Thank you so very much for sharing this image with the world. I think Aaliyah would have had fun with some of the Snapchat filters today.

Passwurdz and Daylyt. [16] Locksmith met his childhood friend Left on the basketball court of their junior high school. [3] In 1996, the two formed The Frontline. In 2002, the duo appeared on the Watch Out Now mixtape, along with several other Bay Area rap prospects, one of which was Oakland rapper Balance. [4] In December 2002, Locksmith and Balance appeared for the entire duration of a Saturday night broadcast of The Wake Up Show on KMEL, hosted by Sway Calloway, King Tech and DJ Revolution. Astonished by their performances, Sway commented, "These cats don't sound like regular Bay Area dudes." To which, Balance responded, "It's a New Bay."[17] Led by The Frontline and Balance at the forefront, the New Bay movement included The Team, Mistah FAB, The Federation, Certified Ryders, San Quinn,
F.E., and Esinchill. [18] It gained further momentum in 2003 following Locksmith's appearance on MTV's MC Battle in which he shouted out the "New Bay" in front of a nationwide audience. [4][18]
In February 2004, The Frontline signed a deal with E-A-Ski's label IMG. Between 2002 and 2004, the duo had released three mixtapes.

you alluded to this but I think it was a big mistake to name bitubi company after the group. it automatically created company stans and predictably a lot of people seem to be totally unable to separate bitubi from the company, I've seen someone asking if kwang is the ceo. subie/yook's companies get hate unprovoked even when they've arguably been far more competent than bitubi company (in fantagio's case we're solely talking about subie lol).
well, from the company's point of view they have a reliable permanent shield from criticism so the name has clearly worked for them...
we already have bicom stans saying the concert date debacle is all fantagio's fault or that subie/yook's merch is expensive when prices are virtually identical across the companies, wild
(as a cherry on top there's even drama right now about the new lightstick being tweeted from bitubi company's account vs the main @officialbitubi which is still used, while subie/yook's accounts ignored it)
I bet majority of imels would never ever admit to missing blue box (meanwhile I've already seen kmels saying this), the narrative is that they've been ~thriving~ since leaving, which I'd say applies more to the two not in bitubi company lol
i agree with everything you said
this reminds me of lilly lashes, an influencer company that made quality fake eyelashes and when the owner tried to branch out into making makeup products, she started to regret not naming her brand something different. some of influencers brands used the '[name] beauty' formula and it's boring but market research whatnot proves it's a decent choice
see i was rooting for them but i can't deny there are issues and maybe the amount of bad decisions being made hints at larger issues happening beyond our sight... it's kinda maddening to me that it seems like someone didn't do their homework. enough senior groups went independent already, this is not a new territory. they could very well avoid all these missteps.......
blue box treated them poorly even tho bitubi were the ones that saved it from tanking after bęast left but what do i know 🫣 but they never got their flowers for grinding
mellos are particularly good at lying through their teeth about the reality of things and i will leave it at that 🫡
subie hit career peak and it's not stopping, yook released cool solo music... i hate to say it but i didn't pay the 90 line unit much attention 🫣

Amplify Color episode covers the career of Sway Calloway
Warner Music Group's in-house podcast network, Interval Presents, debuted the latest episode of its newest series, "Amplify Color" hosted by Ryan Cameron, a 2x Emmy winner, the host of “Voice of Atlanta,” a member of the Georgia and Black Radio Hall of Fame, and long-time Atlanta DJ.
In this most recent episode, Ryan Cameron discusses the fascinating life of Bay Area’s own Sway Calloway. Sway Calloway began his career as a rapper but all that changed when he landed his first radio gig co-hosting a show on San Francisco’s KMEL. At the time, the Oakland music scene was bubbling up with acts like E-40 and Too Shoot gaining local acclaim. But the scene was constantly overshadowed by Los Angeles and New York City. Sway brought the Bay to the USA. And not just to the airwaves, but as a news correspondent on MTV – a move that opened doors and landed Sway some of the biggest interviews any disc or video jockey has ever seen. Produced by Double Elvis, the 14-episode “Amplify Color” series tells the stes of how trailblazers like Big Boy, Tom Joyner, Robin Quivers and more have left an undeniable impact on the radio industry. The next upcoming episodes will discuss the life of iconic TV host Wendy Williams and host of The Breakfast Club, Charlamagne tha God. ****************************************************************** The tragedy of Layleen Polanco on Rikers iHeartPodcasts has released a new podcast calledAfterlives: The Layleen Polanco Story. Known to light up a room, Layleen Xtravaganza Cubilette-Polanco was an Afro-Latina trans woman in New York City who was sentenced to the city’s notorious jail complex on Rikers Island and died there in 2019 at the young age of 27. On June 7th, 2019, Layleen Polanco suffered an epileptic seizure while in confinement and was rendered no medical aid by staff for nearly an hour, which could have saved her life. Sadly, but not surprisingly, no one was held responsible for Layleen’s preventable death.
Host Raquel Willis celebrates Layleen’s vibrant life through memories from her family of origin and the community she discovered in New York’s famed ballroom scene, while also unpacking the systems that failed Layleen leading up to her incarceration. Learn more about Layleen’s story and the fight that continues in her name today and every Monday.

another loooong bitubi Affairs update for your pleasure(?): 4tob is doing a concert and 2 out of 3 dates overlap with both of subie's solo tour dates in suwon. 4tob announced their dates a month after ticketing for subie ended, so if you already have tickets for subie you have to cancel to see 4tob, yike
kmels were furious, not only for the implied disrespect against subie/fans who now have to choose subie vs 4tob, but for pouring fuel on the dumpster fire that's the fandom right now lmao
there were also fights about whether it's even a big deal to have clashing concerts, people saying it's nbd because it's just a few tour dates (suwon is subie's hometown show though...), and inevitable since the group is split between agencies.... others saying yes it's actually weird and uncommon for CONCERTS (as opposed to smaller schedules) to overlap within an idol group
AND there's a debate about whether 4tob should have a unit name. the argument is that subie/yook are bullied for 'disloyalty' every time 4tob promotes without them, and nonfans ask if they've left since it says bitubi but there's only 4 of them lmao. a separate name could help alleviate confusion and the blame game, I guess. kwang said before that they decided not to make one, but fans in favor say it should be reconsidered since subie/yook got so much hate this year
bitubi company then released a statement saying 4tob are ~protecting~ the bitubi name (many kmels hated this bc it's exactly how subie/yook antis talk) so they won't use a unit name, and that they'd planned the winter concert back when they made the company (but in july/august kwang said there was nothing in december and ticketing opened very late). it pissed off fans even more and I hear many of them are pretty much boycotting, while a lot of (korean) subie-biased ot6 stans quietly became solo stans
so now the 4tob concert is flopping, there's literally a third of the floor tickets left for all 3 days and I think it's only ~2k seats total per day 😬 additionally, bitubi company apparently really needs $$$ and jacked up ticket prices, adding ₩200k photo op/soundcheck packages like in overseas shows (which kmels are absolutely insulted by)
now there's a whole bitubi company stans vs haters divide, I'd say 95% of the haters are kmels, haters tend to be ot6 stans because most subie/yook solo stans gave up on the whole thing (but I think the fandom keeps trying to paint solo stans as the shit-stirrers...)
this all sounds so stupid written out, melody is even more in shambles than when I last wrote to you a few weeks ago lol. the fandom atmosphere is awful, some kmels seem to feel it's almost as bad as when runie left because holy shit has bitubi ever sold that poorly, and there's no resolution in sight :/
p.s. I'm 90% sure bitubi company's latest single cover art is AI lol
p.s.s. sorry this was so long!! I swear it underwent an editing process. don't feel you have to answer if it's too much!
yooo i always appreciate these, i don't mind the length! don't worry about it, thank you so much for taking the time to write this 🫡🥰
i hate to say this but i knew something like this is gonna happen... i'm checked out from the fandom news bc i stopped using twitter so this is brand new information™ like holy shit what a clusterfuck
it makes zero sense, is this self-sabotage??? who is giving bitubi company bad business advice hmmmmm
promoting after leaving og agency with everyone having a different agency (as in for example 7 members 7 agencies) must be easier than having 4 people in one agency named after og group and 2 others flying solo
even senior groups like shinhwa had hard time running their own company (was it 2 years ago that eric and dongwan were beefing on ig lmao) and i would go as far as to say they always had larger and more reliable fanbase. i always prayed on highlight downfall and tbh their numbers look okay but i wish there was an 'adjust to inflation' calculator for kpop albums...
now that () decided to continue being in blue box i bet there's a % of fans that regret that btob left... they have to build their own company from the ground up and it's not like "parent" agency isn't fully established if you ask me, it's backed by samsung iirc but samsung ain't doing too well right now so. pentagon is a different case cause cube gave up on them right at the start of 2022 and those who left are better off, they didn't hold big concerts or anything, meanwhile btob as more successful group had more to lose and welp
yea it does look ai-generated :((
