I think it’s going to be kind of weird when the RWRB sequel comes out bc it’s a sequel to the movie, not another adaptation of a book.

Since the movie and the book have such different characterizations, there’s a good chance things don’t feel accurate to the book/OG characters at all, even if it matches the movie. That’s a little more forgivable when it’s a book to movie adaptation bc of course you have to change things, but going completely off course and doing something new with characters who already felt so different to start with? hm.

#shimmer's thoughts #rwrb #red white and royal blue #this is not me saying i won’t be sat for it. i like the movie and the book #but like. as separate entities. not twins not siblings but cousins #someone said the movie was fanfic-y where the book has depth and they’re right #but extending a fanfic after it’s ended… idk how that’s going to work #it could go well! i’m not saying it’s immediately going to hell #just making some predictions #i can see the reception being very mixed kinda like the first movie. but worse #not sure how it’s worse or why exactly i feel that way. but i’m feeling like it’ll be worse #and most importantly what is a sequel without june :(#i don’t mean to ruin the festivities or anything. i’m excited to see how they do it #i just think what they’re attempting to do is quite interesting #and risky esp since it’s probably more for money reasons than amazon having a strong love for the source material yk
