Pitch for a HBO adaptation of “Uncharted” (you know, in case the movie franchise gets shelved and the execs want another Naughty Dog franchise after the success of “The Last of Us”):
1) Showrunner: Jonathan E. Steinberg (co-creator of Black Sails)
2) Brett Dalton as Nathan Drake
3) Teresa Palmer as Elena Fisher
4) Stephen Lang as Victor Sullivan (I know he did the live-action short, but he’s legitimately who I feel would be best in the role)
5) Pedro Pascal as Atoq Navarro
6) Mark Strong as Gabriel Roman
7) Bill Hader as Sam Drake (cameo appearance in season 1 in order to set the show up for the 4th game/season)
8) 9 episodes, same as “The Last of Us”

[image description: two gifs from the Black Sails finale. Silver and Madi stand on a grassy hill by the sea, with a long stretch of sand between them. the camera spins around them at an extremely wide angle, like the world keeps turning while the two of them are frozen in place. end id]

Steinberg: Flint was right. Whatever happens between Silver and Madi is not enough. He comes back looking for something he feels he left behind that he didn’t think he wanted.
So his ending with Madi isn’t a happy one?
Levine: The way you see them at the end, they’re in the same frame but they’re yards away from each other. Emotionally, that’s as close as they’ll ever get again.

Christ! I know you can’t hear me, but I only did what you wanted me to. Christ! I’d sell out the nation, for I have been saddled with the murder of you.

My final thoughts after seeing the whole first season of PJO:
I did not love this adaptation as a whole, I liked it. Occasionally, I more than liked it, and occasionally I did not like it. But I never hated it, so I am satisfied.
And don’t get upset or anything, because I would do anything to see at least 5 seasons of this show, if not all of PJO, HOO, and TOA. This story is so important to me, and I think that’s why I had trouble with some of the changes.
I’ve seen other people that say the show didn’t have the same spirit or tone as the book, and in some counts I really have to agree. The pacing was off in the show. I would have a hard time pointing to specific reasons why, but it just didn’t work for me most of the time. I also think we missed out on a lot of the humor, which is what makes me the most sad out of everything.
But I will NEVER attack children because of any of these errors, and I know that the subsequent seasons can only get better as Rick and Becky get better at working on a TV series, and as the whole PJO team gets more comfortable in their roles. If I know anything, I know Rick and Becky care about what the fan base thinks, so I have hope for future seasons being better than this first one.
Still though, the fact that we got this show at all makes me so emotional and I am so proud of the cast of kids that did their absolute best to bring these beloved characters to life. I’d die for our main trio 😂. I mean, THE PERCABETH MOMENTS!?!? Sally and Percy’s relationship?? Chef’s kiss. ❤️❤️
Even if I disagree with some of the decisions that were made in the writing of the show, I refuse to take it for granted. That is all.

[image description: two gifs of Toby Stephens on the set of Black Sails. he's dressed the way Flint appears in the finale, in a brown shirt with a large splotch of blood on the side of his head. the ship's railing and ropes are visible behind him, as well as emergency and set vehicles on standby in the background. Toby is smiling and laughing, putting his arm around someone's shoulders and squeezing them. the other person's face is not visible.
plain text of caption:
Toby Stephens is a saint. Just the amount of stunt work and stunt rehearsal and four pages of dialogue with intense emotional revelations and turns and he never once broke, never once questioned it, and at every moment was just as pleasant as he is today. So, it’s easy to overstate how important it is to have a person in the center of the show and the cast who holds it all together. This show would have been a complete disaster without him. - Jon Steinberg, co-creator/executive producer

Since “The Last of Us” TV show came about because Neil Druckmann met up with Craig Mazin due to his work on “Chernobyl”, I’m gonna need Neil to meet up with any of the following creators for a possible “Uncharted” TV adaptation:
1) Erik Oleson (Daredevil season 3)
2) Jonathan E. Steinberg (Black Sails)
3) Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen (Agents of SHIELD, Spartacus)
4) Jane Espenson (Warehouse 13)

[plain text of caption:
He starts in a place of having lost Thomas Hamilton, who was very meaningful to him, and then having lost Miranda in such an awful way that he feels alone. Part of the journey in season three is finding a new person that he feels he can be vulnerable with and understood by, and it comes from a surprising direction. // The thing Flint doesn’t have in season three that he’s always had is a partner. Part of the arc of the season for us was about him really flailing alone and not having anyone to have that human experience with. [We liked] him finding John Silver and having that become the person with whom he’s able to emerge from this awful experience he’s having. // After Miranda, [Flint’s] lost, until he finds Silver. And actually realizes that Silver is probably, you know, the one he needed most of all. — Robert Levine, Jon Steinberg, Toby Stephens
