Russia has given Ukraine their latest “peace terms” which amount to essentially surrender, ahead of the Swiss Peace Summit.

'VERY SIMPLE' CONDITIONS

"The conditions are very simple," Putin said, listing them as the full withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the entire territory of the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions in eastern and southern Ukraine.

Russia claimed the four regions, which its forces control only partially, as part of its own territory in 2022, an act rejected by most countries at the United Nations as illegal.

So basically. Crimea, which America and NATO didn’t protest when it was originally invaded. A huge chunk of Ukraine, not joining NATO, “de-nazification,” and of course they want the West to pay back for their seizure of assets, so between that and the denazification? Could be literally any set of terms.

But denying these terms could lead to more death in Ukraine (as if millions won’t die and suffer), a frozen conflict, or more escalation. And naturally, after escalation, Putin will point back to this and insist he’d tried to be reasonable.

Will nuclear weapons follow? A scorched earth policy? Unknown. But Ukraine won’t ever accept these terms.
