Prompt 25 - Horoscope

James sat on the bed with Regulus’s lion while Regulus pulled clothes out of his wardrobe and tossed them aside. Bored, James picked up the magazine from Regulus’s bedside table. Heat, the title read. James shrugged, who was he to judge Regulus’s reading material?

“That’s Sirius’s,” Regulus said as he tossed a powder blue shirt on the bed before picking it up again and throwing it on the rejects pile. “I borrowed it. On page ten there’s an article about a woman whose husband disappeared for ten years and then came back, but she had a new family including three kids and a dog. She ended up cheating on her new husband with her old husband, but then both husbands fall in love and divorce her. It’s just nuts, isn’t it?” Regulus gushed at James. James chuckled at him. 

“Aww you love trashy magazines and you love it, admit it,”

“Shut up,” Regulus stuck his tongue out at him and went back to his wardrobe. 

“Well Mr Lion, shall we look at your horoscope,” James flipped through the magazine until he found it. “Er, what do you think his star sign is?” Regulus leaned back around the wardrobe door.

“He’s a Leo. I mean, come on James, he’s a lion,” Regulus said, tutting as though it made perfect sense. 

“Alright then. Leo… Ah, here we go. Leo, you are in for a bit of luck this month. Be on the lookout for a tall, handsome man with a ring in his hand. Well, that’s weird,” James said, scratching his head. “Hey, Reg, what’s your star sign?”

“Sagittarius,” He said, holding up a black shirt with silver accents, nodded at it and put it on the bed.

“Sagittarius, this month is not your month for making wagers. Resist the pull, for you will not win.”

“What the actual?! You made that up!” Regulus rushed over to James and snatched the magazine from his hands. James watched as he read the words printed on the page. Regulus looked up at him with wide eyes. Regulus tossed the magazine across the room. “Horrifying coincidence, right?” He croaked, shooting pleading eyes at James.

“Yeah, there’s no way Madam Trelawney could have possibly predicted any of that.” James hugged the lion close to him, a shiver coursing through him. His own horoscope had said 'Love is in the air, don’t let go of it, for this is as good as it gets.' When he had the chance he was going to burn that magazine.

Y'all remember Carlos saying at the end of last season that he was gonna go back to the DOW? That there's "still so much to learn about that place"?

And how he has a portal in the lab? How Kevin used that portal to come through and fight Boy Kevin? How there's now a sign saying "DO NOT ENTER PORTAL" so nobody could possibly go through it?

How Year 11 was a sort of alternate Year 1, with a new scientist trying to explain everything? And Year 12 being very similar to Year 2 with all its Kevin/Strex talk? The very beginnings of Cecil lore dropping with Cassette and The Auction? (A Story About You and A Story About Them are Year 1 and 2 as well)

How did Year 2 end? With Carlos getting trapped in the DOW for a year, and Cecil falling back into alcoholism to deal with the loneliness as well as being puppeted to fight Hiram and FOW.

And now, with a son and visions of his father that won't go away but also won't stick, what will he do if Carlos leaves again?

A year or two ago I reread all of Paranatural and made a list of every unanswered question I had and possible theories as to what the answers could be. I think when ch8 is over I'll do another full reread and update it as I go and share it publicly this time. If nothing else, it's interesting to see which things are confirmed and which are still speculation

I think it’s going to be kind of weird when the RWRB sequel comes out bc it’s a sequel to the movie, not another adaptation of a book.

Since the movie and the book have such different characterizations, there’s a good chance things don’t feel accurate to the book/OG characters at all, even if it matches the movie. That’s a little more forgivable when it’s a book to movie adaptation bc of course you have to change things, but going completely off course and doing something new with characters who already felt so different to start with? hm.

fun fact: the story originally wasn't going to reach this point in the timeline. i was thinking of ending it at bale's revival as a cliffhanger bc i had only tentatively plotted what happens next but was having too much fun lol. i started writing this like "yipppeee funny social media haha rpf" and now in typical ya fashion they're overthrowing the government yipppee 🔥

June. or like a week-10 days before June. we don't have a schedule for ywgttn book "tour". the only date we have is May 17, but i'm sure there are more. so it's hard to tell, it's strange they are not dropping other events already.
