The SR-71 Blackbird
The SR-71 spy plane, the most advanced member of the Blackbird family that included the A-12 and YF-12, was designed by a team of Lockheed personnel led by Clarence “Kelly” Johnson, then vice president of Lockheed’s Advanced Development Company Projects, commonly known as the “Skunk Works” and now a part of Lockheed Martin. The Blackbird completed its first flight on Dec. 22, 1964.
SR-71 Blackbird crew Vs North Korean regime
As told by Paul Crickmore in his book SR-71 Blackbird Combat Legend, in 1981 U-2 and SR-71 sorties began collecting ELINT and other data on a suspected SA-2 surface-to-air missile (SAM) site which was under construction on the island of Choc Tarrie in an estuary near the western end of Korea’s DMZ.
The North Koreans were preparing to shoot missiles in the airspace of an area that had been declared by both sides NEUTRAL.
Nevin Cunningham and Gino Quist, US Air Force (USAF) SR-71 crew, wanted to give their own personal response.
Flying the SR-71 #967 on a two Loop sortie of the DMZ on Aug. 25, 1981, Nevin flicked on the fuel dump switch during a final pass and in quick Morse code spelled out the four-letter expletive:
“F**k” off to the North Korean regime.
North Korean ground trackers who were ATTEMPTING to follow the SR-71 visually were watching. This message they were sending sure did provide lots of laughs back at the Habu’s bar at Kadena Air Base.
The very next day they attempted to shoot down the SR-71 Blackbird flown by Murray Rosenberg and Ed McKim with an SA-2.
Coincidence? Maybe. Or maybe not.

WHO'D YOU RATHER?: 100 MALE ACTORS EDITION
A game I often spring on friends who are as obsessed with pop culture as I am is Who'd You Rather?. The terms are loose and we usually do it as a progression (so your last choice is often pitted against a new one). It's light fun but my diabolical goal is usually to torture someone with a choice of nearly equal weight (like I did to myself with the first two selections).
Sharing this here in case anyone would like to join in 😊 My own picks are in bold. If anyone has a round or two for me, feel free to add it in the comment section.

“As art historian Christopher Reed argues, ‘The Wilde trials seemed to reveal homosexuality as the secret behind the enigmatic passions of the Aesthetes, tainting the entire movement, all of its products, and even the idea of aesthetic sensitivity.’
Indeed, the modern identities of ‘the homosexual’ and ‘the artist’— both considered manifestations of innate predispositions—developed nearly simultaneously in the nineteenth century, as both creating art and committing sodomy moved from activities to ways of being. ‘Artistic’ quickly became euphemistic slang for ‘queer.’ Painter Paul Cadmus remembered how the association had transferred to the American scene by the 1930s. ‘They just said, ‘He’s an artist.’’ American psychiatrists, too described men suspected of homosexuality as ‘aesthetic in temperament.’ Thus when [Bob] Mizer [influential founder of the homoerotic Physique Pictorial magazine] adopted this language, praising [artist George] Quaintance for his ‘neo-aestheticism’ and imagining his audience as ‘the limited aesthetic group,’ he was signaling to and helping construct a distinct gay identity among his readers.”
David K. Johnson, Buying Gay: How Physique Entrepeneurs Sparked a Movement

Americans are having less sex, whether they’re teenagers or in their 4Os. One of the most comprehensive sex studies to date — the National Survey of Sexual Health and Behavior — found evidence of declines in all types of partnered sexual activity in the U.S. Over the course of the study from 2OO9 to 2O18, those surveyed reported declines in penile-vaginal intercourse, anal sex and partnered masturbation.
Average relative annual declines in the prevalence of each behavior— except for weapon carrying—ranged from 1–6%. The structure of the latent factor was mostly unchanged over time, with notable exceptions related to differential changes in prevalence for cigarette and cannabis use. Between 1999 and 2O17, the mean of the latent factor declined by between O.54 and O.73 standard deviations.
Results suggest that much of the decline in the prevalence of substance use, delinquent, and sexual behaviors among American youth from 1999–2O17 reflect an approximately two-thirds standard deviation decline in the mean of a latent risk behavior factor.

Much of America looks suburban, with neighborhoods of single-family homes connected by roads to retail centers and low-rise office buildings. For the first time, government data confirm this. According to the newly released 2O17 American Housing Survey (of nearly 76,OOO households nationwide), about 52 percent of people in the United States describe their neighborhood as suburban

Being something of an economic fundamentalist, I've been quite blind to the fact democratic politics - along with commerce and technoscience - involves a massive numerization of social processes. Quite apart from the usual arguments for democracy, there is a 'case for democratization' proceeding entirely from the promotion of qabbalistic cultural decoding.
In striking contrast to every other political arrangement evidenced in history, democracy numerizes power, subordinating authority to number, with would-be dominant ideas compelled to legitimate themselves in terms of quantitative 'ratings' of approval. The incomprehensible complexity of erotic 1O-K readings the social whole is subjectively appropriated through simple numerical indices - with percentages overwhelmingly predominant. The individual as democratic 'unit' thus functions the contemporary world disorder (what CNN was for Baurdrillard and pomo fuzz-death of the Oddubbian universe back in the 9O's)
