Goose, my beloved my bestie, if I want to get into the Fallout universe, where do I start and what do I need to know?? (pls infodump 🥰 I figured an ask post would be easiest so I don’t lose it)

i had to hop onto my laptop to type this out because i already know its going to be long xD

tbh it's pretty hard to play through the series chronologically because it's not really one consistent story: it's a bunch of different stories being told in the same setting. i think the best place to start kind of comes down to which you enjoy most: rpg elements, story, or gameplay.

the older games (like 1 & 2) grant you the most freedom as far as roleplaying goes, but their top-down aspect can be a little off-putting to some people, as well as (at least from personal experience) they're a lot less forgiving than the newer games. your build has to be pretty particular in the beginning if you want to survive combat. even if I'm playing a speech heavy character, i find that i have to tag unarmed/melee skills just to get through the tutorial sequence in the beginning of 2 if i want to survive the intro. a lot of people like them due to their rpg value. it feels like your choices really matter in the wasteland. compared to the later games, they're pretty lax with what they let you do. there's not really a lot of icons on the map telling you where to go or what to do. personally, i need a little more direction when playing a game, but i understand the appeal. out of all of the fallout games, 1 & 2 are probably the ones i have the least hours into out of all of them

fallout 3 and New Vegas are a little clunky with their combat systems but that can be blamed on their age (and probably nv's shorter development time). new vegas and 3 are quite different but im lumping them together because they came out around the same time. new vegas is a cult classic. probably the most (at least openly) loved of all the fallout games, and for good reason. the story felt like old fallout while using the same game engine as the newer one. a lot of the same people who worked on the first two fallouts went to work for obsidian (who developed new vegas) after black isle studios went under so they took a lot of their ideas for the original fallout 3 (which was meant to be another top down one set in California if I'm remembering correctly!) but made it into the 3d rpg style we know today. the combat can feel a little clunky in fnv, but if you want to play a game that has the feeling of "old fallout" with the gameplay of the newer ones, new vegas would be a good place to start

fallout 3 was the first game i got into back when it came out in like 2008 bc my brother had it for his old xbox xD. compared to 4 and new vegas, the capital wasteland is a lot less populated and more barren feeling than other games. supplies and ammo are rarer (assuming you don't know where to look for them) making the game feel like more of a struggle. it makes sense seeing as you start out as a squishy vault dweller who has never seen the wasteland before. story-wise it's pretty good. you can bypass like the first half of the main storyline by just making a beeline to where your dad is in vault 114(?? I'm blanking on the number rn so this might not be the right vault) and avoiding megaton altogether. i don't recommend doing this though because you will miss A LOT of worldbuilding and experience/levels. as far as rpg elements go, you can either be a savior of the wasteland or a real evil bastard depending on what you choose. it feels like you really make a difference for all the settlements/people you decide to help. part of my gripe with this game comes down to the ending. ill avoid spoilers as much as i can just in case you want to play through the game but im not a fan of games you cant continue playing after the ending especially when there's a workaround with one of the companions. overall fallout 3 is pretty enjoyable if you can look past the limitations of the game engine

If you want something that's a lot more forgiving during gameplay, but still feels like the wasteland, I'd start with fallout 4! the combat handles a lot better than 3 & new vegas, but as far as rpg elements go, you're kind of railroaded into the typical good-guy path which i personally don't mind because that tends to be my playstyle in games anyway lmaoooo. fo4 was one of the first "mainstream" fallout games so the story is made to appeal to a more general audience. it's not nearly as dark as the storyline of the earlier games although you can find these more ominous elements tucked away in terminals and environmental storytelling. this game has some of my favorite companions out of the entire series, and fo4 has one of my favorite dlc's out of the entire series which is Far Harbor. if you're into modding your games, the community for fo4 was still pretty active for it even before the show came out. i know a lot of fans of the series have a gripe with the storyline of this game in particular due to it railroading you down a certain path. not to mention, a lot of the actions you make in the commonwealth feel like they don't really change the outcome. however the gameplay is pretty forgiving to someone who hasn't played this series before. your starting stats aren't really the difference between life or death as they give you a lot of room for error. i personally really enjoy the settlement building system and i'd love to see it implemented in later games with tweaks to make it even better. I'm also pretty biased in what i say about fo4 because i have the most hours into it out of any of the other fallout games and it's very near and dear to my heart xD

also slightly related to fallout 4-- if you're looking for a youtuber with some amazing settlement ideas, i really like the creator IfThenCreate who has a whole ongoing series about different settlement builds around the commonwealth. she's very charming and her videos are very cozy and tbh i could listen to her for hours (which i probably actually have because her videos about sanctuary hills are like four hours combined xD). not all of her content is fallout related but at the moment she has probably one of my favorite fallout related series :3

tbh i can't really speak a whole lot about fallout 76. out of all of the games (ignoring tactics and the brotherhood of steel ones) it's probably the game i have the least hours into. as far as gameplay goes, it seems pretty solid. i enjoyed the way they did Appalachia, but I don't think this is the best game to start with if you're just getting into the series. 4 or new vegas is going to be a better place to start imo

if you have amazon prime I'd say start with the show ksdjfkj I've only seen the first two episodes (as of right now at least) but it looks amazing so far. it's the best way to dip your toes into the series without having to commit yourself to tens or hundreds of hours of gameplay xD

also if you get into the games prepare for them to crash. like a lot xD my poor old xbox one could barely handle downtown Boston in fo4 and while it's definitely better on my computer, it still struggles. i also tend to mod my games to hell so that might be part of my problem lmaoaoao. the games can be buggy at times (especially the Bethesda ones) but if you can look past that they're all pretty enjoyable

heyy aggy, just wanna start off by saying how i am so sorry for the hate you’ve been receiving. you honestly don’t deserve it like you’re litch my fav writer and i love your smau’s. idk how u do it but its like you put some sort of magic in your work to make it so funny yet entertaining.

anyway idek if this is where you’re supposed to send things like this (this is my first time writing on tumblr so idk how it works). anywho, i was thinking of writing my own fiction, (still unsure whether i want it written or smau or a mix of both) but tbh, idek how to set up a public profile and if i just post my first chapter immediately or do like an intro as my first post or smth 😭😭. so if possible, is it alright if you can give me some tips on like writing, posting and using tumblr and all that stuff.

also another issue i have is like time management 😅😅. like tbh i sorta roughly planned a fic based on jaehyuns songs dandelion & roses when they first got released. ive written a rough plan for fun and now idk i js feel like actually making it come to life despite it not rly being that original and possibly rly boring 😭. but let’s say i do make it happen, my school just loves giving me tests and projects during the same week and day !! so like idk if im gonna be dedicated enough yk

well the first step is always choosing a cute layout for your tumblr page, just make it your own whether it's your bias, favorite color, or something you like. your profile layout is the image of you basically.

when it comes to posts it depends on what you'r trying to plan. i started with a post like this to kinda make a base for my profile (i am obsessed with links) that post can direct people to different parts of your page and it's a way of letting readers know who you are and what you do!

when it comes to the actual writing: for smau's i typically make a masterlist post like this to kinda give a preview of what the smau is about, it's kinda like a teaser. also don't forget to add tags to ur post that way you can reach your target audience and make sure the certain fandoms reach your work! when it comes to writing fics or blurbs you can only pretty much rely on the tags, so you just have to rawdog it and post the fic 😭.

i feel like one of the issues i have when i post is "will someone actually want to read this?" and tbh you just gotta go for it 😭 there will always be works with similar themes or concepts and that's okay as long as you're not taking someone else's work! something like the enemies to lovers is a trope that is literally everywhere, it's just about making it your own! don't be scared to post just go for it and as you make more posts you'll get used to it and everything will just flow. sometimes there will be interactions and sometimes there won't be, and that's okay! it's about being proud of your work and continuing to grow as you go!

time management is also an issue for me and the most i can tell you is to understand that coming on here and writing should be something enjoyable for you not a chore, so when you have downtime you can come and make a post, you don't need to post consistently, sometimes a writer doesn't have all the time in the world and you should make it clear to your readers that you are busy and will post only when you have time! as long as you know you'll come back and continue your chapters or updating then it doesn't matter if you're gone for 2 weeks, those who grow to love you will stay and wait!

Hi, hello!

Um, I’ve been avoiding this intro bc I am a shy awkward hermit that usually just lurks and likes stuff, but that doesn’t really work on Tumblr so here I am! Plus I wanted to use Whumptober to force myself into sharing my writing and figured it might be useful to introduce myself first.

You can call me starlit, or anna, or hey you, I don’t really care lol. She/her pronouns. I love reading fantasy & fantasy romance, writing, and playing RPG video games when I have the time (usually fantasy based-are we sensing a theme here? 😂)

I tend to use emojis excessively, but don’t expect me to know the meaning of them beyond face-value expressions. I shamelessly claim elder millennial status as an excuse (which means I’m 18+, obviously).

I’m audhd (combo autistic/adhd), but I didn’t find that out until earlier this year, so I’m still very used to tiptoeing around people and holding myself back out of self-preservation. Working on that though, bc I’m tired of that shit.

Erm, also… fuck is my favorite word. If you don’t like foul language, I might not be a great fit for you.

I joined Tumblr about a month ago, so I am still learning and ask for your patience. (I will probably be learning for quite some time, tbh) If I’m doing something wrong, please let me know so I can fix it.

Question for you regarding fanfics: (although I'd love to hear the thoughts from anybody who reads this, just picking on you as you probably know what I'm considering posting)

What's your take on AO3 vs Tumblr, or cross-posting. I know you've done some cross-posting, but I think you, as well as some others I follow, have some fics only posted to Tumblr.

Also, any tips, tricks, links to guides on how to post fics to Tumblr?

Hey Honey! 🖤 I think every question you have is a matter of pure preference tbh and everyone does it differently. I like to put my longer fics both here and on AO3 but keep my one shots or short fics just here. Some people only post to AO3 but drop promo links to it here and some people aren’t on AO3 at all.

If you are going to post work here the only real rules are USE A READ MORE LINK. It’s common courtesy to drop a page break after your opening paragraph or teaser so your massive chapter doesn’t create a wall of text on peoples’ dash.

Formatting on here is a nightmare, sorry about that in advance.

Many fic writers have different styles of intros/headers/tags. My advice starting out is to check out the style of headings other authors use and copy one you like until you tweak it to make it your own. Massive amounts of tags aren’t necessary but essential ones are appreciated, as well as SFW/NSFW warnings which should be a must.

Adding art with permission or a gif in the header lends visual pop but you don’t need it.

Because I know what you are considering posting, I’d LOVE to see it on here! People need more of our badass Queen Sevika 🖤🖤🖤

A/N: again, sorry for the long wait, actually i was going to post this as a separate fic but thought what better than to put it into this series. i won’t make any promises on when the next part will be out tbh, but let’s hope it will be soon, enjoy! note, this is actually part 1, and the previously released part is now the intro/teaser to the series.

you were starting to think they weren’t coming back.

when they didn’t turn up to the restaurant, leaving you stranded on a table for 4 in the midst of pitying eyes, you hadn’t thought much of it. maybe they had forgotten, or maybe, maybe they just wanted a boys’ night out, without the additional girlfriend tagging along.

by the second day, you thought up more excuses: they’d got absolutely wasted and couldn’t make it out their own beds. that must’ve been it, they wouldn’t leave without letting you know, because what boyfriend stands his partner up and ignores texts and calls for two days without a good reason??

by the third day, you started to get a bit worried. what if they had gotten drunk but instead of nursing a raging hangover for days, they’d fallen into a river? the panic had started to set in, but the rational side of you stopped it. of course if a group of boys had fallen and died in a river, it would be all over the news by now.

but as you stepped out of the shower, the entirely unrefreshing experience having been filled with your incessant thoughts, you heard a smashing noise. you raced out the bathroom, only to be faced by a pair of boys with awfully guilty looks plastered on their faces, the broken flower vase on the floor clear evidence of their entry.

‘wooyoung! where have you been??’ you asked, relief flooding through your body, ‘do you know how worried i was when you didn’t turn up? it’s been four days.’

you only felt a slight prickle of unease when he didn’t return your embrace, nor your questions. he rubbed the back of his neck and side-eyed san next to him, before opening his mouth to answer.

'boys trip to the beach’ they both said in eerie unison.

you frowned a little, looking between the two as they stared at each other for a bit, clearly having a silent conversation with their eyes.

‘sorry y/n’, wooyoung said at last, ‘it was all quite sudden really, mingi and his girlfriend wanted us to come with them.’

your frown deepened a little at that and the unease in you grew a little more too. ‘so it was just you boys and mingi’s girlfriend??’ he nodded slightly at that, eyes shifting away from you, but before you could question him more, san scoffed.

‘cmon, woo, i thought you were done being pussy-whipped. did that trip do nothing for you?’

‘san...’ he said, keeping his voice low, even though you could clearly hear their conversation.

‘no, don’t san me, we took you there so you could have some real fun, instead of always what y/n wants, y/n gets.’ he scorned, anger clearly rising.

‘no, woo, i do get it. you don’t want to upset your little girlfriend. but what happened to the wooyoung i used to know? the wooyoung that had actual fun before he met a girl called y/n. you even admitted yourself just how much you hated it. you really let loose once you got the taste of some new pussy.’

that’s what shocked you out of your passive state, and you laughed a little before turning away, starting down the corridor back to your room. the quiet ‘what the fuck, man’ went unheard beneath the ringing in your ears as you sped up, lest you started to cry in front of them. you heard the thumping of feet behind you and a gentle pull on your wrist.

‘y/n’ he said softly, ‘baby, it’s not what it looks like, okay?’

you turned around, tears threatening to spill, and looked at the patch of wall next to his ear: you don’t think you could look him in the eye without breaking down. ‘really, wooyoung? you go missing for 4 days, ignore all my texts and calls and the moment you turn up, i hear that you’ve, how did san put it, “tasted some new pussy”??? do you know how worried i was? i thought you were dead, i thought something serious had really happened to you. i don’t even care that you showed me up, i care that you didn’t even think to tell me where you were going, and to top it all off you-’

you broke off, choking a little on the small sob that had escaped. you couldn’t bring yourself to think about what could’ve happened the past few days. honestly, you wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt, believe that he was faithful and wouldn’t do that to you. but something in his eyes told you otherwise, told you that maybe you just weren’t good enough for him anymore, that maybe san wasn’t lying.

‘did you?’ you whispered, voice cracking pathetically. you didn’t even need to finish the question before his eyes dropped again, and he didn’t need to verbally answer before you knew the truth.

‘y/n, it was a mistake. i was drunk and the boys kept telling me that we’d been together too long, that i hadn’t really got a good fuck in a while and i guess it got to me.’ he said quickly, desperately, as if saying it faster would make it go away.

‘but you don’t regret it, do you, woo?’ the nickname slipped of your tongue so easily, and he winced slightly at that. his eyes widened slightly and he jumped to deny it, to tell you he did, to tell you just how much he wanted to take it back the moment it happened, but the slam of the door behind him stopped him.

san’s exit had brought almost a sense of calm over you, had made you reconsider the situation and so you untangled your arm from his grip. ‘it’s ok, wooyoung, i get it now.’ you quickly walked the last few steps to your room and shut the door firmly, breath wavering, your words echoing around your ears.

‘it’s ok’ it wasn’t. ‘i get it now’ you didn’t. but it all seemed a bit surreal, but somehow, you didn’t feel too bad. almost as if you had knew it was coming, almost as if the months of chasing after him had warned you, prepared you for this very moment. the pounding in your ears gradually stopped as you picked up your phone to call your friend:

‘hey, is it ok if i join you on that trip?’

by the time your bags had been packed and you’d dolled yourself up for the ‘pre-vacation night out’ that your friend had mentioned earlier, you had reached a conclusion. taking a deep breath in, you stepped out of the bedroom, making your way to the open living area. there, you found wooyoung, head in his hands, before it shot up, forehead creasing as he took in your appearance.

‘y/n...’ he greeted cautiously, getting up and approaching you, as if you were a scared cat, about to run away at any given moment, ‘can we talk about it?’

‘i’m going out, wooyoung, i figured i needed to let loose after being cooped up in here all week, waiting for you to come home.’ he nodded slowly, guilt crossing his face again, but you continued speaking before he could interrupt your flow, ‘after that, i’ll be away for a while. look after yourself, i’m afraid i won’t be around anymore to do it for you.’

and with that, you made your way to the door, before turning around and looking at him for what you hoped would be the last time. as much as he had hurt you, you thought it best to end it with closure, because knowing him (or at least, the him that you used to love), he’d continue to try and earn your forgiveness: ‘don’t feel too bad, wooyoung, it was nice while it lasted.’

the closing of the door behind you muffled out his ‘wait!’ and you got into the elevator before he could follow you.

it had been a while since you’d been to a club, a film and pizza at home more often than not preferred over the thumping music and blinding lights, but it posed a welcoming distraction for you, as you twirled with your friends, seeing a few familiar faces that you would be travelling with come tomorrow. it appears that your friend group along with a few others had planned a big trip to celebrate the beginning of your gap year, the gap year that you were going to spend with wooyoung, and so had declined the offer to join them. but with the turn of events today, you were lucky enough to bag the last seat on the same flight and were welcomed with open arms.

‘i’m so so proud of you, y/n’ chaeyoung slurred, clearly having consumed a bit too many drinks already. ‘you kicked his ass! go you! we’re going to have so so much fun and you’re going to forget alllll about that dick of an ex, ok???’ you giggled slightly, also having consumed a bit of liquid courage to forget all about said ex, ‘in fact, i know just the right person to help you! i’ll be right back’. and with that, she ran off, disappearing into the crowd in search of this mysterious person.

unfortunately, as your eyes followed her shadowy figure across the floor, they soon locked with another figure, staring right at you, having just walked through the doors with the rest of the boys: san, mingi, hongjoong. how unlucky you were, because of course the club that you went to would be the exact one wooyoung went to with his friends as well. but to no matter, he could watch you all you liked, so you might as well give him a little show to see what he’s missing.

with that, you turned away, swaying your hips slightly as you moved to the music, catching the eye of a dark-haired stranger, enticing him until his hands rested just above your gyrating hips. because what better to get over wooyoung than with a fit, (perhaps even more) handsome man who could give you just what you wanted. but as you began to gently grind into his hard legs, you caught a movement out of the corner of your eye: a fuming wooyoung being tugged gently back into his seat by his friends, a wooyoung who couldn’t seem to keep his eyes off of you, even though, deep down he knew he didn’t have the right to look at you like that anymore.

the corner of your lip tugged up a little, and you turned to look at your dance partner, his dark eyes sparkling with curiosity as he watched you, not making any more moves on you, but not stopping your actions either. your eyes dropped down to his lips, your faces drifted closer and closer, almost about to touch, as you heard a shout behind you.

‘y/n! y/n i can’t find him, but do you know who i found instead? i just saw wooyoung walk in and-’ the voice broke off upon seeing the two of you, having clearly interrupted a moment. you closed your eyes briefly, puffing out a breath before turning to see who the voice belonged to: chaeyoung, with a devilishly bright grin on her face.

‘oh, well i see you’ve already met seonghwa then.’

hiya! im another anon, what's the thai show u r obbssesed right now? ive just saw ur ask in my TL. im so into Kinnporsche, if u havent watched it i ighly highly recommend it, it's like a brand new level of BL, for me is like bye bye rnm lol (tbh i havent watched a single ep from s4 so im like just visiting the malex tag once in a while to lurke and see whats going on and read ur amazing fics lol) (sorry for my english gfdsdf)

It’s kinnporsche 😂 I actually now can’t watch any other Thai show because of it, they’ve set the standard so freaking high. I used to watch a few Thai shows back in the day, and even learned some Thai and how to read and write it and string a few sentences together, but Thai BL productions generally aren’t… great, to put it kindly. But kp is really top notch, they’re amazing at visual storytelling, dramatic and funny and romantic and intimate moments, the acting and character arcs and dynamics are phenomenal, there’s not a single character (except two serious villains) that I don’t absolutely love and root for. I’ll probably write a whole post on intimacy in queer couples on tv, but for now, just know that if you want to watch a Thai show, or just a really good queer show in general, kinnporsche is the one.

However, that said, I would skip the intro for the first four episodes so that you’re not spoiled on the big twist at the end of episode 4, which I think they overlooked. I skipped it because I don’t usually like the intro songs or I just wasn’t paying attention to the names (I didn’t realize till later though that kp’s intro song and entire ost is amazing), so when the twist came I was floored. Yeah, highly recommend.

Scenario: Instead of a younger human, the Devildom welcomes a mother (with a 3-year old son in tow) into the exchange program.

I JUST WANT THEM TO FEEL LOVED OK

Lucifer wasn’t prone to believe in fate-- and the beginnings of the exchange program was just another reason why he did not. He let the breeze-- the wind pick a human applicant for him; and if he had gone through every application (though he wasn't completely sure he'd be sane by the end of it all) maybe this situation wouldn't have happened.

"What do you mean you can't be one of our exchange students?" Diavolo inquired, more curious than anything, an amused smile gracing his lips.

"I have a son," she said hesitantly. And there he was, peering around at the assembly room in his mother's arms that were wrapped protectively around him.

A mother and her human child, Lucifer thought blearily. One could only imagine what would happen if both of them remained here. (Which is why he never cut corners in anything he ever did ever because the one time he does, things go to shit. Damn Diavolo for enabling him.)

Lucifer

disgruntled by the adjustments made to accommodate a human child and his mother; mf will he ever rest

probably has to worry about babysitting duties delegated to his brothers

however, pleasantly surprised by MC's calm demeanor and reliable personality; finally another competent person in the house he doesn't have to really pick up after

...actually adores her and her son

accidentally does things to please her without really realizing it and hates the slight disappointment or worry he sees when he goes through sleepless nights or lashes out from anger

doesn't remember the last time he's been chastised, but he's as embarrassed as he can be when she fusses over him

the hell coffee she makes for him every morning and the snacks she brings during his breaks makes him lowkey wanna cry-- he doesn’t know how to deal with a selfless, unconditional love

is used to being a single parent ngl so taking care of her son is kinda… easy especially if the son is compliant

finds himself pressing a kiss to his forehead absently and catches himself only after he's done it (bonus points if Barbatos takes a pic of it and sends it into their trio gc)

“Barbatos, please delete this picture.”

“Oh, are you sure about that?”

ah he's attached, and so are his brothers, which kind of perturbed him a little but he’s kind of in the same boat after a short week or so

(if there was one brother who had a chance of harboring feelings for a mother mc, it’d be Luciiiiiiii uwuwuwuuwuuw; what can I say? He can’t resist the milf)

eventually, he opens up to her about the war-- because if there was any human he’d trust with his secrets, it would be MC

Mammon

he's crying

he doesn't think anyone has ever talked or held him as gently as MC

similar to the game, absolutely adores her and can't even lie about it

ok jk he's still a tsundere, but blushes every time MC looks at him with a knowing look because he can't lie convincingly enough that no, the head pats dont feel nice and no, he's just eating the lunch she made because it'll be a waste otherwise, ok?!

Her son definitely thinks he’s related to Mammon

Definitely the first one to accidentally call her “mom”

But hey don’t blame him-- he’s weak to how MC looks at him endearingly as she brushes hair out of his face motherly, like he can do no wrong

Nothing can compare to how Mammon feels when MC tells him she’s proud of him

feels legit guilty when she calls him out on his habits of stealing things to the point he remembers her voice when he tries to do it again-- basically his conscience ngl

she's like a cold hand to his feverish forehead, a cooling balm to the burn on his hand

when she defends him from his brother's insults, swears he'll protect her and her son

on that note, adores her son too and her son adores mammon!

surprisingly (or not) good with kids and treats them well; plays with them, very lively and dynamic

takes babysitting pretty seriously-- makes him consider the fact that he might actually want to be a father in the future if possible

not that he doesn’t have reckless endeavors with her son... they just end up okay so no one is none the wiser until it shows up on someone’s devilgram or spoken about through Barbatos/Diavolo

Leviathan

Honestly doesn’t know how to to react

A little miffed tbh that he finds it so easy to talk to her about…. Everything???

When he enlisted her (and her son) to get his money back from Mammon, did he expect to rant to her about all his animes and gush about his figurines to her because that was one of the first time someone’s allowed him to indulge in his hobbies and listen patiently?

No, and now he’s crying

And the fact she gently addresses his self-deprecating comments and urges him to see how she sees him (smart, witty, forgiving)---

Will probably do anything for MC and anything she says at this point; the pact is just a formality LOL

Listens to her and genuinely thinks the things she does for him is in his best interest

Had a hard time knowing how to deal with her son for a while, simply because he doesn’t know what he could do to actually entertain the child

Then finds out he could literally put up TSL or any of his favorite animes and the kid will watch it-- and ABSORB

Levi might as well be the kid’s best friend at this point-- dubbs him ‘Henry’-- which is really the greatest compliment MC thinks her son can get from him

Honestly volunteers to babysit him and proceeds to spoil him rotten

Satan

Slightly annoyed at how motherly she is at the beginning-- he takes her care and actions as if she treats him like a child

Finds it frightening how soothed he feels when he’s around her

There’s something about an older, calming presence that saps the anger from him and makes him feel like he can be himself around MC

Surprisingly the second person to accidentally call MC by “mom” probably an hour after he makes fun of Mammon for doing it (lol karma)

isn't one to seek out her attention like with levi, mammon, or asmo but is pleased whenever he does have time to spend with her because she always seems to have insight on everything and a strange wisdom that all mothers apparently do

has a lot of late night talks with her about her life, her career, what it's like having a child

often finds himself asking her for advice, and even if she doesn't have the answer, he always comes out of it thoughtful and clear minded

always willing to take care of her son; delights in reading him his favorite books and enacting the exciting scenes

always treats him like an adult to the point that their conversations are really funny to listen to

"So would you say the author's intent of the blue door was to convey the agony of grief?"

"I like the color blue."

"As did the protagonist; hm, you bring up a good point."

the son is Satan's partner in crime against Lucifer

"It's better if we do this, isn't that right?"

"Yeah!" MC’s child says, happily chewing on his favorite snack that Satan always gives to him and honestly not caring about the conversation at hand at all

"See? He agrees with me!”

And Lucifer just sighs bc he always loses in these arguments and Satan is unbearably smug

Asmodeus

similar to Satan, finds her presence in Devildom to be very pleasant and calming

she never seems to be disapproving of his past times, and Asmo is endeared by the way she never fails to say "stay safe" or "have fun!" or even "do you want me to leave the front lights for when you come back?"

the little motherly ways in which she shows she cares makes Asmo adore her

loves taking her shopping; always has a good time just gossiping, trying new clothes, or having a girls night out with self careeeee

when her son tags along, loves to have him dress up too or try on make up and it's too adorable NOT to post on devilgram

pretty sure MC's son has trended on devilgram before-- but that was the first and last time because Lucifer yelled at him for advertising the fact there was a human child in Devildom

which Asmo thinks is silly because he's pretty sure the caption under the selfie of the three of them ("So adorbs! I've only had MC's son for a day, but if anything happened to him, I would kill everyone in Devildom and then myself. Teehee!") would have deterred any demon from laying a finger on him

When Asmo has him for babysitting duties, always loves to bathe him and play with bubbles, morphing his hair into an afro or an equally fashionable hairdo

actually very attentive to the child!!

Beelzebub

Not much changes from how Beel treats MC, but does view her actions in a more motherly manner

I think one thing that would change is that-- considering MC is a mother of her own child, is actually very protective of the brothers and sensitive to their changes in moods

When Lucifer gets angry at Beel and Luke, MC is furious and furiously protective, not yielding one bit or hesitating to put herself in front of them because of her instincts-- Beel has never admired her more

Physical strength has always something he can easily understand, but it is the strength of wills and of bravery that surprises him every time

After Mammon and Satan accidentally calls you “mom” Beelzebub has no qualms with calling you by mom either-- I mean, what’s the shame in that? Everyone already thinks of you as their mother-figure anyways

MC helps him deal with the loss of his sister

With MC’s child… You know that one meme with the two ways dad deals with kids: one is softly kissing his child on the forehead as he sleeps and the other is carrying his kid by the leg with one arm

Both of them is Beel

carries the kid around in the weirdest ways sometimes, including on his head, in one hand like he's holding a trophy, upside down (dw the kid thinks it's funny)

main transport is on his shoulders though; thinks it's kinda cute how the kid puts his arms around his head

wouldn't love anything more but to nap with him, but Beel is afraid of hurting him when he sleeps

Is the softest with MC’s son--- he’s not used to being the older brother, so he takes this responsibility kind of seriously

Always makes sure the food that MC’s son eats is appropriate so he tastes/tries it first… and sometimes ends up eating all of it, but he always manages to succeed in feeding the kid so it’s all good

Belphegor

Wants to hate MC so badly the first time they meet when he’s in the attic

He’s supposed to HATE humans, damn it-- why the hell is MC trying to be so motherly and understanding, huh?? How dare she make him guilty after he lied to her like wlkjaflksjfkjasdlfj

Out of all of them, seeks MC the least; whether it’s from guilt or the fact that her presence reminds him of the things and resentment he used to hold against her

Takes a little more cajoling from MC to talk to her and explain how he’s feeling so they can move past it

He’d rather die than let anyone else know that he teared up when they talked about Lilith and how he felt about everything; urges Belphie to talk to Lucifer and seek reconciliation with him individually (because it may be a family problem, but the feud was between the two of them, don’t you think?)

Finally gets the redemption arc he deserves and feels a lot lighter knowing that everything that has happened is now in the open and he’s ready to start healing

In avoiding MC after the whole debacle, Belphie ends up spending more time with her son because he thinks Belphie is fascinating and Belphie has no clue why

Similarly to Satan, treats the kid like he would anyone else but does find it amusing if the kid chases after his tail like a cat

Always ends up napping with him whenever MC’s son takes a nap-- after all, what’s easier than looking after a kid if you’re BOTH asleep?

Keeps an eye on him by putting a hand on his torso as they nap together

Uses MC’s son as an excuse to not do something, especially when Lucifer tells him to do something he doesn’t like to do

Honestly the son is a part of his arsenal-- he knows how weak everyone is for this kid (and so is he tbh but more lowkey) so cute pics of him is like… currency (Mammon WISHES he thought of this first)

Bonus:

Luke

MC practically adopts him the moment she lays eyes on him-- how could she not? Luke may as well be her other son

Luke can’t say no, especially after she saves him from Lucifer

Definitely calls her mom by accident and the brothers tease him-- only for him to retort back that “don’t you ALL call her by mom?” and they shut up lol

Simeon still gets to tease Luke though heheh

Really really really tries hard not to refer to MC as mom, but it slips out sometimes and no one even bats an eye

Baking together is such a family bonding moment

Treats MC’s son most like his younger brother almost automatically and makes sure he doesn’t get into any trouble while he’s taking care of him (though he does anyways)

Kind of likes the responsibility of babysitting MC’s son; makes him feel trusted

(MC takes the cutest pics of them together when they fall asleep; starts thinking about maybe having another child wouldn’t be so bad)

» synopsis: a haikyuu x reader au where you, the player, are bound for university in a metropolis several hours away from home. hope and excitement are replaced with dread as you come to realize that juggling life as a student and a part-time employee takes a toll. from demanding classes to a ruthless manager, life just can’t seem to give you a break. that is, until you meet a certain someone who reminds you how to live and follow your dreams. somehow, when you’re with them, time stands still. maybe things are finally starting to look up. if only you could stay in those moments for just a little longer.

omg mar thank you for enabling me all day today 😭🥺🧡 thenks bestie ily :,)) and thank you too anon ! i should preface that T-T i have not read any other theories or analyses so these are just my opinions / impressions but i hope it’s entertaining to read about haha :p ! (feel free @ anyone to add on or share your thoughts too ! :,))

HYUNJAE - okay so audio cues... if you listen to the beginning there’s a sound of a bomb going off before the music starts ? and that ties into the dystopian / cyborg aesthetics that jump out at me of course, but what i immediately thought of was their no air perfo ? like we know hyunjae in the no air mv got that shot where he’s laying in the bathtub filled with water but also their kingdom performance with it also had those underwater shots ! so i think it ties into that... i feel like we saw in gen z, he’s a very straightforward person he says things on his mind which can come off as blunt but he thinks it’s better than not saying it ? which is interesting bc i think that speaks to his self- determined personality, he’s much more inclined to do whatever it takes to get something done, which i think falls perfectly in line with the “make your own air” phrase that he gets, if it’s something he needs he makes it himself, in a situational sense methinks u.u

JUYEON - JUYEON’S DJSKHDG i’m waiting for dri’s essay but in essence we see the gen z “juyeon is not such a good boy” shot and these text bubbles that pop up that say “sexy” “you so hot” “such a bad boy” and tbh i like this ‘concept’ ? for him better than his gen z one ? it’s not bc of the concept itself but i like the idea that he can “make your own character” as in he has the capability and power to be whoever he wants to ! you see him throwing white paint at the gen z canvas and i think ?! that’s symbolic of like a fresh canvas ! of remaking himself to whatever he wants bc the canvas is now blank again thanks to the white paint and flowers usually indicate spring ? so renewal and stuff like that ! i really like his, it’s also fun word play on “character” which has been juyeon’s intro in tbz (bc his name sounds like main character in korean) but yea :o ! i really love his the idea he can just repaint / paint over a literal image of him gives it the possibility of becoming smth new and that’s so so cool

CHANGMIN - SCREEEEECH okie um oh boy um *windows shutting down noises* this was so so so very different from his gen z stuff but i actually think BOTH are equally perfect for him ? the way that he set up the sparklers and neon lights on this very obviously trashy and kind of rundown rooftop with the cityline behind him is so ?!?!? LITERALLY making his own stage as his tagline goes, sort of like how the physical stage itself does not matter but rather it’s changmin himself that makes the stage special ! i talked about this in gabi’s set that i rbed ;-;/ but changmin puts a lot A LOT of stake in his position as a dancer it means almost everything to him as a form of expression from what i can see ? so he’s always trying his best to put forward the best performance possible and seeing this segment makes me feel like he’s doing just that ! pouring himself into it to make his stage pls i care him

HAKNYEON - god i’m a jusadan but just u.u rest in peace me, i’ll ... T_T be kind of honest this one confuses me a little ? i have assumptions and i feel like i know ... quite a bit about haknyeon (LMAO) my best guess is it has smth to do with self assurance ...? the way he’s framed and the fact that he’s sitting on a bed in the middle of a church surrounded by candles gives me christ figure symbolism (where my ap english takers at :/) and the light that perfectly frames him in a halo gives me angel vibes too, but the tagline of “make your own romance” paired with him kissing his reflection makes me think it’s about self love ;;;; from what i can tell haknyeon has always been someone who really likes feeling validated and praised for the stuff he does well, which he does for himself a lot of the times too ! but sometimes i think the self assurances he compliments himself with is more for reassuring himself rather than bragging (which i think people misinterpret) so it’s more about becoming the person he wants to fully love and being happie with himself which *tears* i might be reading too much into who knows i just love him ok ... U.U

KEBINNN - i know !!! dri mentioned this in my gifset tags but ! kev on kpop daebak (? was it) or smth mentioned how he strives to keep a childlike wonderment for the world around him, which is a reason why i think he loves drawing and sound / music production, he talked in a fancafe post once about an artist who turned mediocre everyday objects into art and he said he really loves that sense of wonderment so peter pan who “never grows up” is actually perfect for his worldview ahhhh T^T also kev really likes disney lmao, the way he’s doing this outside in this “neverland” garden on a balcony which is a part of this very typical apartment backed by a typical city bg also i believe ties into this turning a mediocre everyday thing into smth wonderful through his sense of childlike wonderment and his tagline of “make your own fantasy” (i also care him a lot this concept >>>>>>) and keeps to his referencing movie plotlines like he did in gen z jddkfj

SUNWOO - i also mentioned this in my tags on sunu’s set but this gives me 100 degrees vibes which i still to this day think is one of the most “sunwoo” vibe things ever, it’s a lot of him having fun and doing his own thing, and mixes both more mature and youthful aspects together in a way that i’d only ever describe as sunwoo vibes LMAO like the roller skating around and all the soap bubbles ! cute and youthful ! the crop top and celine wasitband (don’t laugh at me we all noticed) more mature and a callback to his gen z look methinks U.u, think sunwoo has always been a more go-with-the-flow or do whatever he feels like doing sort of person and so “make your own vibe” fits well with him in that sense to me

SANGYEON - .... *silence* *more windows shutting down noises* *jess.exe has stopped working* OKAY i feel like ! sangyeon’s is also more self explanatory :p i love the juxtaposition of boxing AND the arcade type fighter games ?? like both require very different sets of skills i feel like one is more physical the other is more mental ? but both require adapting to changes whether in the game or the boxing ring which as leader sangyeon would know a lot about, esp being flexible and quick to respond to different situations, and the “make your own glory” i feel is maybe more on the nose, but tbz are this man’s pride and joy you can see it literally anywhere and for him, as leader, to have made it this far with tbz, winning rtk and building their popularity through their hard work and efforts really is building his own glory and i just HHHHHHHHHH

YES EYYSFDHSHF CHANHEE YES - i said it in the tags of my srb before deleting it so i’ll just repeat it here but CHOI CHANHEE !!!!! this detail i didn’t quite process first watch was the continuous flashing of lights in all his scenes, like ... from the shots and the set it looks REALLY empty ?? but the flashing seems to indicate cameras and photos being taken of him despite there being no people we can really see in any of the shots ? WHICH IS SO COOL i think the implication is like “all eyes on him” type which SO TRU i love that idea, like i said the walking past the wedding dresses ? v heavily implies fashion designer which i think you mentioned mar :o ! and i see it in the sense of his tagline “make your own stereotype” bc white wedding dresses are the very traditional / typical choice and obviously feminine in stereotypes, whereas chanhee is wearing a SUIT which is all black in a very clean b/w set with no color which i feel is very stereotypically MASCULINE and the glasses too, it’s such an interesting contrast of his “stereotypically feminine” features (in my view) with very masculine symbols, like glasses we usually associate with more soft hearted / meek stereotypes ? but the geometric shape of the windows and again his suit seems to indicate the very opposite ? it’s a mixing of stereotypes which i think is the point, by putting those together he quite literally makes his own stereotype and puts on the crown while the cameras continue flashing while pointed at him AHHHHHHHHHHHHH

YOUNGHOON - okie might have less to say about this one :o i feel like both hak’s and younghoon’s i don’t see the connections quite as readily but ! i think it’s interesting that his tagline is “make your own classic” but then in the scenes itself he has a flip phone ??? with an antenna (okay boomer /j JDHFKFG JK PLS) and a teddy bear while in PERIOD stylized clothing and setting where those two things are more modern / contemporary in origin (but also not modern enough bc ,,, it’s a flip phone LOL) like 90s kid vibes ? you know but as an emperor in the joseon era haha :p while eating shrimp chips and reading a (comic ?) book, like idk too much of what it means but it’s a cool dichotomy LOL, think it might also tie into actor ! hoon bc it’s make your own classic and i think acting has become a very important aspect to him :o after seeing what he’s capable of in love revolution and his atbz video so it’s interesting u.u (need help w/ this one)

JACOB - think my explanation in han’s set’s tags didn’t really make sense so lemme ... reexplain LOL,,, so ! similar to his gen z video ? like he’s talked about how difficult it is to open up about his own feelings etc. and he said it’s less bc he realizes he needs to but rather just to make other people feel more comfortable when it comes to understanding him, and like the whole breaking the mirror with his reflection in the wanna be angry jacob, it’s about freeing himself to the point he can express the emotions he wants to ! in gen z it was about being able to be angry when he felt that way instead of being tied by his image of being just nice ? and in the video with his pilot uniform not only does he control the ride but he also rides on it himself ! quite literally making his own freedom (symbolically), a sort of realizing he can free himself ? from what’s been tying him down and i think the really big smile he has while riding it just comes to show how he wants to feel :,))) (jacob bae i care you)

ERIC - last one :p AHHH this is one of my favs too, the quite literal “make your own pride” I LOVE IT ! sooo i think the biggest takeaway i got was that of course in this video his “pride” is symbolized by the hot pink car (that he’s going to pick up his christmassy date in of course u.u if he has a license which he does n- his driver’s license in this was literally his aaa / boy version of reveal photo which in no dmv anywhere would a license picture be allowed to look that good-) and LITERALLY when he finished and takes it for a joy ride while sitting on the roof he’s STILL covered in the dirt and grime stains ! from working on it ! which i think is so symbolic ! it’s my favorite detail actually, he literally put sweat into this car which is his pride and now that he’s finally riding around in it, it feels accomplishing ! his pride ! love that, also when he’s grabbing a stub from that flyer i noticed he chose “youth” over the others (which was like .... ca$h, beauty, ice cream, hamburger...) which i think also just indicates that despite all this hard work he put in he still cherishes his youth and still lets that be a huge part of who he is (i mean pink car so of course) so idk i think it’s very neat go bestie mwah

every day i thank yoongi for featuring on this album and giving me a reason to listen to it. there was a week to a month at the start of lockdown (time meant nothing who knows) that this was just on repeat. it’s so well ordered as a full album which is So not expected from an album with So many singles and i Love it. some tracks i keep coming back to include: suga’s interlude (obv.), more, and still learning (but like, just listen to the whole album honestly)

BTS - Map of the Soul: 7 (21st February, 2020)

last year i absolutely adored mots: persona, and i guess this is almost kind of a repack? honestly as an Album if confuses me BUT i also loved so many of the new tracks i couldn’t leave it out. some top picks: ugh! (욱), we are bulletproof: the eternal, and filter (my top played bts song of 2020 on spotify oops)

5 Seconds of Summer - Calm (27th March, 2020)

listen lockdown was a weird time and i maybe had a brief 5sos Moment bc tbh it’s good pop! i listened to this whole album a bit, but i kind of whittled it down to the 8/12 songs i really liked (that are all on my top songs so i couldn’t Ignore it...). some of the favs are red desert, easier, and lover of mine

Day6 - The Book of Us: The Demon (11th May, 2020)

day6 literally have never released a bad song. it is actually impossible. a well constructed album top to bottom. musically interesting but never unpleasantly challenging? also yoon dowoon melting my heart with his vocal lines 🥺 what a band, what a group. i rec the whole thing but, let’s highlight day and night (해와 달처럼), love me or leave me, and afraid (also sungjin’s demo track for it i’m Still crying it’s so good)

Tomorrow x Together - The Dream Chapter: Eternity (18th May 2020)

i nearly picked txt’s other ep this year entirely bc i loved ghosting so much, but as a full set of tracks i like this one more. nothing could ever beat run away as a single, but can’t you see me did it’s very best. a quality sampling of what txt is capable of. picks: drama, can’t you see me?, and fairy of shampoo (wow txt’s SEO Sucks and their korean titles are so Long i’m not going to put them here)

Day6 (Even of Day) - The Book of Us: Gluon - Nothing Can Tear Us Apart (31st August, 2020)

it’s a perfect album. beautiful, amazing, chef’s kiss. i am a Sucker for a concept album in general but the way the story progresses with the denimalz interlude tracks is so Cute and Fun. it’s totally fine that it’s only 18min long bc i could listen on repeat for days on end. i adore every track but i’ll recommend the intro: landing, interludes ocean and forest, and Especially the outro: to be continued (just listen to the full album!)

Stray Kids - GO生 (GO Live)/IN生 (IN Life) (17th June/14th September, 2020)

i kinda fell off following skz for a bit after the I Am series ended and i wasn’t sure i’d ever get back into them, but then i saw chan’s arms and hyunjin’s Hair and something Snapped. (also the release of skz2020 with all the re-recorded ot8 tracks with those han vocals??) top tracks: god’s menu (神메뉴), ta (타), back door, any (아니) (so many so many any anything etc.)

Taemin - Never Gonna Dance Again: Acts 1 & 2 (7th September/9th November, 2020)

it’s not cheating if it really was released as a package... i maybe have a slight bias toward act 1, simply bc criminal is like, one of my top songs of 2020. that said i don’t think there is a single skip? the way he has grown consistently since debut while still keeping a certain taemin Flavour is so impressive. tracks i particularly love include criminal, clockwork and pansy (cries in shawol)

BTS - BE (20th November 2020)

i nearly considered paying $100 for this on my first listen i loved every single track so much. i was sceptical when i heard it was only 8 tracks (7+skit) but everything about it is beautifully Bangtan, but in a very fresh way for an official album. you really can feel the contribution of every single member to the production. stand-out tracks are blue & grey, dis-ease (병), and honestly i Still love dynamite.

Honourable Mentions: Twice - Eyes Wide Open (i didn’t listen to the album much bc i couldn’t Stop listening to i can’t stop me) GFRIEND - 回: Song of the Sirens (i love them and the shift in their style of singles since being affiliated with bh has been interesting?)

Ahhhh! I’m so amazed that I got to 500 followers despite the fact that I barely?? Post?? And sometimes I just talk about random shit but even then, I still appreciate all of you guys so much? I have a few options on what I have to celebrate and I am so excited heheh. But before I get started I just,,, Have a few more things I’d like to talk about (cus I like to talk LOL). Feel free to skip though!!

I know that I only really started posting Haikyuu!! around my 300 mark, and I feel like the people after my 300 mark are the one’s who are active because of how much I come onto tumblr and then disappear.

If you don’t know this, I’ve actually been writing on Tumblr since 2015/2016. I’ve just changed blogs so many times that it’s like, hey, this is my new blog. Or like, I would write for a few months, disappear, come back but then everyone who followed me was dead so I was like eh I’ll just start again or whatever. And I think this makes me very very soft because out of all the communities I’ve been in, I’ve truly felt more welcome/at home even?? With everyone in Haikyuu? Like yeah there’s shit that goes down every few days or whatever but it’s always so fun to see people interact with each other and though I was hesitant at first (because before this the only writer I’ve ever interacted with was Scout for marvel oop) I’m really glad I reached out to a few of y’all and vice versa.

But despite that, Marvel will always hold a place in my heart and to everyone who followed me from my Marvel days, thank you for supporting me way back when. And even to my Narnia days (AHAHAHA). I don’t think I would’ve continued writing on tumblr without your guys’ support. I know that younger me appreciated you all for reading those old works (even if I hate my old writing now).

And to everyone now, thank you for sending in asks or commenting on my works. I actually think I would’ve disappeared by this time from this blog if you guys didn’t interact. I’m not saying I’m writing for the follows or the notes, if that makes sense. But it’s more like, I feel less of a robot that people expect to churn out works. Idk, it makes me feel like a person? And it just gives me a lot more serotnin than you might think!!

One last thing though, it’s not me saying I expect you guys to always read my work and always comment. It’s more so, I’d actually rather have you guys comment or whatever because you want to and you want to read it.
