okay not to be sad again bc last time i was just having a meltdown but this is more of like #therealme but i think maybe other autistic people will understand this, but like when you have *the revelation* and it's just the most awful feeling ever, like answers are supposed to feel good but sometimes they don't, like i've been sitting here wondering for months why it's so hard for me to have engagement beyond notes (i.e. having people like me, not just my writing). i've wondered why it's so hard for me to gain online friends while it seems easier for other people, and even when i do it seems so short-lived. i just realized that no amount of analysis of what people post and when etc. will ever get me to some sort of magic formula to make people love me.

why is it so hard for me to make friends? autism

it should've been a pretty fucking easy answer considering that's the case in real life

it connects all of the other analyses too. i thought 'oh, i must feel more left out in this space because people are a different age or i'm the only gay person' etc etc etc. um no it's autism. it's pretty simple actually. it just sucks that as much as i try to get away from it, i can't.

so once me and my wife were watching a documentary where a snake ate like a million eggs. that snake just went to fucking town on eggs. and the snake made the eggs look so good that i kept thinking about it, and thinking about it, and thinking about it, and eventually it was 11pm and i ran out of willpower and decided to eat one (1) singular raw egg just to prove to myself that the snake was surely a liar.

the snake was not a liar. texture is like, super important to me and raw eggs are very Texture so i had another one, and then another one, and then another one, and eventually i ran out of eggs.

i had like, fifteen raw eggs.

i didnt really know how to explain this momentary madness to my wife, so my Plan was to put all the eggshells into a grocey bag, and then throw that grocery bag in the dumpster, and if she never noticed that would be Excellent and if she noticed immediately i could lie and say that the eggs went bad.

except i cant lie very good, and of course with murphys law being such, i got salmonella.

so i threw up a lot and my wife asked me what poisoned me so and i tried very hard to dodge the question but i was oozing shame like oil from a room temperature cheese and eventaully i gave in and told her everything and to her enormous credit she was more flabbergasted than actually upset. she did make me promise to not eat any more raw eggs, which i have stuck to, and she gives me weird looks during nature documentaries now as if desire was the only thing keeping me from eating thousands of pounds of krill anyway i made a joke earlier about being able to eat my age in eggs and my sister in law in law made a drawing to comemorate the moment and also because it was my birthday. she's excellent. thank you 10000000% @cintailed. you should all visit her page and admire her work.

the fact that shakespeare was a playwright is sometimes so funny to me. just the concept of the "greatest writer of the English language" being a random 450-year-old entertainer, a 16th cent pop cultural sensation (thanks in large part to puns & dirty jokes & verbiage & a long-running appeal to commoners). and his work was made to be watched not read, but in the classroom teachers just hand us his scripts and say "that's literature"

just...imagine it's 2450 A.D. and English Lit students are regularly going into 100k debt writing postdoc theses on The Simpsons screenplays. the original animation hasn't even been preserved, it's literally just scripts and the occasional SDH subtitles.txt. they've been republished more times than the Bible
