doesn't this bring me back... Oh, that's right. That's the face your little friend made before she met the fatal blade. Guess you two were like sisters, after all. A shame, my Rainbow. You would have been an amazing queen.”

He leaned down, pressing a b l o o d y kiss against her lips, inhaling as he formed a knife out of pure darkness. But before he could do that, Iris slammed her skull against his, and retaliated with wave of fire coming towards him, knocking him flat on his ass. When she dug her hands into his chest, he screamed out, trying to stop her, screaming that she will regret it. The last thing he saw was her clutching his still beating heart in her hands with a sadistic smile.

Even though he had died, Remington's words and actions upon her still impacts her on a daily basis. Giving her  insecurities about herself, confidence doesn't seem to be strong. Occasionally, she will rub a scar above her right eyebrow, where he hit her with his shadows. It is the only place on her body that feels cold. He made her extremely cautious to expose her heart to others she feels a romantic connection to, fearing they would use it against her. Nightmares will plague her in the night, of him coming back to life, choking her, finishing the fight she started. After his death, she feared her own shadow, thinking he could hide in them.
