this has been a roller coaster of a design journey but finally I can present you: class swap artificer!adaine and rogue!fabian

#dimension 20 #fantasy high #fhfy #fhsy #fhjy #fabian seacaster #adaine abernant #fh class quangle #goodbye... goodbye hoodie kid adaine..... we have mecha pilot/power armor adaine instead #I couldnt really land how she'd get a hoodie reliably in freshman year given the abernants pattern of confiscating shit from her #so I kinda switched gear and dug a bit into a like sukeban aesthetics instead. and since shes with the AV club I like the idea of #like a radio coord thing for her. hence the suspenders #I fully admit the sukeban thing is influenced by the hacker woman in ghostwire tokyo who I have a small crush on #she's SO cool. too bad about a number of things with that game #the jacket of useful things is a racer jacket this time bc Im predictable like that #her ensemble in junior year is her tank top + overall it might not be clear enough in the pic...#just had the thought ''man I should do turnarounds for all of them'' and immediately had to slap myself out of it #anyways uh! fabian I have inflicted with my favourite thing to do to characters who like to stealth or fly under the radar #which is Bright Extremely Noticeable Jacket That Hides Your Hands #fabian's ghost motif has led me to the famous horror movie trope of silhouette with iconic jacket from afar #(see Sinister and Alice Sweet Alice)#and I love to imagine him hanging the coat up somewhere and opponents aiming there instead of at him #but also the raincoat is specifically modeled after the yellow fisherman's raincoat #and. that led to. me thinking abt fabian pulling riz up at that cliff with a net instead of the battle sheet lmao #so his junior year design is fully Fishing. which is so fucking funny it has obliterated all other possibilities from my brain #ranger flavour: captain ahab #I still debate making him carry around an actual fishing rod tbh. right now Im giving him a rifle grappling hook thing #gods. just finished Nimona… DAMN does it feel good to watch such an openly queer movie man

#i haven’t read the graphic novel (though now I plan to!) so these are just my observations from the movie but #nimona is fucking trans & nonbinary man #like so fucking openly. refusing to answer balistair’s small minded questions and simply replying ‘i’m Nimona!’#chef’s kiss. absolutely fucking astounding. the nonbinary/genderqueer experience in a nutshell #you cannot and will not pin me down !#and obviously the major themes of being the odd one out among a whole society of people perceived as ‘normal’. wow that hit close to home!#and if the aggressively queer themes weren’t enough we have ambrosius and balistair too <3 like fuck yeah give us that on screen couple !#overall… enjoyed it so very much #a new comfort movie perhaps…..#oh and don’t think i missed that pride flag in the credits lmaooo absolutely iconic #jay rambles #nimona #nimona spoilers

following on from this. not to always bring marc into everything (sorry marc) but if assen 2015 had happened against jorge, valentino would have very likely pulled something similar again imo. rather than what he actually did, which is approach marc almost immediately for a nice normal friendly handshake and backing off during the podium celebrations. should be noted that during laguna seca '08, valentino was very much committed to yapping at casey on the podium with the world's biggest smuggest grin on his face

partly that disparity is because jorge not marc was the direct title rival, partly it's because valentino was treating marc with kid gloves right until the second that he wasn't, which marc was seemingly entirely oblivious to. if anyone other than marc had said what he said in that presser, had then continued on with similar rhetoric during sachsenring, valentino would quite likely have gone nuclear. he's done it over less than that. his fondness for marc made him continue to exhibit uncharacteristic restraint... except that fondness unfortunately is what left valentino feeling so very betrayed when (to his eyes) marc could not leave well enough alone

#it's so delightfully tragic isn't it. a lot of 2015 played out the way it did because valentino genuinely wasn't looking for beef #but then felt backed into a corner and decided he had no other option than to blow this shit up #if casey says 'what I think is that we won the race' valentino would've torn him a new one then and there like...#if sete had called assen his best race of the season valentino would've reached for the chalk and incense even sooner #though fwiw I do think the relationship was basically doomed from that point. something would have happened sooner or later #2015 is so funny conceptually because there was already something *off* about it most of the way through. you have the familiar beats #but they shouldn't be HAPPENING with marc. they should be happening with the actual title rival - who vale never properly fought all season #assen 2015 should've been laguna should've been catalunya hell it should've been assen 2004 but it couldn't be #valentino kept accidentally inflicting the psychological blows on the wrong guy because jorge just refused to end up in a straight fight #assen SHOULD have been a pivotal race. but of course it couldn't be because what psychological blow was jorge lorenzo being dealt?#btw the unwillingness to beef doesn't just extend to marc. valentino makes a concerted effort to be uncharacteristically friendly to jorge #still think he would've rubbed assen in his face but. overall! he was trying! which again. very ironic #funhouse mirror ass season i love it dearly #//#brr brr #slowly dipping my toes into dropping 2015 hot takes on tumblr dot com... for so long these have been between me god and my google doc #i love jorge i think he's been involved in a lot of iconic battles i think it's funny not a single one of them happened in 2015 #minus kinda phillip island but even there it did feel like the other three were Doing More than him #also just a different vibe to a proper one-on-one. a WEIRD title run where the third man that whole year walks away with the trophy #idol tag

So, by the way, does anyone have sources for really solid historical documentation on traditional outfits from the SWANA region, especially before colonialism happened, and very preferably from first hand fashion researchers? I'm trying to build myself a small collection to understand what the hell I'm doing when I'll attempt redesigning OoT gerudos a little (keeping some elements but making them les… Like This), but a lot of what I find is from european scholars. If you have any book or series or text or anything that you think might be a staple of that particular subject, I'm super interested!

minor details, but in chapter 68 of trimax we do see this bit:

the items that vash kept in his coat.

a "funbari doll" (which i cant find anything definite online about what that is with just a cursory look, so im going to run under the assumption that theyre some kind of collectable in-universe) & it's a red one, which is apparently rare. he still has the same pen radio that connects to his earring that's used waaay back on the sandsteamer. a swiss army knife, a random key, a used tissue (?), and...

a lighter? blow torch? i still cant tell what that last bar thing is tho. & i guess he had some kind of (normal) coin too? but Only One.

love the characterization implications for this lol. definitely the kind of pocket contents i'd expect from a silly immortal with a big coat
