yay! love an excuse to show off my books:) @beautifulwillfulldead also asked about them, so here’s a peek for both of you.

as i mentioned in a previous ask, the majority of my books are thrifted, and the books are still the only ag item that i continue to collect. however, other than the history mysteries, which i have sought out copies of on occasion over the past year, i’m not really actively trying to collect, and only add books if i happen to come across them. (i am tempted to find samantha’s wedding memories and her movie script book though.) i’m also not particularly picky about edition, as you can probably tell, but have thought about getting double copies for the girls who went through illustration changes.

please let me know if there’s any books you want a better look at while i’m here! i can’t do scans or like photograph an entire book, but i’m happy to do more of a peek at any particular one if you send along an ask!

Went up into my parents attic to get an old American girl doll to use for a play I’m directing and learned that their faces have warped from the heat. I’m beyond devastated. I’m currently pregnant and I always imagined my kids playing with them and now I literally can’t stop crying.

Hailey is dressed up as a witch! (Hailey gets a photo alone bc she’s been wearing this outfit since August)

The World by Us girls decided to go as different decades! Maritza as an 80’s exercise enthusiast, Evette as a 70’s hippie, and Makena as a Roaring 20’s dancer.

Amara is a pirate, while Jess is going as Elizabeth Schuyler. (I’ve always thought that Jess looks like Phillipa Soo from the original cast when her hair is down). And Charlotte is wearing the Grecian Goddess outfit.

Courtney is of course Crystal Starshooter, Maryellen is a cowboy, and Julie decided to reuse her pioneer dress to be Laura Ingles.

Finally Angie is a flapper, Luci is an astronaut, and Lindsey is ready for a 1950s Sock Hop!

Question for AG collectors

Recently I was thrifting at different antique stores, as you do in New England, and found a JLY #54. She was listed at $80 — but on sale at 20% off. Duh, of course I bought her without even examining the state of her neck strings, if she had her body tag, if she had silver eye, etc. 

I got home and realized that she’s in excellent shape. Since I already have several dolls with the Jess mold (JLY 30, JLY 40, and Ivy Ling), I’ve thought about selling her on eBay. But she’s also a rare doll, with most eBay listings starting at $200. If I ever wanted her again, I’d be paying a steep price.

So what would you do? Keep or sell her??

This #54 is wearing the Real Me outfit that ran from 2010-2012. She comes in the Innerstar University box as well.

I love this picture!

Jess and Ivy are celebrating their Asian heritage. Jess is wearing a beautiful kimono, obi, and komageta from Etsy shop VeryFashionableDolls. Ivy looks amazing in American Girl’s Butterfly Brocade outfit. They are posing with my mother’s collection of netsukes, a cloisonné ginger jar, a small brass tiger, and a tiny tree made with white stones.

🍓which retired historical character would you bring back? which goty?

cécile and marie-grace all the way for historicals! they were the last dolls i really got into as a kid and, while there are changes i’d make to the series (aka cécile should be the main character), i think they have a lot of untapped potential.

as for goty… i wasn’t much of a goty line fan in general, but i remember liking jess and kanani! ironically, the one goty i have is grace and, while i love her french vibes, please dear god put that collection back where it came from
