It’s been an emotional week as the better part of our nation (and all over the world) comes together in one of the biggest movements against racial injustice and systemic racism ever! So hard to focus on anything else and I really hope we keep this movement going and see real change in equality!

We hear, we see you, and we stand with you! I mourn ALL the lives needlessly lost and promise to check my own privilege and am dedicated to educating myself to be a better ally.

My latest #blm portrait is of 18 year-old Michael Brown who was shot by police in Ferguson, Missouri back in 2014 (just 8 days after graduation) which sparked widespread protests and the rally cry “hands up don’t shoot.” 🖤 He was an amateur rap musician under the handle “Big Mike” and here’s some lyrics from the last song he posted before he died: “On My side of town when the sun go down you in trouble now. Devil get off my back I’ll knock you off your feet, another man down in my city why people so petty...” 🎤🎶What’s really remarkable about his legacy is that both his parents have set up foundations in his honor to help support youth, families, parents, and communities.
