Fuck it, The Magnus Archives fancast
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Riz Ahmed as Jonathan Simms
Look at him. You're gonna tell me that's NOT Jon? Yes he's a lil older than Jon but it's fine he doesn't look much older.
Tumblr media
Harvey Guillen as Martin Blackwood
Everytime you fuckers cast a skinny guy as Martin a puppy dies. He is quite literally described as "comfortable" and "not the smallest". Plus Guillermo is pretty similar to Martin already. Anyway I better not see another skinny Martin on here.
Tumblr media
Justin Min as Tim Stoker
Listen Tim is supposed to hot and broody. Justin is hot and his sparrow version of Ben is broody.
Tumblr media
Bryce Dallas Howard as Sasha James
Listen, she'd need heels and glasses but I have faith.
Tumblr media
Jessica Chastain as Not-Sasha
I think in a visual medium Not-Sasha needs to look enough like Sasha so the writers can gaslight the audience. They can't be identical, the audience still needs a moment of "are we supposed to think that's Sasha?" It's Sasha but...not. and Bryce has been compared to Jessica for years. Plus Jessica can play a really good antagonist/villain. She plays the character that makes you go "something ain't right" well.
Tumblr media
Sophia Nomvete as Basira Hussain
I just have a good feeling about her ngl
Tumblr media
Mackenzie Davis as Daisy Tonner
Tall lady with muscles 😩
Tumblr media
Susan Wokoma as Georgie Barker
Honestly I just scrolled thru other people's Georgie fancasts and she just....stood out to me as Georgie
Tumblr media
Hannah Marks as Melanie King
Look I just think her acting in Dirk Gently proves she's the gal to play Melanie.
Tumblr media
Con O'Neill as Elias Bouchard
I'm putting this at the bottom because this feels the most controversial. Listen I have a vision ok? Mads definitely could be Elias but I just...I think Con has such a unique voice and I think it'd be really neat. Plus he's like "too young for the job he has" without looking the same age as Jon. He's only in his 50s, it could work.
Willow (2024): una serie che fa tornare a credere nella magia
Tumblr media
Willow, la serie: digressioni spassose, aperture epiche, effetto nostalgia, inclusivitĂ  e un personaggio mitico. Tornato soprattutto per noi. Protagonisti Ruby Cruz, Erin Kellyman e il leggendario Warwick Davis. Otto episodi usciti a cadenza settimanale su Disney+, per chi ha avuto fortuna nel vederli perchĂŠ ora sono piĂš presenti sulla piattaforma.
Tempi oscuri, ansie generali, oppressione, stanchezza. Rabbia. Una dimensione contemporanea decisamente complessa che potrebbe coincidere con l'incipit di una serie dalla forte potenza visiva e, ovviamente, dal fortissimo sapore nostalgico. "In un'epoca di terrore, nacque una bambina destinata a cambiare il mondo". Da qui, il veloce recap di ciò che è accaduto oltre trent'anni fa, non prima che la serie in questione venga introdotta dal logo iconico della LucasFilm. Nel 1988, infatti, George Lucas e Bob Dolman, affidarono il loro script a Ron Howard, che costruÏ, appunto, Willow, divenuto un cult assoluto, dopo la canonica iniziale incomprensione. All'epoca il fantasy era avvolto da una certa leggerezza, le fan base non erano contemplate e i retaggi tolkeniani erano materia ristretta.
Tumblr media
Locandina di Willow
Oggi il mondo è sottosopra, le certezze vengono meno e guai a ridurre il fantasy a mera materia per bambini. Tant'è, subito è apparso strano (e sorprendente) l'annuncio della Disney: sviluppare una serie sequel di Willow. Adesso, che lo show è divenuto realtà, comprendiamo meglio quanto oggi la serialità sia il mezzo perfetto per espandere, tramandare, rinnovare le pellicole della nostra memoria. E Willow, traslato nel coraggio leggendario di Warwick Davis, è a tutti gli effetti la dimostrazione che anche il fantasy può essere un genere leggero, in grado di parlare verticalmente a tutti. "Nessuno sceglie la propria vita", dice la sovrana Sorsha (di nuovo interpretata da Joanne Whalley), riferendosi alle aspettative della giovane Dove (Ellie Bamber), in una delle prime scende del pilot. Appare dunque chiaro quanto il retaggio del cult Anni Ottanta (all'epoca già molto inclusivo) sia mutato in qualcosa di contemporaneo, in cui c'è una netta differenza tra il dentro e il fuori il castello di Tir Asleen.
Un fantasy on-the-road
Tumblr media
Willow: Warwick Davis in una scena
Sviluppata da Jonathan Kasdan e Wendy Mericle (Ron Howard figura come produttore esecutivo), e divisa in otto episodi, la serie tv di Willow, tra influenze vintage e duelli di cappa e di spada, è dunque il sogno che torna ad accendersi, capace di scavare il nostro strambo ma confortevole bisogno di magia. Del resto, è l'immaginazione che legava la pellicola del 1988, di cui la serie, come detto, è diretto seguito. Una narrazione in cui gli archetipi del genere sono rimessi al centro dell'attenzione, a cominciare dal click che scatenerà gli eventi. I cattivi di turno? Ovviamente le forze del male, che irrompono a Tir Asleen rapendo uno dei figli di Sorsha, il prince Airk (Dempsey Bryk). Per salvarlo, sua sorella Kit (Ruby Cruz), al fianco dell'amica Jade (Erin Kellyman), intraprendono un viaggio tra i regni per salvarlo. Ma non saranno sole, e il viaggio - Willow potrebbe considerarsi quasi un fantasy on-the-road - viene condiviso da una sgangherata banda di coraggiosi personaggi (Ellie Bamber, Tony Revolori, Amar Chada-Patel). Ciononostante, l'unico che può aiutarli è il leggendario Willow, l'ultimo stregone rimasto.
Tumblr media
Una scena della serie Willow
Willow è tornato. Per noi
Tumblr media
Willow: Warwick Davis in una scena
Tra aperture musicali e aperture visive (le location naturali, alcune giĂ  viste nel film di Howard, sono un plus assoluto), spassose deviazioni e richiami attuali - "Conto su di te come se fossi un cavaliere", dice Sorsha a Jade, mostrando la chiave egualitaria del prodotto -, Willow gioca con il fattore nostalgia e con l'epica di genere (che a sua volta lascia terreno ai dialoghi), allungando lo sguardo sui tanti punti di vista della storia. Anche perchĂŠ la serie deve necessariamente correre su due binari. Da una parte i fan della pellicola diretta da Ron Howard, dall'altra le nuove generazioni che si ritroveranno, insieme a Willow e alla compagnia, a lottare contro le Forze del Male.
Tumblr media
Willow: un'immagine della serie
C'è bisogno di unione, di condivisione e di amore, suggerisce lo script, fortemente inseguito da Jon Kasdan fin dai tempi del sottovalutato Solo: A Star Wars Story, nel quale recitavano Warwick Davis ed Erin Kellyman. "Ho fatto un sogno, e in cuor mio lo sapevo. È quello che accadrà se non cambiamo le cose. È giunto il tempo. Il nemico è ancora lÏ fuori", confida il mago Willow a Sorsha in uno dei molti slanci nelle due prime puntate; uno slancio che non possiamo non affiancare alla nostra realtà, cosÏ sfilacciata e imprevedibile. Per questo, il ritorno dello stregone Willow coincide con la marcata necessità di ritrovare una strada da percorrere. Una strada che ci porti finalmente lontano dall'oscurità. E magari piÚ vicino ai concetti di sogno, di bontà e di fervida immaginazione. "Oltre i confini del mondo, dentro l'ignoto". Allora, in una digressione dalle sfumature commoventi, sembra lampante: Willow è tornato per noi, perchÊ non smettessimo di credere nella magia.
Conclusioni
Una vera gioia rivedere un film cult attraverso il linguaggio seriale. Concludo la recensione di Willow, la Serie, concentrandomi tanto sull'effetto nostalgia quanto sulle innovazione visivi e narrative, che rendono il prodotto moderno e contemporaneo. Rivedere Warwick Davis è una gioia, ma il plus è Erin Kellyman, giovane e promettente attrice britannica.
Perché ci piace👍🏻
Le vibrazioni nostalgiche.
L'idea che il sequel di un film cult possa divenire una serie.
Il cast, a cominciare da Erin Kellyman.
La musica.
Le location, in gran parte naturali.
Cosa non va👎🏻
Il rilascio settimanale, forse un'arma a doppio taglio.
Disney+ che ha rimosso la serie dalla piattaforma, prima dandola per cancellata poi solo in pausa, una pausa che però sembra tanto una vera e propria cancellazione. Sta di fatto che non ha dato la possibilità al prodotto di poter raggiungere nel tempo i piÚ, ciò che a conti fatti è successe al film alla sua uscita non apprezzato appieno e poi trasformatosi in un cult.
East Texas church pays legal bills for anti-abortion lawyer
Tumblr media
A small church in East Texas with little online presence and no publicly advertised worship schedule has been covering legal defense fees for prominent anti-abortion lawyer Jonathan Mitchell in multiple recent cases.
According to new court testimony from Mitchell and the church’s pastor, Mark Lee Dickson, the Longview-based Sovereign Love Church has repeatedly paid Mitchell, who famously authored the state’s sixweek abortion ban, known as Senate Bill 8.
Tumblr media
That includes payment for his work defending Dickson in a defamation case, and for his legal advice in crafting local abortion travel ban ordinances and in defending SB 8.
Dickson is a wellknown anti-abortion activist who has led the effort to pass local bans on travel for the purpose of helping someone obtain an abortion.
Tumblr media
Mitchell is the former Texas solicitor general who has defended former President Donald Trump in court and is a leading national figure in the anti-abortion movement.
youtube
Their testimony came during a hearing last month about a legal fee dispute at the end of a defamation case against Dickson filed by the Lilith Fund for Reproductive Equity, which provides financial and logistical support for pregnant Texans to access abortion where it’s still legal.
Tumblr media
Neither Dickson nor Mitchell could say on the stand who was behind the donations that the church used to fund the legal work.
The statements shed light on how several of the myriad abortion-related lawsuits that have cropped up since the fall of Roe v. Wade are being covered financially.
Sovereign Love Church, sometimes written as SovereignLOVE, was incorporated in 2001, according to a ProPublica database of nonprofit records.
It is listed in the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention’s online directory.
The church appears to have formerly had an office in northwest Longview, about two hours east of Dallas.
But it has since closed, according to Google Maps, and the church does not have a website or social media profile.
It has received funding from various Christian groups over the years, including $25,000 in 2022 from the National Christian Charitable Foundation Inc., one of the largest nonprofits and Christian grantmakers in the U.S., according to public nonprofit disclosure forms.
It also took in about $100,000 between 2020 and 2022 from another Christian grantmaking group, a Lubbock- based foundation called WTAB.
While it’s not unusual or illegal for a third party to pay for someone else’s legal fees, the revelation brings some transparency to an area of politics that is typically dark to the public, said Mary Ziegler, a law professor at the University of California, Davis School of Law who studies the abortion debate.
“It gives you a different sense of who’s a power player in the anti-abortion movement, not just in Texas but in general,” Ziegler said of the testimony in Dickson’s case.
“It opens up the possibility certainly that his church is a more significant player in Texas and outside of Texas than we thought,” she added, “and there may be — although it’s hard to say without more evidence — other churches that satisfy that criteria.”
Ziegler said the role of churches in political advocacy has been a source of controversy, as many carry out activities similar to lobbyists but are not subject to the same disclosure rules.
They’re also exempt from the disclosure requirements that nonprofits with designations allowing for partisan or nonpartisan advocacy must follow, she said.
During the hearing, Dickson testified that he is the pastor of the church but does not collect a regular salary and was not compensated by the church for his employment.
He said he held various jobs, including security officer roles, to make money.
In an interview earlier this year, Dickson told Texas Monthly that the church has a “rotation” of leaders.
The 39-yearold activist frequently travels around the country to advocate for his “sanctuary cities for the unborn” effort, “so is currently unable to lead Bible studies or services that meet at different locations.”
Dickson testified last month that he had been raising money for the church since at least June 2020 for Mitchell’s legal defense in abortion-related cases.
He said he solicited donations from people both inside and outside the church for the bulk of his legal defense in the defamation case, which added up to about $200,000.
But he said he could not recall the names of any of them except for his late grandmother, who was not a member.
It included “different people that I’ve known over the years who were supportive of the work that I’ve done,” he said. “Too many to name, a multitude of different people.”
Pressed on how many, Dickson said it was more than 100 people.
He said he could not recall the amount of the largest donation.
The Lilith Fund’s lawyer, Elizabeth Myers, seemed incredulous.
“Can you remember a single person as you sit here today under oath?” Myers asked.
Lawyers for the Lilith Fund were able to obtain documents and information about the church’s role in the litigation because of a quirk in the state law that only allows a person who “incurred” the cost of legal defense to collect attorney’s fees.
The Lilith Fund had accused Dickson in its suit of defaming the organization years ago when he referred to it on social media as a “criminal organization.”
In early 2023, the Texas Supreme Court ruled in favor of Dickson — who was represented by Mitchell — finding that his statements were opinions protected by free speech.
The high court remanded the case to the lower court to settle up fees, normally a routine affair that can sometimes be settled with a simple email exchange.
But in this case, it set off a second-round legal battle when the Lilith Fund’s lawyers initially struggled to get information from Mitchell on his contract and fee arrangement.
A Travis County judge ruled from the bench last month that the Lilith Fund would not have to pay most of Mitchell’s fees.
Mitchell and Dickson did not respond to a request for comment, including whether they would appeal.
Myers declined to comment until the judge’s written opinion is released.
After multiple informal requests for information that Mitchell did not fully answer, the Lilith Fund’s attorneys made formal requests through the court to obtain documents that would prove whether Dickson or some other entity was liable for the attorney’s fees.
The whole process took about a year and a half.
Mitchell testified that Dickson had originally wished to keep the name of the church out of the public record because he has felt attacked by Myers and abortion rights advocates.
(Dickson had requested the judge sanction Myers and her co-counsel for half a million dollars, arguing that their pursuit of information about the church was harassment; the judge denied that motion.)
“It was not easy to persuade him” to divulge the name of the church, Mitchell said.
“Mr. Dickson didn’t trust you. He did not want you to have information about his church. He thought you were going to use it for malicious purposes.”
Dickson testified that Mitchell had told all 69 cities across the U.S. that have passed travel ban ordinances that he would defend them in court at no cost to them.
Dickson said he had conveyed that offer more than once to city officials. Asked whether the plan was for Sovereign Love to cover those costs, Dickson said there was no agreement on that. Myers asked who was going to pay, and Dickson said he did not know.
The Lilith Fund had accused Dickson in its suit of defaming the organization years ago when he referred to it on social media as a “criminal organization.”
In early 2023, the Texas Supreme Court ruled in favor of Dickson.
Oscar: curiositĂ , numeri e record a poche ore dalla cerimonia
(Adnkronos) - Partiamo dal film italiano candidato come Miglior Film Internazionale alla 96esima cerimonia degli Oscar: 'Io capitano' è il trentatreesimo film italiano della storia candidato all’Oscar per il miglior film internazionale, quello che negli anni passati veniva chiamato 'film straniero'. Il regista Matteo Garrone è in gara per la prima volta: se dovesse vincere, diventerebbe il quindicesimo italiano nella storia dell’Academy, consolidando il nostro primato nella categoria. L’ultimo film italiano a vincere fu, dieci anni fa, 'La grande bellezza' di Paolo Sorrentino; l’ultimo candidato, nel 2022, 'È stata la mano di Dio', sempre di Sorrentino. Sul fronte delle interpretazioni, una curiositĂ  riguarda le attrici candidate come migliori protagoniste del 2024. Emma Stone è infatti una delle grandi favorite per la sua interpretazione in 'Povere Creature'. Sarebbe la seconda volta per lei, dopo essersi aggiudicata nel 2017 lo stesso premio per 'La La Land': se vincesse, l'attrice entrerebbe a far parte di quelle pochissime e selezionatissime attrici che hanno conquistato due Oscar entro i 35 anni: Meryl Streep, Jodie Foster, Elizabeth Taylor, Bette Davis, Luise Rainer, Olivia de Havilland e Hilary Swank). Incredibilmente, nessun attore è mai riuscito nell'impresa. 'Povere creature!', il film di cui è protagonista la Stone, è il quinto film vincitore del Leone d’Oro dal 2017 a ricevere la candidatura per l’Oscar al miglior film, e con 11 candidature si piazza al secondo posto dopo il frontrunner 'Oppenheimer' (13). Per Yorgos Lanthimos è il secondo tentativo per agguantare il premio per la regia: in caso di vittoria sarebbe il primo di origini greche. Per il secondo anno consecutivo, il vincitore della Palma d’Oro è candidato all’Oscar per il miglior film: è 'Anatomia di una caduta', che non è stato selezionato dalla Francia per il miglior film internazionale (il designato The Taste of Thing è rimasto fuori) e ha poi raccolto 5 nomination, tutte importanti. 'Perfect Days' è invece il primo film di Wim Wenders in gara per l’Oscar al film internazionale. Il maestro tedesco, 79 anni il prossimo agosto, aveva ricevuto tre candidature per il miglior documentario (2000 con 'Buena Vista Social Club', 2012 con 'Pina' e 2015 con 'Il sale della terra'). 'Killers of the Flower Moon' con 10 nomination permette a Martin Scorsese di superare Steven Spielberg, diventando il regista in attivitĂ  con il maggior numero di candidature (dieci, la prima nel 1980 con Toro scatenato; in bacheca ha solo una statuetta per The Departed, 2006). Meglio di lui solo William Wyler (12). Quest’anno è anche l’unico americano in cinquina (gli altri, oltre ai citati Lanthimos e Triet, sono i britannici Jonathan Glazer e Christopher Nolan). La sua protagonista, Lily Gladstone, diventa la prima nativa americana in corsa per l’Oscar alla miglior attrice. E Robert De Niro ottiene la nona nomination in carriera, l’ottava per l’interpretazione: il primo l’Oscar come miglior attore non protagonista lo vinse esattamente mezzo secolo fa con Il padrino – Parte II. Agli Oscar trionfa anche l'amore: ci sono ben quattro coppie nella vita e nel lavoro candidate agli Oscar 2024. Sono Christopher Nolan ed Emma Thomas, entrambi produttori di 'Oppenheimer'; Greta Gerwig e Noah Baumbach, sceneggiatori di 'Barbie'; Justine Triet e Arthur Harari, sceneggiatori di 'Anatomia di una caduta' e Margot Robbie e Tom Ackerley, candidati per la produzione sempre dello stesso film. John Williams, 92 anni il prossimo 8 febbraio, si conferma uomo dei record: il leggendario compositore, giĂ  vincitore di cinque Oscar, ottiene la nomination numero 54 grazie a Indiana Jones e il quadrante del destino, consolidando il primato assoluto come individuo vivente piĂš nominato nella storia dell’Academy (meglio di lui solo Walt Disney con 59). E la cantautrice Diane Warren arriva a quota 15 con la canzone The Fire Inside da Flamin’ Hot: anche stavolta non sembra destinata alla vittoria, ma l’anno scorso l’Academy l’ha giĂ  ricompensata con un Oscar alla carriera. Jodie Foster, giĂ  vincitrice di due Oscar e in corsa come non protagonista per 'Nyad', ottiene la quinta nomination in quarantasette anni, a ventinove anni dall’ultimo tentativo. Annette Bening, protagonista di 'Nyad', mai premiata finora, prova l’assalto alla statuetta per la quinta volta in trentatrĂŠ anni. E Bradley Cooper, grazie a 'Maestro' da lui diretto, prodotto, scritto e interpretato, arriva a 12 nomination in carriera. [email protected] (Web Info) Foto fornita da AdnKronos Read the full article
Korn (monografia) Pt. 1
Tumblr media
I Korn debuttano nel 1994, all’insegna di una nuova tendenza che si può dire creata da loro, ovvero il nu metal. Il loro primo album (eponimo), presenta questo stile che ha in sé qualcosa di grezzo, viscerale, animale, un nuovo modo di percepire la musica metal. Le note, i riff vengono stesi direttamente e con grande violenza, senza preoccuparsi di creare chissà quale struttura compositiva barocca (come invece succedeva negli anni 80). È anche la fine del virtuosismo musicale: questo genere si contraddistingue per la semplicità dell’esecuzione e l’attenzione per dettagli che prima sembravano ininfluenti - questo non esclude del tutto delle capacità tecniche, ma le limita ad alcuni aspetti innovativi che non sono per forza ad esempio l’essere virtuosi di uno strumento in generale, ma piuttosto fare funzionare discograficamente tutto l’insieme. Nel caso dei Korn, quello che colpisce della loro musica oltre alla brutalità e crudezza del suono, è certamente il carisma del frontman Jonathan Davis, un vero e proprio genio musicale se posso dire la mia opinione. Davis guida il gruppo con fermezza e crea l’archetipo di un nuovo personaggio: quello di una persona malata, un freak controverso e fuori di testa che sfoga la sua rabbia attraverso il canto. La storia si ripete per un ciclo di almeno tre dischi, il primo, il secondo (Life Is Peachy 1996), e il terzo (Follow the Leader 1998), quando Issues nel 1999 cambia nuovamente il paradigma inspessendo e appesantendo ulteriormente il loro sound, che diventa davvero ambiguo e inquietante. L’oscurità sprigionata dalla musica dei Korn ha qualcosa di ipnotico, maledetto, e spaventosamente controverso. Scava nei recessi dell’animo umano senza neanche dare all’ascoltatore una soluzione finale. Issues diventa il blueprint per Untouchables (2002), e Take a Look in the Mirror (2003), un’altra caratteristica dei Korn è infatti quella di avere una grande facilità nella scrittura - nella loro carriera hanno scritto decine di pezzi, tutti più o meno buoni, e con un ritmo elevato di uscita degli album.
Genova: torna quest’anno il Sant’Apollinare International Piano Festival
Tumblr media
Genova: torna quest’anno il Sant’Apollinare International Piano Festival. A Genova torna il Sant’Apollinare International Piano Festival, giunto alla terza edizione e organizzato dall’Associazione di promozione sociale Berceuse, nata dalla volontĂ  di alcuni cittadini genovesi di consorziarsi per portare a Sant' Apollinare-Sori e l'arte della musica associata alla peculiaritĂ  del territorio. Il Festival, presentato oggi presso la Sala Trasparenza della Regione Liguria, propone una serie di concerti pianistici all'aperto, sul sagrato prospiciente la piccola chiesetta millenaria della frazione del Comune di Sori. In particolare, il 21, il 27 e il 30 giugno sono in programma tre concerti con artisti di fama internazionale, provenienti da Inghilterra, Germania e Giappone. Nel concerto di apertura del 21 giugno si esibirĂ  il pianista e direttore artistico del Festival Adolfo Barabino. Per la formazione da camera il 27 giugno saranno protagonisti insieme a Barabino, al pianoforte, il violinista Joseph Wolfe, figlio del famosissimo direttore d'orchestra inglese Sir Colin Davis, il primo violoncello della Royal Philharmonic Orchestra di Londra Jonathan Ayling, che ha appena suonato nell' orchestra in Inghilterra durante l' incoronazione di Re Carlo III. Il 30 giugno ci sarĂ  il concerto solistico della pianista Valentina Igoshina, concertista di fama internazionale. "Questo Festival, giunto alla terza edizione, si consolida come uno dei fondamentali elementi che costituiscono la ricchezza del nostro territorio", afferma il presidente e assessore alla Cultura della Regione Liguria Giovanni Toti e poi continua,  "La Liguria, infatti, non solo ha il mare piĂš bello d’Italia, campione di Bandiere Blu, ma è tutta da scoprire, anche nell’entroterra in cui sono incastonati piccoli borghi, unici e suggestivi. Questo Festival consente di immergersi nell’atmosfera della piccola frazione del Comune di Sori per rimanere incantati dalla musica classica sul sagrato della chiesa millenaria, affacciata sul mare. Ringrazio quindi il direttore artistico del Festival, uno dei protagonisti anche dell’edizione di quest’anno, e tutti coloro che contribuiscono alla sua realizzazione - conclude - richiamando a Sant’Apollinare musicisti di fama internazionale”. Il direttore artistico della kermesse, il pianista Adolfo Barabino, vanta una trentennale attivitĂ  concertistica quasi interamente svolta all'estero: considerato uno dei migliori interpreti di Chopin della sua generazione, ha giĂ  realizzato 11 tournee in Giappone dove ritornerĂ  il prossimo dicembre e il suo disco con il concerto di Chopin no.2 op.21 inciso a Londra con la London Symphony Orchestra è stato nominato al Grammy Awards. Dal 2019 è membro della giuria del ‘Concours intemational de piano Nice Cote d'Azur’, ha appena presenziato a Verona come presidente di commissione in giuria per la finale italiana del concorso pianistico Steinway 2023 e tra i prossimi impegni eseguirĂ  a Londra tutti i cinque concerti di Beethoven per pianoforte e orchestra con la English Chamber Orchestra. Era suo desiderio portare a Sant'Apollinare dei concerti di musica classica, creando un sorprendente connubio fra la musica e il silenzio che avvolge questo luogo, sospeso tra il cielo e il mare. L'ingresso è gratuito, ad offerta libera. SarĂ  garantito il servizio navetta nella tratta San Bartolomeo - Sant' Apollinare - Sori. Per poter partecipare è necessaria la prenotazione contattando la proloco di Sori (0185 700681) oppure inviando una mail all’associazione Berceuse [email protected].... #notizie #news #breakingnews #cronaca #politica #eventi #sport #moda Read the full article
PFN's fantasy football cheat sheet is here to help you with your tough Week 4 decisions and also to provide you with Underdog Pick'em advice. NFL Fantasy Football Draft cheat sheet for standard scoring format · 1. Justin Jefferson · 2. Cooper Kupp · 3. Ja'Marr Chase · 4. Tyreek Hill. Up to date Fantasy cheat sheet for standard scoring. No need to prepare your Draft, whether you're a beginner or experienced player, just use this list and you'll be set. In Standard Scoring Leagues you don't get points for receptions, so you will have to prioritize touchdown-heavy players. In this format, running backs are going to be a priority, so they have a slight edge over wide receiver. However, a receiving running back is also important because you have double the chance to score. If your league allows it, I would start three RBs every week. These will get you the most touchdowns besides a quarterback. So, remember to do after those red zone threats. In the end, they will make the difference when it comes to Standard Scoring formats. The much-talked about production did not disappoint; the modernized visuals create many new layers to the show, and make you think about events and characters in a whole new way. Nehal, Allison, Justin, and Christia were probably my favorites, but the entire cast is so talented, it’s difficult to choose any as standouts. A very nice capture overall. There are a couple quick dropouts in act one, but no major blackouts. There is one head that can be seen occasionally, but it only blocks a small portion of the stage and only affects the action for about 20-30 seconds of the entire show. It’s filmed in 16:9, with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. The sound is excellent as usual. Includes curtain call and playbill scans. Les Misérables - Duisburg - 1996 (Pro-Shot's master) FORMAT:  MP4 (SD) CAST: Jerzy Jeszke (Jean Valjean), Hardy Rudolz (Javert), Cornelia Drese (Fantine), Deborah Dutcher (Cosette), Felix Martin (Marius), Sanni Luis (Éponine), Martin Berger (Enjolras), Tom Zahner (Thénardier), Anne Welte (Madame Thénardier), Willi Welp (The Bishop) Les Misérables - Dutch Revival - Spring, 2008 FORMAT:  MP4 (SD) CAST: René van Kooten (Jean Valjean), Wim van den Driessche (Javert), Nurlaila Karim (Fantine), Suzan Seegers (Cosette), Jamai Loman (Marius), Céline Purcell (Éponine), Freek Bartels (Enjolras), Gerben Grimmius (u/s Thénardier), Marjolein Algera (Madame Thénardier) NOTES: Complete show, Amateur capture A, Double dvd Les Misérables - Fifth National Tour - October 5, 2018 (hitmewithyourbethshot's master) FORMAT:  MP4 (HD) CAST: Nick Cartell (Jean Valjean), Josh Davis (Javert), Mary Kate Moore (Fantine), Jillian Butler (Cosette), Joshua Grosso (Marius), Paige Smallwood (Éponine), Matt Shingledecker (Enjolras), J Anthony Crane (Thénardier), Allison Guinn (Madame Thénardier), Sam Middleton (Gavroche), Cate Elefante (u/s Little Cosette), Matt Moisey (Grantaire), Monte J Howell (Combeferre), Tim Quartier (s/w Feuilly), Christopher Viljoen (Courfeyrac), Patrick Rooney (Jean Prouvaire), Gabriel Sidney Brown (Joly), Andrew Maughan (Lesgles), Felipe Barbosa Bombonato (Babet), John Ambrosino (Claquesous), Steve Czarnecki (Factory Foreman), Ashley Dawn Mortensen (Factory Girl), John Ambrosino (Bamatabois) Les Misérables - First Broadway Revival - November 11, 2006 FORMAT:  VOB (with smalls) (SD) CAST: Victor Hawks (u/s Jean Valjean), Norm Lewis (Javert), Daphne Rubin-Vega (Fantine), Ali Ewoldt (Cosette), Adam Jacobs (Marius), Celia Keenan-Bolger (Éponine), Aaron Lazar (Enjolras), Gary Beach (Thénardier), Jenny Galloway (Madame Thénardier), Jacob Levine (Gavroche), Drew Sarich (Grantaire) NOTES: A nice capture here of Victor as Valjean. The capture is a little on the dark side, but still enjoyable. Les Misérables - First Broadway Revival - February 17, 2007 FORMAT:  MP4 (HD) CAST: Alexander Gemignani (Jean Valjean), Norm Lewis (Javert), Daphne Rubin-Vega (Fantine), Ali Ewoldt (Cosette), Adam Jacobs (Marius), Celia Keenan-Bolger (Éponine), Drew Sarich (u/s Enjolras), Gary Beach (Thénardier), Jenny Galloway (Madame Thénardier), Jacob Levine (Gavroche) NOTES: A really nice video of the first broadway revival. Widescreen. Cleaned up nicely in remastering. And it has Sarich. Drew and Ann give great performances in their roles. The second disc also includes the first 15 minutes of the February 24, 2007 Evening show, filmed from the rear right orchestra. It includes most of the show. Loud excited audience. Blind shot from stage right third row, with no zooms. Keala Settle sprained her ankle at some point between The Robbery and One Day More, resulting in her not being in One Day More and using a cane during Wedding Chorale/Beggars at the Feast. It’s refreshing to see different faces in the lead roles, and both Nathaniel and Earl carry the show well. Nathaniel’s vocals are powerful and he has a great rapport with Caissie and Samantha. A lovely capture overall with no obstruction. Look Down is mostly blacked out and there are a couple quick dropouts during The Bishop scene and Lovely Ladies, but the show is otherwise fully intact. There is also some washout in high contrast wide shots. It’s filmed in 16:9, with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. The sound is excellent. Includes curtain call and playbill scans. He first understudied in 1999, when JOJ was the principal, which may explain the similarity. About half of the Chain Gang song missing and filming starts in earnest during Valjean on parole. Other parts missed because of ushers include several random one-second cover-ups, part of the wedding and about half of Finale. Heads in the way sometimes block the action on the lower right of the stage, but they are shot around well. Vantage point provides some interesting views such as of Fantine during Lovely Ladies. Wonderful performances from the entire cast but especially then soon-to-be-Elphaba Kerry Ellis. Page 7: After multiple delays, David Schwimmer, Courteney Cox, Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry and Matt LeBlanc have finally filmed the highly anticipated Friends reunion special and they all got really emotional when they saw the set and being there brought back so many fond memories -- it's the first time in 17 years that fans will get to see the entire cast together since the show went off the air in 2004 -- afterwards, everyone went to Jen's house for dinner -- each of the stars was paid $2.5 million to appear in the special
* Becoming one of the most sought-after stars in Hollywood has gone straight to Ana de Armas' head -- the cast and crew are often left waiting for the actress to emerge from her trailer on the set of the new action thriller The Gray Man -- Ana's got a lot going on and she's juggling several different projects, as well as photo shoots and phone calls with her team and people don't stay mad at her for too long, but they have nicknamed her Ana de Diva, but she isn't upset by the scathing moniker because she's a big name now, and with that comes a lot of responsibility and the way she sees it, there are worse things than being called a diva
Page 20: Pete Davidson has officially moved out of his mother's home and into a $1.2 million luxury high-rise condo on Staten Island, and it's all thanks to his new girl girlfriend, Bridgerton star Phoebe Dynevor -- the Saturday Night Live star showed off his two-bedroom, two-and-a-half bathroom bachelor pad during a Zoom call -- Phoebe is a down-to-earth girl, but she doesn't want to date a man who lives in his mom's basement and she thinks Pete's mom, Amy, is awesome and says it's a great thing that they're super close, but being in a long-distance relationship is difficult enough so Pete and Phoebe need some alone time when they're together, which was almost impossible with his mother hanging out upstairs -- Pete knew it was time; he just needed that gentle nudge
Page 21: Matt James and Rachael Kirkconnell were spotted in NYC together, sparking speculation that the former Bachelor couple have rekindled their relationship -- the pair parted ways while the show was still airing after photos of the graphic designer at a plantation-themed college party in 2018 surfaced on social media -- Rachael made a mistake but she owned up to it and was willing to learn from it and it didn't change her feelings for Matt or vice versa and Matt was in love with Rachael too and he couldn't just turn those feelings off so no one would be surprised if they decided to reconcile
* Michael B. Jordan's girlfriend Lori Harvey was left reeling over photos of the actor sharing a smooch with Chante Adams on the set of their new movie A Journal for Jordan -- of course, they were just shooting a scene for the film, but Lori was still annoyed and she asked Michael about it, and he brushed it off and explained it was part of the job but Lori still has her suspicions and she's been thinking about dropping by the set just so she can keep a very close eye on them
Texas man files legal action to probe ex-partner’s out-of-state abortion
Tumblr media
The previously unreported petition reflects a potential new antiabortion strategy to block women from ending their pregnancies in states where abortion is legal.
As soon as Collin Davis found out his ex-partner was planning to travel to Colorado to have an abortion in late February, the Texas man retained a high-powered antiabortion attorney — who court records show immediately issued a legal threat.
If the woman proceeded with the abortion, even in a state where the procedure remains legal, Davis would seek a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the abortion and “pursue wrongful-death claims against anyone involved in the killing of his unborn child,” the lawyer wrote in a letter, according to records.
The U.S. fight over abortion
Texas Woman In Legal Peril For Out-Of-State Abortion
The Washington Post reports:As soon as Collin Davis found out his ex-partner was planning to travel to Colorado to have an abortion in late February, the Texas man retained a high-powered antiabortion attorney — who court records show immediately issued a legal threat.
Now, Davis has disclosed his former partner’s abortion to a state district court in Texas, asking for the power to investigate what his lawyer characterizes as potentially illegal activity in a state where almost all abortions are banned.
Davis’s petition was filed under Texas’s Rule 202 by Jonathan Mitchell, a prominent antiabortion attorney known for devising new and aggressive legal strategies to crack down on abortion.
Mitchell appeared here in 2022 for his lawsuit seeking to block insurance coverage for PrEP medications because they “encourage homosexual behavior.”
Also in 2022, Mitchell filed six separate lawsuits seeking to dismantle LGBTQ rights, including the Supreme Court’s Obergefell ruling.
TX Judge:
Insurance Coverage For HIV PrEP Pill Violates Religious Rights And “Enables Homosexual Behavior”
The Advocate reports:
A federal judge in Texas has ruled partially in favor of plaintiffs that argued that requiring insurance companies to cover medications for HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis, or PrEP, violates their rights on religious grounds.
Jonathan Mitchell, who founded a one-person law firm in 2018 intending to challenge decades-old Supreme Court rulings, brought the case Braidwood Management Inc., vs. Xavier Becerra, in the Northern District of Texas.
There, United States district judge Reed O’Conner ruled in favor of plaintiffs who argued that paying for insurance that covers PrEP violates their religious beliefs because PrEP “enable[s and encourages] homosexual behavior.”
The Dallas Morning News reported in July:
Right now, a half dozen cases on everything from insurance coverage for HIV prevention to employment discrimination and same-sex marriage are wending their way through state and federal courts here.
Their outcomes could radically alter rights for LGBTQ people in Texas and across the country.
The lawsuits all have one thing in common: former Texas solicitor general Jonathan Mitchell.
Best known as the man behind the state law that allows Texans to file civil lawsuits against people who help pregnant people get abortions, Mitchell opened up a law firm in Austin four years ago with the goal of systematically dismantling decades of court rulings he believes depart from the U.S. Constitution.
O’Connor, a George W. Bush appointee, regularly rules against Democratic administrations and Democrat-backed policies — leading conservative plaintiffs to seek him out to judge their cases.
He has ruled against the ACA or ACA-related policies multiple times. — Chris “Subscribe to Law Dork!” Geidner (@chrisgeidner)
September 7, 2022 O’Connor also has a history of anti-LGBTQ rulings, both as to marriage and Title IX’s sex discrimination ban.
He also has a history of overstepping, even in this era, and his rulings have repeatedly been reversed on appeal or effectively overturned by contrary SCOTUS opinions. — Chris
“Subscribe to Law Dork!” Geidner (@chrisgeidner) September 7, 2022
Once again, the exact thing we said was going to happen, vis-à-vis the horrific Texas legislation allowing people to sue anyone who “aids and abets” an abortion, is happening.
At some point this year, a Texas woman made the decision to run off to Colorado to seek an abortion in order to avoid giving birth to the purported child of one Collin Davis.
Given what we know about this Collin Davis character, this is the smartest possible decision she could have made, as having his child would have meant being chained to him for life in some capacity — and he sure seems like a goddamned nightmare.
In February, when Davis found out that she was considering this, he immediately retained Jonathan Mitchell, who is the architect of the Texas law and also the absolute spitting image of Robert, the haunted Edwardian-era doll who destroys the lives of Florida tourists who disrespect him.
Did I lie?
Mitchell then sent her a “legal threat” meant to keep her from having the abortion. It did not work (thank goodness).
Now that his ex has had the abortion, Collin and Mitchell are still hoping to ruin her life by filing a petition to investigate her and anyone he believes aided and abetted her in getting the abortion.
Via Washington Post:
In the Davis case, Mitchell is attempting to depose the woman who had the abortion, along with several other people he writes may be “complicit” in the abortion.
If deposed, they would be asked about others involved in the abortion, including any abortion funds or any other entities that provided financial support, according to court records.
They would also have to provide all documentation relevant to the abortion.
“Mr. Davis expects to be able to better evaluate the prospects for legal success after deposing [the people listed], and discovering the identity of their co-conspirators and accomplices,” Mitchell wrote in the complaint, which he filed on March 22.
He is able to do this because of Texas’s Rule 202, which allows for an investigation prior to filing a lawsuit.
Davis, who we don’t know isn’t related somehow to Texas oil tycoon Cullen Davis who allegedly killed his stepdaughter and attempted to have his soon-to-be-ex-wife and the judge in their divorce proceedings killed, is clearly just trying to continue to exercise control over his ex and everyone she knows — because that is what men like him do.
That is, in fact, exactly why it was a good idea for her to have an abortion.
He’s not the first man to try and pull this either.
In March of last year, a man named Marcus Silva was also represented by Jonathan Mitchell.
Silva was very open — at least to his ex — about the fact that he was using the threat of the lawsuit to force her to continue having sex with him and cleaning his house.
MARCUS SILVA: You’re not considering what can happen to you if I continue to do this sh*t for the next 40 years.
BRITTNI SILVA: Marcus, I’m not gonna be f*cking blackmailed into having sex with you.
MARCUS SILVA: Then you’re just gonna have your fcking life destroyed in every fcking way that you can imagine to where you want to blow your f*cking brains out.
What a peach!
So far, we haven’t heard from Collin Davis’s ex, but I think we can all be pretty sure that when we do, she’ll likely have a very similar story to tell.
Any man who would sue his ex’s friends and family over helping her get an abortion is at least psychologically abusive.
I’ve always found the “Let’s do Lysistrata!” thing extremely cringe, as we no longer really live in a society in which women are regularly sexually involved with men who hold diametrically opposite views to them and also have any particular power to change anything.
Like, it is unclear what a woman going on a sex strike from their equally antiwar or pro-abortion rights partner, who has no more political power than she does, would actually accomplish.
It also presumes that all women share the same opinions on things and that sex is a favor they do for men.
I could go on about this for a bit, but I will spare you.
What I will say, however, is that if I lived in Texas (I would not live in Texas), I would be getting me to a convent, because there is no way in hell that I would trust any man in that state to not try to ruin my life if we broke up and I needed to get an abortion.
Absolutely not, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone else either.
Judges decided that the Due Process Clause of the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution provides a “right to privacy,” which protects an individual’s right to choose whether to carry their pregnancy to full-term or not.
ABORTION RIGHTS
Out-of-state travel under fire
Man asks to investigate former partner’s trip to have procedure done
A Texas man is seeking information about his former partner’s alleged out-of-state abortion, setting the stage for one of the first attempts to sue those who help Texans access the procedure in a state where it’s legal.
The man — represented by the high-profile anti-abortion lawyer Jonathan Mitchell — has asked a Texas state district court permission to investigate potentially illegal activity regarding the abortion under an unusual legal move that allows lawyers to collect supporting information ahead of filing a lawsuit.
Mitchell did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Collin Davis, the man behind the sealed petition, sought legal action when he learned his former partner planned to travel to Colorado for the abortion, according to reporting by The Washington Post .
Abortion is illegal in Texas in nearly all circumstances under a trio of overlapping laws that prohibit the procedure.
Senate Bill 8, enacted in September of 2021 and known as the Texas Heartbeat Act, allows private individuals to sue anyone who performs or aids an abortion after the detection of fetal cardiac activity.
The petition posits Davis could sue under either SB8 or the state’s wrongful death statute.
The legal action is the latest attempt by antiabortion activists to stop Texas women from leaving the state to seek abortion care.
Some cities and counties have passed ordinances to ban people from using their roads to get to out-of-state clinics.
In Idaho, it’s now illegal to help a minor leave the state to terminate a pregnancy.
Testing the law
The petition isn’t Mitchell’s first attempt to test the limits of SB8, the law he’s known to have shaped.
He previously filed a case, which could go to trial later this year, on behalf of a Galveston man who wants to sue friends of his ex-wife who allegedly helped her source abortion pills.
“Fathers of aborted fetuses can sue for wrongful death in states with abortion bans, even if the abortion occurs out-of-state,” Mitchell said in a statement shared with The Washington Post .
Under state law, women who seek abortions cannot be charged, but those who “aid or abet” abortions can be.
“Mr. Davis is considering whether to sue individuals and organizations that participated in the murder of his unborn child,” Mitchell wrote in Davis’ complaint in March, according to The Washington Post.
The Center for Reproductive Rights — the legal organization representing dozens of Texas women in a court case challenging the state’s abortion bans — is representing the woman in the petition, who remains unnamed out of concern for her safety.
Tumblr media
Marc Hearron, a lead attorney at the center, said the petition is meant to serve as a scare tactic against Texas women considering abortions across state lines.
“This is part of a broader trend that we predicted when Dobbs overturned Roe that that’s not going to be enough for the anti-abortion movement,” Hearron said. “They are not going to be OK with states getting to decide what’s legal and illegal.”
Ripple effects
The Supreme Court’s 2022 decision that overturned federal abortion protections had immediate and significant ripple effects nationwide.
Now, 21 states ban or limit the procedure, including Florida, which enacted a six-week ban on Wednesday.
States where abortion remains legal saw an influx of abortion patients from states like Texas.
The abortion fund Fund Texas Choice spent more than $560,000 on client out-of-state travel in the first nine months of 2023.
Last year, the Chicago Abortion Fund received more than 1,200 calls from Texans alone.
Hearron said his organization will file a response on behalf of the woman its representing and that it’ll likely be weeks before there’s any movement in the court.
“We have a constitutional right to travel from state to state and to access services that are legal in a state where they’re accessed,” Hearron said. “States are not allowed to trap people.”
Texas man files legal action to probe ex-partner’s out-of-state abortion
The previously unreported petition reflects a potential new antiabortion strategy to block women from ending their pregnancies in states where abortion is legal.
As soon as Collin Davis found out his ex-partner was planning to travel to Colorado to have an abortion in late February, the Texas man retained a high-powered antiabortion attorney — who court records show immediately issued a legal threat.
If the woman proceeded with the abortion, even in a state where the procedure remains legal, Davis would seek a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the abortion and “pursue wrongful-death claims against anyone involved in the killing of his unborn child,” the lawyer wrote in a letter, according to records.
Now, Davis has disclosed his former partner’s abortion to a state district court in Texas, asking for the power to investigate what his lawyer characterizes as potentially illegal activity in a state where almost all abortions are banned.
The previously unreported petition was submitted under an unusual legal mechanism often used in Texas to investigate suspected illegal actions before a lawsuit is filed.
The petition claims Davis could sue either under the state’s wrongful-death statute or the novel Texas law known as Senate Bill 8 that allows private citizens to file suit against anyone who “aids or abets” an illegal abortion.
3 Texas women being sued by friend's ex-husband for allegedly helping her obtain abortion pills
Texas man suing friends of ex-wife for helping supply abortion pills
Marcus Silva alleges his ex and her friends illegally obtained abortion pills after becoming pregnant in July 2022, one month after the overturning of Roe v. Wade.
GALVESTON, Texas -- A Texas man is suing three women under the wrongful death statute, alleging that they assisted his ex-wife in terminating her pregnancy, the first such case brought since the state's near-total ban on abortion last summer.
Marcus Silva is represented by Jonathan Mitchell, the former Texas solicitor general and architect of the state's prohibition on abortions after about six weeks of pregnancy, and state Rep. Briscoe Cain, R-Deer Park.
The lawsuit is filed in state court in Galveston County, where Silva lives.
Silva alleges that his now ex-wife learned she was pregnant in July 2022, the month after the overturn of Roe v. Wade, and conspired with two friends to illegally obtain abortion-inducing medication and terminate the pregnancy.
The friends texted with the woman, sending her information about Aid Access, an international group that provides abortion-inducing medication through the mail, the lawsuit alleges.
Text messages filed as part of the complaint seem to show they instead found a way to acquire the medication in Houston, where the two women lived.
A third woman delivered the medication, the lawsuit alleges, and text messages indicate that the wife self-managed an abortion at home.
The defendants could not immediately be reached for comment. Silva's wife filed for divorce in May 2022, court records show, two months before the alleged abortion.
The divorce was finalized in February.
They share two daughters, the lawsuit said.
The lawsuit relies heavily on screenshots from a group chat the ex-wife had with two friends seemingly seeking to help her terminate her pregnancy.
Her friends expressed concern that Silva would "snake his way into your head."
"I know either way he will use it against me," the pregnant woman said, according to text messages attached to the complaint. "If I told him before, which I'm not, he would use it as a way to try to stay with me. And after the fact, I know he will try to act like he has some right to the decision."
"Delete all conversations from today," one of the women later told her. "You don't want him looking through it."
The lawsuit alleges that assisting a self-managed abortion qualifies as murder under state law, which would allow Silva to sue under the wrongful death statute.
The women have not been criminally charged.
Texas' abortion laws specifically exempt the pregnant person from prosecution; the ex-wife is not named as a defendant.
The legality of abortion in Texas in July 2022 is murky.
The state's trigger law, which makes performing abortion a crime punishable by up to life in prison, did not go into effect until August.
But conservative state leaders, including Cain and Attorney General Ken Paxton, have claimed that the state's pre-Roe abortion bans, which punish anyone who performs or "furnishes the means" for an abortion by up to five years in prison, went back into effect the day Roe v. Wade was overturned in June.
The legal status of these pre-Roe statutes remains a contentious question.
In 2004, the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that those laws were "repealed by implication," which U.S. District Judge Robert Pitman reaffirmed in a recent ruling.
But Cain and others have repeatedly argued that the Legislature restored those laws into effect with recent abortion legislation.
This issue went before the Texas Supreme Court, but the case was dismissed before a final ruling.
In 2021, the Legislature passed a law making it a state jail felony to provide abortion-inducing medication except under extremely specific circumstances.
Joanna Grossman, a law professor at SMU Dedman School of Law, said this lawsuit is "absurd and inflammatory."
Since the pregnant patient is protected from prosecution, there is no underlying cause of action to bring a wrongful death suit in a self-managed abortion, she said.
"But this is going to cause such fear and chilling that it doesn't matter whether Mitchell is right," Grossman said. "Who is going to want to help a friend find an abortion if there is some chance that their text messages are going to end up in the news? And maybe they're going to get sued, and maybe they're going to get arrested, and it's going to get dropped eventually, but in the meantime, they will have been terrified."
But it's possible this lawsuit could get traction, said Charles "Rocky" Rhodes, a law professor at South Texas College of Law.
"It's scary to think that you can be sued for significant damages for helping a friend undertake acts that help her have even a self-medicated abortion," Rhodes said. "Obviously, the allegations would have to be proven, but there is potentially merit to this suit under Texas' abortion laws as they exist now."
Mitchell and Cain intend to also name the manufacturer of the abortion pill as a defendant, once it is identified.
"Anyone involved in distributing or manufacturing abortion pills will be sued into oblivion," Cain said in a statement.
Silva is asking a Galveston judge to award him more than $1 million in damages and an injunction stopping the defendants from distributing abortion pills in Texas.
Sepultura (monografia) Pt. 1
Tumblr media
I Sepultura debuttano nel 1986 con Morbid Visions, un album relativamente semplice (la loro brutalità è grossolana), ma al tempo stesso complesso, in quanto fonde death, black e thrash metal in un’unica soluzione. Siamo in Brasile dove i fratelli Cavalera, i figli di un console di origine italiana morto prematuramente e di una modella brasiliana, fondano i Sepultura aggiungendo alla formazione Jairo Guedz e Paulo Jr. Morbid Visions si distingue per il suo sound viscerale, i riff sono thrash metal, ma la batteria e la voce sgranata e violenta l’una di Igor, e l’altra di Max, strizzano già l’occhio ai generi di metal estremo (black e death), riuscendo a confezionare un debutto che è sicuramente una pietra miliare - da notare le tematiche sataniche che poi verranno abbandonate in futuro. Già l’anno dopo viene pubblicato Schizophrenia, altrettanto interessante ma di certo inferiore rispetto al primo album. Beneath the Remains del 1989, completa l’opera di una trilogia che ha progressivamente reso più comprensibile il sound della band di Belo Horizonte, anche se gli anni 90 vedranno il gruppo brasiliano tornare a sfogare tutte le proprie istanze più furiose. È il caso di Arise, un disco molto complesso e dalla ferocia quasi inaspettata. Nel frattempo è subentrato Andreas Kisser alla chitarra, e il sound dei Sepultura sta mutando in quello che conosciamo oggi: riff brutali, voce implacabile, tematiche politiche, e percussioni che ricordano il loro paese, un tocco di esotico che li distingue dal metal ordinario. Chaos A.D. del 1993 adopera la stessa strategia, ma risulta come un clone del suo predecessore, seppur pregevole. Nel 1996 però, con Roots, si cambia nuovamente passo, i Sepultura si aggiornano al nu metal creato due anni prima dai Korn (nel 1994), non a caso Jonathan Davis, Mike Patton, e DJ Lethal partecipano a Lookaway, mentre i brani più famosi rimangono la storica Roots Bloody Roots, e Ratamahatta.
