i hate when ppl act like the only reason to not like a "sad" ending is because you can't take it or whatever. personally as a tragedy enjoyer, i hate a poorly written ending. i hate an ending that is just kind of a bummer. i hate an ending that feels mean-spirited to the audience. i hate an ending that's redundant. i love a sad ending that is thematically consistent, poignant, and bespoke to the rest of its narrative.

This week, I had the bad idea to dive back into this story, to rewatch certain excerpts. And the more I tasted it, the more I wanted to dive back in a little more. And the more I felt that tension again, that desire, that joy, but also that melancholy because I know how it ends.

So I reread some fanfic, and boy, was this community effective, inventive, and above all, so gifted at instilling the essence of its characters.

So much better than what we've been offered. And even with these elements, even with this sometimes unfinished or character-detached material, some were able to create unforgettable moments.

Tonight, I would like to thank all the people who have continued and continue to bring this world to life, to make us vibrate and to compensate for the loss, the void that Eve and Villanelle left behind.
