I was inspired by ivylingstanacc on Instagram to mock up book covers for if my girl Ivy Ling had been the main character.

There aren't a ton of Ivy illustrations, which is a huge shame because I'd like to make her a cover for The Puzzle of the Paper Daughter, one of Julie's mysteries that heavily features Ivy and her grandparents!

Ivy is such a sweet character, I really wish AG had made her more than a sidekick.

Found this review of Julie and the Blue Guitar. Unfortunately it doesn't reveal much about the plot of the book, and calls to mind a tumblr post I remember seeing once about how people who have problems with American Girl dolls have problems with really strange things that the average American Girl fan would never even think of having a problem with.

This is the first time I've seen someone complain that American Girl dolls have a thigh gap. Personally I think a doll's design shouldn't be taken so literally as what the character it represents would look like in real life.

Duel of the American Girl Dolls: Historical Fun and Hobbies Accessories (Round 1)

Maryellen and Julie are taking a little swimming break to have a snack and play with their Barbies.

Maryellen has a ponytail Barbie (debuted 1959).

Julie’s got her Malibu Barbie (debuted 1971).

I got these mini Barbie’s from EBay. They are happy meal toys from 1999 and there are a bunch of cute ones.

I went from only two winter coat sets to having a lot more cold weather wear. Since I sold Samantha's Beforever coat, everything except for Rebecca's outfit is new.

Went with the calico dress for Julie since she wore the casual outfit a few months ago. Also since I had Kaya wearing her winter accessories previously, she gets to wear the fancy shawl this time.

The hardest to dress was Kirsten because her fingers kept catching the sweater. Hardest to pose was Maryellen, whose skates I think have permanently scratched my dresser.

It was a close race between Kirsten’s winter woolens and skating outfit, but Lindsey’s Valentine’s party outfit had a strong lead all the way.
